a dear writer [@lytters] asked for shinso content and i said YOUR WISH IS MY COMMAND BC I LOVE SHINSO!!!!!!!
in which you bake with shinso at 1am
Tumblr media
when shinso stumbled downstairs for a class of water during the middle of the night, he wasn’t expecting to see another soul already occupying the kitchen.
nor was he expecting it to be you, busy amidst various mixing bowls, measuring cups and baking trays. there were dozens of each, and the whirring of the oven gave him a vague idea of what you were doing.
why were you running a commercial kitchen at this hour - 1 am, of the night?
shinso hesitated as he lurked in the shadows, watching you operate in the dim yet warm lighting of the UA kitchens since he wasn’t so sure if he had the guts to talk to you. especially when his bed-hair was a mess and his shirt was wrinkled, a sign of the peaceful rest he was having, but even if he was having the slumber of his life, he did not want to appear like a mess in front of you.
at the realisation that he was being a creep and that he should probably check up on you rather than prioritising his own humility, shinso finally stepped out of the dark and walked into the luxurious kitchen.
he watches as you spoon the flour, measuring it out-
“what are you doing-”
“-huh!”
the metal spoon clanks loudly onto the counter, the offensive noise causing the both of you to wince. you notice the flour that was now all over your shirt and the counter, but more importantly, you finally notice the purple-haired's presence.
“shinso! you scared me!” you exclaimed in a hushed tone, not wanting to be loud and wake anyone up. the dorms were quite spacious, you doubt noise could travel that far but still.
“sorry,” he mutters, ignoring the way his heart was going into overdrive.
was it because of the scare or you?
it was definitely you. sweet, friendly, loveable you, who has managed to lure shinso’s heart in line and sinker without even realising it. he had his first glance at you at the UA sports festival where he managed to watch you after his match, admiring you in complete awe and fascination. what harboured as the tiniest crush then intensified during the joint training between class a and class b. thankfully, he wasn’t up against you but you were kind enough to spark conversation alongside kaminari and midoriya, all three of you beaming at him with a friendly welcome.
but he was quickly knocked back down to earth when he realised just how ferocious you could really be. he thanked his lucky stars that he wasn’t the team fighting against yours.
it’s hard to believe that the same person he’s feared and admired from afar for the past year was now baking… cookies? at 1 am.
“it’s okay,” you smile at him gently. “did you need something? why are you here?”
“i just wanted to get a glass of water and head back to bed but since you’re here-”
“-oh my gosh! i’m sorry, i don’t mean to stop you. you can go ahead.”
“no no, it’s okay. i think i’m the one that intruded,” he stumbles towards the cabinet of glasses and retrieves one, filling it up with water before chugging it down swiftly. water hits, y’know? “what are you baking instead of sleeping?
“aww, shinso, are you worried for me?”
he huffs in response. the answer is yes, he is very worried for you.
his silence doesn’t deter you, “i’m making cookies for the class. we all had our first exam of the year yesterday and we all managed to pass! that’s a record by the way. so i thought i’d do something nice for everyone.”
“do you always do this?”
you nod your head, cracking an egg into the bowl, “never by myself though. i always do it with sato but i think he’s still suffering the aftermath of a sugar high. i'm letting him sleep tonight.”
he lets your words and actions sink in for a moment. without thinking, he offers a quiet ‘would you like some help?’
you almost don’t hear him over the whirring of the oven.
“no, no, it’s okay!” you reassure, “i just have two batches left and after that i’m done! you should go back to bed.”
“are you sure?”
“some help would be nice but i don’t want to inconvenience you,” as an afterthought, you add, “besides, you rejected my invitation to cook dinner together so i kinda assumed you’re a bad cook.”
shinso sees the upturn of a smirk playing upon your lips, a sign that you were simply messing around. he remarks by saying, “hey, well now i know. will you allow me a redemption round?"
in truth, he had been deeply regretting the incident that occurred. not too long ago, you had offered for him to join you in making dinner for the class, but in a moment of panic, shinso simply became too flustered and rushed out the quickest ‘no!’ of his life before scrambling away. he didn’t catch the moment of shock that graced your features at his outburst and how you hid your disappointment at the self-conceived idea of shinso not wanting to spend time with you.
you spout something between a laugh and a gasp, “excuse you, i made the meanest chow mein that night.”
he laughs, “you did.”
shinso closes the gap between you by taking a step closer, “now, how can i help?”
you hand him the packet of unopened chocolate, commanding him to cut it into chunks.
it’s a peaceful and methodical routine you’ve established. as you instruct shinso around, you fall into a harmonious pattern of preparing and baking, with nothing but the music of your rapid heartbeats keeping you company.
as you put the last batch in the oven, you both let out a sigh of relief. a comfortable silence dawns upon you whilst you take the moment the admire shinso under the melancholic light of the kitchen. how (un)fortunate for you that such a beautiful man was now your classmate. it wasn’t helping that there was something so indescribably intimate about the night you’ve shared. baking with someone at the earliest hours of the morning was not something mere classmates did, but neither of you dared to address it, especially not when your fingers kept brushing together.
whilst the last batch cools, shinso slump down on the chair with a sigh of content, eyes beginning to feel heavy and the prospect of sleeping becomes a little too appealing. he doesn’t retreat yet though, not when he notices that you’re walking towards him with a box of cookies.
“thanks for the help,” you mutter. shinso takes the box happily, gazing upon several goods sorted neatly in the paper packaging that you had handed him.
sitting down beside him, you flash him a soft, yet genuine smile, “i’m glad you’re in class a now, shinso. we’re going to have a lot of fun together.”he can’t help but grin too, “i’m glad i’m here too.” (glad that he’s here with you, possibly the most captivating and exquisite person he’s ever met, but he won’t tell you that, not until the time is right and the music in his heart grows into a distinguishable melody only for you.)
Tumblr media
this was so quick but i couldn't resist writing it as soon as i got the inspiration!!! shinso is so SKRUNKLY AND SO CUTE!!!!!!!!
i'm not entirely happy with that i just wrote but i still think it's pretty cute :)

Nyx: I was a little surprised to see this in the comments of one of my words rather than the inbox…? I came across this ask by chance. Yes I can write this but please only send requests to my inbox (I hope it’s working right, I don’t know why it wouldn’t be..?) so I won’t miss it!
Shinso with a Secretly Yan!Reader
You really thought this man didn’t know?
Of course he did.
It might have taken him a moment to figure it out, but once he did, everything clicked.
That and his mentor is ErasureHead so…
Good luck with it staying a secret from those two.
So long as nothing gets out of hand, Erasure could be persuaded to stay out of it for the time being.
By who?
Shinso, of course!
He’s actually kind of assumed by your little antics.
He thinks it’s cute how you think you’re being so sneaky.
What?
Your stupidity is endearing to him.
He’s confident in his abilities to stop anything if he thought things were getting out of hand.
And if you threatened any of his friends?
He’d dump you and give you the slip in the same breath.
And don’t forget, he has a Pro Hero in his corner, he can send you to jail if you hurt anyone.
So while he’ll play along with you for a while, don’t think you’ve caught him.
Really he’s just bored, and enjoying a good old game of cat and mouse.
Unfortunately for you, you aren’t the mouse.

can i request somethin for Shinsou and/or Iida (my boys) with a s/o (gn or male preferably) who has a very powerful telekinesis quirk that is closely tied to their anxiety. during training or something, they have a panic attack and end up causing lots of chaos, the ground shaking and cracking and random objects (and people) begin floating and the boys have to talk them down to get to calm down? thank you so much sorry for all the words
~~~~
I had so much fun writing this! I hope I was able to capture Shinsou’s personality right😭😭 this is the first time I’ve ever written my reader insert as male and I hope I was able to do it right! @unconsciousmayhem thank you so much for the wonderful request and I apologize for only writing about Shinsou! I want to write more stuff for BNHA and that includes Iida also! I just figured I would focus more on Shinsou this time around. I hope it’s to your liking! As always feedback is welcomed! Please enjoy and I hope you guys are having a great week! 💕💕💕
~~~~
“You know you don’t have to be so nervous; everything will be fine. You’ve gotten better control over your power.” Shinsou murmured, eyes flickering over to your form as you guys walked towards the training grounds.
You could feel your throat closing, a sudden dryness taking over your mouth, your eyes darting around you rapidly. You were trying to ground yourself to reality, trying not to go into that dark and deep space in your mind. If you did… cataclysm would erupt, the ground would break and shake just like your very core. Objects and people would be flung up to the heavens, even though you yourself were a devil for causing such destruction -
“Hey.” indigo eyes were suddenly peering into yours; strong hands gripped your shoulders.
You blinked, a familiar heat creeping up the back of your neck. You cleared your throat, one of your hands coming up to the back of your head, ruffling the hair. “Sorry.”
His eyes narrowed considerably before leaning closer into yours.
“H-Hey! W-What are you doing?” You asked frantically, pressing a hand against his chest, pushing him back. “We’re in public.”
Shinsou rolled his eyes, but stepped back nonetheless. “Don’t be so cold, everyone knows we’re together.”
