i read some of the jp fandom’s reactions to this chapter and some were saying how slightly ooc tubaki feels and i’m ngl i kinda agree. ik he’s always been pretty flippant but he’s acting a lot like hyde, teasing kuro alot, but ig it kinda makes sense with how they resolved their conflict and need to work together now. i’m not complaining tho, he’s so cute i want to pinch his cheeks

MHA is a nightmare and my personal punching bag

A lot of people like to say that MHA is bad. But a large sum of the fandom has largely ignored the actually problems with the story and characters as a whole. The problems that have been applauded despite the gaping flaws. So let's discus.

Where do I start? My Hero Academia is the single most horrible show I have watched for some time. It's good points are far and few between the shit show of it's story and characters. So it's small problems first. It's over sexualizaton of it the teens in it's cast is just abhorrent and I hold similar sentiments for the fandom in some cases. The villains frankly get too much attention, with one crazy man's ideology pulling all the weight of their missguided motive. Or everything being a direct result of one delusional man's puppeteering. Not to mention the overall demonization of mental illness and inherently flawed take of forgiving your abusers.

Midoriya and All Might is a toxic relationship. Sorry about the whiplash, allow me to explain. From the start we get to see Midoriya as a victim of Bakugo's almost constant abuse, but also his love of All Might. The idyllic and 'perfect' hero he aspires to be and is convenient to. Izuku Midoriya is All Might's convenient child because Midoriya is too blinded by his idol worship to see that All Might is using him to continue his battles, slowly grooming Midoriya into the next him. All Might is the last oasis in the desert of his life and Midoriya has none of the tools necessary to leave, All Might wont let him leave. And he goes unchallenged by the story for lifting up Midoriya's suicidal tendencies by preying on his need for validation through action. All Might is using Midoriya to desperately cling to his golden years and that is actively detrimental to Midoriya's growth as a character.

If I may compare Izuku to another similar character, and I shall. Mahiru Shirota is one of the protagonists of Servamp, a character driven manga about servant vampires or Servamps and their masters or Eves. Mahiru is the eve of sloth, his Servamp, Kuro or Sleepy Ash. Mahiru at the start of the story is almost identical to Midoriya through out mha, Mahiru is a convenient child for everyone in the story. He doesn't voice his objection or opinions beyond what you would expect from a kid like him. He aims to please and is almost suicidal in his pursuit of validation. But were Midoriya stagnates, Mahiru blooms, he grows to be more selfish and loving thanks to the logical end point of that stagnant arc, Kuro. Kuro was killed by sloth, his willingness to take the blame for a crime he didn't commit for the sake of his village. His selflessness and the inherent selfish need of external validation was no different than suicide. But were Kuro and Mahiru grow, Midoriya just doesn't, he rots on the vine and fails to become anything. His lack of growth makes him come off as winey and pathetic or just boring because he doesn't change for the better. His stint of vigilantism is just every adult in his life telling him that sacrificing himself is how he will atone for his inherited burden. For the sin of All Might's sloth for what Yagi and the other holders allowed to fester in the dark.

Bakugo Katsuki is... a good premise with bad execution. Bakugo's entire arc is learning to not be a fucking asshole, simple in premise and absolute horse shit in execution. From the word go, Bakugo is shown to be an abuser. Midoriya's abuser to be precise. Going so far as to actively tell Midoriya to kill himself. Now, Bakugo's abuse is born from a place of projection, Bakugo is a narcissist, not in the traditional sense, but more in a way that makes him unable to empathize with positive emotion in relation to himself and others. He is the center of the world, but at the same time he thinks of himself as worthless without his strength, unable to exist with the knowledge that he isn't the best of the best. Bakugo's arc ends far too late. Bakugo's arc should had started after the sports festival at his interaction with Best Jeanist leading to an apology tour and ended during the culture festival, his payoff during the fight against AFO Shigaraki and the vigilante Deku arc. Bonus points if Midoriya doesn't forgive him at first, leading to Bakugo working to regain that trust in more tangible ways. Have Bakugo seek towards empathy.

Ochako Uraraka isn't a character, not a well made one at least. To be fair this is something most of the cast suffers from. If it isn't the main protagonists or antagonists, the writer doesn't care. Uraraka is just the love interest without any depth of character beyond that. People like to pretend there is more going on, but I just don't see it. All of her 'growth' is motivated by her obsessive and honestly one sided love for Midoriya, a love that is only returned when Midoriya and she are looking for something to fill the void. It's toxic and terribly familiar to his and All Might's relationship. Midoriya is constantly put into the role of savior to all of these characters that don't in turn assist in his growth.

