"Okay, wait—Let me get this straight.” Karina chimed in, putting a pause to your rambling. The small friend group transferred their focus to her as she spoke. “You’re thinking about getting back together? This would be what, your third time?”

You sighed, nodding to respond. Winter snickered as Karina groaned, “What were you expecting? That girl really has a hold on her.” The puppy grabbed your shoulder and gave you an understanding look, which you appreciated. It was nice being around your closest friends in a relatively empty cafe, the only other people being busy students.

“I know, but come onnnnn…”

“Hey, it’s better than that time I was dating that really toxic guy. You all remember that era.” Giselle shrugged and the others nodded. It was a crazy time hearing about the shit she was going through, and you were glad she made it out of there. You still vividly remember the day Karina went into a screaming match with the asshole for making her best friend cry. “Tough times.”

Ningning thought to herself for a moment, and everyone waited for her to say her opinion on your situation. “Well, I have to admit…” Karina hoped that the girl would be on her side to balance it all out. “She is hot.”

The girl facepalmed and pouted to herself, everyone seeming to be ganging up against her. “Seriously! You guys don’t think that twice is enough? It’s bound to happen again after this, it’s in the pattern.” Karina reasoned, and you were hearing out her concerns.

“We weren’t official yet! Yeah we probably will stop seeing each other before things get serious, I’ll be honest, but if that means getting to be with her one more time, I’ll do it.” You smiled thinking about her, and the rest of the group pretended to be sick at your cheesiness. They were always sick of your lovesick expressions anyway, so nothing new.

Winter shook her head disappointingly. “I stick up for you, yet you make us suffer with these stupid confessions. Maybe I’ll switch over to the dark side.”

“Dark side? Excuse me? More like a realistic side.” Karina fought.

Giselle rolled her eyes. “Who really cares about being realistic these days?” She clapped her hands together and shifted her eyes to you, her orbs glimmering with hope. “Please tell me she’s attending that little house party you’re throwing.”

You fought the grin that was oncoming, but it showed anyway. “Yes, oh my god. She’s coming, I invited her, I totally forgot!”

“She’s so fun to be around, you can’t lie, Rina.” Giselle nudged the pouty girl.

She sighed and put her hands up in the air as if to surrender. “Fine, I’ll give you that. She’s a nice person with a fun personality, yeah, whatever.”

“Okay, fine, trust me this time. I will not give into the voices in my head. There will be no break up number three, I promise!”

And god did you regret those words as you stared at the new arrivals to the function, the prettiest girl shining through the little crowd swarming your downstairs. Kang Seulgi—wearing the brightest pink you’d ever seen in the form of a crop top that showed way too much skin and miniskirt—had come a little later than the others. Her dark hair was styled in waves, and her makeup defined those perfectly sculpted features of hers.

Giselle, who held a small cup of water, smirked as she caught sight of your girl as well. “Good luck keeping that promise.” You whined as you dragged your hands across your face, the desire to have Seulgi so overwhelming. Your friend gave a hearty laugh, hitting your shoulder. “You’re hopeless. Well, I’m gonna go find the rest of us. If you don’t want her, I’ll take her!”

You turned to glare at her as she walked away after that stupid joke. You whispered under your breath, ‘I do want her, you just won’t let me have her…’, and crossed your arms. So much for having good friends. They wouldn’t even stay and keep you company. Tsk.

“Y/n?”

The small voice and the tap on your shoulder caused you to spin around as fast as possible. Suddenly, you were in a trance, your eyes focused on that adorable smile. “Hi.” You watched her lips move, the sound of her speaking as smooth as honey.

“H-Hi,” You cursed yourself mentally, your cheeks reddening as you stuttered. Your eyes met hers as you cleared your throat. “Seulgi. Hi, Seulgi.”

ARGH, Why are you doing that?!

The girl giggled at your unusual behavior. “Nervous?” Seulgi questioned, but all you could do was shrug with a shy expression. “But it’s just me, don’t be so nervous.”

Her hand landed on your arm, an electric current running through your body at the touch. As much as you tried not to, you tensed up. Who let her look this good? And why was this look affecting you to this extent? You were barely functioning just looking at her. She rubbed your arm to comfort you, but you could only bite your cheek and lean into the feeling.

“I’m not nervous, who said nervous? I didn’t!” You sounded like a total idiot, so you tried to change the topic. “You, uh—look so pretty tonight, I mean, you always look really pretty all the time, not just right now. But you do look pretty right now, like you always do.”

Fuck.

Seulgi smiled sweetly. “Thank you.” She took her hand away and looked at your entire figure. You felt a bit warm under her gaze, but you were certainly not prepared for her to throw you into an embrace, her arms wrapped around your torso. You were sure that she could feel your heart jumping out of your chest. “I missed you. You never texted.”

