Sam Mendes partners with Sony and Apple for Four Beatle Theatrical Movies
Today it was announced that Oscar-winning director Sam Mendes will be directing four movies about The Beatles, each one about the individual Fab Four: John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr. Sir Paul, Sir Ringo and the estates of Lennon and Harrison have granted life rights and music rights to the scripted films. As a lifelong Beatle fanatic (I just named "Now and Then" my #1 Song of 2023 last week) this peaked my interest!
Mendes is a solid director. I was a big fan of American Beauty, Road to Perdition, Jarhead, Away We Go, 1917 and Empire of Light. So I'm confident he's going to do the right thing and not mess this up. There's been quite a few Beatle documentaries in recent years notably Peter Jackson's The Beatles: Get Back. But in terms of a scripted film about The Beatles' that's been easier said than done over the years. There have been a number of TV movies about the individual Beatles, but theatrically it's been few and far between. There's been loads of films inspired by The Beatles, i.e. Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band, Across the Universe, and Yesterday. One of the great films about Beatle-mania (not so much The Beatles themselves but the fans) was I Wanna Hold Your Hand. The best one about Lennon was Nowhere Boy, in which Aaron Johnson played Lennon as a teen. One of my favorites about The Beatles is Backbeat about their early days in Hamburg, mainly the relationship between Lennon (Ian Hart) and Stu Sutcliffe (Stephen Dorf). Paul, George and Pete Best were also portrayed in the film too, but very minor roles outside of the performances.
Bottom line: getting the life rights and music rights to The Beatles is a serious get, which is why is hasn't been done too often, done right, or they tried to do it without the music. I think if each movies is going to be each Beatles' story with their own POV of what happened that could really work, especially for a director like Mendes!
Oh and Mr. Mendes - if you need a consultant for any of these films, feel free to contact me!

Canadian police arrested eight teenage girls who know each other through social media for allegedly "swarming" a homeless man on the streets of Toronto and brutally stabbing him to death.
Three 13-year-old girls, three 14-year-old girls, and two 16-year-old girls have each been charged with second-degree murder in the deadly stabbing of a 59-year-old man living in the homeless shelter system shortly after midnight Sunday, according to an announcement by the Toronto Police Service on Tuesday.
Police withheld the names of the eight minor suspects under Canada’s Youth Criminal Justice Act, which prevents their publication. The name of the victim was initially held pending next of kin notification.
At a press conference Tuesday, Det. Sgt. Terry Browne of the Homicide and Missing Persons Unit declined to describe the group of girls as a gang, saying they carried out a "swarming-type behavior."
TWO ARRESTED AT NYC COUNCILMAN'S APARTMENT IN ‘GAYS AGAINST GROOMERS’ PROTEST OVER DRAG QUEEN STORY HOUR
"From what we gathered so far, is that they met each other through social media. They come from varying parts of the city. That’s to say they’re not from one specific geographic location. We don’t know how or why they met on that evening or why the destination was downtown Toronto," Browne said. "We don’t know how long they’ve been acquainted together with each other. But I wouldn’t describe them as a gang at this point."
"What they are alleged to have occurred that evening would be consistent with what we would traditionally call a swarming or a swarming-type behavior," he added.
A Toronto resident, the victim had only been living in the shelter system since late fall of this year.
"He does have a very supportive family in the area, so I wouldn't necessarily call him homeless, maybe just recently on some hard luck," Browne said.
Three of the suspects have had prior contact with Toronto Police Services, but the other five had no prior contact with police whatsoever, Browne said. "A number of weapons" were secured from the girls at the time of arrest, Browne added, declining to go into more details at that time.
At approximately 12:17 a.m. Sunday, police responded to a call for an assault in the York Street and University Avenue area. Emergency medical personnel were initially flagged down by a group of individuals reporting the stabbing. The man was transported to the hospital by medics with life-threatening injuries. He was pronounced dead a short time later at the hospital. The eight teen girls were subsequently arrested nearby, police said.
They appeared at Old City Hall for a 10 a.m. court hearing later Sunday and remanded into custody. Their next court appearance is scheduled for Dec. 29. Police are seeking assistance from anyone who had contact with the suspects that night and are trying to obtain for any video surveillance footage that might have captured the brutal attack.
The  suspects are believed to have first arrived in the area around 10:30 p.m. Saturday and are believed to have been involved in an earlier altercation in the time leading up to the fatal stabbing.

Time Fracture
The interactive adventure is honestly quite tangential.
Due to the nature of this event, every showing will be somewhat different, and the attendees are split across several routes, I'm unsure how many, after the prologue portion.
A book I received with my VIP pass includes two documents, one a letter to you from The Doctor, saying that you have done this multiple times, and to look out for those who are on their first journey. The other is a formal letter from Kate Lethbridge-Stewart, explaining the appearance of the Time Fracture in WW2, and the history of it.
Prologue
The volunteers are welcomed to UNIT HQ, the site of Operation Time Fracture by UNIT soldiers and a number of scientists, including Drs Courtney and Yates from the Field logs, as well as Drs Sullivan, Leeson and Shaw. The volunteers are welcomed into the hub, where Courtney's Portal Stabilisation Gateway is being readied for a test run, the plan is to send 2 volunteers through the Time Fracture, to 1940, and discover the Time Destructor hypothesised to be responsible for the Fracture opening.
In the Black Archive, Dr Shaw tells a group of volunteers that they believe the Time Fracture actually originated in the future, and asks their help in convincing the others to change Operation Time Fracture's parameters.
In addition, one(?) volunteer can be contacted by Davros and given a device to help him invade Gallifrey.
A video message from Kate Stewart plays, outlining the mission, and as preparations are made to open the Time Fracture for the chosen volunteers to start their journey, Daleks suddenly attack UNIT HQ. Most of the scientists go to fight them off and are exterminated, while Dr. Courtney aims to protect the volunteers. The Daleks breach the control room, and are only repelled by the TARDIS materialising around them. A video screen plays a message from the First and Thirteenth Doctors, who aren't willing to risk disrupting the Time Fracture by entering themselves, ask the volunteers to enter and find the pieces of the Time Disruptor to find a way to stop it, Dr. Courtney activating the gate and sending everyone through.
Act 1
This is where the story branches the most, and some areas you just won't see. There are 2 gates, and then once through, you wind up with one of a handful of roaming characters and will be take to a few destinations.
Guides:
Captain Steven Davies of Victorian era Torchwood, on managing to return him to his office you find it merged with the present day Hub, where there is a piece of the Time Disruptor and a receipt to pick up a Kerblam package, retrieving it you find a USB with a message from River Song imploring the volunteers to solve everything, then Davies takes the volunteers to one of a couple of locations and leaves them to be picked up by another guide.
2 different incarnations of the same Time Lord, who are aiming to stop schemes to save Gallifrey at the cost of the rest of the universe. In my case one of them picked my group up after Davies left us.
I see a mention of Time Agents, but I never encountered any.
Time Lady Zoria, a Gallifreyan Agent working to gather the pieces to the Time Disruptor.
Brian the Ood, assassin hired to eliminate Zoria and possibly retrieve the Time Disruptor pieces.
And static locations.
Borlls' Salvage and Export Emporium, where the Pigman owner hordes junk including a Time Disruptor part.
Elizabethan England, where Elizabeth I and William Shakespeare have been joined by Sir Robert, the time displaced Sgt Robert Dudley, who warns that the queen has the Coronet of Rassilon.
Karn where a member of the Sisterhood tells of how Ohila found Dudley after he first fell through the fracture, and sent him on, and points the volunteers to Brian.
Leonardo Da Vinci's workshop, where he wears an eyedrive due to periodic harassment by a Silent. He created the Time Disruptor for Zoria, but believed it to be a Temporal Restorer to undo the damage, but the fact that it is to be detonated on Gallifrey means it will instead cause the Time Fracture.
Zoria winds up killing both Borlls and Dudley to get Time Disruptor parts, and everyone winds up having to flee when Cybermen emerge from the Cyber Tombs of Telos.
(Somewhere is Time Fracture there is specially filmed video of the Fugitive Doctor, but I don't know what story is behind it.)
Intermission
Everyone is gradually brought to Space Liner ZZ1 where there is musical entertainment and drinks. One Time Lord manages to get the destination set to Gallifrey to stop the Time Disruptor. Zoria finds the last piece of the Time Disruptor, and gets in a shootout with Brian, before fleeing, him following after. The Time Lords gather their groups and guide them in willing a route to appear to get them to Gallifrey faster. Leading the group through a side door, the Volunteers find Brian's body, meaning Zoria has the completed Time Disruptor.
Act 2
The Time Lords lead you through the Henriks basement, where to save you from Weeping Angels they stay behind. You make your way through the Kassaavin realm, up the Heaven Sent tower, and into the Under Gallery, where the regenerated Time Lord leads you through the Gallifrey Falls No More painting to Gallifrey.
There the survivors of the High Council are debating the use of the Time Disruptor and whether to reassurect Rassilon. A new Romana is specifically against both, and expels Zoria from society after she presents the Time Disruptor, the members of the High Council who sent her out casting her aside. The Volunteers are added to the High Council for an emergency session for the debate, eventually the ritual to resurrect Rassilon takes place and he activates the Time Disruptor, immediately afterwards Davros leads a Dalek assault on the Capital.
All the Doctors make contact, and guide the volunteers in releasing Artron Energy into the Time Fracture and closing it, saving the universe.
The Volunteers are returned to UNIT HQ, where their actions have prevented the Time Fracture from existing, with the UNIT staff unsure what happened.
(Continuity Notes: This is the Time Fracture used by the TARDIS to bring the Doctor to the Dark Times. Presumably the appearance in London was a result of the disruption in time caused by Adelaide Brooke being alive on London rather than dead on Mars. Brian's death here means this cannot be before his involvement in Time Lord Victorious, and yet his ending leaves him in the Dark Times and planning to retire from assassin work, while he here dies.)

