*mingyuAI ad circa 1998, bot iteration 7th gen, known problems: highly possessive of primary users, large scale re-configuration required, two (2) known fatalities
đđđđŹđđŤ: 0.7k
pairing: k.mg x f!reader
summary: in an alternate universe where ai bots exist, y/n's friends surprise her with an ai assistant, and she has no clue what to do with this happy, perky, chatty invader who looks and seems like the most understanding person to exist...except he isn't human
teaser summary: from owner's guide, part 38: setup "when first meeting your new mingyuAI, there will be an initial setup phase that we refer to as 'waking' - this sequence involves many parts, but think of it as a way for your new android to calibrate themselves to you and your needs. remember, you come first with mingyuAI!"
genre: sci-fi au, ai!mingyu, android!mingyu, human!reader, possessive mingyu
y/n looked at him quietly, âCan I say that I donât want to know about other usersâ preferences?âÂ
She really didnât give a fuck what others thought about the process. To y/n, Mingyu had just presented himself like a product review page - she didnât like that. She didnât want that to be part of whatever their relationship was.Â
Mingyu nodded, âIâm prompted to tell you that other usersâ reviews are generally considered to be useful barometers for new users.âÂ
y/n was already shaking her head, âI donât care - it sounds weird - weâre meant to be having a conversation, so we should just have that without these interjections, right?â She asked, nervously twisting the belt of her dressing gown.Â
She noticed Mingyuâs small nod of agreement, âYes, itâs always meant to be conversational, but there are certain interactions that are heavily scripted based on my coding,â again he was quiet.
And again, y/n furrowed her brow, âCan I deactivate the prompting thing?â She asked, sounding skeptical.Â
Mingyu inclined his head slightly, âYou can, but there are certain overrides that I canât make on my own - the prompts are ones that I can deactivate, but Iâm guessing that youâre going to continue to bristle at my factory settings, so when I show you where to download and set up the MingyuAi app, you can turn off that function under settings,â Mingyuâs countenance didnât change - his gaze was placid and gentle.
y/n bit her lip, âIt feels weird that you have factory settings when you lookââ she couldnât meet Mingyuâs gaze, âwhen you look perfectly human - it makes me uncomfortable to think about,â she stared and the pattern of her dressing gown, tracing a finger along the piping.
Mingyu watched her though, watched her movements and the flush that colored her cheeks, âDo I make you uncomfortable?â His voice was even. An even tone was a factory setting. Although from the brief time Mingyu had been awake, his inclination was to touch his user, especially since she was clearly exhibiting high levels of distress.Â
y/n shook her head, âNo, I donât think so, at least not the way I imagined,â her voice trailed off, but she suddenly looked at Mingyu, âI donât mean that - you donât - there are just things that,â she halted and turned to look out the window, âthere are just things that feel unfair to me and thatâs what makes me uncomfortable,â y/n didnât look back to Mingyu.Â
She didnât see Mingyuâs nod, âI think I understand, but what matters right now is whether Iâm causing you any anxiety or discomfort,â he waited for any indication.Â
y/n just shook her head, âCan you ask me things and if I get tired you can just ask the rest during the observational period?âÂ
âYes, I can - it does prolong my current state,â he offered, hoping that y/n would ask a question that would allow him to explain.Â
She glanced back, âWhat does that mean? Your âcurrent state,ââ she clarified.
Mingyu couldnât smile, he couldnât show happiness that y/n seemed to question everything, âIt means without all the input data from you, I canât fully react to you,â he paused, once again, bound by his scripting.Â
y/n looked at him questioningly, âReact how?â
Mingyu nodded again, it was annoying to only be able to nod, âIt means my interactions are limited - I canât smile or frown or change the intonation of my voice - my physical interactions are limited as well, like how you had to pointedly ask me to follow you, once I know what areas of your home are available to me, then I can follow you more naturally,â he hoped that it was enough for y/n to understand that she was getting the most stilted version of Mingyu at the moment.Â
y/n sighed, âYouâre welcome in the whole house, and outside too,â she shrugged.Â
Mingyu nodded, âYou donât have to give me that level of access to your space like your bedroom, bathroom, and any other spaces can be excluded,â he watched as y/n flopped back onto the bean bag.
âWhatâs the point - Iâm sure Iâll just be annoyed with you hovering outside certain rooms,â she glanced at Mingyu, her gaze had softened considerably.Â
a/n: oh y/n...should she be listening to other users' preferences?? who knows...(me - i know)