Neither did you…

“Sorry, I’ve been a bit busy.” You explained, finally reciprocating her hug. She hummed in your arms, squishing into you as much as possible.

“Too busy for me?” Seulgi teasingly asked, but you knew she was being a bit genuine. She was a fan of receiving attention, particularly yours. You managed to inhale her perfume, her scent invading your olfactory senses. It was so sweet—maybe some trace of a fruit you couldn’t name—but all you could think about was how she left that same smell all over your bedroom when she was last over, the scent still lingering as of now.

You felt her cling onto you, making you realize that she had been waiting for an actual answer. “No, never too busy for you. You know that well.” You felt her cheek against your chest tense as her smile grew in size. The mountain you were trying to climb out of must’ve been 200 feet tall, and there was no chance of you making it. There was no getting over these feelings for the bear.

She pulled away reluctantly, teasing her hair by playing with the ends. “Thirsty?”

Thirsty…for other things.

You bit your cheek at the intrusive thought and shook your head. “I’m fine. How about you? You can grab something from the table I set up.”

Seulgi took a peek over your shoulder at the slightly crowded area and shrugged. “Okay!” You were expecting her to go off on her own similarly to Giselle, but she pulled you along by the arm. You just followed her obediently, your mind stuck on how soft her palms were.

The area was clear enough for you both to get drinks comfortably as the clump of people began to move toward the living room. Seulgi grabbed a cup and put a finger to her bottom lip to think—probably thinking of what to choose.

On the other hand, you were thinking about how soft her lips must be. You recalled her always wearing that strawberry chapstick after you stated it tasted good on her, so you wondered if she tasted like strawberries. You are going to fail...

You caught a glimpse of your friends from behind her and they all gave knowing looks, all except Karina. She looked a bit bothered, although she was still listening to whatever Ningning was whispering into her ear. You knew that they were trying to see if you could stick to the promise you had made leading up to the party, and if they were in your head, they’d see how poorly you were doing.

“Y/n?” You looked back to the bear, who had been looking at you. She saw you eyeing the space behind her, so instinctively, she turned. The moment she spotted your friends, she waved. They all waved back with a smile except—of course—Karina. You were starting to worry about her little vendetta against Seulgi.

Seulgi abandoned her empty cup and grabbed your arm once more, pulling you along as she walked over to them. Giselle and Winter gave each other a look you knew too well and you shot a piercing glare. Glaring at them was going to be your most repeated action, yet it did nothing as they snickered to themselves. “Hello! It’s been a while since I’ve seen you guys. How are you?” Seulgi questioned to spark a conversation while she brushed her hair back behind her shoulder.

Ningning saw how the girl’s hand stayed latched onto your wrist and smirked. “Oh, we’re all doing well. Just enjoying our time here. What about you? Enjoying yourself?” You mouthed curses at the girl as her teasing was so obvious.

Thankfully, you were standing beside the most oblivious bear ever. “Yeah! I always enjoy being at Y/n’s place. Feels like a second home.”

Karina rolled her eyes and clicked her tongue. You chose to ignore her behavior as she was going to be stubborn about this like how she was generally in everything. Giselle raised both eyebrows to Seulgi, “Second home, huh? That’s cute. Would you still consider it your second home after everything?”

The grip on your wrist tightened and you automatically knew Seulgi must’ve felt a bit uncomfortable by the teasing. She wasn’t used to the kind of jokes those three would make, so you understood. You looked at the girl, who was still wearing a smile—though it failed to reach her eyes. “Seulgi,” You cut in, stealing away her gaze. “I wanted to show you the mini farm I started in my yard. You’ll love it.”

“Okay, let’s go.” Seulgi was a bit puzzled by the change of scenery, but took the chance to get away. You gave an annoyed look at your friends, and they knew you’d go off on them later.

It was your turn to lead the girl as you made your way to the back door, allowing her to step out first. The night breeze was calming and you felt the stress leave your body. Seulgi seemed to do the same, but a chill ran down her back at the same time. Her long sleeves defended her arms from the cold, but with the amount of skin she was showing, it didn’t change much.

“Are you cold? I can run in and grab my jacket off the couch.”

Seulgi shook her head and smiled. “No, it’s okay. Thank you though.” She instead stuck out her hand. “Will you just hold my hand?”

You could’ve sworn her words were about to make your head explode. “Y-Yeah.” You got a hold of her soft hand, and it was like your heat was transferring at the connection. “Better?”

“Much better.” She nodded cutely. “How about you show me that garden now?”

“Right. This way!” You walked a bit on your concrete patio before landing in front of a small dirt square held in by four planks of wood. “I built this a bit ago and I’ve planted some green onions. I was trying to come up with some other things I could grow, but nothing came to mind.”

