i feel like one of the biggest things the mdzs fandom tends to forget is that lan wangji is silly
like yes he's stoic and jade faced and perfect but he also:
blushes SO often
loves bunnies and anything related to them
throws little tantrums when he's away from his husband for too long
gets flustered easily
is a MENACE when drunk
messes around with his husband
buried his son in a bunny pile
is a biter
so yes, whilst hanguang-jun is a big scary warlord, lan wangji is just a silly guy who likes bunnies and messing around with his husband :3

One thing that makes me laugh about WWX being resurrected is he’s like “Everyone thinks my new body is gay and insane. So I’ll just be like that!” And proceeds to act exactly like he always has in the past. Like Wei Ying baby, your audacity has always been both gay and insane. You are not fooling anyone. I would say you’re just giving yourself permission, but since when have you ever needed it?

You know the Canon Jiang Cheng tag was never made to be a "safe space" for JC antis when JC antis literally already had other tags for their posts that JC fans respectfully stay out of (Anti JC tag, JC critical tag, JC bashing tag etc).
You already had tags for your community. You made the Canon Jiang Cheng tag to demean Jiang Cheng fans and act as though your interpretations are gospel and you know it. Not only that, you use this tag to mock and insult us in the same breath.
Your community has been just as bad for jumping on fans for simply liking a character. Your community has even willingly entered JC fan spaces, screenshot our prompts, and fanfictions just to laugh at them with all your mates. So yes, actually. JC antis have been VERY vile towards other fans, too.
As someone who came in as a Wangxian fan first, I left that community and strayed away from the mainstream side towards the JC side because of all the bullying within the Wangxian community in general.
Your bullying doesn't even stop with JC fans. You've bullied JGY fans, BottomJi fans, Chengxian fans, and Xicheng fans alike. You have turned away so many people just because they're enjoying a work of fiction in the way you don't like. So stop acting like you're a victimised community. You are not. You are still able to enthuse about your favourite characters in the main tags without receiving hate for it. If we did that, we have to be prepared with the block button or risk facing a barrage of hate from the nasty side of the Wangxian community.
I'll stand here and condemn the misbehaviour of toxic JC fans who bully people. But I expect you JC antis to do the same with the people on your side of the fandom. The fact is, you never do. All I see on this tag is JC antis belittling fans, then playing victim the moment you are called out for your needless character and fan bashing.
Accept accountability and grow up.

lan wangji and lan sizhui's relationship isn't discussed enough!
a-yuan was the reason lan wangji lived and i will stand by it as long as i have to.
i'm not talking about living in a physical sense. he would've done so being the light bearer he is, but the peerless hanguang-jun lost his light the second he knew wei wuxian breathed his last.
hanguang-jun was just that, a light bearer, not the source of it. he was the moon that depended on the sun to provide it to the people, but he already lost his sun.
he probably would've gotten sucked into the black hole that was left behind after his star died that he did not realize there was another sun right beside it until he heard the faint cries of a child.
a-yuan. (he was the sun that the last of qishan wen couldn't even hope to be.)
it's the ways in which lan wangji and sizhui's interactions are so subtly domestic that melts my heart completely.
the relationship they share that of a guardian-ward, of a father-son.
the way sizhui (along with jingyi and a few other lan juniors) scream 'hanguang-jun!' and are able to smile while being held hostage really says a lot about both the trust they have in him and how safe they feel around him.
sizhui saying that feels as if he has nothing to fear or worry about, so long as lan wangji or wei wuxian were around. the bone deep trust that he has that he will be safe if he's around either of them even if he was in the middle of a literal death trap had me pause for a few seconds to let myself bawl out.
it's in the way sizhui so willingly and so enthusiastically interacts with lan wangji while everyone around him (except a few of the lan juniors) are scared witless to even breathe the same air as him. even the lan juniors don't seem to have the ease that sizhui has. (okay, this may probably be me over reading into it, but i really did feel that way while reading.)
and, my favorite interaction, sizhui encountering that lan wangji buried a-yuan in a pile of rabbits will never ever make me stop smiling like an idiot.
they have one of the healthiest parent-child relationship i've seen and i so, so long for it.
it's as surprising as it is devastating how less they're talked about. a crime really.

