Annnnnnd...Wo-Chien is now being bombarbed by puppies, as they drown him in puppy kisses.
W: (as he tries to hold back his giggles) "Oh no~! Shrine invasion~! Whatever shall I do~?"
The snail, as the puppies of Paldea play and climb all over him, eventually finds himself unable to hold back his laughter.
W: "Heh heh heh heh~! That tickles~! Hmhmhmhmhm~!"

Puppies! And Eevee! The best tiny shrine invaders!

"Evidence that Pokémon once familiar to us have been spotted in the various dimensions linked together by Ultra Space, in the same way that Ultra Beasts have been spotted in our own dimension. Upon falling through an Ultra Wormhole, these Pokemon become bathed in a strange energy that seems to facilitate rapid changes and adaptations needed to survive in their new environments, among other speculated effects. We have dubbed them "dimensional forms," though internally we use the code name "ultra variant," or "UV" for short."
-Aether Report excerpt
It seems that when exposed to the bizarre lands of Ultra Space, Eevee's evolutions take on new forms. I wonder what other strange forms we have yet to see! More info coming soon!
*More detailed lore later, but as a brief explanation on each one's inspirations:
-Vaporeon: polluted water, plastic debris and its impact on animals, mutations, oil and water don't mix
-Jolteon: overcharged long boi, they run through the skies and leave lightning trails behind them
-Flareon: explosive smoke cloud and shrapnel
-Umbreon: black holes and new moons because of Ultra Megalopolis's darkness theme
-Espeon: wise and (slightly) wrinkly sphynx cat with a 3rd eye
-Leafeon: bulky and ferocious tiger, stripes inspired by beta Leafeon
-Glaceon: bleached coral and asymmetry
-Sylveon: shinto shrine maidens and shide (zigzag paper streamers)

Forget fictional characters - share some hamster deep lore with the class!
which one?? There were 19! (and I will say to anyone concerned, only 2 of the hamsters died unnatural deaths, neither at the hands of any humans) Do I tell you about Eevee II's secret hideaway inside a carebear? Do you want the highlight reel of Smokey's fight against the cat? Gidgiddonihah's hide-and-seek prowess? Isaac's tragically good timing of his own death? Why we had to ban the game 'hamster on the loose'? Do you want their Genealogies? the great Art they inspired (aka, my dad made up stories about "detective Hamster" every sunday starting in july of 2000, several years before Geronimo stilton, the copy-creature....) hmm. I shall tell you about. The Stove. the Hamsters, as a general Rule, lived in their large cages under The Farm Table in the kitchen, the table where we put groceries, canisters, odds and ends, etc. occasionally the cages were moved to my bedroom, or later to the basement (for cool darkness!) but most of the time it was kitchen. and the hamsters liked to Escape. This was, you know, a Problem, especially when doors get left open. there was a sort of design flaw in the first set of cages we had, where the hamsters figured out out to get the lids to pop off, then shove bedding under their wheels and climb up them like ladders. we figure Isaac taught Eevee to do it, since he was the most frequent Escapee. invariably, we'd come to breakfast in the morning, check on the critters to give a yogurt drop, and notice on or the other was Out. they never escaped together, these two hated each other and had separate cages. but we'd always find them in the same place, under the kitchen stove, a huge white double oven monstrosity with a very rusty drawer that we got very good at pulling out to access the dusty space underneath. we'd see the little hamster pawprints. luckily, it was a storage drawer and not a broiler drawer-- but they never got into the drawer anyways. just the space between it and the floor. Not a very big space! after those two died, we got two more hamsters, figured they'd have their own Place to run. behind the fridge, maybe, or try climbing the carpeted stairs? no. the stove Drew them. we never had mice back there. but it was like some holy shrine for the hamsters. It would get to the point where my brother or I would shout a house warning "[hamster's] missing?" and get the callback " check the stove." which was. uh. certainly a Thing for my friends to hear when they were visiting for the first time, I tell you what.

