MEME FULFILLED PROPHECY

Despite being a mass of potholes and quite repetitive, PIDW is very popular, popular enough to have a community of fans. This means not only having fanart, fics and even merchandise, but also an entire culture, with fandom lore and yes, even memes.

One of those was “When Mobei-Jun gets married” it was used to indicate something that would never happen, like “when hell will freeze over” or “when pigs will fly”. It was so popular that there were even some variants, like “it happen at Mobei-Jun’s wedding” or “when Airplane marries Mobei-Jun off”

Shen Yuan really liked this meme because it was supported by canon: there had been several scenes where after a fight, Luo Binghe would look over the spoils and let his right hand man pick a boon. Despite the ever-present trembling maidens, Mobei-Jun would always pick a weapon, or in an instance an ancient relic that had once belonged to his clan. So yeah, Shen Yuan used it pretty often, once he even let it slip out IRL, but luckily no one got the reference.

He even used it once in a thread that went viral: it was a pointless debate over OP’s incorrect interpretation of an arc. Shen Yuan was clearly right, he even had quoted several chapters to prove his point and so the other user had resorted to personal insults. OP had typed something like “You are ridiculous! When will you admit that you are actually a fan of the novel and not an hater?!” To which Shen Yuan had responded with “When Mobei-Jun gets married”

Now, this should have ended the discussion in Shen Yuan’s favor: the meme usually got lots of likes regardlessly of the context, and so he would have won the debate.

But OP for reason had decided to tag Airplane Shooting Towards the Sky himself.  “Great Master Airplane, would you marry Mobei-Jun if it means getting Peerless Cucumber admitting that he likes your story?”

To everyone’s surprise the author (sleep deprived an high on caffeine and energy drinks) actually did answer “Damn, I would marry Mobei-Jun for free”.

True to his writing style Airplane dropped the bomb to never addressed it again. That comment had started another meme, although less popular than the other about Mobei-Jun having been married the whole time to the author himself and the ship AirplaneXMobei became the most popular for the character. There few fans that had written crackfics had been insufferable about it, even resurrecting the ‘I shipped X before it was cool’ format just to flex.

After transmigrating into the scum villain and masterfully avoiding the original good’s fate, Shen Yuan one day receives an invitation to a wedding, accompanied by a mission by the System that just says ‘True to your word: User must respect the vow he once made’. Shen Yuan immediately understands what this is about: he would rather jump into the Endless Abyss than do that.

MXTX Main Characters on if I think they would use an ad blocker or not:

Shen Yuan: Does not use an ad blocker, mainly because he pays for ad-free versions of everything if they're offered. Probably lectures on "economic necessity of ads" if anyone were to bring it up to him and bitches endlessly on social media every time ads get more annoying/intrusive but ultimately does nothing about it.

Luo Binghe: As a kid, it never even crosses his mind that it's something you CAN do. As an adult, only if the ads annoy or inconvenience him. Doesn't really care either way about the moral/ethical principles.

Wei Wuxian: Wrote his own ad blockers, probably from a shockingly young age. Will also forcibly/stealthily install them on all of his loved one's stuff. His siblings have not seen an ad in a decade and have not noticed.

Lan Wangji: Will patiently sit through any ad that is presented to him. It does the advertisers no good, as he is not interested in anything that they are trying to sell him. The algorithm is still trying to categorize him to this day.

Xie Lian: Does not use an ad blocker because he does not understand how technology works. He might accidentally have some sort over ad blocker due to the fact that all of his tech is so old that the ads don't display properly on it.

Hua Cheng: The one that I have the least strong opinion on, tbh. Probably would, but only on a matter of principle/for privacy reasons. The stuff he REALLY wants to keep private (aka his Xie Lian shrines) are all strictly off line and can't be traced to him, so I don't see him caring too much one way or the other.

I’ve seen a few reverse transmigration SVSSS stories, but one of my favourite ones mentions that SQH updates PIDW and the comments go wild. It also mentions SQQ absolutely roasting him for it.

Personally, I think it would have been funny if there was a fanfic where this happens and SQH slaps back with a, “You didn’t realize your husband was gay until you were making out. You can’t talk SHIT TO ME” and the comments EXPLODE IN ECSTASY. Can you imagine, can you actually imagine this? This would be the most anti-fan hate reading critic known to literally everyone who’s read PIDW doing his usual roast after years of being gone and the author reveals that not only is this fool married, but that he knows the author personally, and that he is an oblivious moron when it comes to romance. I think SQQ would simply cease to exist when he realizes but not before he claps back too, and they go on a multi comment page rant at each other revealing that they know each other super well and that they’re some how related to each other (SQH says that SQQ is married to his son but SQQ hits back with stop calling him your son and its very confusing for the comments). It becomes a living legend, sonic for justice style.

Look, I know, canonically, Shen Yuan read PIDW in only 20 days, but I love thinking of him as a long-time hater/reader for silliness implications. Obviously he and Airplane don't know each other IRL, but imagine Airplane being like "Damn if I had to cast someone as SQQ, it'd be this guy just for the pure, scathing energy he radiates."

This is all well and good on its own, but it's also such a hilarious reason for SY to look like SQQ, even if it's only a little. Like he looks in a mirror the first time after transmigration and he's almost terrified because that's his face what the fuck???

It's more ethereal/inhumanly beautiful, but it's definitely his face. He can't tell if it's due to the System or what (it's definitely not and SQH never ever tells him)

Everyone is always like "Hua Cheng P.O.V this, Lan Wanji P.O.V that" but let's be real here guys.

Of any of the romantic interests, Luo Binghe would have the most interesting story from his P.O.V, man's got thrown into what is pretty much hell and had to crawl his way back out. You are going to get a much more interesting book from his p.o.v then Hua Cheng which would be something along the lines of " Gege, Gege, gegeeeeee...... Gege" or Lan Wanji which is just gonna be an erotica of Wei Wuxian with a few plot points.

That being said, I would read all three in a heartbeat (also Luo Binghe would have some weird obsession thing going on the entire book to)

My fav Bingliushen dynamic is when Binghe is all "yeah, you can never have him, Liu Quingge, he's mine and you don't deserve the dirt under his fingernails, you are too weak and pathetic to even look at Shizun and...hey, where are you going? Where are you going?! Are you looking at other men, Liu Quingge?!? You dare to look to other men when Shizun is here, the most perfect man in the world! You'll never find a better man!! Genuinely think that SQQ being a dick to SQH at any possible chance during peak meetings saved a lot of suspicious from the other peak lords. Him being one of those petty online friends but in real life makes all the peak lords just accept that the much nicer SQQ actually is SQQ because look at that! He called SQH a talentless hack of a man and hit him with his fan! It might be more expressive that SQQ was before but the spirit is still the same!! Of course SQH and SQQ both are besties 4ever in this instance but to others it doesnt look like that lmao