You had been busy the whole day, managing the books for his club, filling up the orders for whatever was needed and by the time you were done, it was late to your standards. You knew Santino would kill you if he caught you still working so you decided to pack up and tell him that you were on your way to the home side of his large mansion.
You knocked on the door to the meeting room and walked in without waiting to be told to come in, you didn’t know if it was out of force of habit or that your mind was in a universe of its own. You opened the door as you were fixing the buttons of your coat and immediately regretted it.
“Santino I- nevermind,” you spoke as you turned back around to leave, a group of men stared at you as you turned. You cursed yourself as you forgot Santino had a meeting with his associates today.
“Bella, come in” you heard Santino speak in his usual stern voice. You slowly turned back around, your cheeks tinted a light shade of pink.
“I’m sorry Santino, I completely forgot-”
“Come here” Santino cut you off, and tilted his head, signalling for you to cross the group of men and walk towards the front of the table where he sat. The room was silent as you walked up, the only noise that filled the room was the clicking of your heels on the marble floor.
He patted his thigh when you stood next to him, a proud smirk on his face as he watched his men look anywhere except at you. He liked showing you off and when you sat yourself down, he whispered in your ear, “I’ll only be a few minutes, bella, then I’ll take you home.”
He had one of his hands holding your waist to ensure you didn’t fall while the other cradled a cigarette. “Right where were we?” He asked, addressing the room and continuing on with the meeting as normal.
The meeting continued smoothly for a few moments and you eventually found yourself enjoying learning about this side of the business, although your heart dropped when you heard a snide comment slip out of a new member’s mouth.
“I thought whores weren’t allowed in meetings, Santino?” The man grinned, his grin morphing into a frown when nobody else laughed along with his comment. You felt Santino tense from beside you, his grip on your waist tightening, enough to possibly leave a slight mark, but not enough to hurt.
“What?” He asked, a look of pure hatred planted on his face as he narrowed his eyes at the younger man, “What the fuck did you just said?”
“No whores? Isn’t that your number one rule?” He defended as he crossed his arms against his chest and slouched down into his chair. Santino scoffed at the man, you saw him quickly clench his fist from the corner of your eye.
“Santino it’s fine, just a simple mistake” you whispered in attempt to defuse the situation.
“It’s not ok, I’m not going to tolerate you being disrespected right in front of me, especially by one of my own men” He shot back, his eyes never leaving the poor man who knew he had fucked up.
“Tutte fuori!” He demanded, “except you” he shouted, pointing his finger at the young associate, “no, faremo una piccola chiacchierata.”
Santino then turned to look at you, a softer look in his blue eyes as he whispered, “wait in the living room, it’ll only be a moment” then he gave your forehead a little kiss and waited until you had closed the door to speak again. You could hear the shouts coming from him as you walked along the corridor and you were certain you even heard the smashing of glass at one moment.
It was when the building became silent that you began to worry. You were just about to check up on Santino and the boy when you heard a knock on the door. You opened it to find the young man stood there, his head bent downwards and his hat between his hands.
“I am sincerely sorry about how I called you a few moments ago, you didn’t deserve that, I’m sure you’re a lovely lady and… well… I’m sorry.”
“And?” You heard Santino speak from behind him.
“And I’m an asshole.”
“Good, ora vaffanculo, cazzo!” Santino demanded and the man quickly walked away while your husband walked into the living room, his hands immediately going to your waist.
“You didn’t have to make it such a big deal, you know” you giggled, placing your hands on his shoulders as you looked up at him.
“Of course I did” he shot back, his lips turning up in a slight smile. You laughed at his words and gave him a quick kiss.
“Thank you” you whispered once you pulled apart.
Santino then pulled you into him and bit your lip, slipping his tongue into your mouth and kissing you in the most passionate way he could. You walked backwards slowly until your legs hit the back of your table and Santino lifted you up onto it, standing between your legs, his hands now resting on your thighs.
He moved his mouth to your neck where he placed a trail of kisses from your jaw down to the base of your neck. He squeezed your thigh before resting his forehead against yours.
“You’re all that matters to me.”
“Santi…” it was the first time you called him that and he looked at you with the softest look in his eyes you’ve ever seen. You gently cupped his large face in your hands and rested your forehead against his neck, “Baby, I know I’m not the best wife in the world, nor the one you deserve-”
“No, principessa, no” he cut you off by placing his fingers under your chin and gently lifting it up, so you could look at him, “you’re everything I need. I know you hated me at first… you loathed my presence, but for me… you were like the heavy rain after a muggy day… like the first rays of spring sun that warms the whole world. I needed you more than you thought.”
“Santi, my dear…” you breathed out and he blinked away the tears that formed in his eyes, “Santi your hand is shaking.”
“I’m still pissed off” he cackled and took a step away from you, “how could he even thought about saying that out loud?”
“Dear, it’s alright…”
“No! No it’s not! He called you una puttana! Nessuno chiamerà mia moglie così!” Santino shouted and you just took a deep breath before reaching out for his hand and pulling him closer again.
“Santino…” you murmured his name under your breath as he sprawled out his hand on your thighs.
“You, principessa” he said with this dark chuckle, as you felt felt a pair of wet lips nudge against your left lobe, with the warmth of a pink tongue tracing its contours… Making you lose all the control you had, “you belong to me.”
Santino has turned your head and was literally leaving a trail of wet saliva on your cheek as he hungrily devoured your lips, smearing that deep red lipstick all over your mouth as he turned your head towards his. You felt your cunt clench when he managed to unbutton your lavender blazer and insert a hand inside of it, revealing that you had no bra underneath as he freely tweaked a nipple that was growing hard against the hard fabric of your light violet blouse with his thumb and index finger.
Moaning inside his mouth, you managed to free your torso from his other hand affixed to your shoulder as you violently tugged at that navy blue tie. Pulling at the necktie, you managed to tighten it and almost choke him, as he violently yanked his head away from yours, separating his lips from your red-smeared mouth.
“Show me who the boss is, Santino” you growled at him as he flashed that mobster type evil grin at you…
Only for him to snake his free hand up your hair to tug at your perfectly made bun, destroying your hairstyle as he tangled his fingers around your locks… Managing to pull your head back he hovered his lips dangerously over yours, his mouth ghosting over your lips as he spoke, the tips brushing seductively as he sent vibrations down your body.
“I’ll show you who’s the boss” he said in that deep baritone Italian accent that shook you to the core.
He suddenly flipped you around and shoved you on the mahogany table, pressing your stomach flat on the surface. You hear the unbuckling of a belt as you heard your heart thumping in your ears as he violently kicked your shoes apart – wedging those expensive Loubotins from each other as he pressed that throbbing erection at your now exposed black-satin panties that came into contact with his slender fingers as he began to massage the spot where your clit should be issuing this long haunting moan from you as you closed your eyes.
“And all this time you claimed you were disgusted of me” he growled as you grit your teeth upon his mischievous digits slowly tracing the wetness of your slit, only to halfway part your panties aside - allowing him to brush the pad of his fingers on your moist cunt, “It seems like you love me doing disgusting things to you… no?”
You gritted your teeth as you felt his other hand push you flatter on the desk, as you felt his weight rest over you, “Just fuck me, darling” you gasped.
You felt your entire body shudder as he roughly nudged the head of his cock against your folds with his two fingers parting the entrance of your cunt, allowing him to slowly enter you as you found yourself struggling violently against him. But the more you thrashed your ass against his hand, the more you gritted your teeth and dug your nails, almost making marks in the expensive desk, the more he slowly eased himself into you, the wetter and aroused you become, squabbling under him as he eased his nerves and focused on fucking you.
As his every move and every inch pushed into you heightened your senses, and reminded you forcefully of the girth that he has and how much his length managed to stretched your aching pussy.
And mind you, Santino is very endowed than most men. And you knew this personally.
“C-cazzo” he hissed as he fought your retaliations, the way you tried to pull him out with jerking your hips, only for his strong hands to push you back down and his nails to dig into your hips as he slowly entered you with your slickness against his making this wet sound every time you moved against him, “Baby you’re so tight…”
You could only answer with a moan when he finally sheathed his entire length within you, causing you to heighten the loudness of your moan the moment the head of his cock hit your entrance.
And then stillness.
The only sound you can hear was the pace of your breathing and the way he panted in rhyme with the beating of his heart and that was when you began to feel his cock throbbing against your walls…
“Ohhhh!”
You began to struggle against him as he held you still by the hips, weighing down your thrashing as he rutted inside of you, the hardness of his cock causing your walls to clench around it again, eliciting this breathless moan that escaped both of your lungs as you both began to lose control…
“Fuck!” Santino growled as he began to pull out in a swift mode, only to slam back forcefully into you, causing you to wince and grit your teeth with every quick movement that involved his naked thighs slamming against your ass, causing your cheeks to bounce against his skin.
“C-cazzo” His voice suddenly sounded so melodious, strained by his anticipation, and fogged up by sex, “You… feel… so… fucking… good, principessa…” he iterated against your moans with each word accentuated by his thrusts, as he pushed his hips repeatedly against your ass, thrusting that bulging cock inside your swollen folds repeatedly as if there was no tomorrow.
In fact, if any of those newly-gained contacts that were still roaming the halls of the mansion dared to peek between the almost-closed doors of the living room, the sight they would see would be two pairs of feet pressed against the edge of a table with both hips attached to another, grinding against each other, with a hand snaked around a waist… with the string of underwear pulled down and wrapped around a slender thigh whose expensive pencil cut skirt was bunched up the waist.
And that would be enough of reason for Santino to shoot them causing another war between most of the mob families in the country.
Not to mention the mahogany room table that was beginning to shake in unison with your movements.
And with this thought, you began to shudder.
It didn’t help how your panties weren’t fully parted, with a bit of fabric snug against your folds, with your clitoral hood covered by the laced edge, biting through the skin and heightening your sexual sensations with every movement of Santino’s hips…
And to fan the flame he noticed this specific detail, as he deviously wet his finger and slowly lowered it in between your legs rubbing your clit furiously, with the textured fabric brushing hard against your bundle of nerves.
“FUCK!” You cry out as you felt your inner thighs quiver, “S-Santi… I’m gonna come!”
It wasn’t long till Santino let out this guttural groan as you closed your eyes and opened your mouth - a soundless cry escaping your lips as your juices squirted from your cunt, drenching your black underwear and staining the man’s fingers pressed against your clit.
Overcome by this sensation of your cunt clenching and tightening around his throbbing cock Santino  gave one sharp shove that completely pressed your bare thighs against the edge of the desk, the wood almost biting into your smooth skin as he released himself inside of you his juices mixing with your own arousal as he filled you up to the brim with his climax.
You both were stuck in that position for a while your husband’s body draped against yours, as your helpless twitching legs was covered by his own, his cock still throbbing within you, as you milked him of his juices, robbing him of a climax he’d been dreaming of ever since he watched you walked into the meeting.
Santino was the first to retract himself from you, the sensation of him pulling that half-erect cock from your swollen folds almost giving you another orgasm as he found the power to sit down on an ignored chair as he cleaned himself up.
You then found whatever was left of the strength in your legs to move away from the table and walk over to him, as he gestured for you to come over and sit in his lap.
“I’ll stain your pants…” you mumbled out, but he just smiled and scooped you into his embrace and you sat down in his lap, pressing your body closer to his, resting your face in the crook of his neck.
“I don’t care… I love you, principessa” his hand gently caressed your cheek.
“I love you too, Santino.”

