Sidechain Tips - How to Sidechain Your Layers

In this video I am going to share advanced sidechaining tips and how you can sidechain your layers. Its a cool trick by using individual sidechains per layer of my basses and how you can get a different result than just sidechaining the whole bass buss or all of the layers with the same sidechain.

Mix Kick & Bass em 3 passos

Da Fresh mostra uma técnica simples para mixar kick e baixo em 3 etapas, usando equalização, compressão sidechain e gain staging.

Primeira Etapa: EQ Eight

Use o primeiro equalizador apenas com low cut no Kick. Use um segundo equalizador para localizar o pico do Kick e suba o ponto do EQ.

Transfira o segundo equalizador para o canal do Baixo e reduza o gain localizado no Kick, para que a frequência do Kick se sobressaia. Configure um low cut nesse equalizador também.

Aplique um boost nas frequências acima do ponto de atenuação no EQ do Bass. Reduza o gain dessa mesma região de frequência no Kick.

Segunda Etapa: Sidechain Compressor

Use o Compressor para aplicar efeito de sidechain do Kick no Baixo, reduzindo o threshold para que a atenuação do Bass aconteça nas batidas do Kick.

Duplique o canal do Kick e faça com que esse canal tenha Kick em toda a música. Assim, o sidechain terá o seu trigger mesmo quando não houver Kick nos breaks da track.

Terceira Etapa: Gain Staging

Para equilibrar o volume do Kick e do Bass, verifique o pico de volume do Kick e defina o volume do Bass a -3 dB de diferença (como ponto de partida).

Compressão no canal

Para que a mix soe mais coesa, agrupe os canais e aplique o Glue Compressor no grupo, com attack um pouco lento em milissegundos, e release também um pouco lento. Ajuste o threshold para que a compressão seja sutil. Configure o makeup para 1 ou 2 dB.