Showing my tiny Spider-Man shrine because why not? I just love it. And yes Miguel has an Eevee in his lap, his new buddy. 🥺❤️
Also, I want to tell you guys how I got most of this stuff because…I don’t know just want to. I want people to get to know me or something like that.
I found that Peter figure at a playground. No one was there to get him back so I thought fuck it and took him home. And sometimes his arm falls off but oh well, I still love him the way he is. I just call him little homeless Peter ever since.
I got the plushie from a friend as a Christmas gift recently, and way back then I got the Lego car and that little Miles figure as well from that friend. And the mug was given by my bf ❤️.
That tiny Miles figure is from the cinema cup I bought when we went to the premier with my bf. That was the best day of my life, because the premier in Hungary was on the same day as my birthday, June 1st.
I got the Spider-Man 2099 comic at a tiny comic festival which was held in the city I live in. It’s actually translated into Hungarian and I love this comic a lot because it has that iconic Gabriel art in it with the big ass gun. My second best boy.
And the Miguel O’Hara figure was purchased by me. Because I really loved that figure so I got it.
This little shrine is very important to me, it holds many great memories.

#random#man I love spider-man so much#We could even say that he and the Spiderverse movies made my life so much better#and saved it too#no one could make me hate him#never

Fall into the world of Pokemon. This time in Johto.
Come across a Kimono girl in need of assistance getting back to Ecruteak City. Find out along the way that they also take care of the shrines set about Johto.
Upon reaching the City, a shiny Eevee comes bounding up to me and will not leave me be. Turns out that whoever this Eevee chooses will be a traveling shrine maiden.
So I spill about there not being any pokemon in my native lands. So the Kimono group decided to teach and sponsor me so I can become a proper trainer for my own safety.
Shiny Eevee is actually a grandmother, having a decent sized family not willing to break apart. So I have my team. There are enough eevees for every eeveelution.
Part of the sponsorship is that I have to wear kimonos, practically all the time. All differing from shrines, days, towns, and travel.
So now I have 9 eevees, kimonos, and the job the clean the shrines as I walk around Johto.

Hello professor, I wanna share something that brightened my day. Recently the train station near Lavender town has adopted a Meowth as the station master, which does match the station mascot being a meowth. Kanto has an extensive railroad system that actually spreads around the region, granted not a lot of trainers use it but a lot of regular folk do. Each station has it's own Pokémon mascots depicted in wall art and plush form in the Pokèmart in the station, alongside other pieces of merchandise centered around them.
The stations and their mascots
Pallet Town- The Kanto starters
Viridian city- Nidoking and Nidoqueen
Pewter City- Clafable (originally a steelix but it was changed in the late nineties because it was too scary for young kids)
Cerulean City- Poliwhirl
Vermillion City- The Pikachu line
Lavender town- Meowth
Celadon City- Bellsprout
Fuchsia city- Venonat
Saffron city- Alakazam
Ok so Cinnabar island technically doesn't have a train station because of the whole being an island thing but there is a ferry station at the docks, the town's managed to rebuild very nicely after the volcano erupted several years back, Blaine actually still has his gym in the seafoam islands to give trainers a challenge, the ferry station has an Arcanine as the mascot and right outside to access the rest of the island is a shrine dedicated to the Pokémon Ninetales
The sevi islands also have the ferry system and they have mascots too
One island- Flareon
Two island- Vaporeon (it was temporarily changed to a Psyduck due to something going around online but due to community outrage it was changed back)
Three island- Jolteon
Four island- Espeon
Five island- Umbreon
Six island- Leafeon (was changed from Eevee)
Seven island- Glaceon (was changed from Eevee)
Eight island- Sylveon (this was changed from Eevee about a year ago and so far no one's made a fuss about it)
Nine island- Eevee
Cute!

(@pokege-ne-project ; Neo-Ka) Huh... Weird-ass place. Poking around a bit, it's ain't exactly anything the Eevee was used to. "What kinda fancy ol' thing is that door, anyway? It kinda looks like a fancier ol' sewer door." While not talking to anyone in particular, it WAS strange.
Wo, as he overhears what is said, slowly makes his way over. He waits for the right moment before making his voice heard.
Wo: "May I be of any assistance? You do sound quite curious about the features of my shrine, with a keen interest in the pattern on the door."