Of course everyone knew, both of you were the biggest gossip piece at U.A. You were from the hero department dating someone that was in the general education department, for whatever reason, people found that entirely strange. Or maybe it was the fact that you both possessed strong quirks, quirks that had the potential to be used for evil.
Which was why you guys had been in each other’s lives since you were little, you both gravitated towards each other, bullied together for having villainous quirks.
But the biggest reason why you guys were always being talked about was the fact that Shinsou had gotten into the same class as you, and he was excelling rapidly, surpassing you entirely.
While you were incredibly happy that all of his hard work was finally paying off, and he was developing friendships outside of your relationship, you had the fear that Shinsou would find you entirely pathetic, leaving you further behind and abandoning you completely.
Your hand grabbed at the front of your P.E. uniform, clenching at the fabric that stretched across your chest, your heart aching at the mere thought of Shinsou no longer being part of your life.
“Hey,” a warm rough hand rested on top of your head, ruffling the short hairs. “I don’t know what you’re thinking about, but you need to stop. I told you that everything is going to be fine, just listen to me for once, okay?”
You knocked his hand off your head, not saying anything as you walked forward to the training ground, ignoring Shinsou’s raised eyebrows at your coldness.
Usually you adored physical contact, initiating it, or asking for it. So the fact that you didn’t want his touch, well, something was definitely wrong.
Shinsou mentally noted to keep an eye on you during training; he had hoped that for once Aizawa would pair you two together.
That was wishful thinking on his part. He knew why though, both of you did. You were too dependent on him, and in Aizawa’s eyes, that was a bad thing.
Pro heroes need to be able to work with a wide variety of other heroes, there would be a slim chance of both of you working at the same agency in the future.
It was purely for your own good.
But that didn’t mean that Shinsou would ever stop himself from looking out for you, that wasn’t something he was capable of doing.
He was always looking out for you, ever since you were kids. He knew how much you’ve grown though, despite how you felt, or what you thought, he knew that you had improved over the years.
Shinsou was proud of you; there was a pride that he held in his heart at having such a strong partner who was incredibly kind and gentle, despite how destructive your quirk was.
But he also knew how bad your anxiety was, how it triggered your quirk in the worst way. You were an entirely emotional person, which wasn’t necessarily a bad thing, but sometimes… that’s what made your quirk incredibly dangerous.
“Y/n and Bakugou, I want you guys to pair up together for this training.” Aizawa said lazily, you were the last two people to get paired together.
You glanced nervously at the fuming male standing near Kirishima; flinching hard when his angry red eyes landed on you.
“I don’t want to be paired with that pretty boy.” Bakugou sneered loudly.
“Is it because you’re afraid of developing feelings for him?” Shinsou called out, an eyebrow quirking up.
You ignored the soft snickers and giggles around you, eyes being cast down at the floor.
“What the fuck did you just -” Bakugou’s face went blank, causing you sigh loudly as you looked over at Shinsou who was grinning widely.
Everyone was howling in laughter now, causing Aizawa to huff in irritation.
“Toshi.” you mumbled softly, “Don’t make my life harder, release your quirk please. I don’t need Bakugou beating my ass even more now.”
He sighed, grin fading from his beautiful face, he always listened to you, even as children, so regardless of how he felt towards the rudeness of the loud blonde, he complied.
“I don’t want your boyfriend you purple haired shit brain!” Bakugou began screaming, Kirishima holding him back.
“Why’d you call him pretty then?” Shinsou asked, tone bored.
“Because he is!” Bakugou screamed, explosions going off in his raised hands.
It was dead silent in the training ground now.
You could feel a soft heat creeping into your cheeks, you considered opening up the ground before you and jumping into it.
“So you do want Y/n?” Shinsou challenged, “I won’t let you have him.”
Mina let out a low whistle next to you. “Wow Y/n. I wish I had two boys fighting over me.”
You groaned loudly, crouching down with your head in your hands. This was too embarrassing.
“Y/n-kun it’s okay.” Midoriya encouraged on the other side of you, squatting down to pat at your shoulder as chaos erupted around you.
“Be quiet.” Aizawa snapped, his quirk activating. You stood up immediately, everyone else straightening up as silence engulfed your group.
“Get in your pairs already and start training.” He grumbled.
As everyone started walking off to meet up with their partner, you felt a gentle thump on your back, you turned to see Shinsou offering you a small smirk before he walked off towards Kaminari who was waving him down excitedly.
So that’s why he provoked Bakugou, to help ease your nerves, a soft smile twitched at your lips. He knew you too well.
You felt calm for the most part now… except…. except…
 Oh god.
Why was he looking at you like that? Bakugou was fuming, looking incredibly feral at the moment, and if it was any other time you might have thought that his face was the funniest thing you had ever seen. But today, and the fact that he was focused on you… well, you definitely wanted to run away.
In truth you had never trained with Bakugou before, you admired his wit and strength, but he wasn’t someone that you were necessarily friends with.
You were too quiet and meek to hang out with someone as angry and loud as him.
“I’m going to ruin your face pretty boy.” He sneered and launched himself at you.
Your eyes widened in shock and immediately you activated your quirk, hurling large chunks of the ground at him.
Your fight or flight senses were kicking in and your entire body urged you to run at this point. He was ferocious, quick and strong as he easily evaded your attacks.
Bakugou easily overpowered you, which caused your nerves and anxiety to skyrocket.
“Fucking fight me already you damn extra! You’re so weak compared to me.” he sneered, a wicked grin overcoming his features as he blasted another explosion at you.
You barely had enough time to yank a rock in front of you, the debris flying everywhere, but better the rock than your actual face.
You could feel the panic setting in now though, the quickness in your heart increasing rapidly, your hands sweating for another reason than the fact that you were trying to stay away from the blonde male.
He was right, you were an extra, you were weak, the fact that you couldn’t overpower Bakugou, the fact that this entire time you guys were sparring you were simply avoiding getting blasted by his quirk.
You hadn’t actually launched an attack on him yet.
What… what kind of hero were you?
At this right… at this right you weren’t going to become a hero. You were running away, what kind of hero runs away?
 All Might never ran away.
Shinsou… Shinsou never ran away either, he stood and fought, and you… you were going to get left behind.
Your breathing started to come out quick now. Your hands trembling as those voices of doubt began creeping into your mind, taking over your senses and then -
It felt like the world stopped as you began floating up. Your eyes glazed over as white began to seep into your irises, bleeding out of your pupils and covering them up completely.
The sounds around you became muffled as your arms raised up, the debris and rocks around you beginning to rise.
“What the fuck?” Bakugou’s eyes went wide as he stared at you, the ground beginning to shake, but everyone knew it wasn’t an earthquake. When Bakugou began being lifted into the air himself he couldn’t help the loud screaming and cursing that flew from his mouth as he launched multiple attacks, although, none reached you as the rocks and debris swirled around your form in a protective ring.
“Shit.” Shinsou muttered as everyone paused to look at the two of you, without even thinking about it he began sprinting over to you.
“Sensei! Y/n needs you!” Iida called out, but then the ground began cracking, splitting everyone up as they tried to gain their footing.
Aizawa struggled to make his way over to you, the quickest and easiest way to get you to calm down would be to just erase your quirk, but the shaking and the trembling of the ground, the rocks and debris flying up around everyone, he couldn’t gain his footing.
“Y/n!” Shinsou was near you now, gazing up at you with concern. You didn’t spare a glance at him, but he could clearly see the tears streaming down your face.
He knew the mental struggle that you were dealing with internally. You were struggling to bite down the emotions that were taking hold of your quirk.
“You need to stop this. I know you can do it!” He continued calling out.
 “I can’t do this.” You screamed. “I’m not strong enough. I can’t… I can’t be a hero with a quirk like this!”
You were drowning in your emotions, the anxiety swallowing you whole and numbing you.
“You are strong! You’re the strongest person I know. You’re going to be a great hero, stop saying that you’re weak! Stop letting your emotions take over like this, fight it.” Shinsou yelled back, his eyes never leaving your form.
You shook your head. “I don’t… I don’t know how-”
“What kind of hero do you want to be Y/n?” he asked, his urgent tone dying down to something softer.
“I want -” you could feel your mind going blank, the raging storm within your very core diminishing dramatically. You could feel the soft touches of his quirk, gently soothing your mind, creeping into your being tenderly.
The coldness that crept into your body began seeping away, replaced with the familiar warmth of Shinsou. You vaguely felt your body beginning to drift down, the rumbling sound of the earth coming back together, and the loud crashes of the debris falling down echoed around you.
You registered the loud cursing of Bakugou as he fell ungracefully back to the ground, and the urgent chatter of your classmates.
But your soul felt at ease now, you felt warm, safe, loved, and you knew exactly why. Shinsou’s arms wrapped tightly around you, pulling your upper body into his lap.
His strong fingers brushed at the tears that lingered on your cheeks before carefully pushing the hair away from your forehead.
You were passed out now. Your quirk leaving your body entirely exhausted and spent. But he was relieved, you were safe now, and you hadn’t injured anyone from the looks of it.
“Is Y/n okay!?” the class surrounded the two of you, peering down at you in concern.
“You just had to take things too far didn’t you Bakugou?” Kaminari scolded, followed by many other voices.