The RB16 was actually considered as one of the fastest cars on the grid in 2020, only behind *maybe* the Mercedes despite looking rocky at the beginning of the season. I found a little snippet of what Max said about the car:

Max and Alex both have the same preference of oversteer, but it's on different levels for them.

Look on this chart where Alex is more towards the N (neutral) while Max is more to the extreme side of oversteer! Alex has said before that some of the main reason why he had such a hard time in the car was because of the media attention and not having enough experience after being brought up so soon from Toro Rosso (doesn't that sound like a certain American currently in Williams...). He also was getting updates way later than Max, which while normal, definitely didn't help his case. I definitely do think though that if Alex got another year, he definitely could have done well!
Don't take me for sure on this, but I've seen people say that the more extreme you are in preference, the "faster" you'll be. It makes sense, but if you see Lewis on that chart, that claim seems rather stupid.
I honestly have no idea how good the Williams actually is. From our POV, it obviously looks slow and hard to drive (Logan's hands during some of these corners....) but I would say it's hard to tell how actually bad it is. For all we know, its a decent car that looks worse than it is because of that extra weight. Going back to Alex, I think that media pressure Logan's been getting is what's hurting him so much. I think he's scared to push the car, which is a reason why he's crashing so much.
To be frank, I know little to nothing about how drivers configure their set ups/cars, but I do agree that Logan has been massively improving since last year. He's definitely been crashing less, and that weight he put on during the beginning on the year seems to be doing well for him! I'm actually really excited to see if Logan will be able to start matching Alex by the end of the year in terms of pace/ points (?). I think some weight will finally be lifted off him not that he knows he's not fighting for his seat anymore.
I think it's kinda funny how so many teams have drivers that like opposite things. In Ferrari we had Charles (oversteer) and Carlos (understeer) and in Red bull we have Max (oversteer) and Checo (understeer). Carlos though, has shown that he can drive cars that don't exactly suit his preference. I'm pretty sure (I'm saying this because it's a struggle to keep up with Ferrari sometimes) that the car is more suited towards Charles this year and in 2021 (why some Ferrari fans said that the 2021 car was so "good") and both years Carlos has preformed very well. I'm pretty sure the Ferrari is also more closer to neutral than way too oversteery though (?). I don't know what Williams is cooking up, but their car has been more oversteer prone in the past few years.
Funny enough though, both Lance and Latifi (though he liked a more neutral setup) both prefere (d) a slightly more understeer car! George on the other hand, likes a more oversteery car.
Oh my god I love you (/p)
So we all agree the way that Alex was brought up through Red Bull was an absolute shit show and messed up what could have been an incredible entrance into F1? But it's really interesting how much a difference they have with how they like the cars set up! But actually, noticing that Max was on an extreme makes a lot of sense. Line I've said before, I am absolutely brain dead when it comes to the technical aspects of F1, but I notice things when it comes to how things react to their environments. I've seen the way the cars move as they go through turns and down straights, and Max really is on an extreme! And I saw it a bit with Fernando's older races before Alpine and Aston Martin, but I do see it with him in Aston right now. And Lewis too, I can see the difference in both driving styles and how the car handles certain areas in certain tracks compared to the Red Bull that Max drives in those same areas. And I know part of that has to do with how the cars are made differently, but there are still differences that can't be explained with that. Also, the fact that Alex is very neutral leaning makes a lot of sense, especially if you rewatch his overtake in Canada from this year! I really don't know how to explain it, but that moment shows it very well.
Yes, I think we don't have a huge well of knowledge on the status of each car because it's really relative to each driver, though I do agree with the bit about the corners from Logan's POV. It seemed so unwieldly! Like, my grandfather has an old while truck, it's one of the ones with a bench seat in the front, and it really is very old. I learned to initially drive in it, and it is so hard to deal with now compared to my parent's cars, which is what I'm learning to drive now (I'm a very late learner so it's just harder for me in general). I think it would be very interesting to have every driver on the grid try each other team's cars with the most basic configuration. I think that would be an amazing comparison!
Also, I'm so glad someone else noticed how much the pressure made logan so hesitant while driving! I heard a driver once say that hesitation on track was a one-way ticket to a crash or going off, so I agree with your point about his performance being affected by that pressure! Oh, and I am also so glad someone noticed the weight gain! It really shocked me how skinny Logan always seemed to be, and honestly, I was a bit concerned for a bit. I think there's a video on the Williams channel that is focused on Logan, and he mentions that he needed to focus on controlling how much he weighed because he was actually too skinny/underweight, and it could have affected his performance! Don't quote me on that, but it's either one of his training camp videos or is the team torque episode with him and his new trainer (Elias) and a football player. I think the weight he put on is great for him and I'm actually so happy! And as much as I hate to see it, I'm also thinking that part of his improvement is knowing he's basically out of the running for a seat and he's relieved he doesn't have to fight for one anymore. He knows he just has to give what is left his all, and he's willing to do that! I do really hope that he joins Prema in IndyCar, particularly because I can actually afford Indy tickets lol!
But I also agree that it's really funny that we see so many opposites within teams in regard to over vs. under steer preference! And now that we see that Williams has been more oversteer leaning, and we see that both Lance and Latifi prefer a more understeer leaning set up, it kind of explains their limited success at Williams, and why George did so well! We all know George put so much into Williams, and I am glad that it did him so well. It's going to be very interesting next year when we see how Carlos does, if Williams keeps on the oversteer leaning path!
You have been a delight to talk with and I am so glad you could give me so much information!

