本日のおはジャズ「Live at Lighthouse」Elvin Jones '72

バークリーの学生時代からNYに居た在米期間、これに熱狂してこればかり聴いてた時期がありました。兎に角、サックス2人のコルトレーン・ライクなアウトフレーズが大好きでして。

しかし、今聴くと「あ、テトラコード」とか「今の3トニックシステムのスーパーインポーズ？」とか、全く熱くなれず、極めて冷静に分析的に聴いてしまいます。特にリーブマンのギミックの連続を聴くとヘビメタのギターの速弾きを聴かされてる気分になってしまいます。こうも聴こえ方が変わるものか…。まぁ、それがロック的エクスタシーを呼び、若い僕は好きだったんでしょう。

当時もどっちかと言うとグロスマンの方が好きだったのですが、今自己分析してみると、ほんの一瞬出て来るオルタードスケールなどバップのフレージングに反応してたのかも。リーブマンもフルートの方がいいと思ってたけど、それもテナーよりもバッピッシュだからなのか…と今なら思います。ビバップへのアンチテーゼを掲げ、新しいものばかり追っかけてたのに、結局はバップが好きだったんだ…と自分のルーツに気付き、愕然とした次第（笑）　でも、クロマティックとインターバルをもっと自由に扱う事が出来れば、所謂「アウトフレーズ」を必要としない自由なノーリックのインプロビゼーションが可能だろうな…と改めて感じました。

今回耳に付いたのは、エルビンのドラムです。このアルバムでは暴れ倒してるイメージでしたが、意外と淡々と叩いてるスパンが長かったんだなぁと。そして左チャンネルからベースと共に分離されたバスドラが聞こえるんだけど、そのバスドラがアタックの要で、先行したそれに導かれる様に反応して右チャンネルのスネアやハットが暴れ始めてる様に聴こえたのが面白��感じました。ここぞと言う時にちゃんとソリストのピークポイントをキャッ��するコンピングは流石だと思いました。サックスの僕からすると、勝手に変に盛り上げ様としないこういうバッキングは凄く楽なんです。

しかし、この2枚組、Side1の裏がSide4(Side2の裏はSide3)ってのがずっと気になってたのですが、どう言う事？順番に聴こうとしたらめんどくさいです。