Documenting 150 Years of St. John's University History: A Digital Archival Exhibition
Community and World Impact: The 1918 Influenza Epidemic at St. John's
The current COVID-19 pandemic has prompted inquiry into how the 1918 influenza epidemic affected St. John’s University over 100 years ago. The relatively few available primary sources about St. John’s University from this era show that amidst the hardships caused by World War I, the epidemic simultaneously brought its own heartaches to the St. John’s community.
In August 1918, St. John’s announced preparations to form a Student Army Training Corps to prepare students to join the armed forces. The 1919 Vincentian yearbook noted of the S.A.T.C., “But it was far from being all work or study. When we were quarantined after inoculation [most likely typhoid and/or smallpox, since there was no influenza vaccine yet] we organized impromptu programs. On several evenings, volunteer entertainers gave us a glimpse of Broadway. One “volunteer” show cost us ninety-five dollars. Fair, for volunteers; but suppose they had charged!” This quarantine was not related to the influenza epidemic, and was only for the S.A.T.C. students after their inoculations. It appears that classes and other large gatherings such as theatre, athletics, commencement, etc., continued as per usual despite the epidemic, except for the disruptions caused by World War I.
The Rev. Vincent J. Dougherty, a professor of English at the college from 1916 to 1918, was training to become a military chaplain when he was called to assist during the influenza epidemic at Camp Dix, New Jersey. While Rev. Dougherty returned to work at St. John’s in February 1919, at least 14 students, faculty, and alumni died due to the epidemic. Several of them contracted influenza while serving as soldiers or chaplains, while others succumbed to the disease at home. Further research may uncover more names of victims of the 1918 influenza epidemic from St. John’s University. Please contact the University Archives if you can contribute more information.

Died Apr 2, 1918 - Francis (Frank) W. Neumann – student, age 18
“It was a real shock to us to learn of the sudden death of one of our most promising members- Francis Neuman. After a short illness this loved and honored friend and companion, died at his home on Easter Sunday night. On the eve of his burial, the whole class consoled with the family of the departed. All were present at the Mass of Requiem, and followed our One-time chum and classmate to his final resting place. "Requiescat." Vincentian 1918, page 65.
“In Memoriam. WITH the deepest sorrow and grief for the loss which we have sustained, with heart-felt sympathy for those nearest and dearest to him, in their bereavement we dedicate these few lines to the memory of one whom the grim reaper Death saw fit to snatch from our midst. To say more would be of no avail. The deepest emotions defy expression. With unshaken faith in our immortal destiny and inspired by that sterling Christian courage, which enables us to bear the vicissitudes of this life, we can but bow our heads and murmur resignedly, "Thy Will be done." Vincentian 1918, page 67.