Wei Wuxian licks his lips and leans forward slightly, walking his fingers across the countertop aimlessly toward Lan Zhan. “You know, Lan Zhan,” he drawls, “A-Yuan says we’re both in the book.”
“Mn,” Lan Zhan responds, tracking the path of his fingers intently, “I am apparently Hanguang-jun, the moral upstanding hero.”
“And I’m the devious Yiling Loazu, who led you astray,” he smirks, peering at Lan Zhan through his lashes.
Lan Zhan meets his stare, head-on, lit from within like molten sunshine. “No,” he corrects, “not astray, Wei Ying.”
Wei Wuxian tilts his head, waiting for him to continue. His fingers stop their dancing, resting just inches away from Lan Zhan.
Lan Zhan shifts his own hand, bringing them even closer, their fingertips almost brushing.
“The Yiling Loazu did not lead Hanguang-jun astray,” he says, eyes piercing as they flicker between Wei Wuxian’s. “They were partners, and…”
“Ah,” Wei Wuxian breathes, “the decent romance?”
Lan Zhan doesn’t answer, watching him closely. The pupils of his eyes have grown so large there’s only the tiniest ring of gold around the edge. He can see himself reflected in the black. He thinks he likes the version of himself that lives in Lan Zhan’s eyes.
They’re standing on the edge of a cliff, waiting for the other to take a step forward, bracing for a fall.
It should be terrifying, this sudden drop into something completely new, something entirely unknown yet so familiar. But Wei Wuxian is filled with conviction that no matter what, Lan Zhan will catch him.
It's as electrifying as it is calming, this certainty that here, with Lan Zhan, he is safe.
Wei Wuxian tilts his head to the side in a way he knows sets the unmarked skin of his neck on display. “I’m sure it was more than just decent, with a handsome hero like Hanguang-jun.”
Lan Zhan quirks an eyebrow, his gaze resting on the curve of Wei Wuxian’s neck, just as he’d hoped. "Handsome?"
“Well,” Wei Wuxian responds, tapping his index finger so it brushes against Lan Zhan’s fingertips. His skin is soft and perfect, just like the rest of him. “He isn’t wrong. You’re very handsome, Lan Zhan.”
“Really, Wei Ying?” Lan Zhan says, voice quiet and deep.
“Yep, definitely worthy of being compared to the beautiful Second Jade of Lan.”
“Is that so?” Lan Zhan shifts closer, the smell of him filling up Wei Wuxian. He smells so familiar, like something he knows intimately. Sandalwood, Wei Wuxian realizes, with sudden clarity.
Lan Zhan continues, “I would love to hear more about your opinion on my beauty and prestige, Wei Ying.”
“You don’t know anything about me, Lan Zhan. Why would you care what I think?”
Lan Zhan tilts his head, only just. “Do I need to? To want to know how your brain works?”
I commissioned this lovely artwork by the wonderful @lotuslate of a scene from my fic, once upon a time, 很久很久以前 where the entire cultivation world is cursed to live in the modern world without their memories and abilities, but of course wangxian find a way to fall in love all over again.

MDZS thought of the day.
Selflessness and self-sacrifice does not equate to a low self worth or a hero complex. Wei Wuxian is selfless. Being able to make a hard decision in a fucked up situation is pragmatic.
I feel like people take Wei Wuxian's ability to be resolute in the face of sacrifice to mean he has no self-worth. That's very much not the case. Wei Wuxian has very strong morals and values that he doesn't waver from and that allows him to assess a situation and come to a decision that he can live with, even if it isn't ideal. We see this in his acceptance of losing his hand and giving his core away. Please note though, that these are extreme cases with high stakes. He assessed the situation and came to what he deemed the best conclusion.
Wei Wuxian knows his worth. He does not make it a habit of putting himself in senseless danger. He thinks about the situation before acting.
I write all this to say, Wei Wuxian would not put himself in senseless danger and disrespect his husband's agency by continuously trying to make it seem like he tricked him into being with him. I truly believe that a part of Lan Wangji's appeal for Wei Wuxian is his competence. Lan Wangji was someone who not only matched him but he could totally rely on with no major worries.
We are also shown this in canon, when they were in the Jin tower. On the steps, Wei Wuxian gives Lan Wangji an out but when Lan Wangji shows his decision, he never asks again. There is no begging Lan Wangji to reconsider or trying to convince him that he's not good enough. He just respects Lan Wangji's decision and appreciates his loyalty and trust.
Anyway, this post has run away from me. Idk what I'm trying to say 😭. I hope you enjoyed my stream of consciousness.

