Shirley’s involvement in the recap movies & Re;surrection
I mentioned this in the Re;surrection summary post, but IMO it deserves its own post since I’m sure some people have not yet seen the recap movies.
The Re;surrection pamphlet also explains Shirley’s role, which can be tied to her new scenes in the recap movies. If you haven’t seen the recap movies, this is a good moment to catch up on what exactly Shirley’s role in them was. Again, spoilers after the read more.
Shirley in the recaps
So, first off, there is no Mao in the recaps, Shirley’s dad doesn’t die in Narita, and Shirley herself also doesn’t die. Rolo doesn’t kill her. According to Taniguchi, Shirley and Lelouch are “dating” in the first recap movie, but it’s awkward because it surfaces as Shirley appearing at random places going, “Where did Lelouch go?” Anyway, the sub-plot with Shirley and her importance to the plot of Re;surrection starts in movie 2.
Tumblr media
In recap movie 2, after Orange un-Geasses an area, he approaches Shirley and talks to her as he remembers her from files about Lelouch. He warns her not to let on that she knows more she should now that her memories are back.
Tumblr media
In recap movie 3, after the Ragnarok Connection part but before Lelouch and Suzaku announce themselves as Emperor and Knight of 0, Shirley receives a mystery phone call.
The person on the other line doesn’t say anything to her. She assumes the caller is Lelouch, who hasn’t been at school lately, and asks him questions such as if he knows Jeremiah (implying that Shirley and Jeremiah have been in contact outside the scene from recap movie 2, as Jeremiah didn’t tell Shirley his name during that scene). The person on the other end never replies to her. Still assuming it’s Lelouch, she says she has feelings for him (好き), she’s got his back, and if he’s trying to do something, then she wants to help him. After, the caller hangs up.
Tumblr media
Later, when Emperor Lelouch joins the UFN, we see that CC has gone off on her own and meets Shirley in front of some kind of bamboo forest.
Tumblr media
Then, Shirley and her parents (remember, her dad didn’t die in the recaps) appear in Tokyo when Lelouch is killed by Suzaku.
Tumblr media
Next, before the credits, Shirley takes over the ending narration half-way from Kallen and the narration is a bit different than the TV show. She says there are still problems in the world, but people are working to fix them - if only Lelouch could see it for himself (completely different from the TV version). She asks him if everything went according to his calculations... or did it? (Also different from the TV version.)
Tumblr media
Finally, the ending scene of the 3rd recap is completely different. There is no cart driver scene. Instead, CC receives a letter from Jeremiah and Shirley inviting her to a tree planting at Jeremiah’s Justice Gentleman Orange Farm in France.
The Re;surrection Pamphlet on Shirley
Tumblr media
Shirley and Schneizel (this is not a typo, what the fuck Okouchi) brought Lelouch’s corpse to Jeremiah and Anya’s orange farm in France. Because Shirley is just a normal college student in the Principality of Britannia, she was out of the public eye. And even though CC went to wander the world after ZR, they still had a way to keep in contact with her.
Showerthoughts
In the recap movies, both Jeremiah and CC’s thoughts on Zero Requiem seem to be different than in the TV anime. For example, Jeremiah’s mental note to Suzaku (”go forth, masked knight”) has been removed during the scene where Suzaku appears as Zero in Tokyo, and CC has a new line where she asks, “Aren’t we done here?” basically questioning why they even need to do something about Schneizel and the Sword of Damocles.
SoooooOOOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooo, we’re meant to assume that the person who called Shirley was actually Jeremiah or CC, and hearing her thoughts about Lelouch, they knew they could trust her, so CC appears in front of her in Tokyo to plan this shindig.
Could the caller have been Lelouch? Sure, it’s possible. But Shirley being coy in the narration and saying “Hey Lelouch, I wish you could see it for yourself ;)” and also “Hey Lelouch, did it go according to your plans? Or not? ;))))” plus CC saying “Lelouch intended to die” in the latest trailer point to this not being planned by Lelouch.
Schneizel’s involvement in this is extremely confusing, as you’d think Shirley traveling around w/the newly appointed 2nd in command of the UFN immediately blows her cover of “completely normal Britannian school girl”. He also somehow keeps this a secret from Suzaku...?
The pamphlet doesn’t explain the finer details, like how Shirley got his corpse in the first place, or what magic CC had to use to revive him. They showed Shirley in position in Tokyo - did she somehow grab his body during the commotion after? Awkward. That said, I’m also going to assume that Lelouch didn’t magically automatically resurrect without his soul on the spot in Tokyo (some people seem to believe this because of the old Code Theory from 4chan)... or else, well, everyone would’ve known immediately lol.

