Thinking about "your weakness is how you always want to be the hero" and how the series returns to this at the end
Li Lianhua hated how he acted as Li Xiangyi and spent years trying to distance himself from it, but ultimately he still fell back into the similar patterns, for all his added experience
His main priority was always to "do the right thing" regardless of how that would impact on those around him. And it *did* impact those around him. From Qiao Wanmian and Shan Gudao as Li Xiangyi to Fang Duobing and Di Feisheng as Li Lianhua
Giving the Styx flower to the emperor so he could use it as leverage to guarantee Fang Duobing and his family's safety. Using the last of his power to save Yun Biqiu. Constantly putting others above himself whilst actively refusing to recognise that his self-sacrificial nature would hurt those he cared about most
And sure, he thinks he's going to die anyway. They're going to be hurt regardless and he can't do anything about that. His odds are low of the Styx flower even working. But ultimately, he refuses to even consider trying. Li Xiangyi has been dead a long time and Li Lianhua is just there to tide things over. What value is the life of a ghost
To the end, he lives and dies a hero. To the end, he refuses to live for himself.
#sth about how he almost managed to live for himself but his past and need to do right doomed him.#those missing years before canon starts were probably the closest he got but even then the knowledge he couldn't use martial arts#must have killed him (no pun intended). because he'd put so much stock in his identity as sigu sect leader + hero + prodigy#so to have such a massive part of his identity stripped from him... honestly it doesn't seem that he ever fully comes to terms with it#but he makes progress and he tries to do better. + that leads to him becoming a different type of 'hero' than the symbol he was originally#deep down he wants to help people with all he has but his capacity isn't infinite + at some point can only be taken from himself#mysterious lotus casebook#mlc spoilers#also to be clear I mention shan gudao not to say lxy should have realised earlier bc for a lot of the time he was too young to notice#and later on sgd did better at hiding his intentions. but more for how lxy tunnel visioned towards his idea of righteousness#and steamrolled over everyone else. both sgd and qwm were placed far below the importance of the sigu sect#and lxy's arrogance made it such that sigu became reliant on him alone as he shut others out (hence domino fall once he went).#idk if he could ever have 'fixed' what was btwn him and sgd bc it was so deep rooted but I do think that his actions#helped convince sgd that sgd was entirely in the right to choose his path#mlc#edit: just went and checked the exact wording of the TL and it's actually 'you like being a hero' rather than 'you want to be the hero'#which is different but still close enough in implications for my point to stand (I think)

What's the best course of action? Is*ael decided it should blow up the whole school#ney the whole neighborhood#to eliminate the gunman. And the world is cool with it. because every possible breathing creature in the school might be the gunman.#MAKE IT MAKE SENSE!!!????? How in the world can such a decision be supported and justified!!?????#I'm disgusted by the world#The poor children.#The poor hostages too. They will die in the airstrikes. Is*ael keeps chanting about wanting them home but are actively harming them.

the thing about bakoda. is that even if they didn't get rid of bato (the fact that they DID is proof of what i'm about to say) they would not have made it gay because that episode/tension that would ensue is actually too good. like it's Too thematic. these new showrunners would not... they would not be able to juggle katara's "why are you trying to replace My Mom bato?!" and sokka's "so what does that mean for my concept of masculinity then?!" in a way that brings the story to a new place while honoring the original. it would be awesome if they could. but. alas.