Speaking of Midoriya's role of savior, we have finally arrived at the L.O.V. The League of Villains is a good premise for an exploration of the inner politics of a world where 20% of the world lacks a unique superpower (that's still a lot BTW). Or to dive into the segregation of those with detrimental, uncontrollable, or 'villainous' quirks. The bigotry towards mutagenic quirks. Or an actual exploration of the inherent flaws of a society that has put a price tag on altruism, something more than senseless slaughter spearheaded by manchilds and mass murderers. The L.O.V deserved to be something more than the flawed argument of some fanatical lack of worthiness and some vague notion that rebellion against a already broken system is a problem. It's stupid, The League of Villains had potential to be actually interesting, but it was made into anarchy for the sake of it never even attempting to offer a solution to a system broken for those already in power.

Yet somehow we have missed the biggest point of what a hero is. A hero is a person who does what they can to save people who are hurt, broken, or lost. Even when they are the 'villains' or more plainly the mentally ill and those rejected by society. Somehow we have forgotten or ignored all of the Wake the Deads, the For the Man Who Has Everythings, the Flash And Substances, and the Epilogues. All the stories that told us that sometimes the best thing to do is be there for people. Being a hero isn't about fighting. It's just about being there. For the people, all of the people. But also understanding that some people can't be helped. People like Baby Doll and Shigaraki, Dabi and All For One, people too far gone or too hurt to help. Toga and Twice just needed help they weren't given. It is what was born of the legacy of All Might, peace and complacency, a smile hiding everyone else's tears. Every single crime committed by Shigaraki and the L.O.V is the direct fault of All Might. Because he refused to see the people he was fighting as what they were. Evil is often relative because to an ant a boot is evil. Rarely in the world does true evil exist and often it is taught or held in those who believe themselves without betters or equals.

Servamp ship hot take maybe?? (Ilnicco, it’s Ilnicco)

I’m gonna preface this with I am NOTTT displaying animosity to anybody who ships Ilnicco at all!! This is just my two cents on it. Anywayyy!!!

I do like the concept of it as a duo but as a ship?? Ehhh…

My reasons for this is that even though I do enjoy their dynamic, it kind of just falls flat as a romantic relationship. If anything, Ildio treats Nicco more as an annoying little brother than he does as a romantic partner. (Dare I say he never shows interest in anyone in that way at all?? Through the entire manga??) Ildio just seems incredibly unbothered and annoyed by Nicco throughout like… every scene we get of them together.

I don’t really care if you ship it, because by all means have fun it’s none of my business!!! But personally, I just don’t see it. It seems kind of more like “well let’s just ship the eve and the servamp together because we got nothing else” in my opinion.

It's such a shame that cigarettes and smoking is so hot yet so so unhealthy and how the smell clings.

Oh my god REAL. The visuals can go so hard but it's so not worth it. The clouds and wisps of smoke can be so mesmerising and seeing how some people playing around with the clouds like magic is extremely eye catching!

But also if I ever started smoking and got caught, I'm like 100% sure I'd have to fistfight my dad and that is a battle I would NOT win.

In regards to Mahiru smoking, it is hot, yes, but also EXTREMELY worrying because. Well. It's Shirota Mahiru. That kind of stuff would definitely affect him in a way that's noticable to the people around him.

Like sure, he'd absolutely be respectful of the people around him and only ever smoke on the balcony when the clothesline doesn't have anything drying that could pick up the smell, but he would NOT get away with it.

If not Tooru, if not Kuro, if not Sakuya or Tsubaki or Ryuusei and Koyuki-- then even Licht is going to step in.

Or more like the angel is going to kick the damn thing out of his hands and stare that boy down so hard he starts sweating. Talking about how Some Demonic Force Is Trying To Corrupt The Angel-In-Training He's Taken Under His Wing. So obviously if no one else is making him stop then he will.

Why?

Because he's an angel! *insert Lawless and a bunch of sparkles*

But yeah, no. It's really unfortunately hot but for Mahiru? Wouldn't last.

Also semi-off topic but the idea of someone taking a drag, grabbing ur face and blowing the smoke into your mouth is one of the things that Really Gets Me that I do not see very often when I see actors/characters smoking around other characters they have The Tension with. You see them blowing smoke into peoples faces as a deterent or insult but never straight into the mouth, and as a flirt. I need more of that please. I saw someone animate that in a random animatic that I've since lost (I cry) and it activated a neuron for me. I wrote a lil ficlet about Human!Sloth doing that to Mahiru once.

When they go back to the actual timeline, would Mahiru still be Tsubaki's eve?? Coz that meant Tsubaki subclasess would also be around Mahiru right??!! I really like the idea of Mahiru being surrounded by many people tbh 🥲. Plus Sakuya will be with him too. And I think it would be good too for Kuro... you know, bonding with the youngest brother who hated you in the past etc,etc.

Don't you think it's enough loneliness for Mahiru and Kuro? 🥲. Yes, I know that they found each other but the more the merrier right?