“He’s fine. When his quirk gets like this it exhausts him completely. He just needs to sleep for the rest of the day.” Shinsou said quietly, everyone completely ignoring the loud complaints from Bakugou.
“Sensei, can I take him to the infirmary?” Shinsou asked, glancing up at Aizawa.
“We’ll end class early today.” Aizawa nodded.
Wordlessly Shinsou easily shifted you onto his back, silently walking off towards the infirmary.
“Hitoshi.” you mumbled sleepily, pressing your further into his neck. “Thank you. You’ll always be my hero.”
A soft smile tugged at his lips, the grip he had on your thighs tightening. “Go to sleep.”
Shinsou ended taking you back to the dorms, his dorm. He sighed softly to himself as he once again brushed the hair off your forehead.
“Idiot. As if I would ever leave you behind.” He muttered quietly, pressing his forehead against yours gently.
He knew that was one of your fears, on top of not being a good hero. But he wouldn’t let any of that happen, he wouldn’t leave you, and he definitely wouldn’t let you become some mediocre hero either.
Exhaustion suddenly crashed down on Shinsou; his lips found the top of your head, pressing tenderly against it before he situated himself next to you on the bed, his arm slinging around your torso and tugging you closer to him.
He definitely could never leave you behind, the love of his life. Despite what you and everyone else may think, you were everything to him.
If he had to be there every time that your quirk went out of control then so be it, he’d bring you back down every single time.

Morning Coffee
A/N: hello hello! this was supposed to be a headcanon but it ended up being too long oops. i hope you enjoy! (shinsou is one of my favs hehe)
coffee-shop au
word count: 908
shinsou x gender neutral reader :)
——
Shinsou believed his life was pretty dull; wake up, go to work at the café, eat, sleep, repeat. This is how he spent everyday in the summer in hopes of saving up some money for university. Although it was monotonous, he usually didn’t have too many problems with his routine. In fact, he became quite accustomed to it.
Today, however, he was not in the mood.
The first incident was his alarm failing to wake him up, causing him to frantically run around his small apartment in search for his work attire before sprinting out the door without eating breakfast or packing a lunch like every morning. He arrived at the coffee shop 5 minutes late to his shift much to his horror. Shinsou was never late to work. His manager continuously told the hard-working employee not to worry about it (“It happens to everyone!”), but the purple-haired boy still felt a pit of guilt settle in his stomach.
Later, while taking a customer’s order, he accidentally rang up the wrong items in his stressed out haze, making the 5 item order before having to frantically apologize and remake the coffee correctly.
The last straw was while reaching up to grab a bag of coffee beans: He lost his hold for only a brief moment causing the container to spill all its contents out onto the clean floor.
It took Shinsou 20 minutes to clean up his mess.
“Why don’t you take today off? You’ve been working so much this past month you probably need a break,” his manager said sympathetically, watching Shinsou bang his head against the coffee counter.
“No, no, no. I can do this! I promise I won’t disappoint you!”
“Okay, well why don’t you just take register for the next little bit until you cool off?”
An hour had gone by of taking the morning orders, but Shinsou did not calm down. In fact, he felt worse. Lost in his state of self-deprecation, he failed to notice the person standing before him until they politely cleared their throat. Shinsou snapped his head in their direction, acknowledging their presence for the first time in the past minute they had been standing there for.
“I-I’m so sorry! What can I get for you?”
“Just a small latté, please.”
“For sure,” he quickly typed the order into the cash register before announcing the customer’s total.
“Have you guys been busy today?” they said as their credit card was inserted into the register.
“H-huh? Oh ya, mornings usually have the most traffic,” he handed them their receipt and informed them that they’d call out their order when it’s ready.
“Well, hopefully the morning rush ends soon. Thanks for the coffee!”
“Oh, no problem. Have a good day.”
The bubbly stranger nodded with a kind smile on their lips, before walking down to the end of the counter to wait for their order. Shinsou lips tipped up slightly as he felt his frustrations from earlier lighten up just a bit.
---
From that day on, Y/N, as Shinsou would learn was their name, came in every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday morning like clockwork.
“Do you work everyday?” They asked while Shinsou plugged in their order, knowing immediately what coffee they wanted the second he saw their bright smile enter the small café.
He shrugged, “Just about. I usually have at least one day off a week.”
“How long are your shifts?”
“Open to close; 7-8 on weekdays and 7-10 on weekends.”
Y/N’s eyes widened as they exclaimed, “That long? Do you get time to eat?”
“Of course. Usually around 2.”
“Do you have a break at 2 today?”
Shinsou hummed in confirmation.
“Okay, well I’ll be back then today with some lunch.”
“What?” He questioned, figuring he had heard them wrong. But Y/N had already left with their coffee, waving goodbye as the bell signaled their leave.
Just like they said, when 2 o’clock rolled around, Y/N walked in with two bento boxes in hand: One for Shinsou and one for themselves.
“Oh, Y/N you didn’t have to…”
“If you’re worried about eating my cooking, don’t worry! I picked these up on my way back from work!” A bashful smile and a blush followed their statement. Shinsou mirrored their actions.
“Thanks, I really appreciate it.”
Now lunch became a regular occurrence on the mornings that Y/N didn’t come in to get coffee. The two had grown quite close, learning that they both were the same age, and even were going to be attending the same university the coming fall. He found out that you owned a cat, even offering to bring her sometime, to which he replied that he didn’t think cats would like a café very much.
One particular afternoon, the both of you were laughing about some movie the both of you had watched during your childhood when Shinsou asked a question.
“Hey, what are you doing this Thursday?”
“Nothing, why?”
Shinsou awkwardly scratched the back of his neck as a blush made its way to his cheeks. “Well-uh-I was wondering if you’d want to go grab lunch? Like a real lunch at a restaurant.”
Y/N stared at the purple-haired boy for a brief moment before a grin lit up their face.
“You don’t have to work?”
“Nope,” Shinsou replied, making eye-contact for the first time since his invitation for lunch.
“Of course! I’d love to go!”
“It’s a date then.”

Heartbreak - Part 3
Prompt: Part 3 of “Heartbreak”... Pretty much just a confrontation from Mina and Bakugou after finding out that you’ve been dating Shinso. (Requested by @hains-j )
Rating: Fluff, Little Angst, and Scary Reader >:o
Word Count: 3,349
------------------------------------------------------------
Of course, after his confession, you and Shinso began dating immediately. You were scared to tell too many people, and your new boyfriend didn’t mind keeping your relationship on the down-low; you confided in Midoriya and Ochaco, but that was all. And it was already normal for you to cling yourself to Shinso while walking through the school hallways, or hang out in each other’s rooms… Neither of you were obsessed with PDA, so that was easy to avoid as well. You were only able to stay hidden under the radar for a week, however; then, the news spread like wildfire.
The one who realized the two of you had started dating was Kaminari, who easily noticed how Shinso tensed up whenever the electric blonde shamelessly shot pickup lines in your direction, or how your eyes always drifted to Shinso’s lips whenever he spoke. That’s what he had told you, anyways, but you had the sneaking suspicion that Midoriya had accidentally let something slip; although he was a great friend, he was absolutely terrible with keeping secrets. Not that you were too angry… You knew the truth would come out sooner or later, but a part of you wanted Shinso all to yourself. Now you’d have to share him with your curious friends. Not to mention a certain hot-head would be finding out, and his reaction to the news would be unpredictable even to you.
Mina had been avoiding you like the plague ever since you’d broken up with Bakugou, shrinking away whenever you rose your voice and avoiding your eyes. She still clung to Bakugou, much to his annoyance, and their friend group still accepted her. You had asked them to. While you were pissed with her, that didn’t mean that everyone else had to hate her too. That wouldn’t be fair. And even then, it wasn’t like you and her were best friends to begin with; the only reason you had begun talking to her was because of Bakugou, but since that had ended, you had no good reason to keep contact with her. Especially after what she had done.
You walked into class the next day, Shinso already on his way to his own room as you slid into your desk, not noticing the pointed looks from the classmates that had already gathered there. Ochaco was the first to approach you, face pale. “(Y/N), I’m so sorry, I swear I didn’t tell anyone!” She murmured, and you knew what she was talking about before she could explain. You sighed, glancing over the others in the room, before turning back to her with a smile. “It’s fine. Kaminari found out, so he’s probably the one who blabbed.”
Tsuyu was close behind your friend, and she sat on top of the desk beside yours. “So when did you and Shinso start dating, ribbit?”
“So it’s true?”
“Woah, (Y/N) is dating Shinso?”
“That’s so cute!”
“When can we meet him? I wanna talk to your new lover!”
The questions and comments quickly flooded in, and soon you were surrounded. “Only a week ago, it’s true, and soon. I wanted to keep it quiet for a bit longer, but…” You shot a playful glare to Kaminari, who grinned in reply. Your phone dinged, and you glanced down to it, smiling when you see who’s sent it.
“Oooo, is that him?” Jirou teased, and you lightly shoved her shoulder away as she leaned towards your phone to get a closer look. Before you could reply, the door swung open with a thundering bang, and everyone’s attention moved from you to it. Bakugou looked more pissed than usual, but avoided eye contact as he stomped into the room, dropping into his seat and glaring at the whiteboard. Ochaco leaned closer to you. “Jeez, who rubbed him the wrong way this morning?” She whispered, and you cracked a small smile.