Died Oct 15, 1918 - Rev. Dr. Joseph C. Dougherty, C.M. – faculty, age 37
“It was a cause for the most general and intense grief that the influenza epidemic deprived St. John's of two of its most efficient and beloved priests and professors. Rev. John Carmen and Rev. Joseph Dougherty were among the most promising men in the community. Fr. Carmen had endeared himself to those who knew him even casually, by the good nature and atmosphere of cheeriness which he conveyed at all times. Fr. Dougherty, whose academic career in America and abroad, particularly at Rome, foretold great possibilities, was stopped in his very prime. The one Mass of Requiem was celebrated for both. May they rest!” 1919 Vincentian page 20.
IN MEMORIAM. St. John's suffered an irreparable loss some three weeks ago when death snatched away two of its most able and best loved professors within twenty-four hours. They were Rev. John A. Carman, C. M., Prefect of Studies in the High School Department, and Rev. Joseph Dougherty, C. M., Professor of Dogmatic Theory in the Seminary. Both priests were held in the highest esteem and their loss is deeply felt by the entire student body. A solemn funeral mass was celebrated for them in the College Church on Wednesday, Oct. 16. The Right Rev. Bishop McDonnell and a large number of clergy attended in the sanctuary, while the large church was filled by the entire student body and relatives and friends of the deceased priests. The Rev. M. A. Drennan, C. M., delivered the eulogy. The two bodies were shipped to St. Vincent's Seminary, Germantown, Philadelphia, for interment. College Chronicle November 1918.

The Vietnam Odyssey of Oliver Stone
The soldier trained his rifle at the ground in front of the feet of the unarmed Vietnamese villager and fired away, yelling "Dance. Dance. Dance." The old man hopped from one foot to the other.
"I wanted to kill him," recalled Oliver Stone. "I hated him. I crossed over into being a monster."
The above incident is depicted in "Platoon," written and directed by Stone, a Vietnam veteran. It and the other events shown actually happened, according to Stone. He's not proud of it. But he owns up to it. "Platoon" is Oliver Stone's atonement. Moreover, it's our atonement, too. "Platoon" is the first Hollywood movie to take the redemptive power of cinema and focus it on the Vietnam War.
If you think Vietnam was John Wayne in "The Green Berets," Robert DeNiro in "The Deer Hunter" or Marlon Brando in "Apocalypse Now," think again. "Platoon" is about the bugs and rain and the jungle and the pain. It's about the unseen enemy, rice paddy stashes and gun caches in thatched-hut villages. It's about boredom, fear, friendship, rage, loyalty, humor and choices - right and wrong. Like the phrase from the comic strip Pogo, "We have met the enemy and they is us," that's what "Platoon" is all about.
Why is "Platoon" drawing critical raves, Oscar talk and large numbers at the box office? Why is it being called the most important movie about Vietnam, or perhaps the most important war movie ever made? Why, 20 years after the war's escalation, are we seeing images of a Vietnam movie on the cover of Time magazine and in the media across the nation?
Oliver Stone has a few theories. The Academy-award-winning writer ("Midnight Express") and acclaimed writer-director ("Salvador") says it took 20 years for the nation to heal its wounds, for historic perspective to settle in and allow Americans to understand Vietnam and welcome home its legacy - the Vietnam Vet. It took the Vietnam monument in Washington, D.C., and, yes, Bruce Springsteen's misunderstood "Born in the U.S." ("Got in a little hometown jam/So they put a rifle in my hand/Send me off to a foreign land/Go and kill the yellow man.") It was an educational process, Stone told a recent gathering of the media in New York.
"We thought the war was over, when in fact it was just beginning," Stone recalled of his return after 15 months with the 25th Infantry Division near the Cambodian border. Stone, wounded twice, was awarded the Bronze Star for combat gallantry and a Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster. He was later transferred to the First Cavalry Division. Of his return home, he says, "There was total indifference. The war happened at 7:15 each night on the news."
Stone, 40, is a bear of a man with a boyish face. He's a very forceful individual who speaks in bursts of words which tumble forth. At the same time, the writer in him is ever observant. He seems impatient, as if he can't wait to get back to the word processor.
Ten days after his return in November 1968, Stone found himself in prison, arrested on a marijuana charge. Adjusting to civilian life for him and some 2 million other Vietnam servicemen would not be easy. But Stone managed to tough it out. What was his salvation? The cinema. Stone studied screenwriting and directing with Martin Scorsese at New York University Film School, receiving a BFA in 1971.
A Canadian firm bought a screenplay, "Seizure," and allowed him to direct the low-budget film. In 1976, Stone moved to Hollywood. Two years later, he won an Academy Award for his screenplay, "Midnight Express," which also brought him the Writers Guild of America Award. Stone also directed another low budget film, "The Hand," and co-authored the script for "Conan the Barbarian" and wrote the screenplay for "Scarface."
It was 10 years ago, during America's Bicentennial, that Stone wrote the script for "Platoon." He says every studio in Hollywood turned it down, telling him nobody wanted to see a movie about the Vietnam War. "It was considered too gruesome, too realistic."
"Platoon" is a Vietnam movie from the grunt's point of view. We see the war through the eyes of Charlie Sheen, who plays Chris, a young recruit (based on Stone), and hear it through his words in letters he writes to his grandmother back home.
The movie depicts a night watch in the jungle turned into an ambush by the North Vietnamese Army, contrasts the boozers (those who drank beer and alcohol off-duty) and the heads (those who used marijuana and other drugs back at base camp), shows a My Lai type scourging of a village by American soldiers and the conflict between a gung-ho, out-to-kill lifer Sgt. Barnes (Tom Berenger), and a mild-mannered eager-to-get-o ut-alive Sgt. Elias (Willem Dafoe). The movie does not paint a glorious picture of the American presence in Vietnam.
" 'Apocalypse Now' was about everyday life in Vietnam. It was more Joseph Conrad mythology," said Stone. " 'The Deer Hunter' was more about Pennsylvania and Meryl Streep than Vietnam."
The characters in "Platoon" are based on real people who existed in three different combat units in Vietnam. The characters and events are composites, but based on reality, Stone said. "My hypothesis was: 'What would happen if the three were in the same Platoon?' "
I asked Stone how accurate the scenes were depicting drug use in Vietnam. Many Vietnam soldiers were introduced to drugs in Vietnam and returned with drug habits. "Not in the field," said Stone. "A lot of us did it in the base camp - mostly marijuana, some heroin."
The tone of "Platoon" is not one of condemnation, but rather understanding - a knowledge that the roots of war are in all of us. Stone called war "one of the greatest highs. There's an adrenaline that flows. Life freezes down to a minute."
As you might expect, the violence in "Platoon" is graphic. But it is not gratuitous. "TV violence is obscene," said Stone of small-screen images of crashing cars, shootouts and fistfights where the participants seem to always mend by next week's episode. "It ignores reality, the real pain, shock and loss. It (violence) has to be done explicitly. Otherwise, you'll deceive the public."
Stone found a willing backer for "Platoon" in England. John Daly and Derek Gibson, owners of Hemdale Film Corp. arranged financing and brought in producer Arnold Kopelson. "Platoon" was brought in for $6 million, a low figure in today's Hollywood where a $15-million budget is average. Orion Pictures is distributing the movie.
Hemdale had produced Stone's "Salvador." Other noteworthy Hemdale movies include "The Falcon and the Snowman," "At Close Range," "River's Edge," "The Terminator" and "Hoosiers." They'll team again with Stone for his upcoming "Tom Mix and Pancho Villa.'
"Platoon" was described "as the flipside of 'Top Gun.' "
" 'Top Gun' was totally irresponsible, really," said Daly. "My friend's son, 12, saw 'Top Gun' and wanted to sign up. I said, 'Wait to sign-up until he sees 'Platoon.' "
To heighten authenticity, Stone and the producers brought the cast to the Philippines prior to shooting for two weeks of "basic training." Sheen, Berenger, Dafoe and the rest were given a shovel, told to dig their home, taken on hikes and climbs, given night guard duty and handed Army rations. Capt. Dale Dye, a retired Marine officer and Vietnam veteran, was in charge.
Dye, who has a consulting firm, Warriors Inc., which advises film-makers on military accuracy, contacted Stone, telling him, "You understand that this is as significant for the Vietnam veteran as anything is going to be. Let's do it right."
Dye was a sergeant in Vietnam where he was wounded in action three times during 31 major combat operations including the battle for Hue City and Khe Sanh during the Tet Offensive in 1968. Later, as a master sergeant he was active in the evacuation of Saigon and Phom Penh.
" 'Apocalypse Now' and 'The Deer Hunter' are war films," said Dye, "but have nothing to do with Vietnam. They are allegorical in nature, but don't reflect the agony and ecstasy of young men who went to fight in that very difficult war."
Dye now has no illusions about war: "I went into it with grand delusions of flashing sabers and lovely ladies on my arm. When I got down to the mud and the blood, I found that to be hollow."
Stone was similarly gung-ho. A son of a stockbroker who met his wife in Paris during World War II, Stone attended the Hill School, Pottstown, before entertaining Yale University. He studied there for one year. In 1965, he got a job with the Free Pacific Institute, teaching Vietnamese-Chinese students in the Cholon district of Saigon. Then, he got a job on an American merchant ship. Two years later, at 21, he was back in Vietnam.
Has "Platoon" helped Stone put Vietnam behind him? Yes, he says. "I was totally warped and twisted by Vietnam. I got rid of all my demons."

