Dawn loved summer. She was made for it. Growing up with a bedroom that looked over the seaside did that to a girl, and it would take a lot to convince her to move anywhere else. Especially when she could pack up her favourite towel, don her cutest bikini, and cross the road to the beach in minutes when the day was nice -- why would she?

Today was one of those days, the kind that come from knowing the days were eventually going to get few and far between and soon the light sea breeze would whip like ice.

Which was what found her lying on the sand under the sun, headphones in, eyes closed, soaking it all in. Peaceful was the only word for it. That was until she felt the drop of water on her cheek, then more, and more. It was like a kid with a water gun, or a dog shaking out its fur, or maybe someone had come straight from the water to stand over her. She just hoped it wasn't raining.

If Dawn could describe a perfect night, she'd probably describe something similar to how her and Yseult were spending their Thursday. It was the perfect late summers night, not too hot but nice enough to have the windows open with the sea breeze coming through, allowing for her giant comforter to be dragged from her bedroom to the couch, where the two girls, one golden retriever, and a kitten were all curled up in front of the television, currently set to the Netflix home page.

"Okay, so I may have gone a bit over the top," there was no may about it. "But I was in a cooking mood. Like, more than normal." In front of them was a feast big enough to probably feed the whole soccer team, inclusive of two different types of pasta and a whole tray of cupcakes, and Chucky was eyeing it off, ready to demolish whatever he was offered.