“Alright, alright. Everyone get into your seats.” Aizawa slinked into the room, his yellow sleeping bag already wrapped around his frame. “(Y/N), congrats on moving forward with your life, so forth and so forth. Everyone come up and grab a worksheet, make sure to turn it in by the end of class. And yes, you can work with others on this.” Momo’s hand dropped back to her side, and before she could formulate another question, the tired teacher had zipped up his bag and was fast asleep on the floor. Ochaco smiled, pumping a fist in the air. “Nice! Midoriya, can you grab us the sheets from the front?” She smiled sweetly at the stuttering boy, and he turned even more red when she thanked him with a brush of her hand against his. Man, he’s hopeless you thought to yourself, shaking your head with a grin as you started on the worksheet.
You worked contently for a few minutes with Midoriya, Ochaco, Tenya, and a few other friends before someone to your right pointedly cleared their throat. Reluctantly, you shifted your attention, frowning when you made eye contact with a familiar pink-skinned girl. She tried smiling at you, but it looked more like a grimace. “Hey, can we talk outside real quick?” She whispered. It had been the first time she had reached out to you, and while a part of you wanted to throat punch her, a small voice in your head urged you to hear her out. You bit your lip.
“Sure, let’s go.” Quietly, you stood from your seat and shot your friends a tired smile before following Mina out of the room. She led you around the corner of the hallway, far enough from reaching ears, before taking a deep breath. “So, uh… How have you been?” She sounded stiff and awkward. You snorted.
“That’s what you wanted to ask me? Spit it out so I can go back to class.” The harsh tone felt strange on your tongue, but you used it nonetheless as you glared at the girl in front of you. Her eyes scrunched up, and she innocently scuffled her shoe on the floor, despite you and her both knowing that she was anything but.
“I… I just wanted to say that I’m sorry.”
“A little late for an apology, don’t you think?”
You weren’t making this easy for her, and you knew it. You enjoyed it. She looked like she was on the verge of crying, which only made you angrier. How dare she try to reach out for forgiveness now? You were stronger than that, not as soft as Ochaco, who forgave the girl easily out of pity. “I’m sorry! I wasn’t sure what to say, how to-”
“-explain to me that you’re a homewrecker? Hmm, I wonder? Maybe you should’ve written me a note? I like notes, those are nice… Dear (Y/N), sorry for sucking off your boyfriend! See you in class! XOXO!” You toss your hands up, staring at Mina in mock surprise. “But waiting over a month for you to grow the balls? Man, that was sure a surprise! Yay me!”
Mina’s eyes finally narrowed at you, patience wearing thin. “What’s wrong with you? I’m trying to apologize, and you’re not being very nice about it.”
You scoffed. “I’m acting as I should in front of the girl who, may I repeat, came onto a guy who was already in a relationship. One that you knew about very clearly, might I add.”
“It’s not like he was stopping me!”
You paused at that; she was right, it wasn’t just her fault. But you held them both at the same level of guilt, and her trying to pin the majority of it on your ex only made your blood boil more. “I know that. I’m not telling you that I blame you more than him, but that doesn’t justify your actions. Stop trying to play innocent when you were acting like such a… a…” You couldn’t bring yourself to say the word, yet Mina seemed to understand it even unspoken as her hands balled into fists.
“I liked him long before you did!” Her voice was bitter, and her shoulders sagged slightly as the truth began to flow from her lips. “I liked him within the first week of school, before you were even here! But no.” Her eyes became slitted. “You transferred here while we were all happy, and you ruined everything. All of a sudden, it was all about you, the new girl who had caught the infamous Bakugou Katsuki’s eye. You came waltzing into our lives and took the one thing I wanted the most in my life, other than to be a hero; you stole the boy I loved.”
“... That’s the reason you did it? Are you kidding me?”
Now you were really pissed, to the point that your quirk had begun to manifest around your body; black inky tendrils appearing from behind your back like hellish wings, dark smoke drifting from them and gathering by your feet. Mina glanced at them for a moment, unaffected, before pursuing the topic further. “Pretty much, yeah! I wanted him, and I took him from you. It worked, didn’t it?”
“From what it looks like, he treats you like a slice of moldy bread.” The comparison would’ve made you laugh in another situation, but not in that one. But it had been true; Bakugou had been unnaturally rude to Mina lately, icing her out of conversations and ignoring her advances towards him. The worst of it had been during training when, unknown to him, All Might had paired the two together, and Mina had left on a stretcher with multiple broken bones and bruises. Their fight had lasted only a few minutes, and the only reason she hadn’t been in worse shape was because Kiri had pulled Bakugou away from plummeting her further into the dirt.
“But at least I tried! You didn’t fight for him after what I did. You let him go! You didn’t really love him like I do!” Her voice was getting shrill.
One tendril shot out to Mina, wrapping itself around her throat and shoving her against the brick wall. Two more followed in suit, puncturing themselves on either side of her head. Bits of concrete fell on her shoulders, but you doubted that she notices as she clawed at the tentacle around her neck, eyes wide. It wasn’t tight enough to cut off her airways; just tight enough to cause a little panic. To show her you weren’t to be messed with, and that you were tired of the conversation. You leaned closer to her, adding a little more pressure to her throat as you smiled with false kindness. “Never question my feelings ever again. I did love him. That’s why it hurt when he cheated, why it hurt so much to let him go. But once a cheater, always a cheater; and I’m not easily tricked twice.” She was gasping slightly now, but a large part of you didn’t care. Instead, you had begun to like hearing her struggle. The smile turned darker. You knew you should’ve stopped a long time ago, since your quirk wasn’t just what it looked like. If you kept going, you would’ve most likely turned more bloodthirsty, and the thought made you-
“That’s enough.” The tendrils disappeared into thin air, and as they did so Mina inhaled loudly. You glanced towards your voice, wincing slightly as you met the red-eyed gaze of your teacher as he stalked down the hallway, hair rising as he pursed his lips. When he noticed the threat had subsided, he returned to his bored expression, yet anger still lingered. “Mina. Back to class, now.” She didn’t question him, and immediately high-tailed it back to her desk. When she had disappeared behind the corner, Aizawa looked back to you. The anger had simmered, but now there was something more that made your stomach churn; disappointment.
The teacher sighed. “I’m not going to ask for details, and I doubt Mina will push for them. But you’re going to have to face punishment for using your quirk on school grounds without permission.” He paused, gauging your reaction, and glanced at the two punctures on the brick wall before continuing. “One week of detention, and you’ve got to handle all of the chores within the dorm during that time as well.” You made sure to keep your lips sealed, knowing he could’ve given you a much worse punishment, and nodded. “Good. Head back to the classroom. I’ll be there in a minute.”
As soon as you had returned to the room, Ochaco had pounced on you like a cat on a mouse. Guilt was clear on her face, and her eyes darted from Mina to you. “I’m sorry, are you okay? I was worried when you didn’t come back after a few minutes, and sort of sent Aizawa-Sensei to find you.” She puffed out her cheeks, and you laughed.
“It’s fine; I’ve got some detention, and I’ve gotta handle the dorm’s messes for a week. So I guess we’ll have to raincheck on hanging out at that new cafe, huh?”
“Don’t even worry about that! I’m just glad it wasn’t worse!”
You felt a burning gaze on the back of your neck, but chose to ignore it. Mina could go kiss your ass, for all you cared. “Me too. Could you help me with the worksheet? I need to play catch-up now…” You sighed dramatically, and your close friend giggled as she led you back to your desk.
What you didn’t know at the time, however, was that it wasn’t Mina glaring at you, but the blonde boy who had somehow stolen her heart and broken his own.
------------------------------------------
“Thank god it’s finally lunch! I’m starving!” You moaned, and Shinso smiled at your theatrics. After the incident with Mina that morning, you were happy to finally get the day over with. Or at least the school part of it. “What sounds good right now? Chicken katsu or pork ramen?”
“Considering you’ve had ramen twice already this week…”
You playfully glared at your boyfriend, but couldn’t keep the grin from sliding onto your lips. “Third time’s a charm, right?” You said, and the low chuckle he emitted made your chest warm. He pressed a chaste kiss to your forehead; now that your relationship was out in the open, he had become more easy-going with touches and short pecks. “Grab us our usual seats, and I’ll bring food to you.” He said, and shoved you forward slightly to your friend’s table before heading to the growing lunch line.
You shook your head, your smile still framed on your lips as you sat beside Tsuyu at your usual table. Midoriya, Ochaco, and Tenya sat across from you, all of them bringing their own handmade bento boxes. You groaned. “Geez, your guys’ food makes me feel lazy for not making my own.” Tsuyu turned to you - she was munching on a yogurt - when her eyes skittered to something behind your head. You turned, and groaned again; but this time, it was in annoyance.
“Can we talk?” His voice was as gruff as usual, his hands tucked loosely in his pockets and a slouch tainting his frame. Bakugou’s attention drifted to your friends for a moment, before returning to you promptly.
