We are excited to share that for this year’s homecoming, NAA is participating in a first-of-its-kind partnership with The First-Gen Shop.

We are adopting apparel from The 1865 Collective to serve as this year’s homecoming paraphernalia for the NAA.

Part of the proceeds will go toward scholarships for Shaw University students–many of whom are first-generation.

I’d like to give thanks to Dr. Eve (‘09) for her willingness to serve, commitment to uplifting our mission, and dedication to making this happen.

It is the best feeling when you can capture people in the act of doing good and supporting the lives of the black community.Thanks again @tito_____lounge! Downtown #Raleigh has many streets down town that are named after slaves owners til this day. MLKJr. Blvd. is also next to Shaw where it leads into the worst part of Raleigh, as most MLK street names do. These streets surrounds my alma mater #shawuniversity est. 1865 🐻, which was the first HBCU IN THE SOUTH, founded by Henry Martin Tupper. It was the first school to offer a four year medical program and first to open its doors to women and now our 18th president is a beautiful black woman, Dr. Pauline Dillard. • • • In 1997, 10 soldiers were awarded for their duty in WWII after #Shawu conducted research to why black soldiers from World War II did not receive the capstone award offered by the military as did white veterans. • • • #shawuniversity is the birthplace of many outstanding HBCU’s in the Carolina’s such as North Carolina Central University #NCCU, Elizabeth City State University #ECSU, #FayettevilleStateUniversity, also North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State #NCAT was housed at Shaw University it’s first year. • • • Shaw University contributed 133 million to Wake County’s economic growth in 2013..GIVE US OUR PEACE! https://www.instagram.com/p/CBjWIQDJMZv/?igshid=1qwcry73frsxr

Letaba Elephant Hall, an elephant museum that covers the evolution of elephants, their biology, behaviour, ecology and, best of all, the ivory of eight of Kruger's greatest tuskers. Tuskers are the Kruger National Park's largest elephant bulls to wander the park between the 1930s and the 1980s. These include what became known as the 'Magnificent Seven': Kzombo, Joao, Kambaku, Mafunyane, Nlulamithi, Shawu and Shingwedzi.