Fiore Folklore and Spirituality: Part 1- Legendary Beasts
Ok so before I can explain the thing with eevees, I need to start with the legendary beasts. I'm not an anthropologist, historian, or folklorist, so this is based on what I remember from school, and picked up living in Fiore all my life.
So in Fiore, like in nearby(ish) Johto, the primary pokemon worshiped have been the legendary beasts: Raikou, Entei and Suicune. And "worshiped" is definitely the correct word. There is a massive and elaborate temple dedicated to these three pokemon. It's somewhat defunct now, but the belief has far from died out.
Some people still outright worship these three pokemon in a way similar to deities. While the temple is no longer in regular use, people have at-home shrines, often featuring an item representing each pokemon (e.g. a candle, a cup of water, and a piece of metal; or volcanic rock, pearl, and fulgurite).
Some accept them as simply rare and powerful pokemon. Not holy, but worthy of respect/reverence.
And of course, there are people who don't believe in legendaries at all.
Even for people who don't literally believe in the legendary beasts, it's baked into the culture. A lot of swearing and oaths are based on Entei, Raikou and Suicune. As is common in many regions (e.g. Galar and Kanto) the triad of fire-water-electricity is a common motif: in fairy tales, in character trios in fiction, in counting rhymes and simple games. There is a weather phenomenon of loud winds that people call "Suicune's howling". Ball lightning (which is yet to have one distinct cause/scientific explanation) is traditionally attributed to Raikou.
Folklorically, the three beasts are associated with disasters, their origin legend being that they were pokemon resurrected by Ho-oh after a brass tower was hit by lightning, caught fire, and was put out by rain. In Fiore (and I'm sure elsewhere) Entei is associated with volcanic eruptions primarily, but has gained an association with wildfires as well. Raikou is naturally linked to thunder/lightning, and Suicune with flooding, rainstorms, and windstorms.
While "disasters" has a certainly negative connotation, that's not the attitude I've observed from believers. Much as the legendary beasts themselves were reborn from disaster, there's often a narrative or motif about life emerging from these wild natural phenomena.
I could be projecting, but it's something I see as very much fitting the ranger ethos, and it makes me wonder if worship of the legendary beasts culturally is part of what helped the Ranger Union get such a strong foothold here. A good ranger knows that wildfires are good for the health of the forest, that lightning helps make fertile soil (it's part of the nitrogen cycle!), that the floodplain is an important part of the ecosystem of a river. Whether at the spiritual or literal level, the goal is always to understand and live in balance with this phenomena.

So, news is that Animal Crossing Pocket Camp is shutting down its servers, and instead there will be a one-time-payment offline version to keep your progress with.
And I don't know if it's just my relationship with the game, but I'm thinking pretty positively about that!
I used to play the game actively when it was new, but, like all games, I eventually dropped off my interest in it and it was relegated to the large rotation of when-I-feel-like-it mobile titles.
The last time I remember actively playing was during a Let's Go, Pikachu/Eevee tie-in where I used my hoarded Leaf Tickets to ensure I got all the Pokemon stuff and made my campsite a replica of Oak's lab as best I could on one side and an Eevee shrine on the other. To this day, this is my campsite's layout. And my character is in an Eevee outfit.
I dipped in and out enough to customize my backdrop/foreground to be as trippy as possible. Underwater sky, cloud entrance, and I don't remember what the middle is. I haven't played during the day recently so it's all been night tones so I don't really remember what it looks like.
But every time I dropped in it just felt awful to play. Advertisements plastered around the screen, a new Happy Home feature that you had to pay Leaf Tickets to get the most out of, every set you could outright buy was split between Bells and Leaf Tickets, and of course the coolest stuff was Leaf Tickets. So. Many. Fortune. Cookies. Events that seemed like a predatory time-suck or money-suck if you didn't dedicate your life to the game.
It was overwhelming and it seemed like 90% of the interesting stuff was paid-for. So I usually just dipped in, mashed through the advertisements, spoke to some villagers, and left. So much of the game felt like lookie-no-touchy because I'm free-to-play so I just stuck to the bare basics I remembered.
And really, with my Pokemon-themed campsite with the trippy background elements, I felt that I had peaked. There would be nothing I found more interesting than that.
---
So when I saw the announcement about the game being taken down and replaced with a one-time-fee version, I was only happy.
Because something else recent was that I was thinking about how I don't really have any offline games I like right now on my phone, and I'm at a loss as to how to find a one-time-payment, microtransaction-free game on the app store. Since all it's advertising to me is free-to-play games and the few ones that have prices also have the "contains microtransactions" small print.
Whatever the offline version is, I'm sure I'll enjoy it.
If it's barebones and has none of the microtransaction items available, then it'll still be a cozy game to casually do tasks for the animals in, without all the ads clogging my screen every time I enter.
If the microtransaction items are available, all the better! I can work towards whatever I want to, and while my campsite is already my ideal, I can get my camper and that other building all decorated in new and interesting ways.
I haven't finished befriending all the villagers, so that will also be a feature, regardless of how it works.
And most of all, I want to encourage this behavior. I am free-to-play in almost all cases, especially with online mobile games. I find recurring payments for a game that can go offline at any moment just not worth it.
An offline game I already know I enjoy with a one-time payment option, that is worth it.
Honestly, during the days of free-to-start 3DS games that had a hard cap of like $30 before you basically unlocked the full game and didn't have to (couldn't, in fact) pay any more, I liked that. None of the games that had that system appealed to me enough to buy, but I liked the system for sure.
So yes, I approve, and I am excited to learn more.