“(Y/N)-” You raised a hand, stopping Tenya in his tracks before he could begin his monologue. “It’s fine, guys. I’ll be back in a quick minute, okay?” You stood up, mentally preparing yourself for the second unfortunate face-to-face talk you’d have that day, and took a deep breath. Both you and Bakugou stayed silent as you followed him from the cafeteria to outside. The sakura blossoms were just beginning to fully boom, some of them already drifting to the grass by the pull of the wind. The blonde halted his walking, staring at the trees for a moment before sliding his vermillion gaze to you. You hoped you wouldn’t need to use your quirk again. Two weeks of detention didn’t sound fun, and one week of chores was already enough for you to turn a new leaf to be a straight-A student. Your own teasing made the corner of your lip quirk up slightly.
“When did you start dating that purple-haired freak.” He muttered, hands still deep in his pockets. He was staring at you, unblinking, but his lips had drawn into a fine line and his brows were furrowed. You crossed your arms over your chest.
“His name is Shinsou.” You ignored his question and instead tilted your head. “What do you want, Bakugou? To try apologizing like Mina did? I wouldn’t bother.”
He growled. “Fuck no. I already tried that, and I know that shit doesn’t work with you.”
“... So then why am I out here?”
“I don’t…” He pushed a breath out from his nose, his face looking more frustrated. “I don’t like you with him.”
“Tough luck, buttercup.”
He glared at you, but smiled slightly. Not a smirk, but a rare smile. “I used to hate those stupid nicknames you made up.” He reminisced, glancing back to the blossoms. He bit his bottom lip, thinking, and turned back to you. “Are you always going to hate me?”
You tensed. You had expected some yelling or screaming, maybe him threatening to blow Shinsou up a few times, but you weren't prepared for vulnerable Bakugou. You let your shoulders relax slightly. “I don’t know. Probably not.” You mused, looking at the flowers as his head shot to you. You ignored his questioning gaze.
“Do I still have a chance, then?”
“No.”
From the corner of your eye, you could see his shoulders deflate a bit at that. “I really am sorry.” He murmured, and out of all his past apologies, this one sounded genuine. You looked at him, his eyes staring at the ground and a crestfallen expression glued to his face. A part of you pitied him.
“I know. But I still can’t forgive you. Not yet, at least, and not completely.” You were surprised at how calm you were being; after ignoring him for weeks, you were talking to him as if he were familiar. Maybe not as familiar as he was, but definitely not like a stranger. Was this growth? Maybe it wouldn’t be so hard to be nice.
“... If he ever hurts you, I’ll beat his ass into the ground, ya know.”
“I can do that myself if the time comes, thanks.”
He laughed, once, but it startled you. A sad smile was on his lips, and you realized you had never seen Bakugou so open before, dropping his tough-guy act entirely. Before he could open his mouth to speak, however, someone cleared their throat, and his expression went blank. For the second time that day you turned to the noise, but instead of seeing Aizawa, his student intern stood there. Shinso didn’t look upset, face devoid of any emotion as he raised one eyebrow in your direction. “Ready to eat? Food’s getting cold.”
You smiled warmly at him, stepping forward to entangle one of his hands in your own. He was tense, but at your touch he immediately relaxed. “Yup! Let’s go… I’ll see you later, Bakugou?” You left it up as a question, not wanting to push him as you extended an olive branch. Not forgiving, but learning to. The blonde nodded slowly, and you accepted the answer with a growing grin before pulling Shin back into the cafeteria building, leaving Bakugou alone to collect his thoughts.
“You okay?” Your boyfriend asked, squeezing you hand slightly to gain your attention. You slowed slightly, looking over at him, taking in all of his features carefully; from the wild mess of lavender hair, down to his eyes and to the small pout beginning to form on his lips. You stepped up onto your tip-toes, giving him a short but effective peck that melted away his pout almost immediately. “I’m okay. C’mon, I’m starving.”
And you were okay; you had a feeling that everything was going to start being better than okay.

A Foolish Love
Shinso Hitoshi x Reader
1.2 k Words
Trigger Warnings: n/a
-- -- -- -- -- -- -- --
“And you’re not lyin’ to me?”
In your hazy state and pale (e/c) eyes spoke proudly in an oddly monotone voice you spoke. “T-that’s right Hitoshi. I like you, you indigo haired idiot, y-you should believe me now. Ass.”
A groan fell from his lips as he snapped you out of his trance, falling out of this quirk induced trance you looked up at him with a scowl. “Why didn’t you believe me Toshi?! What is so hard to believe that someone would like an indigo haired, cynical, smart alec cutie.”
Shocked by the compliment laced with an insult Hitoshi scratched the back of his neck and looked back at you and sighed. “Well… when did this start. You liking me?
---Flashback to The Start of your Second Year--
The doors to UA were no different for when you first started there but it was exciting to know that those all-nighters with your senpai Bakugou paid off your first year allowing you to move forward to the second. Walking through the doors and to your class a buzz was floating around the campus about a popular 3-A student with indigo hair.
You being intrigued simply just with the mention of his hair color you wanted to take a sneak peak and see how illustrious this indigo haired person was. Scanning the hallways you aren’t able to see this indigo haired nobody (probably so) and shrugged your shoulders.
Rolling your eyes out of defeat you continue to walk down the halls and make it to your classroom door where you hear people talking. The voice started to grow louder as you continued to walk over to that noise and you finally saw him. Lean and tall indigo haired and eyed colored boy. God he was hot.
With your (e/c) you ogled his body, face and his demeanor as well. You lingering eyes were noticed by a blonde haired man with a black highlight he chuckled and whispered something into his ear. Catching these actions you walked over to him and stood in front of him, “What was that for huh?”
The yellow haired boy looked down at you and curled a brow. “Me? What did I do, did I do anything Toshi?” Was that his nickname...Toshi? Toshi looked at the yellow man and smirked, “No…you didn’t. But you did.” You blink harshly as he lowered his body to be at eye level with you, His indigo eyes were empty, looking back into them was like staring back into an irregular void. Your eyes scattered all over his face trying not to stare back into his impending and dominate glare.
However, you gave in and wanted to try and intimidate him and squinted your eyes tight and looked back at him. The indigo haired man that you know as ‘Toshi’ quirked a brow and leaned back and chuckled. “Well~ I guess they aren’t scared of me...that's different. Most underclassmen are scared of me becaus-”
“Because what, huh? You are as much of a dork as the first years are! And you thought I would have been intimidated by your purple hued eyes. HA!” You interrupted his thoughts with your statement and you swiftly turned on your heels to walk away. You hold your head high thinking that you have bested ‘Toshi’ but on his end of the spectrum he was slightly intrigued.
Shinsou was amused by your actions. Your feigned boldness, and the never ending stare that you returned to him made him ever so slightly curious, not enough to scope you out and watch what you do but...just enough to watch you with every chance he is given.
The first encounter you two had with each other wasn’t the last. You would run into Histoshi during lunch, at UA’s gym and goodness you would get to ogle his lean gymnast type body.  The way his body looked was so elegant and lean, each of his hands had a firm look with veins outlining the muscles in his hands as they slowly ran up his arms. Then even up his arms the toned matter of his muscles added onto his allure and valor as a 3-A student.
Unknowingly Shinsou was watching you, chuckling in the back of his mind that you just didn’t care or probably didn’t notice that he caught you staring. To continue to play into your ongoing stare he rolled his shoulders back to flex his back muscles. He peered at you from the corner of his eyes and smirked, you blinked out of your mindless stare and hurriedly left the gym as heat spread across your face.
As your face was burning with slight embarrassment, you had a sudden realization, the last time that you had spoke to Shinsou face to face was when you first arrived at UA. But now most of the times that you see him is normally in the gym, everyday at the same time Shinsou would be working on his agility and flexibility. You LIKED him… you were a class under him but every part of the day you truly couldn’t get him out of your head.
The next instant the got you wrapped in the mystery that was known as Hitoshi Shinou. You were finally able to figure out his whole name from hearing lightning strike make fun of him and said his whole name. Regardless, it was at the sports fest where you watched him go against one of the students named Shoji.
Seeing him fight against Shoji whom you also found...pretty attractive (don’t @ me shoji is a fine ass man). The way that he was able to dodge all of Shoji’s arms and extra appendages with ease was so mesmerizing, he looked so elegant and fierce at the same time. Regardless of how he looked, Shinsou wanted to make sure that he appealed to you too because he knew you were watching him with a close eye. And the sound of his voice OH, his voice was one of the many things you rarely get to hear but hearing him speak so grovely but firm made you shiver….it was scary how hot he sounded.
But you turned your head immediately as you watched his cold purple eyes slowly look up and you and smirk. Flushing you hurriedly get up out of your seat and scurried out of his sight and he laughed softly to himself.  But that solidified how you felt for him, and you needed to tell him as soon as possible.
That is why you are in the citation that you are in presently, frozen by his quirk he stood surprised. He didn’t want to believe that a foolish second year actually had fall for Aizawa’s mini-me.
Shinsou pinched the bridge between his eyes as he released his quirk on you and stepped back. “So the woman who as basically watching me closely really likes me...I can’t believe it… you truly truly do huh?