Thinking about Lan Qiren being online and I'm pretty sure that he would fall for the Smooth Sharks Fallacy like every single time.
People would try and explain it to him and it wouldn't matter. He would still keep trying to bring academic articles into pie fights.

believe it or not, I was a HUGE Wei wuxian stan when I first entered the fandom. like borderline simp thats how hard I was stanning. then I went on Tumblr and met a bunch the fans and they were kinda.... well
a whole bunch of them were literally worshipping wwx and being like "he's the best protag in the history of protags and he is flawless and has committed no wrongs ever" "him killing people so badass" "everyone he killed, accident or not deserved it 100%" and then shitting aggressively on every other character that has directly or indirectly even slightly wrong or contradict him like the classics Jiang Cheng and jiggy etc etc, even lan xichen once in a while for some weird reason like ???????
the tone was a little strange like if I dipped my toes into the Wei wuxian simpstan pool then they are wading into it towards the deep end at full speed
ofc there are lots of rather lovely wwx stans out there too but its just the cluster of weird people radiating a almost cultlike vibe that just kind of ruined it for me
still love wwx, wonderful little gremlin guy, super cute design, has a minidoll, posters and some badges of him, nicely flawed character, love a good meta about him, but the flame of admiration has just been lowkey put out because of the HIGHKEY off putting little cluster of Wei wuxian cultist/simps
is it a me exclusive experience or have you encountered the Wei Wuxian Worshiper Cult in the vast labyrinths of Tumblr.com please let me know in the comments

Im so sorry but this has bothering me for years and needs to be said
LWJ has a broken leg
In desperation they use his forehead ribbon to help bind the injury
And this... THIS is how you set the bone?
Tumblr media
Tied in one spot in the middle? The stick isnt even lined up with his damn leg! What is this supposed to accomplish? All its gonna do is rub against the cuts and make everything worse!
At least tie it in two places! Wrap it around up and down the leg! What the hell?

Part 2 of I'm reading mdzs. I flip flop between loving Jiang Cheng and hating him. Like on one hand I feel horrible for him and everything he has gone through, but on the other I can't stand his mentality. I have moments where I stop and think god this poor kid has gone through so much and cry because he deserves so much bettter. Even before everything went down the way his parents made he feel was absolutely awful, and it just gets worse and worse, and i want nothing more then to protect him. Then I remember all the things he does and how he acts. His hatred towards wei wuxian fills me with rage. No one can convince me he doesn't hate him. He loves him there's no doubt about that but he still hates him in my opinion. Wei wuxian does not deserve his hatred. The wen remnants do not deserve his hatred. I can understand why he feels the way he feels I really can but that doesn't justify slaughtering innocent people. Who cares what happens to everyone else as long as it doesnt effect me is basically his personality. Hismost redeeming qualities are his love for his sister and nephew.

Wei Wuxian has killed a lot of people. The numbers are in thousands, which is mind boggling really. But not one of those kills were for his own gain, not one murder to gain political traction, not one murder to hide his intentions or plans. He didn’t kill someone for insulting him or his parents. He has killed though in war, in revenge for decimating his sect, in self defence when pushed into a corner. His one mistake that killed Jin Zixuan, when he actually lost control, he agonised over it. He didn’t intend for it.
Please don’t put him in the same box as the people who killed just for fun, or to hide their own crimes, or a sense of superiority or whatever.
Wei Wuxian is murderous badass with morals. Thank you very much.