“How about tomatoes?”

You thought about it. “Well, I don’t really eat tomatoes.”

"Cabbage?"

"I don't eat enough cabbage to want it in my garden." You explained.

"Carrots?"

"Oh, maybe." You mentally noted that. You looked to her and your eyes met.

“Do you still think of me?”

The abrupt question surprised you. ��W-What?”

Seulgi saw how you reacted and took it negatively. “Sorry—I just,” She sighed. “I thought about what Giselle said, and yes. The answer is yes, I still think of this place, your place, as my second home.” The girl let go of your hand and held herself. “I don’t expect you to still want me. We've already kinda broken it off twice. I mean, we ended things maybe a month or two ago and a lot of things can happen in that time.”

“Like what? Me finding someone else?” Seulgi stayed silent and you knew you were right. You grabbed her shoulders and forced her to face you, her eyes locking in with yours. “Seulgi, you truly underestimate how you make me feel. Honestly, all I can think about is how I want to just keep you in my pocket forever.” The girl giggled and bit her lip.

“You came today looking…how you looked,” You blushed as she raised one eyebrow, smirking at your admission to being affected by her new style. “And I couldn’t help myself. I want you, Seulgi. I need you. If you let me, I’ll give you everything I’ve been saving just for you.”

Seulgi melted at your charming words, running on a high that seemed to never end with you. “But what about your friends? They don’t seem to like me much anymore, especially Karina.”

You could only groan. “They do like you—maybe not as much as I do, but they do. Karina is a bit difficult, but she means well. We’re all the closest thing to being sisters, so it’s natural for her to act out when things happen.” Seulgi nodded understanding and opened her arms.

You looked at her confused, but she kept her arms like that, waiting patiently. “Can you hug me?” She motioned for you to get in, and you audibly said ‘oh’, running into her arms. Her classic bear hug made that sensation in your stomach return, the one you had grown familiar with around her. This hug was much different than the one from earlier. You were no longer scared or nervous—well, not nearly as much as you were previously.

You held her by her waist, pulling her impossibly close. The touch of her skin ignited a fire in your heart, and you smiled unconsciously. “Am I keeping you warm?” Seulgi only nodded into your shoulder, enjoying the close proximity. “So, what do you think, Kang? Round three?”

“How about we just get straight to it? No more playing around.” She held onto you like you would leave her there at any moment. Thank the heavens that her face was tucked into your neck, or else she would’ve seen you grin like an idiot.

You toyed with the hem of her skirt and hummed, her fingers clutching at the fabric of your shirt. “No more playing around. I’m breaking promises here.” She pushed you back enough to see your face.

Seulgi’s eyes fell to your lips as she smiled, and you weren’t given a chance to comment before she leaned in for her target. The moment her lips met yours, you both shut your eyes, the kiss you shared so tender and full of pent up emotions. She brought her hands up and held your face, holding you still as she intensified the moment. The way she moved against you felt right, and you could only stabilize yourself using her hips, keeping a tight grip on her. You allowed her to lead—though it was more like she took lead because you were too busy folding over her.

She broke contact to breathe, her eyes staying on your lips for a moment before shifting back to your eyes. Your mind and heart were screaming at you, but you could only focus on how pretty she looked like this. Without realizing, you licked your lips and tasted something sweet. “Strawberry…” Seulgi’s face turned a shade of red as you mentioned her chapstick flavor, hitting your shoulder lightly.

“Dummy.”

“Yup, told you.” Giselle stuck her hand out. “Give me my five bucks.”

Winter rolled her eyes. “Sorry for giving our friend a chance. Plus, who carries cash anyways?”

“I can’t believe you guys turned this into a game.” Karina crossed her arms and clicked her tongue in annoyance, but the corner of her mouth twitched.

“Stop acting like that. You’re babying us again.” Ningning argued, offending the oldest. “And don’t pretend, you found that kiss hot too.”

“God, Ning, you’re just a perv!” Giselle chortled as she pushed her younger friend. Ningning didn’t care, she was just being honest, a silly grin displayed as she shrugged.

“You guys are so weird…I’ll be upstairs playing with Y/n’s stuffed animals.” Winter announced as she began making her way to the staircase.

Giselle chased after her. “Hey, you scam artist! Give me my cash!” The puppy stuck her tongue out and booked it, forcing the other to run as well.

Karina turned to make fun of them with Ningning, but the girl was too busy playing with the real puppy on the floor, the small dog sitting adorably with a smile. The oldest could only sigh and walk over to some mutual friends who were chatting away.

She wasn’t too bothered anyway, no one truly believed you would make it through the night because you had it so bad. All she could really do was support you, and she knew you and Seulgi would make it work. After all, you don’t wanna break up again.