Will Road Safety Deteriorate After COVID-19?
The COVID-19 pandemic has made our boulevards incidentally more secure – vehicle traffic is down, and bike and walker traffic are up. In numerous purviews, fender bender lawyers are handling less calls from seriously harmed car accident casualties.
"It's become a cycling and strolling heaven and you can hear the winged animals better," atmosphere arrangements strategy expert Tom Green informed CP24 concerning Vancouver's Stanley Park.
Tumblr media
"On the off chance that there's one silver covering here, it's that we've been in a spot that isn't as vehicle driven, that doesn't have that equivalent blockage, contamination, clamor stressors," included Meghan Winters, a partner educator of wellbeing sciences at Simon Fraser University in British Columbia. "What's more, individuals have been out in their networks seeing various things, hearing various things, having a sense of security on their boulevards."
"We're unquestionably observing lighter volumes of traffic at the entire hours of the day through the whole city," said Toronto Police Service Sgt. Jason Kraft, likewise to CP24. The circumstance in Toronto is rehashing the nation over; in Edmonton, traffic volume has fallen by 30 percent.
Sadly, similar variables that have decreased vehicle traffic have additionally influenced open travel. The Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) has as of now incidentally laid off 1,200 representatives in the midst of a 85 percent ridership abatement, and Vancouver's TransLink is losing around $75 million every month in income. In the event that these and other open travel specialists can't recoup, auto accident lawyers are worried that street wellbeing will come back to pre-COVID conditions – or more awful. Information from China shows that a bigger number of individuals are driving personal cars today than before the lockdown.
There is likewise worry about awful driving propensities grabbing hold during this surprising period.
"Drivers are deciding to twofold and now and again triple the posted speed limit," said Sgt. Kraft. "Our open streets are not your personal race track."
On the off chance that urban communities need to save the degree of security and solace that powerless street clients are right now encountering, they will "need to put resources into guaranteeing that strolling and cycling keep on having a sense of security exercises," Winters said. Lamentably, it's difficult to envision urban areas organizing cyclist and person on foot wellbeing over a proficient come back to ordinary when the pandemic inevitably subsides.

A young man who was violently assaulted, stabbed and burnt by his abusive girlfriend has revealed the extent of his horrific injuries for the first time in a harrowing documentary.
Alex Skeel, 22, from Bedfordshire was just 'days from death' when police knocked on his door in June 2017, leading to an investigation that saw the mother of his two children jailed for more than seven years.
Jordan Worth was the first female in the UK to be convicted of controlling or coercive behaviour, along with GBH, and her former childhood sweetheart now hopes to spread the message that women can be perpetrators of domestic violence too.
Alex relives his horrific five-year ordeal in new BBC Three documentary Abused By My Girlfriend, which reveals in heartbreaking detail how he went from a carefree teenager to being hit, stabbed and burnt on a regular basis.
Alex was a typical football-mad 16-year-old when he first met Jordan at a concert in June 2012 and soon became besotted with her.
'She was very caring, confident, loving,' he says of the aspiring teacher. 'She just showed a real interest in me.'
Despite Alex's friends describing Jordan as 'delightful' and her boyfriend as 'quite smitten', Alex's mother Ged says it wasn't long before her behaviour 'started to change'.
'The longer they were together, and as the relationship grew, the mind games started playing,' she recalls.
Alex explains: '[Jordan would] say, I don't really like the colour grey, I don't think you should wear the colour grey.
'I don't like your hair like that, you should have your hair like this. I don't like the shoes you're wearing. But I never took it as a negative.'
There was the time Alex's family treated her to a night at the theatre in London, only for her to disappear from the hotel in the middle of the night, sparking a frantic search, before reappearing in the hotel lobby an hour later, 'just laughing'.
Or the time she ruined Alex's 18th birthday party by 'screaming abuse' at a female family friend who she had grown jealous of.
But despite her erratic behaviour, Alex brushed off his family and friends' growing concerns, admitting: 'I was a bit clouded by what happened because at the time I loved her.'
Alex eventually tried to break things off, but Jordan came back with the bombshell revelation that she was pregnant and returned to his life a year later with baby Thomas J ('TJ') who was born in May 2014.
It wasn't long before the young couple were back together and, despite Alex's hopes that she had changed, the cracks soon reappeared.
As Alex's best friend puts is: '[Jordan] just got back into his head to the point where you couldn't do anything to stop it.'
Before long, Jordan forced Alex to choose between her and his family, which resulted in the young couple moving into their own home in Stewartby in July 2016.
Just 19 at the time, Alex didn't speak to his parents for two years - even when he welcomed his second child, a little girl called Iris, in May 2017.
Things went from bad to worse when Jordan forced her boyfriend to change his phone number and threw away his PlayStation console to cut him off further from his loved ones.
She even set up a fake Facebook account where she would send abusive messages to Alex's friends in a bid to isolate him further.
Years later, when police questioned Jordan, she would blame it on Alex, saying: 'He made it very clear he never wanted to see his family.
'He said he hated his family and he doesn't want to talk to his family. He wants nothing to do with his family.'
In time, Jordan grew so controlling she took Alex's wallet away, forcing him to quit the job he loved and  accompany her to university every day.
Alex claims things deteriorated to the point where his girlfriend would attack or assault him 'every day', and on one occasion she made him swallow an entire packet of sleeping pills.
One day she attacked him with a broken hairbrush, breaking his tooth in the process.
'I had no money, I didn't drive, so in the end I just ripped the tooth out,' Alex says, recalling how being hit with a hammer or knife became part of daily life.
'I'd be asleep and she'd smack me in the head and I'd look in the mirror and I'd just be bleeding,' he says.
'I wasn't eating properly, she didn't let me. She made him sleep on the floor instead of the bed.
'I could feel that my body was starting to shut down. I didn't want [my son] to get hurt, so I was fighting to keep going because I didn't know what would happen if I was to leave.'
A kettle full of boiling water became Jordan's weapon of choice, leaving her boyfriend screaming in pain as the skin hung off his arms and back.
'She would wait up all night with a kettle of boiling water and if it went cold she would just wait and reboil it,' he recalls.
A few days after one such attack, Jordan slashed her boyfriend's hand with a breadknife and police were called, not for the first time, by their worried neighbours who heard Alex shouting, 'Leave me alone, stop hurting me'.
Sgt. Ed Finn of Bedfordshire Police was on the scene and remembers how, despite there being 'blood everywhere', the couple both insisted that Alex's numerous injuries were self-inflicted.
Officers took Alex to hospital to fix his badly burnt arm, but Jordan came in and 'walked him out of the hospital' despite the attempts of the surgeon - who could sense something was wrong - to make him stay.
'It's strange, because it was the right time and the right place but I didn't say anything,' Alex recalls. 'I kept saying I did it to myself. I was scared of what she was going to do.'
But a few days later, when Sgt. Finn got a call from the couple's address, he seized the opportunity to take action.
He recalls: 'As soon as I saw him in the light of day, the state of him in terms of countless injuries all over his body the fact that he had these horrible dirty clothes on... he was pale, thin. I thought [...] he was being abused.'
Jordan seemed 'very slight, well spoken, very polite, to all intents and purposes a very nice lady,' he recalls.
Despite his protests, Sgt. Finn was able to persuade Alex to reveal what was really going on - and finally arrest Jordan on suspicion of assault and grievous bodily harm (GBH).
When they managed to get Alex to hospital, doctors said he was just 'ten days from death' in his physical state, by which point his burns had become infected.
Bodycam footage and police tapes from the day he was rescued show the 21-year-old looking alarmingly frail, covered with bruises and dressed in bloodstained clothes, unable to make eye contact.
In his interview, when asked by an officer how he feels about moving forward, he replies: 'I just don't want to get hurt anymore.'
Alex returned home to his family where he was reunited with his children and, in September 2017, Jordan was charged with 17 counts including GBH and controlling coercive behaviour.
On 13 April 2018 Jordan was given two seven-year sentences for wounding with intent and GBH to be served concurrently at Luton Crown Court.
She was also handed a consecutive sentence of six months for controlling or coercive behaviour, becoming the first female in the UK to be convicted of this charge.
'When the police found me I was told I was ten days away from death,' says Alex. 'I was in love with Jordan and it took me a long time to have the courage to say she was abusing me.
'The day that she [went] to prison I felt so free. It was a massive relief. I remember just saying, I can actually look over my shoulder now for the first time in five years without worrying.
'Now that I'm free from the relationship, I'm beginning to understand abuse better. And I hope I can help others understand it too.'
Alex now coaches a football team sponsored by a domestic abuse charity and talks to professionals to help them spot the signs of abuse.
'The memories will never leave me,' he says, 'but I'm learning how to cope.
'I have so much support from my friends and family and I'm building a future for me and my kids.'
Abused By My Girlfriend  airs on BBC One at 22.45 on Tuesday 19 February, and is available on BBC iPlayer from 10am Monday 18 February.
It’s so important to talk about this. It’s unbelievable what narcs can do.

