I went on a night walk with my beau this past week and finally decided to break out the roll of Ilford Delta 3200 I'd been saving! Here's various parts of the IU Bloomington campus after a rainy day.
Delta 3200 is the fastest photographic film currently being manufactured; though its rated speed is technically only 1000 (still quite fast!), it is designed to be push-processed. According to the Ilford data sheet, it can be pushed as high as 25000 ISO, which is just bonkers to me. My Pentax's light meter only goes up to 3200!
What all this means is that this film can produce viable images with very little light when compared to most other photographic films available today.
Anyway I was very impressed with this film and I hope to shoot more of it and truly test its limits!

Codoping double perovskites for single-component white-light-emitting diodes
A new paper published in Energy Material Advances explores Eu3+-Bi3+ codoping double perovskites for single-component white-light-emitting diodes.
"With lead-halide perovskites reaching a mature research stage approaching product marketing, concerns remain about the materials' stability and the toxicity of lead-based salts," said paper author Hongwei Song, professor at College of Electronic Science and Engineering, Jilin University.
Double perovskites with Cs2AgInCl6 composition, often doped with various elements, have been in the spotlight owing to their intriguing optical properties, namely, self-trapped exciton (STEs) emission and dopant-induced photoluminescence. This interest has sparked different synthesis approaches towards both crystals and nanocrystals, and the exploration of many alloy compositions with mono- and trivalent cations other than Ag+ and In3+.

thinking about the way the development of photography would have looked at the time - not from the wider perspective of the public, who first heard about photography suddenly, and as a hot-topic headliner, but from the people working in the fields that led up to it. the litho-printer who'd experimented with some chemical etching and had been interestedly following along the news about a light-sensitive etching process. the people who'd been soaking paper in silver halides just to make patterns with shadow. how different was their view from the people who'd been sketching inside a camera obscura? how similar? and how was it when their friends suddenly started debating the artistic worth of what, to them, was just a new chemical etching process?

Above: Beautiful symmetry or tangled mess?
In my previous post, I introduced THE MOODY BLUES OF THE SLEEPING GIANT, a new black and white photograph where I play with hues of blue and contrast.
In today’s post I continue exploring with monochromatic interpretation of nature with:
THE FOREST.
THE FOREST is neat, laid out with beautiful symmetry. Is it a perfect balance of harmony and form? Or is it a big tangled mess of branches, twigs and foliage, scattered about by light striking from various angles as the sun begins it late afternoon descent?
Interpretation and perspective. How we VIEW THINGS one day may not be the same as the next.
I see certain beauty and symmetry. You are my sunshine, my only sunshine.... as the lyrics going back to 1939-40 state. Perhaps some things don’t change with time.
Pictured is the forest of Centennial Park which is located in Thunder Bay, in Ontario’s Superior Country. Trails include the blue and red trail: a 6.5 mile (10.5 km) loop within a portion of the 147 acres of Centennial Park. The trail begins at the park’s parking lot and follows along the shores of Current River, through the park and Trowbridge Falls.
In my next post I’ll continue with my series exploring the beautiful YUKON TERRITORY.

The paper is coated with a layer of light-sensitive silver halide emulsion, which reacts to light and creates an image when developed with chemicals.

❛ there aren’t any pictures of me as a kid. ❜ (Vasile)
roight now what's all this then // @fairytaletold
SOME EARLY SPRING cleaning is underway in the Lee residence, ironic given how it's currently snowing outside. Nick sits on the floor in his living room, long legs folded beneath him, sifting through a box he'd found under his bed. Old, sentimental things that smell of dust are in here. Original copies of pictures, primarily, unsorted and probably not preserved as well as they should be. He's in some of them, a little thing, smiling, big eyed, evidently full of energy judging by the blur in some of the photos.
HE'S A DIFFERENT person now. Like, of course he is, compared to a two-year-old, but the kid was happy.
HIS STOMACH FEELS weird when he finds a picture of himself being held by his father, and so he passes the pictures back to Vasile, who's situated himself on the couch behind him. Nick leans back between his legs, fingering through ancient documents, pausing when the other speaks.
"I BET YOU were cute," he says, letting his head fall back to look at Vasile upside-down. "Do you show up in pictures?" He can't remember if that applies to half-vampires as well, or if it only matters when the pictures are being taken with silver halide, or if he's just stupid and completely wrong about everything.