Hi I'm mad
#this is the only place I can vent about My Hero stuff#I'm so pissed that Toga is dead it's so fucked up#like everything about it is so fucked up#it started with Jin being killed#all he wanted to do was protect his friends#but Hawks mercilessly killed him while he begged for his life#and then in the big battle Toga didn't get to kill Hawks and avenge her friend#and that scum gets to live and continue being a hero#and then Toga dies too while characters with significantly worse injuries somehow survive#like are you shitting me she dies when DABI survived???#dude is a charcoal skeleton there's no fucking way he should be alive#and Uraraka went through this whole deal of questioning heroes' actions because of what Toga said to her#Toga and Uraraka finally reaching an understanding and bonding just for Toga to die is such garbage#Toga wanted to be accepted and she found it in the League#then had to watch her friends all die when all most of them wanted was just a better society#but she could have stayed with Uraraka#it would have been so much more meaningful if Toga had lived and inspired Uraraka to go into like social work#helping people who were outcasts because of their quirks#working with Toga who also knew about Spinner and Jin and Shigaraki's experiences#it's just disgusting and shows that the author doesn't understand his own world#it honestly also gives off homophobia#like he had these little glimmers of queer rep with Magne and Toga#but Magne was brutally killed#Toga died after the briefest gay moment with her and Uraraka#plus we know Jin was an ally because he threatened to kill another villain for misgendering Magne but Jin died too#honestly the only highlights of this ending for me are that Nagant and Gentle/La Brava got to live and be free#I've read this far but I honestly don't know if I care enough to finish now that Toga is seemingly confirmed dead#this is why I don't pick up shonen manga or anime anymore#toga himiko#ochako uraraka

I think The Riddler is a bad choice for a starting Batman villain if you want to show off Bruce being A Detective because The Riddler’s whole thing is literally leaving clues specifically for people to find and solve.
Like, idk, to me, it’s not super indicative of how great a detective someone is if they’re finding the clues left by Mr. Leaves-Clues-A-Lot.

please for the love of god tell me im not the only one who doesnt want keanu reeves shadow everywhere i go people are saying it but i dont get it at all and it feels like people are just saying it because hes played "edgy" characters or whatever and they think that that alone means he would be good for shadow
#or theyre just saying it because of the jokes about sonic liking keanu reeves#i dont really like the idea of a main characters voice actor being a certain person just for the sake of continuing a joke. tbh.#also it kinda bugs me that like 95 percent of the suggestions for who should play animated characters in the sonic movies#arent voice actors but like . celebrities who mostly or exclusively do live action stuff#like im fine with people with less voice acting experience being cast as long as they care about getting the character right#and are a good fit for the role etc etc#i dont think blocking off voice acting roles to anyone who doesnt have a certain amount of experience is the solution#because everyone has to start somewhere and sometimes a mostly live action actor really IS a good fit for a voice acting role#but i would greatly prefer actual voice actors be given these roles. tbh.#i really do not like the trend in animated movies or live action movies with animated characters#of the entire cast being made up of random celebrities just being handed voice acting roles that they dont really fit#just so there can be big names attached to the project. like the mario movie for example#like if it does end up being keanu i will accept it i will give him a chance. but idk if i will like it.

Update regarding last night's post: My brother (age 13, definitely has heard worse when he went to public school) has now been banned from watching Spy X Family because of the "language".
If you want evidence that my mom is an absolute whackjob, she willingly let him watch Deadpool and Venom when he was in elementary school.

Today is the day of Be My Favorite EP.2 and also June 🌈
so it's a perfect time to remind everyone that Krist Perawat is back to playing in BL (with adorable Gawin who's getting his main lead role and the whole introvert world shaken) — and he's been consistently supporting LGBTQA+ community and rooting for the queer rights for years *-*
And even recently Krist openly supported the Move Forward party on political voting in Thailand in 2023, which is a progressive liberal party who works for the good and useful changes, equal rights in the country and especially prioritizes the same-sex marriage bill. Their color is orange, and that's why Krist posted about voting with the orange heart 🧡

WORSE. they keep their intro with ace lighting the cigarette#but instead of at a distance he comes up and lights it with his finger getting in sanjis space#short shot of sanjis face snapping up to his in shock#cut to ace clicking his tongue and winking. finger guns#walks away. end of moment its barely there#BAUYGGHRRGHHH DOUBLE LOSE SITUATION... every moment is immediately followed by a shot of zoro staring silently#or fucking. rolling his eyes#making it clear that one theyre baiting us with both ships while neither will happen.

