Same anon as last time but in Shroud you Savior I just imagine after Wilbur becomes better friends with Tommy the teen still treats him just as carefully as when they first met. Tommy is just in awe at the tiny man and wouldn’t dream of doing anything to hurt him.

Wilbur actually hates how careful Tommy is because he feels guilty seeing him constantly walk on eggshells (he also doesn’t like the constant reminders of how small and how fragile it makes him feel).

Maybe one day Wilbur snaps at Tommy and finally tells him how he feels. After that Tommy is still careful…just not as much.

Eventually that could lead to Wilbur possibly getting hurt because Tommy wasn’t as careful (which would lead to enormous guilt from Tommy) or maybe Tommy gets hurt saving Wilbur and Wilbur feels so guilty because he’s older and the teen got hurt because of him and he can’t even help-

yes there is so much miscommunication between the two of them after everything. tommy doesn't want to dehumanize him or baby him by making things extra easy or being extra gentle, it's just instinct. he's always been fond of the things people don't really like because he can relate to them so now he's got wilbur and just wants to make sure everything goes well

meanwhile wilbur is independent. he enjoys socializing and being around people, but for the most part he hates how tommy has ruined the flow of his solo lifestyle. and part of him does want to show appreciation but he can't help but be angry about it

and yeah like you said it's also guilt, because he knows he overreacted during the whole bookshelf incident and he saw up and over tommy's intentions and feels too embarrassed to say anything after realizing that

ooo i LOVE the idea of that like genuinely cause tommy doesn't understand. why would someone who (in his eyes) can barely fend for himself in a human world not want assistance with the little things? he supposes in some angle he feels the same way but it feels different when it's wilbur

i can see wilbur snapping when tommy's maybe helping him get food and/or making him food. wilbur just casually mentions "i can get my own food, i've been doing that for years" but it comes off pretty harsh. tommy feels bad but tries to back off

and GOOD GOD THE BIG BRAIN IN THAT LAST PARAGRAPH!! it would be such a repeat of the bookshelf incident where wilbur's conflicting emotions make him call for tommy again. this time tommy'd probably be more hesitant or maybe he'd even try to learn wilbur's schedule to make sure he's not in the room when wil's out borrowing just so it doesn't look like he's being overbearing or nosy. so naturally that happens. i have one idea that i won't spoil but it's along the lines of this 😉

and as for tommy getting hurt. shit man. love it. wilbur would be guilty as hell and of course tend to the human the best he can, but while doing so he gets some kind of feeling that makes him realize why tommy was so careful with him. it's a good feeling to help someone get better or scold them for being unsafe or protect them because it shows how much someone cares for you. cue a wilbur apology :)