Linda McCartney Retrospective Linda McCartney was an exceptional photographer of huge range with a portfolio that boasted portraits of some of the most iconic artists from the 1960s music scene, alongside intimate family moments. Her photography captured the world as Linda experienced it. In a new retrospective at the ‘Walker Art Gallery’ in Liverpool a wealth of ephemera and archive materials will be on display, including some of McCartney's journals from the 1960s and a number of her cameras, contact sheets, Polaroids and sun prints, demonstrating McCartney’s creativity and interest in early, experimental photographic processes. Born Linda Eastman in New York in 1941 her interest in photography developed after she accompanied a friend to a photography class while studying at the ‘University of Arizona’. Seeing photographs such as Dorothea Lange’s powerful images of 1930s American migrant families Eastman was inspired to photograph the world around her as she saw it. By the mid-1960s Eastman was a successful professional photographer known for her portraits of musicians such as ‘The Rolling Stones', Jimi Hendrix, Aretha Franklin and ‘The Beatles’. In 1968 she became the first female photographer to have a cover photograph on ‘Rolling Stone magazine’ with her portrait of Eric Clapton. The exhibition will feature images of ‘The Rolling Stones’ on the Hudson River as well as iconic photographs of ‘The Beatles’’ ‘Sgt. Pepper’s’ album launch and the recording of the ‘White Album’ at 'Abbey Road Studios’. One of the most intimate images in the exhibition - and there are many - shows John Lennon and Paul McCartney pouring over a white sheet of paper, smiling together as they write a song for the 'White Album'. Although she initially favoured black and white photography, McCartney also used colour as well as experimenting with the instantaneous nature of Polaroids and the cyanotype process of using sunlight to print images. ’Linda McCartney Retrospective’ curated by Paul, Mary and Stella McCartney at ‘Walker Art Gallery’ runs until November 1, 2020. #neonurchin #neonurchinblog #dedicatedtothethingswelove #suzyurchin #ollyurchin #art #music #photography #fashion #film (at Walker Art Gallery) https://www.instagram.com/p/CERQZUflmD4/?igshid=1h9chcv78zh6u

Economic Development Presentation – Mike Piscitelli and Aicha Woods
The Economic Development Division has 6 departments
Their goal is to look for a more comprehensive place strategy for Downtown, which acts as both a regional center and neighborhood.
Focused on defining development values and looking for successful development project criteria; the projects relationship with Development has changed in recent years, more private investors are involved now, and the rulebook needs to be re-written and have more clarity over development values
Upcoming Plans:
Path of a Development project
How to Stay Informed
Getting rid of the Route 34 connector in order to better connect the Hill area/train station to Downtown
Long Wharf Plan is going before the Board of Alders and City Plan Commission
Olive, Elm, and State Street Corridors- focusing on commercial corridors and zoning regulations that may be out of date (newhavencorridors.com)
Examples: 80 Elm Street Hotel in former Webster Bank building.
Buildings on east side of State Street
170 Olive Street, more mixed-use buildings for this area
Ninth Square Residences will have new owners, with first floor retail and market rate apartments
RFP for community event use at State and Wall parking lot in evenings/on weekends areas
Development deals with both building codes and zoning codes
If it’s a deviation from the standard, project goes to the BZA (Board of Zoning Appeals)
If it’s checking a technical detail, it goes to a Site Plan Review with the City Plan Commission
If the project requires a zoning change, it can go to the Board of Alders
Deviations with special exceptions go to BZA, special permits go to CPC. Exceptions have one set of criteria, where permits are more elevated and often involve design criteria
Public Hearings – some are required and some are requested by Alders. Public Comment by letter is also allowed
The Historic District Commission deals with changes to property in a historic district.
Projects with the city’s direct interest (where city land is involved) go straight to the Board of Alders.
Items on public agenda are listen on websites
Fill out survey and send back to Economic Development or bring to next meeting to discuss
Sign up for development e-blast