“ YES HITOSHI. For someone who is so hot is so freaking stupid, I told you after the festival, I told you when we went to the general school feastival. You never believed me and you had to use your quirk to fig-”
Holding the back of his neck he sighed with a weak smile, “Yea yea I get it but….w-would you like to go to a cat cafe if you want?”
A smile spread across your face as you nodded your head frantically.

✿ .✿ .✿ .✿ .✿
You settled yourself into the circle, the sides of your legs brushing against your neighboring companions due to the tight squeeze. You smiled softly as you looked around the room, basking in the sight of your friends all together for likely the last time.
The common room held all of 3A and 3B, the room filled with chatter and giggles, the euphoria of graduating tomorrow and becoming pro heroes filling everyone with a special kind of joy. Although the alcohol probably played its part in the noise as well.
Then Kaminari was lurching up to his feet, bottle in hand as he marched to the center of the circle. Off to the side Sero, Kirishima, and Tetsutetsu all bellowed out “SPEEEECH!!” The blonde put his hands up in a gesture for silence, the din of the room lowering to a quiet murmur.
“Thank you all for coming. Tonight, we are fellow classmates. Tomorrow? We are fellow PRO HEROES!” A cheer went up as Kaminari raised his bottle and took a drink, those with drinks in hands following suit. “Now I know we’re all having fun sitting here in a circle, but consider this: celebrating our last night as U.A. students with a fun little game of seven minutes in heaven.” Shouts of excitement, groans of protest, and hoots of laughter rose up at the suggestion. Regardless of those less eager, people started passing around slips of paper for everyone to write their names on.
You sighed in playful defeat as Kendo handed you a piece from your left and you passed the pile to Hagakure on your right. Just as you finished writing your name you felt both of the girls lean in towards you.
“Soooo y/n, who are you hoping to get?” Hagakure asked in a teasing tone as Kendo nudged you in the side.
You hummed in thought, looking around the circle. Kaminari came by with a bowl to accept everyone’s folded pieces of paper, winking at the three of you as you placed yours in.
“Could it be Kaminari?” Kendo asked with a playful gasp, making you snort. “C’mon, you have to tell us. You’re the only one of us girls who hasn’t tried to date one of these idiots.”
“There’s a reason for that,” you mutter. Taking a long sip of your drink, your eyes traveled around the room as you tried to delay answering. Figures the one guy here I like doesn’t seem interested in dating.
“I guess there is someone,” You said vaguely, watching as the game began and the first pair headed off towards the coat closet.
“Spill the tea!” Hagakure whined, clinging onto your arm.
“You first,” You counter, raising your brows.
“Okay so, like obviously Todoroki is the ultimate hottie here, Bakugo is attractive but I don’t think he’ll actually kiss who he has to go in with, Kaminari seems like he’d be fun to make out with…”
While you listened to your friend ramble on, you watched as Kirishima reached into the bowl for his turn, Kaminari clutching his stomach in laughter as he pulled Sero’s name.
“Kiss your homies!!” He called after them as they retreated into the closet. Your breath caught when you saw the next person up for picking a name. Your face warmed as you thought of him pulling out your paper, and even more when imagining him not pulling it.
“Oh shit, it is him?” Kendo asked suddenly, following your gaze. Oh hell, I guess it’s the last night anyway.
“Maaaybe,” You answered, hugging your arms around your legs. “Okay, yes it is,” You added when Kendo gave you a look. “He just hasn’t been interested in anyone who’s tried to get with him so,” You shrugged your shoulders in slight defeat.
Hagakure shook your arm. “Y/n you dummy!! You’re like the one closest to him!! I bet you a shot of tequila that he’s into you too.”
You waved her comment off. “There’s no way.”
Just then, Kirishima and Sero were released from the closet, both laughing at whatever had happened inside as they returned to the circle. Kaminari shoved the bowl at the next participant, who was none other than Shinsou Hitoshi. You watched with bated breath as he pulled a paper out of the bowl, unfolding and reading the name to the blonde game master. Kaminari and Shinsou both looked around the circle before their eyes fixed in your direction.
“Bitch no way,” Hagakure whispered.
“Y/n~” Kaminari called your name as he gestured for you to come over. Taking a last drink, you handed your cup to Kendo as you stood and crossed the circle. You locked eyes with Shinsou as you approached him, feeling the buzz of alcohol singing in your veins.
He stood and gestured towards the closet for you to lead the way. “Look like it’s you and me, y/n.”
You don’t know if it was the boldness of your heart or the song of the vodka, but as you passed him you gripped the hand that he held out in yours, tugging him along into the small space. Kaminari closed the door behind you with a snickered “Have fun!”
In the dim light of the closet you turned to face the purple haired boy, hastily releasing his hand in embarrassment. Desperately, you reached for any topic you could think of.
“Kinda crazy that we’re graduating tomorrow, right?’ You say, cringing internally. Stupid! Everyone’s been talking about graduation for weeks! C’mon, you never have a hard time talking to him like a normal person.
“Mhm, it is crazy. Feels like yesterday that I joined your class,” He says, and you think you can see a small smile on his lips.
“And I’m glad that you did join our class, Hitoshi,” you reply, fiddling your hands. The two of you stood in silence for a moment, looking at each other before you looked away.
He moved his foot forward to nudge yours, startling you slightly. “Y/n, are you okay?”
“Hm? Okay? Of course I’m okay, why wouldn’t I be okay?” You ramble. Realizing that you sounded quite the opposite, you sighed and dropped your hands, aiming for a more nonchalance approach. You’re being irrational, nothing is going to happen. “Why do you ask?”
Shinsou bumped his foot against yours again. He looked at you, concern in his eyes. “Well I know that this game comes with certain expectations, and we don’t have to do anything we don’t want to. We can just talk or whatever.” You could feel your heart fall at his statement. So he doesn’t want to do anything with me.
You tried to give him a reassuring smile. “Yeah, talking is cool I guess.”
“Yeah, cool,” He said, head nodding.
“Why haven’t you dated anyone?” You ask suddenly. Ah yes, very smooth.
He raised an eyebrow, giving you an incredulous look. “I could ask you the same question.”
“You could, but I asked first.”
“Very mature.”
“We’re still high schoolers, I can be as immature as I want.”
He relented with that. “I suppose that’s a fair point.” His hand came up to rub at the back of his neck. “I guess I just haven’t wanted to go out with any of the girls who’ve asked me. Your turn.”
You leaned your head back against the wall, looking up at the ceiling. “And I guess I just haven’t wanted to go out with any of the guys who’ve asked me out.”
“What about the guys who haven’t asked you out? Would you go out with one of them?” He asked, gaze intense.
You laughed nervously. “Well that’s quite a few people. But uh, maybe, I guess. Depends.” You look for anything else to talk about. “So uh, what else do people do during seven minutes in heaven?”
He snorted. “I don’t know. Hug? Kiss? Make out? Try to do a quickie in the closet?”
You let out a squeak at the last one. “Histoshi!”
“What? It’s true. I’m just glad we’re going earlier so we don’t have to deal with the mess of those people.”
You grimaced at the thought. “Well, I guess we could… Hug, then?” You say hesitantly. Shinsou stares at you through the darkness for a moment before he finds himself nodding along with the idea, silently opening his arms and pulling you in.
His arms settle around your shoulders, one hand in between your shoulder blades, the other just below it. Your arms find their way around his torso, hands resting in the middle of his back, head snug against his chest. You can feel his chin rest against the top of your head, and you sigh in the comforting warmth of his arms.
You don’t really know why you say it, but it’s almost like the joy of being held by him draws the words out of you. “I’m going to miss you, Hitoshi.” You say, voice muffled by the fabric of his shirt.
He snorts, arms tightening around you. “Hey, tomorrow is just graduation. Why are you talking like we’re never going to see each other again?”
“No I know, it’s just… We’ll never get to be like we are now, again. You know?” Your heart aches at the thought. Becoming a Pro Hero should be exciting, but instead all you can feel is the desire to stay right here and never leave.
He pulls away from you enough to meet your eyes. “That’s not true,” He says with conviction. “We don’t have to let leaving U.A. change us in any way that we don’t want it to.”
His words fill you with just enough certainty and courage, and before he can blink you’ve raised up on your toes and placed the tiniest peck on his cheek. You sink back onto the flats of your feet, biting your bottom lip. “You’re right, we get to choose,” You say quietly. One of his hands travels from your back to rest against the side of your face, his hand caressing your soft skin. A smile spreads across his lips.
“I’m glad that we feel the same way, Y/n.” With that he kisses your forehead, and continues pressing little kisses down the side of your face to your cheek. He presses another kiss to your nose, making you giggle.
“I like the idea of us,” You whisper, pressing a hand over his heart. Just as you start to lean up, anticipating pressing your lips against his, the sound of footsteps outside the door gives you barely any warning as Kaminari flings the door open, followed by Ochaco, Mina, and Deku.
“TIME’S U-” Kaminari cuts himself off as he sees you two quickly step apart. Both of your faces are slightly flushed, and while Shinsou keeps his face passive you can’t help the annoyance pulling at your features. “Whoops, looks like we interrupted something.” He giggles, nudging Mina.