🧙‍♀️🔮🧛🍂It occurred to me today that I’ve read no fics where Wei Ying’s birthday being on halloween has ever come up. How is there not a fic about Wei Ying throwing an outrageous halloween party in an abandoned house and wearing some kind of Lan-Zhan-breaking sexual costume? How is this day not his whole everything? How is he not characterized as decorating his house outrageously scary starting on Sept first and not taking it down until snow starts falling on it? How is he not the guy who spends two months watching horror movies and tv shows until after midnight every night? How is he not the guy who would drive to every haunted house he can reach without a plane ticket for 8 weekends in a row. How is this not the reality we live in? 🎃👻💀🦇

Who read through the entire series, hundreds and thousands of words, and hated on the author? Peerless Cucumber. “Shit author” my ass.
It’s funny because this was literally a summary of Shen Yuan’s inner dialogue right before he went bleh. He hated on the characters(LBH’s backstory being “cliche”) , the plot (Right in the beginning, bro was like “How did I finish a horrible long-winded story?” CUZ U WERE INTERESTED; “Super illogical storyline.”) and the everything (“Stupid author. Stupid novel.”)
And just like the comments on the original Proud Immortal Demon Way, a majority of people’s reactions were “Didn’t you finish the novel?” - “Reading the novel while bashing it, you’re also an idiot!”
Plus, MXTX can obviously take inspiration from her others characters. She isn’t obligated to make every single character complete opposites, which does NOT make her a shit author. Especially since it’s her own characters, she could build them around her own morales and beliefs. Also, good or bad characters exist everywhere. Just because two characters are compassionate doesn’t mean that the author is brain dead. If you worry too much about some AMBIGUOUS similarities between two characters of the SAME author, then go outside, breathe some fresh air, and touch the fucking grass.

"Madam Yu would be a Karen/ treat minimum wage employees like shit-" literally the only servant she's shown abusing is Wei Wuxian (and that's because he's the victim of a proxy war between her and Jiang Fengmian around the idea of him being adopted into the family, not because of his class). Madam Yu's two handmaid's love and respect her, and Madam Yu actually defends them when Wang Lingjiao tries being a Karen to them. She also tells Wang Lingjiao to fuck off when she demands the Jiang servants bring her tea.
Also, Karens are unpleasant women, but not all unpleasant women are Karens. That term is about entitlement and being unreasonable (and often times, racist). Madam Yu is mean and unpleasant to talk to, but she keeps most of her interactions brief and probably doesn't have the time or mental energy to be a Karen or hold a grudge that long. If you want an actual example of a Karen in mdzs, Wang Lingjiao is right there
#mdzs#mo dao zu shi#grand master of demonic cultivation#for those confused on who I'm arguing against- this is about comments left on the “who'd be more insufferable online” tournament#I'll stop writing Madam Yu defense posts when y'all start actually looking at how she's described in the books#you guys just parrot and amplify the same “woman mean” narrative about her and its frustrating#I'm convinced most of you dont even read what she says or know she has motivations#and because i get at least one person going “so you're excusing child abuse” every time I talk about her-#No. I am not defending or excusing any of the bs she's actually done in canon#child abuse bad. theres just a lot of misinformation out there on what that abuse actually entailed#1 or 2 lashes that do not break the skin + shit talking and kneeling is a different punishment from whipping someone till they can't move#the former was her usual interaction with wwx. the later was an act to get the wens to fuck off#also can you guys please acknowledge the fact she was incredibly angry and on edge in canon because a war was about to start#and her kids and clan (but especially her kids) were being put in active danger#and that her ranting sessions happened around her family and she was venting#and that she's shown being cordial to unrelated people#she's a well respected figure. that wouldn't happen if she was a karen#and if we're looking at a modern au where there isnt a war happening she probably wouldnt be as on edge

ik it's obvious and this is a silly post but do you ever stop to think actually think about how hx is only black water sinking ships to mirror the target of his lifelong vengeance the water master who brings luck and financial prosperity to merchants and their ships in order to come back safely from their voyages, just as hx himself has no wealth to the point of asking for constant favors and brings death and destruction on his wake etc etc
meanwhile the one who's been a perfect foil to him from the start and whom he literally switched fates with has the same name as him, was born under the same stars, on the same month and on the same day, is just as optimistic and bubbly as he is pessimistic and brooding, is just as blissfully clueless as he is burdened with the weight of knowing the truth of everything that happened and what the consequences will inevitably be