Medieval Scorpion Rating System
I was thinking last night that I wanted one of these if I'm going to be collecting images of medieval scorpions. Kind of idly considering it.
This morning, one of my mutuals tagged me in another picture of a medieval scorpion, and I thought I had better write something up if this is going to be a Thing. (I've spent too long teaching introductory composition classes to be comfortable scoring things without a rubric.*)
So. Medieval scorpions will be rated on Accuracy and Pleasantness. Accuracy is a checklist, Pleasantness is vibes. As follows.
Accuracy
Is it some kind of Small Scuttling BeaĹżtie? (1 point)
Does it have pincers? (1 point)
Does it have some sort of exoskeleton or shell? (1 point)
Does the tail have any kind of visible stinger? (1 point)
Limb count. (1 point)
As far as limb count goes, the target number is 10. I know that the pincers are pedipalps and don't really count as limbs -- or, rather, I'm pretty sure that's the case; I'm a medievalist, not an entomologist. I don't think medieval artists are going to recognize that, however: I'm pretty sure the scorpion's "eight legs and, separately, two claws" configuration would not strike them as meaningfully different from, e.g., the lobster's "ten legs, two of which are claws" setup. Also using 10 makes the math easier. So each scorpion starts with one point in this category, then I will subtract a tenth of a point for each leg/claw/limb under or over the target number.
Pleasantness
The key question is "how would I react to seeing it in person?" Scored out of five points on the following scale:
0: I will see this foul BeaĹżt only in my nightmares, gods willing.
1: Get it away from me immediately.
2: This thing is ugly as hell but not actively upsetting.
3: I don't want it in my house, but it is a perfectly fine BeaĹżt and I do not object to it. (This is where a regular scorpion scores.)
4: This is an aesthetically pleasing BeaĹżt and I would be thrilled to see it in person.
5: I would love it and squeeze it and call it George.
Penalties
Subtract one point for any of the following wild inaccuracies:
Wings
Obviously mammalian (requires fur and four legs to count)
This is identifiable as another, different real-world animal that is not a scorpion.
So there you go. I have a System now. And yes, I will take submissions of medieval scorpions -- tag me in a post or send it as an ask or something. (Please include the manuscript number or a link or something.) I'll also go back, rate the ones from the original effortpost, & throw those in the queue.
* "But Mac," you may say, "on the podcast you and Zoe regularly rate medieval stories, and I've never heard you mention a rubric there." If I had been smart, I would have made one when we started. I just feel like it's too late now, since we have dozens of stories that have been rated without a rubric. I'm not making that mistake again.

