SOMETHING OLD, SOMETHING BLUE, SOMETHING NEW

Two new horses has arrived at Black Onyx Equestrian today! First one is our new boarder, which coincidently also is a woman from our staff, Nicolette Anderson. The new horse is her own private horse, recently bought from Patchwork Rescue Farm before it closed down. Her name is Solvei, and she is an Iceland Horse.

As the horse already know some of our other boarders (Old Man and PRF Patches) I predict it to be easy to make her a part of the boarding herd.

The other horse that has arrived is a still young gelding with the name of BOE Kismet's Keener. He is an offspring of ours from years ago. As Luna BlueLake couldn't keep him anymore due to downsizing - and she has been his owner since he was a foal - we accepted to take him back to our stable.

Sunny was the first one to meet him. She is also the gelding's mother. As they met they seemed to kinda recognize each other. I am looking forward to let our other Shetlandspony, Kaki Golden, into the pasture too. But even if he is the sire of Keener, he is so very spicy, and not easy to introduce to new pasture mates, so that will be a job for later.

Thank you for following us! Due to money problems (IRL it's me having too much going on, too many stables) we have been needing to close down Patchwork Rescue Farm, sadly. We thank you for the support that has been given to us over the last few months, but everything has an end, even something as good as this.

We will soon be moving the horses we have kept (which is my Patches and also Old Man) to @blackonyxequestrian, where you can keep following us, if you want to.

Both Sarah and I has been looking for new jobs, and has accepted the jobs as grooms (and occasionally trainers of young or troubled horses) at Black Onyx Equestrian, and are both looking forward to intertvine our story with theirs. Hopefully I can take over their blog once in a while to post a little about my family: The Bruun Family.

Good news is though that our daughter Ellie has been allowed to ride one of the small shetlandsponies owned by BOE/Hera Cole, so she can finally begin her riding journey. That's just lovely!

fik ik nogen shetlandspony i julegave, men det går nok. er i gang med at spare sammen til selv at købe en og tage mig af den uden økonomisk støtte fra mine forældre. glæder mig virkelig meget til den dag.

der er et sted på gåturen om søen, hvor der altid står nogle heste og græsser. jeg har altid været bange for heste, fordi de er så store og altid har virket umulige at læse. farlige. men siden jeg er begyndt at gå turen, har jeg udfordret den frygt og tvunget mig selv at gå hen til hegnet og i det mindste række hånden ud, om de ville hilse eller ej, når jeg kom forbi. med tiden har jeg helt vænnet mig til det. og er begyndt at se frem til det. for hver gang jeg er i stand til at komme i kontakt med en af dem, føles det kæmpe stort. der er noget helt specielt ved at være i kontakt med sådan et dyr. sindige, kalder mor dem. og jeg forstår nu det ord. i dag kunne jeg næsten ikke vente med at nå til indhegningen. jeg havde ikke telefonen eller en ven med, så jeg glædede mig til ikke at være helt alene. den fineste shetlandspony stod stille og roligt ved hegnet, som om den ventede på mig. jeg nærmede mig, og den tog et skridt frem. og så lod den mig klappe den. slikkede min hånd. lænede mulen op ad mit bryst, mens jeg klappede langs halsen. jeg ved ikke, hvor lang tid, jeg stod der, men det var rart. og trygt. jeg havde været alene i to dage, og nu var jeg pludselig ikke alene. den var venlig og blød og slet ikke bange af sig. måske også fordi at jeg endelig er begyndt at kunne det samme, når jeg møder mennesker

BOYS WILL BE BOYS

Boys will indeed be boys. Barely a week ago we was allowed the opportunity to buy a horse we breed some time ago back. Small boy BOE Kismet's Keener aka Kismet was released into the pasture with his mother shortly after arrival, as he had been gelded at new owner, and today was the time for Kaki - his father/sire - to join them.

It was no 'big happy family' though. Not that they fought for real exactly, but both geldings reared up, and kicked at each other with their front legs. This picture is taken just moments before Sunny interviened and told the boys to calm down and behave xD

I thought I wouldn't have anymore foals. I thought Vaia had just gotten fat. But apparently she was pregnant, and not just one foal came out but two! 

Please welcome Expresso (the black one) and Ventura (the chestnut one). I have already promised @Hannah Bryan the filly, but the black colt I will be keeping! He is just so pretty.

Nu hvor jeg snart får su med handicaptillæg, så overvejer jeg lidt at lave en opsparingskonto til næste lejlighed eller bare generelt spicy stuff. Men vil også have en anden opsparing, hvor jeg kan spare op til en shetlandspony. Er det en god ide ??