Shinsou laces his fingers through yours and pulls you out of the tiny room, walking around the circle and towards the front door.
“Hey! Where are you going?” Ochaco calls after you.
“We have unfinished business,” Shinsou says, and you feel your heart flutter in happiness as he leads outside into the moonlight.

The 16th Year - Hitoshi Shinsou
Tumblr media
Summary: Your quirk was destined to awaken on your sixteenth birthday, and it would force you to take to sea-life with your birth parents. No one with your quirk had wanted to stay on land before, but none of them had been so in love at age 15…
Pairing: Histoshi Shinou x Fem!Reader
Rating: G
Word Count: 2.1k
Warnings: Light fluff, some angst, teenage heartbreak
Notes: Hello! This is the first thing I’ve written for the bnha fandom so I hope you enjoy it. I wrote this for the @bnhabookclub Mermay event! This is loosely based off of the old Disney Channel movie “The Thirteenth Year”. A throwback to fellow 90s babies. Special thanks to @hawksward for reading of this for me. <3
She had always accepted him and his dream. The first day they met, when he mentioned that he wanted to attend UA and be in the heroes course, she didn’t laugh. She didn’t sneer and tell him that his quirk was only suited for villainy. Instead of scoffing and looking down at him, she brightly smiled up at him. To her, his dream was perfectly reasonable. There was nothing wrong with wanting to be a hero, in fact in her opinion there was quite a romantic ideal to it.
Their chemistry was profound and none of their peers had anything that came close to their magnetism. She had told him that she was quirkless, when the truth was that her quirk was not bound to awaken until midnight of her sixteenth birthday. Currently she had two weeks to tell him the truth. It was a heavier weight than any young teenager should have to bear.
They were in the same class at UA, she had opted to follow him there as she knew her time with him was limited. They had known one another since they were eleven and even then she always knew that her clock was ticking down with each passing second. She dreamed of a way to be rid of her fate, to stay with him and see his ambitions come to fruition, but alas there was no cure for her. In fourteen days she would be a merperson and would have to swim into the arms of the others that were bound to the sea.
She was already exhibiting subtle signs of her quirk. It was little things that she kept under wraps, hoping no one would notice. And in truth, no one did except her adoptive parents...and her best friend.
Shinsou had not brought up her strange behavior. How she was incredibly thirsty all the time, how her skin suddenly seemed drier than usual, or how fast she had become in the water. Weekends spent at the community pool where the two of them liked to relax suddenly made him feel as though she were a fish out of water. He didn’t know how right he was.
“Are you going to tell me what’s going on with you?” He asked one night as they sat at their favorite sushi restaurant. Y/N sat stiffly in her seat, chopsticks in midair. How did she tell him? How could she knowingly break his heart like that?
She forced a smile but the sadness shone in her eyes. “There’s something I need to tell you.” She confessed, placing her utensils down. “I’m not quirkless.”
He cocked his head to the side curiously. She had never shown any signs of having a special ability, so the notion that she had been lying the past four (almost five) years seemed a bit ridiculous. Still, he decided to bite. “Alright, what is your quirk then?”
Y/N had never worried about Shinsou using his ability on her. He never had and he told her a long time ago that he never would. She trusted him with all of her heart so any time he asked her a question she simply answered. Other people that knew them thought this was wildly dangerous, especially as they got older. What if he took advantage of her? But Shinsou would never do such a thing. He wasn’t a villain, not in a million years.
“Remember how I told you I was adopted?” She probed, thinking perhaps it was best to start from the beginning. The purple haired boy simply nodded in response. “My parents, they live in the ocean with a colony of other aquatic people….they can’t live on land.”
A deep frown formed on his features. What did that have to do with her exactly? He wondered to himself. Obviously she could live on land. Still, he said nothing as he waited for her to continue.
“People with my quirk, don’t manifest it until their sixteen.” She continued. “They’re bodies undergo a transformation. Their legs fuse and turn into a tailfin. We become ningyo on our sixteenth birthdays.”
Hitoshi continued to stare unblinking. He could typically tell when she wasn’t being series and he waited for a tell to show him that she was totally joking. After a few minutes, when her sad expression did not change, he realized that she was telling the truth. His chest became uncomfortably tight, as if someone dropped a hundred pound weight onto it. The air left his lungs, his tired eyes widening in shock. She was going to leave him? The one person who seemed to support him most? The one person who always uplifted him and encouraged him and cheered for him...gone?
The hurt expression that crossed his usually stoic face broke her. She thought she had prepared herself for this, but in reality she hadn’t. The impending destruction of their relationship was all the more real now that he knew of it. She was certain that neither of them would ever fully recover from this.
“You’re leaving me?” He asked, his voice a whisper that didn’t dare to show any kind of true emotion. The apathy did not match with the words. The disconnect only told her that he was beyond angry with her for never telling him about this. Suddenly, the horrifying thought of having ruined their relationship before her birthday dawned on her and she nearly began to cry right on the spot.
“Not because I want to.” She spoke softly, hand darting out to grab his across the table. “Hitoshi, you know I would never leave you if I had a choice. I care about you more than I care about myself.”
The tears fell freely down her face as she was unable to hold them back. “I love you, you know? I don’t think you understand how much it hurts knowing that we can never actually be together. We’ll always be a world apart.”
He wanted to recoil from her touch, but the sight of her crying caused his anger to recede back into the back of his head. She had never admitted her feelings to him, and while he knew he had been wildly in love with her for years he also had never been able to bring himself to confess it. He was always worried that he would ruin what they had. Little did he know that it would ruin itself one day.
“You love me, Y/N?” He asked, his voice still quiet. This time there was emotion behind it. Raw, tentative emotion that was deeply afraid to be shown. Sometimes he hated his own vulnerability around her. How his walls came down any time you were around. No one knew him better than she did. No one brought comfort to his soul like she did. And now...now she’d be taken from him forever.
“With all of my heart,” she murmured to him, dabbing tears away with her napkin with her free hand. She hoped her makeup wasn’t completely ruined, however she knew deep down that it was. She felt his hand flip over in her gasp in order to hold her palm. She wrapped her fingers around him in return.
“Let’s get out of here.” He said before standing, helping her up with their connected grasp. He left money on the table for the bill and led her outside. There was still that same incredible weight on his chest, despite her confession. It only seemed to make him hurt at the loss of her even more.
She didn’t know where he was taking her until they ended up on the nearby waterfront. They walked onto a long pier and stared out at the ocean in heavy silence for a long time. The only thing they could hear were the laps of the waves against the wooden pillars of the dock.
“Well this isn’t how I expected to spend my Saturday night.” Shinsou finally murmured as he pulled her closer to him. He had wanted to kiss her for so long now, perhaps now the time was right. Perhaps he should also tell her his own feelings. His silence had unnerved her, though he obviously wasn’t repulsed by the thought of her caring about him in a way that exceeded friendship.
They were facing one another now, chests pressed against each other as Shinsou’s other hand slipped around her waist. He had never done anything like this before. They both felt incredibly awkward at the closeness, cheeks glowing pink with uncertainty. “Me either.” She mumbled back to him, voice quaking. This kind of embrace went far beyond a platonic hug.
“Y/N, can I kiss you?” He asked, his voice dropping low as his eyes were glued to her lips. Both of their hearts were hammering within their chests so loudly that it was deafening.
Her eyes blinked slowly as she lifted onto her toes to connect her lips with his softly in lieu of a verbal answer. The future hero was taken aback, so much so that he nearly stepped away from her. He hadn’t noticed her desperate grip on his shirt of the tightening of her hand around his. The simple need to be kissed by him too much for her to simply wait.
Slowly his eyes closed and he reciprocated, lips pressing against hers in a chaste kiss that was over way too soon. Neither one had ever kissed someone before. It was perfect in every conceivable way.
Before another word could be said, they kissed again and again until the moon shone high above the water. Only when their curfews edged closer did Shinsou decide to walk her home.
He kept her hand held securely within his own, never wanting to let it go. Finally they could express how they felt with one another. The years of tension were gone only to be replaced with longing for what could have been. The walk back was torture as they both knew the time to revel in their mutual feelings would only extend for the next two weeks.
The time spent until her sixteenth birthday, Shinsou and Y/N were inseparable. While before it was common to see them together, studying for school or just hanging out, now it was more steadfast for them to be attached at the hip. They were constantly touching each other in one way or another, her arm wrapped around his or their hands holding as they walked. His hand on her knee when they sat next to each other or even sometimes his arm around her shoulders when they watched a movie. It was small and innocent.
“Hitoshi.” She whispered to him sadly as they sat on the dock on the eve of her birthday. At midnight she would return to the sea from which she came as a newborn. “Do you promise to never forget about me?”
She knew her request was selfish, but the thought of being totally erased from his life had plagued her tremendously. They had grown infinitely closer over such a small amount of time. Shinsou was staring at their reflections in the water. The question seemed completely absurd to him, as how could he ever forget his first love?
“I could never forget you.” He said honestly, not noticing that she had slipped off her clothes. He was too lost in thought.