Dedicated & let the legacy continue❤️
Study tips; 1. Excersice all day. Make mistakes. 1 sub per day. 1 sub per 3 days before exam week. 2. Sleep early on exam week and wake up again at midnight, study, sleep again at 4.30 a.m. Caffeine is a must. I know It’s hard to wake up but if you get used to it, it will become an obsession. Ada masa tu mengantuk sangat but i had to study so i put minyak angin dekat mata. Pedih tapi hilang la jugak mengantuk sbb banyak kelip hahahaha. I only work hard on exam week. I dont work hard when teacher suruh salin nota di class. Trust me my handwriting shows that I’m lazy. 3. Ask your teachers a lot. Whatsapp the question if you’re at home. My contact is full of them😂 even Mr.Koo. So dont delete whatsapp just because SPM is coming like everyone did sbb on holiday, this will benefits you a lot. Sacrifice recess time at bilik guru. If she’s not there, find another cg yg ajar sub sama. Bother them always until they feels like “oh dia mmg nk berjaya. Kalau aku ajar mmg tak rugi.” 4. Before exam, go to @bekam_corner and ask for bekam kepala. Students discount pun ada (+60 14 5124 208) this is a big secret of mine actually. I’m not genius i study last minute sbb my otak jenis last minute lagi sng ingat. And of course bekam kepala helped me a lot dari segi ringankan kepala & cerdaskan minda. Sbb tu masa exam laju je fikir. Masa real SPM pun tidur pukul 5 pagi paling lambat tapi otak masih segar dgn ilmu bila bangun. 5. Read Al Quran everyday on morning and before 8 p.m. My fav surah is Al Waqiah cause it can murahkan rezeki you. 6. Focus in class & ajar kawan. Study group also helped but not much. Sbb byk masa akn membazir with laughter so i prefer to study alone and refer cikgu. 7. Change study schedule based on your latest result. If 4A5B masa tov study a lot B sub for oti. A lot more than A sub. Petang for math on sunday acc on monday and repeat over again that week. After sch & night sub such as BM. Exam schedule must be based on your exam sub. Contoh, kalau sains start first day exam, study sains paling lambat (3 days before exam start) kalau BI last study BI dulu awal. So kena tahu jadual exam cepat cepat utk adjust schedule kita di kalendar. Thats mean 2 minggu setengah dh start study utk exam (1 sub per 3 days). Conclusionnya study schedule and exam schedule is a different thing. 8. Solat sunat and my fav du'a is “Oh Allah please lend me Your cleverness cause You’re the cleverest—indeed my success can only come from You.” Dont forget zikr Ya Rashidu byk kali for otak and Ya Rafi for makbulkan hajat. 9. Avoid dramas. Avoid hurting teacher’s heart. Avoid riak, dont study to show off. Avoid negative people. Avoid online too much. 15 minutes a day and 15 minutes at night is better. Kalau ada kawan dari sekolah lain, whatsapp them for peruncingan. I lead a group called “Terengganu United Student” mmg budak dari almost 10 jenis skolah ada. We talked a lot about topik target yg diberi from their teacher. That group hanya active bila exam. Avoid pergi tandas masa cg mengajar. After lessons baru pergi. 10. Do your own thing even if you’re alone. Everyone go their own way after SPM. Trial also penting sbb i got UTP, UTM offers and scholarship Yayasan Melaka even though result belum keluar lagi. 11. Personal tutor: +60 13 625 5518 and i have one more number but she is gonna working as a doctor. My tuition is at Tuisyen City beside Warung Katana. But lebih baik ikut lessons from our teachers at school or penceramah dari skolah lain sbb dorang lebih tahu format SPM macam mana. Kalau nak belajar untuk faham takpe tapi rujuk balik cikgu di sekolah. Takut nanti SPM dpt markah kurang sbb tak ikut format. Serious. 12. Bila dh beli buku latihan, buat, and show it to your teachers at school. Bukan menunjuk but untuk semakan terperinci. Bila dh habis buku tu beli lagi yg baru. I have a lot of books for each sub. It looks like I’m an owner of PSI😂. 13. Avoid a competition kalau boleh or an events outdoor. I always spend time at home and balik awal sekolah sbb x libatkan diri. Why? Because masa form 1-form ¾ dh active. Koko is important too but jgn libat byk sgt. Cukuplah sikit je itupun kena ganti balik berapa jam yg habis. 14. Tanam minat to study and enjoy it. So that it will ease your understanding. Masa exam jawab cepat2 soalan objektif dalam 20 minit. Then baki masa tu buat 1 round lagi ulang. After that recheck semua until you confirm that It’s right. So It’s 3 round for objektif. 3 times reading 40 questions until the time is over. Never waste your time by sleeping cause you will regret it soon. Why should you waste the chances? It’s not like we exam everyday. It’s just for that week. 15. If you’re sick or in a bad mood or having a fever, please watch Astro tutor tv instead just laying on bed. That’s selemah-lemah iman for me. 16. Watch your foods. Never eat Maggie/carbonated drinks/ sour plums. NEVER. I skip eating that for 2 years and it’s really sad when my friends makan semua tu. I feel like a challenge at first but I told myself that the contains in those foods can melembabkan otak you. So slowly, I get allergic to it for the sake of my mind. Don’t forget to eat a lot of raisins. 17. There’s no 17, chase your dreams now.
P/s: It’s up to you to follow the steps or not but for me, it will help you a lot cause with this, my results from tov to oti to mid year and to final did increased one by one. I am not a clever person, i just worked hard and sometimes that work hard can beat a clever person. I know how it feels to get a bad results cause i used to get F grade on pt3. So i moved to chws to observe the secret behind chinese intelligent students behaviour. But i dont find it except my spirit increased sbb takde Melayu yg hebat. Never expect to be in persaingan kaum at all. After one year, people started to recognize me. Number one kekal mine for two years in class. Number 21 dikalangan budak alamanda on trial. Graduated with an honor jubah biru cemerlang. My dreams become school’s dream. Just like a quote saying “work hard until you dont need to introduce yourself”. Chws teachers is the best in the world. They really treated me nicely. Remember that if you nak berubah, the teacher will always be semangat to teach you. I never thought of being targetted by school as straight A’s candidate because my main reason to transfer school is to tebus silap pt3. Bukannya dapat straight A’s. Thats why I’m happy yesterday because i know myself better than anyone else. I struggled a lot since 2015. So i dont deserved to be sad now. Dont forget that SPM is important because with that, you can go to university and dapat gaji mahal atas sbb ada degree etc. SPM also important to balas jasa org tua dlm masa terdekat because kalau tunggu dapat kerja gaji besar mmg 10 tahun akan datang. But we cant guarantee if they are still alive or not. I hope by reading this you get inspired & can grant malay teachers wish that one day, a malay student will also be able to receive the result on stage too. Not only one person, but a few more to come in Shaa Allah. ‘20 liners, you got my back.