Or!! Whether Tsubaki wlil no longer be Mahiru's servamp, at least he considers Mahiru and Kuro to be the people he looked up to. That'll be great not only for Mahiru and Kuro, but also Tsubaki.

Tsubaki and Lawless Sibling Headcanons

After reading that meme about what woulda happened if Lawless and Tsubaki were on good terms I had to make these headcanons

This. I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought about this-  Allow me to do a small rant/analysis-

Lawless is canonically referred to as having a family root according to Gear in this panel

Yall no one can change my mind Lawless got fat daddy issues that run deeper than a black hole

As shown in these panels he has a deep respect and gratitude to Saint germaine for reviving him, and even goes as far as to lecture Kuro for being "rude"

I also find it interesting how of all the siblings Lawless is pretty much the only one that was happy to be revived, aside from Ildio who was more or so neutral on his new life. Lawless pretty much took his new life and appreciated his second chance-

Personally in my opinion, I believed because he was a lower-ranking prince who was killed in a conspiracy he may have never gotten a chance to live life? He looks like he died pretty young and since he was a lower ranking prince, he may have lived with a silver spoon in his mouth, but likely was never able to go out to much and was probably very lonely. He probably only had Guil by his side which is why I love and adore their father/brother dynamic 😭

SPEAKING OF BROTHER DYNAMICS- KURO I GOT A BONE TO PICK WITH YOU-

dAWG- WHYD KURO DO HIM SO DIRTY 😭Bro straight up just lost Ophelia, is about to lose his "second father", then gets dumped by his own god damn brother- Like Kuro pretty much told him "we shouldn't have been born". Like bruh lawless got done so dirty in a span of like a week, like even after this he goes back home  Ophelia's kingdom was destroyed 💀

Also he had to walk to the meeting stop for about 10 days+ and then walked back on his hedgehog stubby legs like is this man okay, IMAGINE WALKING ALL THE WAY ON FOOT AND JUST BEING DUMPED LIKE THAT- no wonder bro held such a fatass grudge against Kuro. Centuries later they meet again and  Kuro really had the audacity to be like, "why u mad at me" as if he didnt kill Saint and told Lawless they shouldn't really exist 😭

Anyways, moving onto the actual Tsubaki and Lawless siblings headcanons-

Lawless desperately wanted a family and tried seeking that through his new found Servamp siblings, but sadly none of them really wanted it aside from Ildio and Freya. Love the headcanon that Freya canonically thinks of Lawless as her "dear brother"🥺

Tsubaki later down the road looks like he craved that too? In fact it looks like he went to every sibling and tried asking them who he was and none of them knew. But what Im curious is about is this

Lawless already knew about Tsubaki? When we got Lily's POV, he stated that he was visited by Tsubaki, and Tsubaki started laughing because none of his siblings knew about him. Now Im curious, because if Lawless had met Tsubaki in the past, what was it like? Did he just know of Tsubaki from C3? Given the fact that Lawless has spied on them sometimes when he was bored, is that how he found it? But I have a weak heart, so lets make some headcanons on had they met earlier and actually became close.

In a perfect world, Id had pictured Lawless helped Tsubaki escape from C3 and they both became close since both craved familial love. Its been revealed that Tsubaki is trying to protect his little sister so for sure, bros in the same boat as Lawless trying to make found family

There was also an old book called, "The Hedgehog and the Fox" where a quote is stated, "The fox knows many things, but the hedgehog knows one big thing." I like to think this very similar to Lawless and Tsubaki. Tsubaki, is likely one of the strongest siblings and can clap cheeks instantly. He has many skills and is canonically the only one that can "kill" his siblings, but Lawless is older, so I believe the "the hedgehog knows one big thing" is really cute, but it feeds into the dynamic that, yes although Tsubaki is superior to Lawless in terms of power, he has a lot more to learn.

Considering Tsubaki was locked up in C3 for a while I would like to think Lawless took him out and immediately tried getting him situated in the modern era. Thats my perspective on "hedgehog knows one big thing" like imagine being locked up and experimented for ages, and finally being introduced the modern day, like when was the last time Tsubaki saw the sun 💀

I also headcanon Lawless is probably pretty well off considering hes greed and judging from the fact hes constantly wearing rings and bracelets like I doubt those are fake, and he literally shops at Shibuya. Lawless is canonically a bougie bitch 💀

now that i’m thinking about it, it’s kinda crazy that akira pulled off mahiru’s revival is it not? it took villages to revive the servamps and they still didn’t turn out human so how did mahiru come back as a human with the price being just akira? am i missing something?