Spent a little while watching videos that were less than pleasant last night. I do it once in awhile, seeing as public media is really strict about the display of injuries & violence, and otherwise it is difficult to portray fictional scenarios properly without a real-world context to compare them with. I also feel like I have this need to see the world both in its greatest and worst capacities from a philosophical perspective. Seeing all the terrible things that happen to people, and that people do to each other makes you care a lot more about things that matter, and concern yourself a lot less with petty crap. Interestingly enough though, my first few experiences were to the contrary of that premise. It's very easy to feel cynical and jaded about things that happen unexpectedly, and to people who don't even deserve it. But therein lay reasons to be a better person. Easier said than done, but nonetheless relevant. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . #art #drawing #squirrel #lookingatyou #holdingbaby #anthroart #anthroartist #showerthoughts #thinkingoutloud #cradling #squirrelsarethebest

TIL that not wanting to hear screaming babies at the movie theater is misogyny, adultism and ableism. Loving how they put the focus on those words, gotta reach the buzzword quota !
Also this person apparently has kids.
HATING BABIES IS MISOGYNY OH LORD SAVE ME AND I WAS ACTUALLY GOING TO MAKE A NEW LINE AT THAT POINT BUT THEN I NOTICED THE WORD ADULTIST AND LOST IT AGAIN LMAO
TBH I just think parents should be responsible about bringing their child to the movies. Do they know their child is unable to remain quiet in public when being quiet is necessary? If so, don’t bring them. Otherwise, bring them. It’s not that difficult. You don’t need an analysis of class privilege and “age privilege” to come to that conclusion lol.
This is extra funny though because I’m pretty sure just-shower-thoughts is a bot that posts the top shower thoughts from r/showerthoughts.

Bitcoin Cash Fund to Help Promote Future r/MillionaireMakers Drawings
Back in early 2015 a Reddit forum was created called r/millionairemakers which is a subreddit that tries to create a millionaire by getting one million Reddit users to donate $1 each and the forum subscribers give the money to a random person in hopes they can create a millionaire. Now the lottery-style forum is allowing bitcoin cash (BCH) donations with Tippr and Chaintip. The forum administrators are also partnering up with the Bitcoin Cash Fund, and the non-profit plans to donate $200 in BCH towards the pot of each draw.

r/MillionaireMakers Partners With the Bitcoin Cash Fund
Just about three years ago some Reddit users on the forum r/showerthoughts proposed a theory: “If a million of us picked a certain Redditor and all donated just $1, we would have the power to make someone a millionaire.” Since that observation was stated back in 2015, a new subreddit was born called r/millionairemakers. Now all the attempts have so far been unsuccessful as far as making a millionaire is concerned, but the forum had made mainstream headlines in publications like Business Insider, and some people have made a few thousand dollars. At one time a few selected winners have won around $12,000 USD and the site grew to gather over 100,000 subscribers.
Just a few days ago the subreddit declared that it would be using BCH tips that stem from tipping platforms like Chaintip and Tippr. Further on the social media platform Yours.org the community driven non-profit the Bitcoin Cash Fund (BCF) announced a strategic partnership with r/millionairemakers and BCF plans to donate $200 worth of bitcoin cash towards the pot of each draw.
“The Bitcoin Cash Fund will help promote future drawings, offer programming support, and add $200 in BCH to the pot of each draw to rapidly get this great sub up and running again,” explains BCF’s Yours announcement.
We hope this partnership will allow r/millionairemakers finally make someone a millionaire and drive the adoption and use of cryptocurrencies, especially Bitcoin Cash — Let’s all participate in the draws in the coming months.
Spreading Bitcoin Cash Awareness
The r/millionairemakers subreddit administrators say that the partnership enables the forum to grow beyond its 100K subscribers. Moreover, the admins explain that they also get to work with talented developers and individuals that can help make the subreddit processes more automated. “This collaboration is directly for the benefit of the winners, this subreddit and to spread awareness of Bitcoin Cash,” emphasizes the Reddit user and r/millionairemakers moderator u/lilfruini.
“As always, the type of donations sent are all determined by the donors. Of course, people are welcome to use tipping bots listed and any others that I have not been made aware of, but other cryptocurrency addresses for donors will continue to be present (at the choice of the winner), such as Bitcoin, Dogecoin, and Litecoin, among more,” u/lilfruini writes. “Additionally, cash transfers will continue to be in use, including Google Wallet, PayPal, and now, Square Cash — The winner is welcome to exclude certain forms of payment themselves in what they accept, should they be chosen.”
What do you think about the partnership between r/millionairemakers and the Bitcoin Cash Fund? Let us know what you think about this subject in the comment section below.