Duelpad Zen 16 Review: a carefully considered controller for fighters, rhythm games and more

by Amr (@siegarettes)
A review unit was provided by Duelpad for this review.
The Duelpad Zen 16 isn't going to surprise you. It's familiar in terms of features and build quality, and it easily fits in with the family of budget fighting game controllers saturating the market right now. It's the same acrylic sandwich design, with the same strip prone Chicago screws, running the same open source GP2040CE firmware.Â
What makes it stand out are the small details that show careful consideration. The corners have been extended to make room for your wrists, button rims surround the keycaps to create a feeling closer to traditional arcade buttons, without compromising the hot swap functionality. The OLED status screen sports a small navigation cluster that can be used to configure options without a computer, and it rocks a split layout with extra button placements that actually make sense.

The split layout is my personal headliner, combining a WASD style directional cluster, with a set of thumb buttons that make it a viable option not only as a fighting game controller, but a controller replacement.Â
GP2040CE supports up to 4 remappable layouts, so you can swap between layouts that support different games.
For 2D fighting games I keep the two large thumb buttons as jump, keeping the advantages of a traditional Hitbox layout, while allowing a more relaxed posture with more space between the movement and action buttons, and the smaller thumb buttons still free for extra functions.Â
For other games I leave the WASD cluster as my main movement, with the thumb buttons replacing the shoulder buttons, triggers, or thumbstick clicks, leaving the pinky column on the action buttons free for additional functions and modifiers.
For example, here I've mapped the thumb buttons to the shoulders and triggers, leaving the 4 face buttons in the first two columns, followed by the L3 and R3 buttons, with the pinky column used to switch the directionals to dpad and right stick movements.
It works for both 2D and 3D games, as long as they donât rely on the right stick for aiming or frequent camera adjustments.Â
In Mega Man 11 I used this setup to quickly switch weapons with the right stick, leaving two extra buttons available to map shortcut buttons. In DMC4 this allows me to quickly perform multi-button maneuvers while charging projectile weapons, and quickly adjust the camera or switch styles by using the modifiers.Â
You can even set up dual stick setups, for twin stick arcade games or rhythm games. In Project Diva you can mirror the WASD setup with the face buttons, while in Theatrhythm you can control both sticks on the action and movement buttons, with the thumb buttons available for drumming out notes.Â
Letâs talk about that OLED. These tiny screens are quickly becoming a killer feature of modern controllers, allowing you to easily check your buttons and settings. The Duelpad Zen takes this one step further and allows you to change the settings directly on the screen itself. What I initially assumed was an extra button turned out to be a full navigation cluster, allowing you to cycle through various settings from an on board menu, without the need to connect it to a computer. You can change the console mode, dpad settings, RGB lighting and even the extra button mappings through the menu, saving you from memorizing several shortcuts for each function.Â
In its current state, itâs unfortunately a bit finicky. At least with my configuration, the menu seems to only operate when Iâm in the first profile, and frequently freezes after swapping to another profile, until restarted. Â
On the opposite side of the menu are the RGB underglow controls. With them you can cycle through the various lighting modes, though they seem to be controlled separately from the rest of the controller, with no dynamic modes that react to button presses. The topside RGB can be controlled through the menu or web config, with a lot more flexibility for customization.Â
The problem is that these LEDs are blindingly bright, with even the lowest of the three settings being bright enough to distract you from your game. I canât see these as useful for anything except blinding your opponent.Â
In terms of other customization, the dense layout doesnât leave much room for art in the center, but the sides provide ample space for details. A paper layer is pre-installed in the controller, and makes a good template for cutting out your own art should you choose to do it by hand, like I did.Â
The Duelpad Zen 16 has plenty of small issues that give a sense of jank to whatâs otherwise a well considered device. But none of these issues got in the way when it was time to play. Setting up could be troublesome, but once I dialed in my settings and got into a game, the Zen was rarely less than a joy to play with.
The layout is well spaced and comfortable, the button rims add a sense of stability other controllers lack, and the quiet, fast response switches translated inputs with satisfying feedback. Whether I played fighting games, platformers, or rhythm games, the Zen felt up to the task. With its novel form factor and button layout, I can easily see it staying in my controller rotation, even with many more high end competitors.Â

