Am I the only one who likes to shove the Shalkaverse Doctor in between John Hurt and Christopher Eccleston? Like, The Day of the Doctor didn't actually show Nine's first seconds, just the War Doctor beginning to regenerate. So couldn't the Shalka Doctor have come after the War Doctor? And he rebuilds the Master as an android, not realizing that he is actually under a Chameleon Circuit at the end of the universe. In Time of the Doctor, Eleven even mentioned having an android boyfriend at one point.

It's not a perfect theory, but it makes me happy.

This is why I also headcannon that shalka doctor built shalka master to look like Delgado master because he missed the first master isn’t he romantic

Also yes I can see I accidentally made Shalka master a bit taller but I also accidentally made Delgado master a bit shorter. But no worry I stole his and 3’s bodies from a pair of mis size dolls so they are randomly short together

it's him, you tell yourself. (the drink burns your throat with more certainty than that.)

it's him, you insist, you are frozen in contemplation of a darkened bedroom and the familiar skin of a back. familiar because you built it, you designed every freckle, every mark,

(you swallow. it settles in your stomach. heavy. heavy. it's a light drink, but when it hits your empty stomach it rests like chains.)

it's him. or rather, you built it exactly like him, but it's not him, not really.

(he turns to you and in the dim light you can see how well you crafted that eyebrow, how neatly it raises, maybe the one, perfect thing you captured.)

you can joke about old times but you see the way the implanted memories have the clarity of a computer as he accesses them, and nobody but you would be able to tell the difference.

(he says your name quietly. you swallow another mouthful of drink.)

but you know, you know that thin smile isn't quite accurate,  even if you're the only one that it matters to

(he says your name, louder, god, you are a coward, you want anything but this)

and it matters. it matters so, so much, a constant awareness of wrongness. if he's too nice to you, you wonder if... if what? if you altered his program on a night when you got so blackout drunk

(doctor, he says instead, it sounds like a plea and you feel heavy and dizzy)

because you were trying to ignore the way that when you touch, skin to skin, his fingers stroking yours curling when it should be two into one--

(the invitation drips from him, "come to bed," he says softly, and then, like a switch, like you designed his systems, which you did, you won't ever forget that, he grinds out: "surely your self-indulgent sulking can be postponed?" you swallow the rest of your drink and think about dying.)

you can feel the TARDIS echoing underneath what should just be him, propping up this absurd facsimile of someone you have hated             and                    adored.

("I'm not tired," you lie, you want him to laugh, maybe that will prove decisively if you have become a tyrant, and he...)

drinking seems to be the best way to numb how much it hurts. you think you wouldn't have changed him,

(and he doesn't laugh. he crosses his arms and his mouth tightens in an unfamiliar way and his unfamiliar voice says, "you are the worst liar." he is right. another perfect recreation. he was always right about you, especially now that he's dead and you built his ghost because you can't live without being haunted by it everyday.)

but you can't know, really, not for sure, can never be certain, and the thought is almost revolting enough to convince you to never drink again

(except for tonight, when you will, and tomorrow, and the day after and he will watch you and say nothing and what will he think? you do not know. he is not there. you are weeping at an empty grave.)

Personally my one wish would be to have them start the new series with Eccelston as the 10th doctor and moved from there. Imagine a world where Shalka is canon :D

i’ll do both, kind of as a compare/contrast, because i feel like in my mind anyway those TARDIS teams are parallel AUs with different angles on similar stuff:

Sleeping headcanons

the doctor and master sleep together in both AUs and the master helps the doctor with their nightmares. 

s!m is the little spoon but shalka!m is the big spoon.

s!m does dreamleading to avoid nightmares, or else ten never sleeps at all. shalka!m makes sure the Doctor feels safe after nightmares. also, since he doesn’t sleep, he will notice if they stop breathing and make sure they get oxygen or inhaler or whatever. 

the TARDIS cats sleep on top of Alison (HC nabbed from @modernwizard ?)

sometimes Bill visits 10/s!m just so she can get some extra sleep: they can go into the vortex and she can have a rest day (or three) and come back to work/uni roughly the same time she left. especially if ‘Razor’ sets the coordinates. ten sometimes gets the date wrong and has to write a Doctor’s Excuse to UNIT for her.

when companions’ girlfriends are over, the TARDISes make sure they aren’t disturbed by wandering distracted timelords.

Favorite photograph headcanons

ten has a lot of pictures of past companions up, but especially likes this one photo taken by the TARDIS cctv of this one time that they and s!m fell asleep snuggled together on the sofa.

let’s be real both these doctors are awfully nostalgic… shalka!doctor has photos of old companions, too, but they keep them hidden in a carved wooden box. some of the photos are blank, because they are of people who got erased in the time war. they actually don’t look at their old photos because they’re afraid to see more of them go blank.

Alison and Bill take a lot of phone photos during their excurisions, even if they can’t always put them on instagram (although you’d be surprised what alien stuff will pass as photoshopped)Alison likes getting the group selfies, especially later when Shalka!Master can leave the TARDIS to join adventures. she and Levona probably take way too many pictures of each other, except there’s no such thing as too many. Alison just hasn’t yet told her family that her girlfriend is from 100 years in the future.Bill prefers artistic photos that look like manips but are actually just alien stuff from enigmatic angles.

It's such a fascinating and bizarre setup? She's the Doctor's prisoner, which means that even if he were inclined he couldn't demand too much of her. But the Doctor is also her jailer, which means that SHE can't go too far. It's so odd and probably ridiculously dysfunctional, but also probably the closest thing they've had to a stable relationship in a thousand years. THANK YOU STEVEN MOFFAT THIS WHOLE PLOT ARC IS A GIFT

The Accidental Ambassador, my Scream of the Shalka fanfic, is FINALLY FINISHED over at AO3. In this excerpt, Alison and the Master discuss how she’s got to get gone:
