As someone who stopped watching Supernatural because I couldn’t stomach the way Sam was treated by the show and loud portions of the fanbase, it’s been really lovely to listen to your podcast. It’s been so nice to listen to others who really understand him and the story, it reminds me of how much I love Sam and the early seasons. Thanks so much for doing this!
I cannot begin to tell you how much this message, and honestly all other messages/comments, have meant to us. We love Supernatural and Sam so much and this podcast is genuinely a love letter to Sam, to Jared's hard work, but especially to fans like us who needed a space where Sam was discussed and appreciated in the ways we know he deserves!
Tomorrow we're recording the final episode of S1 but I'm already so excited to continue to S2. We have a lot of little goodies planned for our listeners to go along with the next season, which we'll probably start recording in the fall.
We're trying to put some Patreon tiers together that will provide early releases, extra content, listener write-in discussions, a Sam-fan-centric community, and much more! For now the Retrospective email is posted on our IG: [email protected]. If you have feedback, questions, or just thoughts on current pod episodes, feel free to reach out. Just put in the subject line what you're reaching out about. We may use them on later email bonus write-in episodes or possibly even at the beginning of some S1 episodes yet to be posted!
As long as you guys want to hear our takes, we'll be giving them. God knows there is an endless amount of content to work through with Supernatural! We cannot thank you and anyone who listens enough for letting us share the podcast with you!
Love,
-Audree, @peanutbutterandbananasandwichs, @agelade, @geekinthejeep, & @themegalosaurus 💕

The GOP insurrection continues today.
Of course if the architects of the insurrection in 2021 were fully brought to justice we might not be here.

Tea on dog trainer infighting??? What is Zak's problem w Denise??? Dog training discourse is super interesting to me but I only know a couple big names like Victoria Stillwell and Cesar milan
Zak is super super hardline positive reinforcement, and while Denise trains her dogs very force free (or perhaps LIMA - im not sure how she describes herself, i dont think she likes labels because they don't really allow much nuance) she is tolerant of others who may be more 'balanced' and use adversives/tools such as prong collars or e collars.
for some context Denise has been training her dogs **in bitesports** force free/LIMA/without adversives for a very long time, starting when that was really rare in that particular sport. so its like fucking crazy to me that zak is so mad at her about it when she is **doing the work** and has been for SOME time now. she is interested in doing right by people and dogs and believes dogs should not be valued higher than people (like, for an instance she described on her podcast, guilting working families into getting an anxious rescue dog as opposed to a stable dog from a breeder, just to save a shelter dog)
i think the most recent Instance was Denise talking openly about this study in stopping dogs from chasing cars where the researches tried various methods include painful aversives. havent read the study so IDK exactly but i assume thats whats up. basically shes doing thoughtcrimes ooooo

It's week 2 of A Sam Girl Retrospective and this week your host, Audree, is joined by guest host, Vic (@peanutbutterandbananasandwichs)! They discuss the next two epsiodes of season 1 and all the wonderful elements that make the early seasons so special. Be sure to find visuals for this episode on our Instagram, including graphics showing the break down of how we rate these episodes.
Acknowledgement: Episode 2 of Supernatural does deal with a creature from indigenous lore and we want to be sensitive to that. I've included a link discussing how to be respectful if writing your own story, should you decide to include one. We also want to acknowledge that the show may not have been as sensitive in how it included this creature, so I've added a chapter break in case anyone would like to skip past our discussion straight to "Dead In the Water."
E2 discussion begins at 9:10 E3 discussion begins at 43:16
Thank you to Tumblr user eruthiawenluin for talking through concerns about this with us! We definitely want the podcast to be accessible to everyone.

I’m sorry :/ it is a cult and it’s also pretty imperative to get him out because they typically want people to all move into the same house :(. Here’s an NYT article that can clarify things and talks about one person’s experience with it: https://www.nytimes.com/2024/05/22/us/hare-krishna-yoga-justine-payton.html?smid=nytcore-ios-share&referringSource=articleShare&sgrp=c-cb
TY! idk how to get him out bc he's been in it for years but it's gotten worse lately. My mom agrees with me but my parents r divorced so I think maybe I'd try my grandma who's Christian and doesn't really approve? He's pretty much stopped doing stuff that isn't either work or Krishna related and we don't even hang out anymore bc he doesn't watch movies or tv

The White House just announced that President Biden has contacted COVID. I wish him a speedy and complete recovery. Because the President has been fully vaccinated (and because he has access to levels of health care few of the rest of us enjoy), he is likely to be well again soon. But even a mild or asymptomatic case can lead to Long-COVID, and we should be protecting ourselves and each other from catching this corona virus and possibly developing a permanent, debilitating condition.
Apoorva Mandavilli, writing for the _New YorkTimes_, reminds us that “for some people with certain risk factors — age, pregnancy, chronic conditions or a compromised immune system — an infection may bring serious illness.”1
If you want to know what it’s like to live with a post-viral chronic illness, read the Tumblrs of people enduring them (see the tags below), particularly those of us living with myalgic encephalomyelitis (me/cfs), the condition closely aligned with Long-COVID. (“The illness [Long COVID] is similar to myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome [ME/CFS] as well as to persisting illnesses that can follow a wide variety of other infectious agents and following major traumatic injury.”2) And while some of us are more susceptible than others, ANYONE, no matter how young and healthy, can develop Long-haul COVID:
“Long COVID occurs more often in people who had severe COVID-19 illness, but anyone who gets COVID-19 can experience it, including children.”3
The CDC article also highlights the way that “Living with Long COVID can be difficult and isolating, especially when there are no immediate answers or solutions.” It does not describe the devastating possible “side effects” of losing the ability to work, to enjoy activities, to be independent, nor of the experiences of having doctors refuse to believe one’s condition is real, of the near-impossibility of getting to a doctor who specializes in post-viral diseases (and who won’t accept insurance)4, nor of the feeling of being an inconvenience or burden to those who care for us.
“In every age group, even a mild illness may trigger a lasting set of problems. Nearly 14 million Americans, or about 5.3 percent of adults, may now be living with long Covid, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.”1
Wearing an N95 might not be the most comfortable fashion accessory, but putting one on when we will be among others can save lives and the meaningful existence of the people with whom we come in contact. The inconvenience is far less than the loss of income, health, and happiness Long-COVID can bring.

The Real Trump Mystery
“Interestingly, though, ‘feelings of animosity toward Democratic groups do not predict favorability toward the Republican Party, Paul Ryan or Mitch McConnell,’ Mason, Wronski and Kane wrote. Instead, ‘Trump support is uniquely predicted by animosity toward marginalized groups in the United States.’”