August 19, 2024 | SDE
Today, I spent time polishing my knowledge (ExpoGo, Android Studio, React Native), focusing on refining the basics and getting more comfortable with the React Native framework. I also started to setup the workspace for our project, the "Digitized Log Book System for Small-scale Market Owners." VSCode will be our main coding environment, and Iâve started to configure it to suit our needs. Earlier, I also went through the asynchronous lessons shared by Sir Carl via Google Drive. It is about Software Engineering's codes and ethics, definition, tools, and SDLC. Every day brings new challenges, but also new learning opportunities. Iâm eager to keep pushing forward!

React JS
Component-Based Architecture:
React applications are built using components, which are reusable, self-contained pieces of the UI. Components can be nested, managed, and handled independently, leading to better maintainability and scalability.
JSX (JavaScript XML):
React uses JSX, a syntax extension that allows HTML to be written within JavaScript. This makes the code more readable and easier to write.
Virtual DOM:
React maintains a virtual DOM, an in-memory representation of the actual DOM. When the state of an object changes, React updates the virtual DOM and efficiently determines the minimal set of changes needed to update the real DOM, leading to performance improvements.
One-Way Data Binding:
Data flows in one direction, from parent to child components, which makes the data flow and logic easier to understand and debug.
State Management:
React components can maintain internal state, making it easy to build dynamic and interactive UIs. For more complex state management, libraries like Redux or Context API can be used.
Advantages of Using React
Performance:
Due to the virtual DOM, React minimizes direct manipulation of the DOM, resulting in better performance for dynamic applications.
Reusable Components:

The Complete Timeline of a Web Development Project, Explained
Building a professional website or web application isnât a one-week job. From planning and design to development and deployment, a successful project moves through multiple stagesâeach requiring time, collaboration, and precision.
Working with a Web Development Company helps streamline this timeline, but itâs still important for business owners and marketing teams to understand what happens behind the scenes. Whether you're launching a brand new website or rebuilding an existing one, hereâs a complete breakdown of the typical web development project timeline.
1. Discovery & Requirement Gathering (1â2 Weeks)
Every successful project starts with a solid foundation. In this initial phase, the development team learns about your business, audience, goals, and technical needs. It includes:
Stakeholder interviews
Competitor research
Target audience analysis
Site goals and KPIs
Content inventory
You may also receive a project brief or proposal outlining the scope, budget, timeline, and deliverables.
2. Planning & Strategy (1 Week)
Once the goals are set, the agency maps out a strategy for execution. This involves:
Information architecture (sitemap planning)
Feature prioritization
Tech stack decisions (CMS, frameworks, integrations)
Timeline finalization
This is also when timelines are broken down into milestones and dependencies.
3. UX Wireframing & UI Design (2â3 Weeks)
Before development begins, the design team translates ideas into wireframesâbasic layouts showing page structure and user flow. Once approved, they create high-fidelity UI designs, which reflect:
Brand identity and colour palette
Typography, buttons, and icon styles
Desktop and mobile responsiveness
Youâll typically review these designs through Figma or Adobe XD.
4. Front-End & Back-End Development (3â6 Weeks)
Once designs are locked, development begins. This is usually the most time-intensive phase and may include:
HTML/CSS/JavaScript coding for the front-end
Framework integration (React, Vue, Next.js, etc.)
Server-side logic, database setup, and CMS configuration
API development and third-party tool integration
Developers often work in sprints, especially for large projects.
5. Content Migration & SEO Optimization (1â2 Weeks)
If you're revamping an old website, content migration is a critical step. Even in new builds, SEO is baked in at this stage:
Migrating blog posts, media, and product pages
Adding meta tags, alt text, canonical URLs
URL mapping and redirection strategy
Page speed improvements and schema markup
Good agencies align this with SEO goals to prevent traffic loss post-launch.
6. Quality Assurance (QA) & Testing (1â2 Weeks)
Before going live, the site is tested across:
Browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge)
Devices (desktop, mobile, tablet)
Screen sizes and resolutions
Functionality (forms, login, search, checkout, etc.)
Agencies also perform performance testing, accessibility audits, and security reviews at this stage.
7. Client Review & Final Revisions (1 Week)
Once QA is complete, the client is invited to review the staging site. This is your opportunity to:
Test the site internally
Flag any issues or edits
Ensure all content is accurate and brand-aligned
A final round of tweaks is made based on feedback before moving to deployment.
8. Deployment & Launch (1â3 Days)
When everything is greenlit, the website goes live. This involves:
DNS updates and domain pointing
Hosting configuration and SSL setup
Backend logins and access control
Real-time analytics and conversion tracking setup
A soft launch or phased rollout may be used to reduce risk.
9. Post-Launch Support & Maintenance (Ongoing)
Your relationship with the development team doesnât end at launch. Ongoing services include:
Bug fixes and patch updates
CMS training and admin access
Plugin and theme updates
Security monitoring and backups
Performance optimization
Some companies also offer retainers for regular content updates or feature enhancements.
Conclusion
From discovery to deployment, a web development project can take anywhere from 6 to 12 weeks depending on complexity, content readiness, and collaboration speed. When planned properly, each phase builds on the last to deliver a site that performs, converts, and scales with your business.
Partnering with a Web Development Company ensures each stage is handled by expertsâreducing delays, avoiding common pitfalls, and launching a product that aligns with your goals from day one.