JOURNAL 16. LOCATION: ROUTE 31
<<Hey again. Sorry for the wait. I honestly thought about ending these journals but I think you deserve to know what's going on.
Long story short, I lost some team members during a trainer battle. All over again, like some sort of nightmare. I was feeling too overconfident, and challenged a Psychic who couldn't control himself or his Pokemon. Fabian and the Professor tried to protect me while I tried to calm the Psychic down, but his Stantler still went on a rampage that we couldn't really stop.
I wish I could say that I did more. But I just froze up again and they paid the price. When the battle ended, I didn't even stop to see if the Psychic was okay. I just. ran.
At the Ecruteak Pokemon Center, I ran into Bill. My idol. I had planned so many questions to ask if I ever saw him, but...I just ended up crying in front of him instead. How pathetic is that?
But Bill still talked with me. We sat together while he told me about his new Time Capsule project--how it could maybe even move Pokemon back and forth across timelines, someday. Still, he said, it's fascinating to look backwards, but you can't stew in the past forever. But sometimes, you have to step back to move forward. (That made more sense in my head...)
Bill offered me an Eevee. I didn't think I was worthy enough for it but he insisted. A high potential Pokemon for a high potential trainer, he said. And well, how could I say no after that? How can I not continue, after THE Bill entrusted me with this? I named our newest team member HOPE. He's a feisty one. High energy, but maybe that's what we need right now.
Back to move forward. I decided to go back to Azalea Town to meet up with Kurt and Maizie again, and they had some crafted Pokeballs waiting as a gift for me. Kurt even sat with me in Ilex Forest again, and we made wishes at the shrine. (I thought about all of my past team members. I hope they're doing well.)
I'm fishing with Ralph today. I just caught my first big fish: a Magikarp. I think I'm going to name it MIRACLE, or MIRA, for short. That's cute. I should call Whitney later, to get her opinion on it...
It's all quiet on the water today. Ralph's rambling about his kid again, but I don't really mind.
I think I'm going to be alright.>>

ROUND 1 MATCH 3: KUNEKO vs PENNY
The daughter of an angel and a demon, Kuneko (Cassette Beasts) was left on the doorsteps of a ninja clan hideout as a baby. Trained in the arts of ninjutsu and friendship, Kuneko now travels across the land in search of the four elemental shrines of power. Will she ever find her true calling?
Penny (Pokemon Scarlet/Violet) is one of your fellow classmates in the Paldea Region, of whom you meet being harassed by the unruly Team Star. She is quite introverted and shy, but is willing to lend a hand in taking down Team Star. She is also a fan of anime, and favors Eevee and it's various evolutions.