Thousands of scales covered her most intimate parts, obscuring them from view. Her legs were already beginning to ache as she sat down on the edge of the pier, toes touching the water. Shinsou seemed outwardly unfazed by her lack of dress. Really seeing her figure without obstruction for the first time made him wildly uncomfortable with arousal. Obviously it wasn’t the time nor the place for that, but it was still a teenage boy pumped full of hormones.
Y/N plucked a shining scale from the center of her chest and held it out to him, a sad smile on her delicate lips. “You have to promise.” She said in a voice so soft that he almost didn’t hear it.
He took the turquoise scale and held it tightly in his palm, never wanting to forget the feel of it. “I promise.” He said, sounding totally defeated. Would he ever see her again? She said she would come to this pier as often as she could at night to visit him, but he simply did not know if she would be able to keep her word. The insurmountable pain rendered him unable to even cry at his loss.
She slipped into the water as his watch beeped to signal the turning of the hour. She was totally obscured by the darkness. Two minutes later, a small head popped from the water and he noticed a swirling of scales scattered down her neck along with what looked like gill slits.
“I love you.” She said one last time, as if he’d instantly forget unless she reminded him. His heart trembled in his chest as tears finally did threaten to fall.
“I love you too.” He said resolutely, and then she was gone.

Tumblr media
Paring: Hitoshi x Reader
Genre: Angst

Plot: You only have 9 days to tell him how you feel....but maybe 9 days just isn't enough
"Please be ok please be ok!" that plea kept replaying in the mind of Histoshi Shinsou as he is sitting in the waiting room of the hospital.
He thinks about your soft touch, your sweet voice and your unforgettable laugh as tears stream down his eyes his voice breaking "please be ok....please..."
The entire room is quiet....tap tap tap tap is the only thing that can be heard and its coming from Shinsou as his left leg is violent shaking.
"Shinsou....?"
The entrance to the waiting room opens it's Kaminari and Mr. Aizawa, Denki rushes to Shinsou then begins to pat him down, patting his face and chest "YOU'RE OK RIGHT NOTHING IS BROKEN RIGHT!"
Shinsou brushes Kaminari off, " I'm fine it's not me you should me worried about....it's y/n she's the one in real pain".
Aizawa puts his hand ontop of Shinsou head rubbing his hair making it messy. "Yeah but that doesn't mean you aren't hurting to kid... it's ok to cry it won't make you any less of a hero.
Shinsou looks down " I just need to see her".
Kaminari sits next to Shinsou asking "How long have you been here, Hitoshi?
"About 5 an hours, after I ran Y/n to her parents and they called the ambulance, we came here and the doctor said that the parents can come with them but friends and other relatives were to stay here".
Suddenly Hitoshi sees your parents walking down are walking down the hall he jumps up quickly and makes his way towards them in a panic.
" Is y/n ok! What happened to her! C-can I see her please!" Hitoshi is frantically blurting out all of the questions that been on his mind of the pass 5 hours until your dad stops him.
"Woah woah calm down there Hitoshi, Y/n is fine she just need rest we actually came out here so we can take you home".
Shinsou tenses up shocked that after all that waiting he's just going home with seeing you.
He was not gonna let that happen.
" Home?...... HOME! THERE NO WAY IM GOING BACK HOME AND I DONT HAVE A CHANCE TO SEE IF Y/N IS DOING OK! I-....I have to see for myself.
Aizawa steps up, " Last time I checked Recovery girl was sent here to help Y/n with her injuries so she should be up"
Kaminari holds up his hand trying to put his two cents in " Plus he's been waiting 5 whole hours".
Your mom hangs her head "Yes that is true but....y/n is gonna need more than just kiss to feel better".
Your father begins to sweat as Shinsou glares him with anger in his eyes, everyone in the room begins the feel Shinsou's uneasiness.
"Let me ask you a question sir".
Your father gulps "Yes, Hitoshi?".
His pupils begin to dilate as Shinsou uses his quirk and asks the question " What's happening with your daughter".
Kaminari quickly grabs Shinsou pulling him back, " Dude! Are you crazy you can go around using your quirk on people!".
" IM NOT GONNA STAND HERE WHY THEY LEAVE ME IN THE DARK! I NEED ANSWERS!"
" Y/n's quirk....is hurting her shmmh-" before your dad can finish his sentence Aizawa stares at Shinsou erasing his quirk while simultaneously your mom covers your dad's mouth.
" Hitoshi! Control yourself Now"
Hitoshi shoves Kaminari back as her runs pass the three adults to y/n's room.
" Wait Toshi! You...don't even know where her room is...".
Aizawa sighs " Leave him Kaminari, right now I'm gonna need you to step outside" he angrily glares at your mother and father "I need to a meeting with some parents".
.
.
.
Meanwhile Hitoshi is running though the hallway is he searching for your room " Where is it..HA! Found it!.
Hitoshi kicks open your the hospital door.
" Y/N!" You jump and scream " AHHHH! What the HELL HITOSHI YOU CAN'T DO THAT WHAT IF YOU BROKE IT".
Right now all Shinsou wants to do is to hug you and hold you and never let you go but...
He just stands there and yells.
"You're such a God Damn lair!"
"...who told you-".
" APPARENTLY NOT YOU! WHEN THE HELL DID YOU GET S QUIRK FROM! HOW LONG HAS IT BEEN HURTING YOU?!"
You sit up and take a beep breath, "My quirk developed last week I didn't know how I was gonna tell you".
" LAST WEEK!? THEN THAT MEANS.....t-that means..."
-Hitoshi thinks back to last week after school when he was training with Aizawa-
" Hey Mr. Aizawa Hey hey" you eagerly jump around the tired teacher circling him. " What is it now kid?"
" Can you use your quirk on me?"
Shinsou spits out his water " ppppfffft why would he do that it literally won't do anything".
You turn to Shinsou pouting " yeahh but sero says when that when you get you quirk erase it's like your soul leaves you body".
Shinsou squints his eyes at you " I think Sero was high when he told you that".
Aizawa rubs his eyes and grunts.
"Ugh! Fine come here kid but after this I don't wanna hear anything come out of you mouth until we are done training".
You nod while standing still as Mr. Aizawa uses his quirk on you but no it looks like nothing happened.
Hitoshi chuckles " See told you it would work" he looks at you and see the look of utter disappointment and defeat. " What's with the face cat?"
" I was just really hoping that something....anything would happen but...oh well".
You smack you face as you give Shinsou a big thumbs up " You gotta ge back to training-mmmpfh-!"
Aizawa wraps you up his his cloth like a mummy and gives you to Present Mic
"Here Hizashi here hold the kid"
" YOU GOT IT SHO!"
Shinsou could help but laugh at the whole situation while you freak out the Mic's arms.
-He then thinks about how you acting at lunch during that same day-
" Hey Y/n you not gonna eat?" Kaminari askes while shoving fish sticks in his mouth.
"Oh umm I'm not really hungry"
"You aren't? But I haven't seen you eat anything all day are you sure?"
"Yeah Hitoshi I'm ok".
Bakugo the reaches across the table to get in your face " HUHHH THE LITTLE KITTY DOSEN'T WANNA EATTTT? I BET IF CAT BOY OVER HERE FED YOU, YOU WOULD EAT IT ALL UP!"
You and Bakugo clash foreheads.
" SHUT UP YOU FERAL POMERANIAN"
"GRRRR....THE FUCK YOU JUST CALL ME YOU QUIRKLESS LOSER!".
Kirishima walks to the table smiling simultaneously as he sits down saying "Man it looks like it's raining cats and dogs over here".
" SHUT YOUR TRAP YOU POINTY TEETH DIMWIT!" You Bakugo scream at Kirishima at the same time then go back to arguing with each other " STOP COPYING ME!".
Shinsou watches as you don't eat anything but shrugs it off as you going on a diet.
Hitoshi falls to his knees shaking, his voice breaking.
" THAT FUCKING QUESTION WASN'T JUST A HYPOTHETICAL WAS IT!"
You get off your bed as you sit in front of him, "No it wasn't ".
"I so fucking stupid Y/n..."
You slow reach your hand to grab Hitoshi "No...don't say that..."
"But it's true! Can't you see!
Shinsou raises his head looking at you his eyes bloodshot red, see him like that startled you , so you back up but then hes says something that made you hate yourself.
"....How can I ever be a hero if I can't even save one person...I'm so weak"
Tears begin to fall down your eyes seeing your best crumble apart by your actions, you jump into Shinsou's arms crying repeatedly saying " I'm sorry I'm sorry I'm sorry".
You feel bad for Shinsou as he may have come across one of the most hardiest trail of being a hero.
How can a hero save someone that doesn't wanna be saved....
You and Hitoshi press forehead's and stare at one other but then...you look at Hitoshi but his face begin so switch between blurry and not until everything is completely blurry in your left eye.
"S-shinsou..."
He sniffs and rubs his nose, " Yeah y/n".
"I....I can't see"....
♡♡♡♡♡♡♡💔💔
Y/n has lost her 2nd life as another day draws near. Jow can Shinsou save the unsaveable? Will y/n ever confess in time and end her suffering.....will y/n's eye sight be the only thing she loses?.... 9 days won't be enough