like the more i think about it the more i feel like its such a shame that this was revealed at the very end of the series + it’s used for mahiru to briefly fall back on the “it should be me” trope that he had gotten over with in london. i genuinely think the tooru cliffhanger was unnecessary. tanaka shouldve let him tell mahiru, have the call come immediately after the reveal, it gets forgotten in the midst of confronting tsubaki, the whole london shenanigan happens, he reveals that he doesn’t mind being the sacrifice because he’s died once, him and kuro can bond over their fucked up reincarnation and boom the story moves on

this way the reveal could’ve been a little more impactful and could’ve been an even angstier reason to mahiru’s self sabotage

i remember there were some theories floating around that he’s a phoenix or had some ties to saint germain and stuff but that all went down. had the secret been revealed earlier in the story we could’ve gotten so much more background about mahiru and akira, i was so hyped for her and her relationship w touma. the last time mahiru went thru major character development is the london arc and he’s the mc for gods sake 😭

i want to preface this by saying i absolutely love this series and i have been loyally reading the raws the day they come out every single month for the past 5 years, but i think servamp fell off after c3 arc and then got better for a little bit in london arc🫣 obviously i am very kuromahi pilled so this is a very biased !opinion!

and yall, ik this is going to make me look stupid asl but i genuinely don’t understand mikuni’s obsession with misono. i swear i read those chapters like 5 times but my brain just can’t comprehend it. maybe i should try reading the english translations for once because clearly im not understanding the japanese version

anyways i hope tanaka sensei takes a nice break now that she finished this decade long series. maybe she has another manga series in mind, i wouldn’t mind her going back to her bl roots either (if anyone knows where i can find all of them please tell me, i found some a couple of year ago under her other name tanaka ball but only snippets so pls help a girly out 🙏) oh and idk how well known this is in the fandom but tanaka sensei is a fan of kagerou project and has drawn a couple of oneshots for anthologies in which a certain character acts and is drawn like a certain blondie, which i think some of you crazy fans might appreciate

I know Johannes only has had like 3 panels of screen time in recent years but the amount of headcanons I have for him is actually really 😨☝️ it's something.....

He's a crazy workaholic and will probably rather drop dead than stop his oh so important research about servamps

freaky ahh guy that creeps the living daylights out of any normal person (socially inept but it's bc he doesn't gaf ab social conformity)

Freaked out his parents a lot when he was younger because he was a very intelligent but typically aloof child

May or may not have experimented on his own family (with or without their knowledge)

He's most comfortable with otogiri, and he'd constantly rant to her about his new current scientific interests when he was a child (🤓☝️)

He's a good younger brother

Both of them are apathetic and indifferent in their own way. Otogiri, more so physically and on the surface, while Johannes is more psychological because he's just not wired that way. For oto, it's more like her default expression/state of mind

Johan topped his schools a lot and pursued higher education via scholarships (I'm pretty sure this is confirmed canon by now unless I rmb wrongly)

When oto got her job as a nurse, he was elated and tried to accompany her to see how she'd treat her patients to see a live demo of treatment on patients/the side effects of deadly illnesses on patients

Had always had an interest in the more morbid and niche, and was a social outcast, though he didn't really care

He's smart, and understands complicated concepts easily, but sucks at teaching (he'd explain complicated concepts with other complicated concepts not realising youre not on the same lvl)

Was absent from classes a lot (and hung around the science labs or his own DIY lab in his room to conduct his own experiments)

His favourite food is plain bread because it's what they could've afforded, so it brings him back to the times with his sister.

It may not look like it, but he misses her terribly and always feels a sense of guilt about her 'sacrifice' (:()

That last post you made suddenly made me remember why I dislike sloth pair and greed pair shipping so much before I actually read the manga (I had only watched the anime at the time). Fanon sloth pair felt off like those sitcom couples where the husband is the lazy "breadwinner" while the wife is the all purpose house minister, which doesn't embody the actual sloth pair. Fanon greed pair had a dynamic that was grating on my nerves, Licht was just weird kid with no common sense while Lawless was other weird kid who thinks taunting the other is the best way to show love (Also you can't tell me Lawless is the dominant one in that relationship which was fanon). The manga made me have a better appreciation for the sloth pair and greed pair but good grief did fanon do them dirty. Funnily enough, I started shipping Lawhiru because of fanon so maybe this rant is actually hypocrisy on my part. Anyways sorry for dumping in your inbox.

yah like kuro would feel guilty being on the receiving end all the time honestly, it's not like he's lazy necessarily because he enjoys not doing anything it's more like a symptom of his depression and he hates himself for it also people aren't making mahiru a jock enough

meanwhile licht's treatment in the fandom is egregious because he's a denpa character and people are used to denpa characters not having any nuance, but servamp is all about taking in popular anime tropes and subversing it (i could also say something about people's treatments towards autistic-coded character but because that's not a confirmed canon i'll refrain)

anyway people making lawless dom licht is like. do you think licht will allow that. do you think licht jekylland "the bedroom is a competition and im winning" todoroki would allow that