Discover the Power and Innovation Behind Flux Guns Firearm Solutions
In an era where firearm innovation continues to evolve rapidly, Flux Guns stands out as a game-changing name in the world of tactical and self-defense solutions. Known for pushing the boundaries of firearm performance, this cutting-edge brand has redefined how modern users interact with personal defense systems. Whether you're a law enforcement professional, a military operator, or a civilian enthusiast, Flux Guns offers a powerful combination of design, utility, and innovation that is hard to overlook.
A New Era of Firearm Design
At the heart of Flux Gunsâ philosophy is a commitment to enhancing existing firearm platforms rather than reinventing the wheel. Their most well-known product, the Flux Defense brace system, exemplifies this approach. By integrating a rapid deployment mechanism and superior ergonomics into a compact form factor, this system transforms standard sidearms into highly efficient personal defense weapons (PDWs).
Unlike traditional add-ons, Flux solutions are engineered with user adaptability in mind. They allow seamless integration without compromising mobility or concealability, which is critical in high-stress environments. It's not just about adding attachmentsâit's about making the weapon more effective and intuitive.
Built for Performance and Speed
One of the biggest advantages of Flux firearm solutions is speed. From deployment to engagement, every feature is designed to reduce reaction time. For instance, the spring-loaded brace deployment system allows the user to extend the stabilizer in a fraction of a secondâan innovation that can mean the difference between success and failure in tactical scenarios.
Additionally, the unique configurations reduce recoil and improve handling, giving users better control over rapid fire and precision shots. This is particularly beneficial for law enforcement personnel and home defenders who need to act swiftly and decisively.
Lightweight and Modular Innovation
Flux Guns are also lauded for their attention to weight and modularity. Constructed from aerospace-grade aluminum and durable polymer materials, their systems are built to last without adding significant weight. This balance between strength and agility makes them ideal for field operations where every ounce and inch count.
Modular designs further allow users to configure their weapons according to their unique preferences. From tactical lights to optics and sling mounts, customization options are vastâgiving each user the freedom to adapt their gear to specific missions or everyday carry needs.
Elevating Safety and Control
One of the lesser-discussed but equally vital aspects of Fluxâs designs is the enhanced safety features. Better stabilization translates to better shot placement, which in turn leads to safer outcomes, especially in crowded or high-risk environments. Additionally, the systems promote two-handed firing stability, reducing the margin for error even among less experienced users.
By focusing on human factors engineering, Flux ensures that each product feels like a natural extension of the userâs bodyâintuitive, responsive, and safe.
Why Flux Guns Matter Today
In todayâs complex world, where threats can arise unexpectedly, the ability to react with speed and precision is more crucial than ever. Flux Guns represents a modern approach to self-defenseâone that acknowledges the need for compact, powerful, and reliable tools. Their solutions bridge the gap between sidearm portability and rifle-level control, offering a new standard in personal security.
As tactical environments continue to evolve, Flux Gunsâ commitment to innovation ensures they remain ahead of the curve. Whether you're looking to upgrade your existing setup or explore cutting-edge advancements in firearm technology, Flux offers solutions that are as practical as they are powerful.
By embracing forward-thinking design, speed, and modularity, Flux Guns has carved a niche thatâs resonating across the defense and firearms community. Itâs more than a brandâitâs a revolution in how we think about and use our weapons in critical situations.