#KarensGoneWild: The Karens In Detroit, Montclair & Beyond Have Been Out Here Cutting Up & Some Of Them Are About To ‘Lose Their Jobs’
We’ve got the latest round up of foolish KAREN activities and several of them are about to lose their jobs if they haven’t already. One pulled a gun on a black mother who was defending her child in Detorit. Get into their clownery inside…
KAREN activity has been on one thousand lately as the nation has been protesting against police brutality and bringing awareness to racism in the media.
A heated exchange caught on video between a white couple and a black mother and daughter has the Internet seemingly torn. The white couple and the black mother-daughter duo came into contact with one another outside of an Oakland County Chipotle in Detroit. The mother – reportedly named Takelia Hill – claims the white woman bumped into her 15-year-old daughter before entering the restaurant. The daughter claims she asked the woman for an apology, but the white woman allegedly began yelling at her.
In the video that has gone viral, it begins with the white woman pointing her gun at the mother and daughter and screaming for them to back up as they tried to get her license plate number:
This happened today in Auburn Hills,MI Another Karen .. pic.twitter.com/lWksZwXITD
— Makay (@makaysmith10) July 2, 2020
Initially, folks felt the white woman was wrong, but then video footage of the moments before the viral video started has folks questioning the black woman and daughter’s behavior. It's unclear if the daughter was already standing behind the white couple's car before they began to back up, but once it looked like he was going to hit the teenager, the mom went off.
Peep the full exchange below:
Choose your battles.
Posted by Arden RD-Iag Bolden on Thursday, July 2, 2020
One Facebook user - who is a black woman - wrote a response to the full video:
Two versions of the same incident..... The second video shows more of the encounter.... Listen, this bothers me so much, because now, the automatic assumption is, whenever we see a “black vs. white” issue, the white person “has” to be wrong and racist, and the black person is supposedly right and vindicated just because..... how does “bumping someone” make you inherently racist and ignorant? Every white person ain’t racist, and clearly, the woman was trying to apologize
Unfortunately, the mother and daughter in this video have misconstrued real struggle and racial plight for minutiae moments of rebellion and antagonization. When the white lady got in her car, it was clear she was trying to remove herself from and deescalate the situation.... She even at one point could be heard saying “I care about you”. Seemed apologetic to me.... The black lady demanded an apology, but then when she got one, she was mad at that! “Why you apologizing if you didn’t nothing!” Smh. This lady was obviously not going to be satisfied with or without an apology. She saw her racial moment, and decided to take it
At that point, the situation heightened when the black lady walked behind her van.... When you saw them reverse and your daughter walked TOWARDS the building, why would you provoke the matter by walking in the direction behind a moving vehicle? Why surround her vehicle as she’s trying to leave? Make that make sense
Like, come on y’all..... stop trying to bait situations then cry “She’s racist!” She had every right to pull the burner out because y’all provoked this bullshit! Then gone try to shout, “Trump making it real comfortable, call the police.” Lady, in this exchange, you and your daughter appeared more “racist” than that white couple....... Black people like this piss me off because they walk around with a huge ass chip on their shoulders challenging any white person to come knock it off.... That’s more dangerous than anything
I’m a black woman, and I guaranTEE you, if that woman came at me like that and then tried to block my vehicle from leaving, she’d be staring down the barrel of my 9 mm subcompact, too.... People be trippin, trippin.... smh.
People seem to be torn about who was in the wrong here. Some say the white woman should have never brandished her gun, while others say the black woman should have just walked away after getting her license plate number instead of continuing to escalate the situation.
A family member of the black woman and daughter claims the white woman was arrested and released:
Update ! She has been arrested but that’s not enough !
— Makay (@makaysmith10) July 2, 2020
Update!!!!! They were let go !!! The police just took the guns away !!! Ridiculous!!!! They said they couldn’t arrest her because my niece mother hit there car (with her hand ) to stop them from hitting my niece!!! Justice needs to be served! This is white privilege
— Makay (@makaysmith10) July 2, 2020
However, Sgt. Dale Brown, a spokesman for the Oakland County Sheriff's Office, told Insider that no one had been arrested. He confirmed an investigation was ongoing and would be forwarded to the prosecutor's office for potential criminal charges.
Who do you think was in the wrong?
Also...
A Starbucks Karen made headlines recently after she blasted a barista for refusing to serve her without a face mask. Amber Lynn Gilles hopped on Facebook after she was refused service in a San Diego Starbucks for not wearing a mask.
"Meet lenen from Starbucks who refused to serve me cause I'm not wearing a mask. Next time I will wait for cops and bring a medical excemption," she captioned a picture of the barista.
People in her comments were letting her have it:
Her post ended up backfiring because a GoFundMe was created for the barista - named Lenin Gutierrez - and it have gotten over $102,000! He said he plans to use the money to further his education and donate to charity.
Peep his interview below:
youtube
Of course, Starbucks Karen doesn't think she did anything wrong:
“I never threatened him.” Hear from woman who was denied service at a Clairemont Starbucks for refusing to wear a mask. She publically shamed the barista. A Go Fund Me Page on his behalf is now over $22,000. She says she’s getting death threats. #nbc7 & https://t.co/ylvk5rP6Vf pic.twitter.com/gCREw0LR5V
— Artie Ojeda (@ArtieNBCSD) June 25, 2020
Karen will Karen. She has the NERVE to threaten to sue this man for the money he made via the GoFundMe. She said she wants some of the money and is threatening to sue the GoFundMe creator for defamation and slander. Ma'am, YOU are the one who started this! You publicized this first, so you can't sue for defamation.
This Karen - aka Susan Schulz from Montclair, NJ - called the police on a black lawyer couple who was building a pation in their OWN backyard. She said they needed a permit and allegedly went to the yard a few times to demand to see it. Then, she claimed assault. Turns out, they didn't even need a permit! Peep the clip above.
Law And Crime reports:
In the video, Susan Schulz, whose LinkedIn page lists her as chief of the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Toxics Compliance Section, is shown calling the police and accusing Fareed Nassor Hayat, an attorney and law professor at City University of New York (CUNY) School of Law, of “pushing [her] off his property” following a dispute over a patio permit.
The Montclair Police confirmed to The Record that they responded to a call concerning the altercation and are investigating the incident.
Fareed broke down what happened when Permit Karen came in his yard:
It has happened again. White entitlement and black hate embodied in Susan who lives on Marion Road and works at the EPA, called the police to lodge a false report of assault against me when told to leave our property. Susan, aka "Permit Karen,” came onto our property three times within thirty minutes to demand to know if we had the proper permit to install a stone patio in our backyard, on the other side of the fence of her yard. When asked if a permit was required by law, she said she didn’t know, but insisted we answer her questions and submit to her demands, or she would call the police to force us to stop improving our home. (A permit is not required in Montclair for a stone patio this size. This fact was known to us through our own independent research, our contractor and later verified when building and safety arrived at our home to investigate her complaint.) When challenged about her flawed legal conclusions, assumption of right, her lack of agency over our home and our eventual demand that she leave our property immediately, Susan decided to call the police and make a false report of assault. She invoked centuries of brutality in her call to the police and sought to put her black neighbors back in their place. She believed that we were required to answer her questions and smile while doing so. But to her surprise, her efforts were met by two proudly black human beings, parents, lawyers, law professors, activist, community members, neighbors, citizens and fighters, who refused to submit. Her efforts were also met by a collection of largely white neighbors, who refused to simply go along with her racist efforts or not stand up against her attempt to invoke the racist power of the state through police. Their efforts were antiracist ideology at work. Each neighbor declared to her and the police that she summoned, that she was a lie and no such assault occurred. She left our home, rejected and unfulfilled, yet still empowered to do future harm. To her Black Lives Don’t Matter when up against her presumed inalienable rights of whiteness. She did not see the flaw in her ways or apologize for her behavior. Her type, the racist, must be rejected and ostracized like she was today by Norrinda and I, but equally important, by our white neighbors here in Montclair and our white and non-white allies worldwide.
Sighs...just mind your business Karen.
In another incident...
This happened today at Gibson and Arnold in Houston. This is a Houston Area Attorney. We are looking for info so that the bar can hear about this conduct. Twitter let’s get it... pic.twitter.com/t9BIhRiInq

A Houston woman called her boss the n-word after she was fired and it was caught on video.
The unidentified woman repeatedly used the racial slur and called her boss a "motherf***er" while busting out a freestyle rap. “Let’s make some raps for the n***er,” she said in the video. Chile....
Peep the clip above.
According to reports, she was a temp who was immediately removed after her racist rant. The company claims she was intoxicated.
Update! The employee was fired. Here is one of her owners stating that the employee was intoxicated and being fired by the black employee in the video. The black man was her manager. pic.twitter.com/cthjdhIOoE

  Glad she's outta there.

So my husband stopped at #LittleCaesars for a quick bite, husband brings this home! I’m truly disappointed. This is truly saddening and disturbing and not funny at all! These aren’t funny jokes and shouldn’t be made period and on company time?! pic.twitter.com/zQaXecN2se

An Ohio couple ordered a pizza from Little Caesars only to be shocked when they opened the box. Jason Laska said he bought the pizza Saturday night in Brook Park and when he got home, his wife discovered the pepperoni had been arranged as a swastika - a symbol adopted by Adolf Hitler and was turned into a symbol of hatred.
“[My wife] turned and asked me, ‘Babe, did you order this, did they make it for you?’ And I turned around and looked at it and I could see the shock on her face and then my jaw just dropped,” Laska told WJW-TV.
“[The employees] told him that it was supposed to be an internal joke that they were playing on each other and the other employee, and the pizza was never intended to go out,” Laska said.
The couple called the pizza restaurant and they were told that the employees put the symbol on the pizza as an "internal joke" on each other. The manager assured the couple the employees involved were terminated.
Little Caesars confirmed in a statement that the chain fired the employees involved in the offensive incident.
“We have zero tolerance for racism and discrimination in any form, and these franchise store employees were immediately terminated,” a spokesperson told the outlet. “We’re deeply disappointed that this happened, as this conduct is completely against our values.”
