ANYWAY update post + the reason why i‘ve been so absent lately <3 these are some big news but i was finally accepted for a summer school that will take place in . . . *drum roll*

yes you read that correctly, i‘m going to japan for two weeks, which has literally been my dream since i was 13? yeah this is insane i still can’t believe it’s happening. i‘m so excited to learn more about the language and the culture, finally visit tokio and buy an uncountable amount of merchandise of my hubby— / bricked

SO i‘ve been super busy with planning everything !! today we booked the flights and now i have to prepare for a small language exam, which is scary, but i think i‘ll manage somehow !!

and that‘s it, basically 🫶🏻🥹 i hope you‘re all doing well mooties, i‘ll be more active again once i took the test :]

so you know my fic Prodigal of Lazarus? I'm investing a lot more into it.

There's a sequel being plotted called Prodigies of Gomorrah where it's Jason & Danny-centric at the beginning, starting from the events where chapter 3 of PoL leaves off, and it'll go along the plot from Danny and Jason's povs rather than batfam and damian's all the way until beyond the end of PoL where Under the Red Hood's events (but is turned canon-divergent) happen.

i decided to separate that plot and arc because i can't keep extending the fic, this was originally supposed to be just 5 chapters WHAT HAPPENED TO MY 5 CHAPTERS.

And there's even another fic in the works where i focus on the fluff of PoL's universe because I had a lot of scenes retconned for the sake of not dragging the fic (dude there are like 8-13k words per chapter). Progeny of Sacrifices is gonna be my fluff outlet despite how un-fluffy the title sounds.

i also decided to separate this plot from the first fic because THE WORD COUNT IS TOO LONG i dont want the fic to be so DRAGGING but also i wanted to get the chapters over it so i can read it for myself

And you know what I'm gonna call this series? Paradigm of a Family.

I woke up anxious after only a few hours of sleep -- between stressful days of work and a time change (currently in Seattle), my body is all fucked up -- and decided to just read until I get tired enough to pass out again.

I'm currently obsessed with this book, A Visitor To The Future, perhaps the most impressive bit of futurism I've ever read, if a bit disjointed. The author is posting each chapter one at a time, and I expect that if it's ever "finished" -- there's 137 chapters so far -- it'll be edited to make the flow a little more consistent.

But the world-building is so incredibly rich, which is a funny term to use considering that from the very first chapter, it's made clear that money no longer exists. This is a post-scarcity world. All the needs and the vast majority of wants are met for all people.

As we learn about this world, it's clear that the author is 100 steps ahead, thinking both about how things work here (and why), and how it contrasts with our time. And it makes me wonder if I've been short-sighted with The Spire.

Yes, my world is only set a few decades into the future, with most of it taking place in the 2040s-2060s, and I have leaned hard into the cooperative model, with the entire station being owned by the residents. But I've been hand-wavy about money in general, and jobs and income are still a central part of the world.

I can't help but want to clarify exactly where The Spire is in terms of scarcity "today" and how that could transition to a post-scarcity society in the future. It's always been a goal of mine, but it's hard to wrap my own head around; I'm shocked that this author has done such an effective job.

the fact that eric kripke isn't even christian really adds something to the way christianity is depicted on supernatural. because its really not about being christian at all, but about living in america, a country dominated by christianity, and having to decide for yourself how to handle that. faith is huge in supernatural, and the mythology of the show is very bible-centric, but notably, christ is never there. even sam, who starts out revering the angels, who once said he prays every night, doesn't actually call himself a christian or imply that he believes in jesus--the show is steeped in christianity and biblical lore and yet neither sam nor dean are christians. in fact, over and over again the church itself is depicted as a haunted house that sam and dean will only ever enter as strangers, as outsiders. priests, preachers, faith healers, chapels, crypts, etc. are all just iconography that create an intense sense of unease that sam and dean respond to instantly. as a jew, its very relatable. an essential part of living in america when you're not christian is that exact sense of unease, of knowing that the culture of your country has ensured that you'll get knocked over by christianity no matter where you go, that you'll see hundreds of people truly believing they're good people while doing awful things in the name of their god, and you have no choice but to confront that. kripke gets it

I need more Luis lore! I appreciate how Capcom really added to his character, but I want more!

What a dream come true it would be if a Luis DLC story was added to the game. They can start from his days at Umbrella working on the Nemisis and other projects. Learn more about his working relationship with Saddler, the mines, the development of the Plaga, to then meeting Wesker and Ada. All leading up the events of RE4. Explore his feelings of regret, what made him want to change. It would be cool to also have the option to play as him when he runs off after being chained up with Leon and so on.

While skimming the JP volumes, I noticed a lot of subtleties in how characters address each other that aren't always carried over in translation.

So I did the only rational thing and made a frequency list of all the different ways Integra, Alucard, and Seras refer to each other throughout the manga.*

Lucifer's goofy ass attitude makes me think that he was actually a seraphim and held Emily's position before she did

it seems like he used to be in charge of making sure everyone in heaven was happy with his wacky clown vibe

Sera is worried about Emily falling because she is so similar to him, which we can see from her similarities to Charlie

Emily is also a troublemaker with her asking tough questions, and she also just wants to help people

it's also mentioned that she is younger than Sera

plus Lucifer transforms into a flying snake all the time and he does seem to like fire as per how seraphims seem to be described

as a side note it seems that the only difference between fallen angels and angels is that they no longer have a halo, so maybe Vaggie will get some fallen angel powers like Lucifer, or maybe she can reclaim her lost halo to signal her redemption