How Hiring a Jest Developer Boosts Your Productâs Test Coverage by 40%

In the agile development cycles of today, delivering confidently is more important than releasing quickly. Automated testing is one of the best ways to accomplish that. Many developers that work with React and contemporary JavaScript stacks now choose Jest, a robust JavaScript testing framework. In order to improve test coverage, identify defects early, and guarantee more seamless deployments, more tech organizations are opting to hire Jest developers.
Hiring a Jest expert could increase product stability and drastically reduce release timelines if your team is having trouble with faulty tests, inadequate coverage, or drawn-out QA cycles.
Strengthen Code Quality and Ship Faster with Better Testing Strategies
Letâs first understand the reasoning behind choosing Jest.Â
Jest is renowned for its ease of use, quickness, and integrated mocking features. It was developed by Meta and is best suited for unit testing TypeScript and JavaScript applications, particularly React applications. Jest facilitates rapid feedback loops, code coverage tracking, and snapshot testing with no setup and a robust ecosystem.
Hiring Jest developers adds a person who is capable of:
Creating test suites that are dependable and manageable.
Boosting code coverage without reducing development speed.
Including tests in pipelines for CI and CD.
Identifying edge cases that are frequently overlooked.
Itâs time to now get to specifics.
How a Jest Developer Can Boost Test Coverage by 40%
Developers write tests on the fly for the majority of development teams. However, test coverage frequently stagnates in the absence of adequate concentration. You can increase total coverage by 30â40% by having a professional Jest developer examine your current test suite, find gaps, and rewrite any weak or missing tests.
By establishing reusable patterns, checking pull requests for test completion, and mentoring others on best practices, they also enhance the team's testing culture. This results in more stable releases, agile development cycles, and fewer hotfixes for tech corporations.
Skills to Look for When You Hire Jest Developers
A competent Jest developer should know how to:
React with JavaScript/TypeScript (or comparable frontend frameworks)
Creating integration, snapshot, and unit tests
Mocking APIs and testing asynchronous code
Configuring test environments and coverage thresholds
Using CI systems (such as GitHub Actions and CircleCI) and tools like ESLint and Prettier
Bonus points are awarded for knowledge of testing libraries such as Cypress for end-to-end testing or the React Testing Library.
Collaborating Across Teams
Jest developers frequently collaborate closely with DevOps, frontend, and backend engineers. Make sure that everyone on your team is aware of the testing documents and standards if you intend to hire software developers in addition to QA-focused engineers.
Nowadays, a lot of tech organizations hire for hybrid roles, where a developer adds long-term value with each sprint by contributing to both core features and test coverage.
Use an IT Staffing Agency to Speed Up Hiring
There is a demand for Jest competence. By collaborating with an IT staffing agency, you can access a talent pool that has already been thoroughly screened. Agencies often have access to candidates that are experienced working with elite product teams and have an understanding of both speed and quality.
This method helps you scale your engineering team with a proper testing mindset while saving time on screening.
Summing Up
Future hours can be saved by investing in test automation now. By hiring Jest developers, you're doing more than just filling a position; you're strengthening your codebase, increasing team confidence, and providing users with better products. Smart testing is a competitive advantage for contemporary tech companies, not a luxury.