#vocaloid#pinochiop#i saw this video link wasn't posted anywhere on tumblr and thought i should share#(i will be gendering protagonist as 'she' and writer as 'he' for simplicity)#anyway to me in my interpretation the song is written about specific person's reaction to mental illness/neurodivergence.#the fact that mushrooms are growing on heads is a reference to mushrooms only growing in darkness and-#-and is a common anime trope to imply that a character is depressed or a shut in (shimeji situation did this) (also a panel in ohshs)#there is this familiarity between the singer and who she is singing to (presumably the writer) like these are the words of a past lover..#making it feel like the pinop almost HATES the protagonist of this song. that he was called the one with the 'mushroom mother'#but it almost feels like that protagonist does become obsessed a little with the idea of not catching a mental illness from pinop#but then in their obsession of 'not catching it' they start exhibiting like a hypochondriac ocd but for mentalillnesses#the 'your mother is a mushroom mother' to me is a teasing (almost child like) jeer almost felt aimed at pinop/writer.#to imply that.. because his mother gave birth to him she's a mushroom mother. because he is a mushroom (like a yo mama joke)#in my mind the writer is insulting himself here. that the chorus is insulting him in that teasey child's tone#anyway later in the song the protagonist gets more paranoid about others spreading their emotional toxicity to her.#and in her sanitation attempt she winds up hurting other people (implied i think. because of the violence of setting mushrooms on fire)#eventually though I think she stops seeing mental illnesses as a flaw and instead of 100% hating she jumps to 100% loving them#tbh this interpretation is the shakiest part (because why would she put on a mushroom on her head in the end) (what does it mean??)#I think it means that she's embraced being allowed to be publicly mentally ill. and she takes that 'being allowed' as permission to be crue#the protagonist was cruel and toxic even before this transformation#then the writer.. in some perspective thinks about how in retrospect her actions were hollow#the writer surmises that living in that cycle would feel emotionally unfulfilling .. empty.#the writer here is coping with what was done to them in the past.. the person that hurt them enough to write this song#then now that she has those mushrooms growing on her head/is depressed and so the chorus of mushroom mother returns to poke fun at her#and in the end i think the writer joins in in that gloating chorus#The writer feels mixed on celebrating an 'ex' being confirmed as something he was for having#but there is also the celebration of being petty. and the franticness those sort of mixed emotions would give u..#and in the end the writer thinks that in the future that the world will keep changing on it's view on the mentally ill#but because those ending lines are repeated twice i think he's implying that there is a cycle to it#that there is a resignation to the world moving and changing into something else but not getting totally better

canon divergent AU where OG! Bianca and Ailette's deathdates were later, so Cardinal Cartelyena only visits the Gilette Mansion and brings Ailette to the Vatican some time after the Day of Sacrifice, after the mess caused by the Toy Mansion is settled.
There's two ways this AU can go:
1. Ailette meets a heavily traumatised Tesilid who watched his roommate kill everyone else and then himself.
2. Ailette doesn't cross paths with Tesilid. When the 17th starts, they do not have the pre-established trust that they have in canon. Ailette is playing on ultra-hard mode, as if being in an SS-class world wasn't already hard enough. Tesilid also has no reason to pretend to be nicer than he actually feels like being, so their dynamic is also very different.

i just keep watching live action adaptations of novels and stuff and thinking This would be so much better if it was animated
#i think heartstopper would have been cooler as an animated series with more or less the comic artstyle#i also had this feeling while watching two episodes of the pjo series#but disclaimer ive never read a single pjo book in my life i started watching that show out of pure curiosity#but!! you know! the whole concept of it! feels like it would be more interestingly explored in an animated show#a less serious example is fallen by lauren kate i don't think it should be a live action movie at all#its potential would be more well explored in an edgy and very dated anime. 2008 aesthetic angels and everything#anyway

im so sad didn't get the experience of being a xmen fan in the 70 up to the 2000's, it was the golden era, the moment to be a fan
the latest xmen movies are just not good ... ( days of future past is okay but dark phoenix is a huge no ) and there is no very active fandom like for others marvel superheroes
