Second night in the new place, which eldest sis and I have dubbed Dreamhaven. Sleep has been tricky -- really looking forward to that bedframe coming in today so I can get the darn mattress off the floor! -- but it's still amazing having my own space. Just being able to look around and see the progress we've made so far and being like, "Mine."

The village of Low Tide is abuzz. Kobolds jump from boat to boat, sharing the news even as it becomes more and more evident to every citizen:
There is something happening in the chapel.
The mighty riverboat that holds Low Tide's congregation each worship is rocking as if in a wild storm on the high sea, and it takes the combined might of the strongest of Low Tide's citizens to lash it to the nearby trees and quell its wild motion enough to board it. There, in the chaos of strewn pews and spilled offering jars, the source is obvious.
A clay statue, molded by the town's pride and joy to replace one mysteriously broken. It is shaped in the visage of the kobold's interpretation of Old Chained Tzela, with an accuracy borne of earnestness and love more than actual skill. The kobolds of Low Tide love it all the more for its flaws, exemplifying the best aspects of their community: love without shame, expression without restraint, effort without reluctance.
The crude idol floats above the chapel altar, bolts of divine electricity arcing off of it.
And every kobold who beholds it, in the back of their head, hears the words of defiance whispered over steady, thumping drums.
Chained beneath the deep.
But we will rise again.
This week on Roll Dice and Cry: Are you on our side?
Roll Dice and Cry relies on word of mouth to grow! If you like our show, please reblog this and remember to tell your friends about the show, and you can blog about the show using the #rdacast tag!

Inside the Silverhome Inn, Sjerd met with Uther’s broker. The man was an Altmer, very tall and lanky. While they discussed matters, Sjerd could not help but hear strange, distant noises coming from somewhere in the inn. His focus on the noise was snapped when the Altmer brought the conversation back to its main purpose by asking if Sjerd had found the Listener that had lured Uther’s daughter into killing his wife so many years ago.
Sjerd sat for but a moment, and thought. He trusted the Listener a great deal. He felt it may be best to dodge the question for now, and let more pieces of the puzzle fall before determining if telling Uther was the right thing to do.

Really sorry about the lack of proper updates. I’ve been writing but across a whole bunch of different stories. Here’s a rough draft of a future Leading the Blind chapter... Rook POV (yeesh, finally).
If I inhaled, I felt dizzy--which caused me to be nauseous. If I exhaled, I felt nauseous--which caused me to feel dizzy. Prone and stripped down to my smalls, I slowly breathed in. It had to be my bed, my room. Or maybe not. I couldn’t remember much last night after Kurz and I’d started in on one another. I might have broken a bottle. People pulling us apart? All of it a gap in my memory.
Not the first time I supposed.
Then, someone sighed. My heart raced. Someone was in the room with me. This was not my room. Instinct took over before my rationality could. My arms pushed up and, while the intent was to swing my legs over, the dizziness took over. Tripping, the world spun around me and my body fell forward. The nausea hit. Hard. I clamped my hand over my mouth but it was no use. I was going to retch on the floor, that was certain.
Until a wooden bucket thrust itself in front of my mouth. Everything from last night splattered into the bottom: booze and more booze and bile and half-digested parts of some roasted chicken I’d been picking at before Kurz and I had gotten into it. Tears streamed down my face. The smell of day old wine and whiskey and beer and whatever else hit me and I threw up again.
“Shhh, it’s alright,” a woman comforted. With one hand, she held my hair away from my face. Her other hand gently wiped a clean rag over her mouth. “You had a rough night. Take deep breaths, in and out.”
I hiccuped. Wiping away my tears with the back of my hand, I took in a deep, ragged breath. I didn’t look up at my nurse. Instead I stayed on my knees, bent over and holding my stomach. She still held my hair. I pushed the bucket as far as I could attempting to get the stench away from me. “Shit,” I rasped.
“Is, um, something wrong?” the woman half-whispered.
I finally turned enough to look at her. “Yeah, I feel like shit.”
Her face went crimson. Something about her seemed familiar. She wore a plain, short-sleeved dress with a dark yellow apron dress over it. Blue eyes and a tiny, slightly upturned nose. Her blonde hair was pulled back into a simple bun with bangs over her forehead. Nothing stood out except for how young she was. A realization overcame me.
“Listen,” I began while laboring back to my feet. “If we rolled around last night, this is the end of that. Because, child, while I don’t care about bedding women, you’re young and I’m not looking for a regular bed partner.”
I had no idea it was possible for a person’s face to become even more red than hers did. Red and pink on crimson flushed to her neck and down into her dress. “Oh! Um, n-no, that’s, uh--” She shot up, her eyes darting to the floor and her fingers fiddling with one another. “It wasn’t anything like that! Last night you got into a brawl with an orc and you were thrown out of the bar but you and him took it to the streets and--”
“Quiet!” I hissed and pressed my palm over my eyes. “Your incessant rambling isn’t doing my headache any favors.” I flopped back onto the bed and laid down. “Where am I and where are my clothes?”
She shrunk back. “Um, we’re in Bravil at an inn--”
“I know that.” Gods above, who was this fool? “I didn’t think Castle Bravil had suddenly accepted uninvited guests.”
“Sorry,” she mumbled. “We’re at Silverhome on the Water.”
“Of course, we are.” Clear across the city from the inn I’ve kept a room at for a little over a year. “And my clothes?”
The young woman scurried to a dresser in the corner of the room. I didn’t bother watching her as she pulled out something, crossing the room back to me with the bundle in hand. “Your clothes. We had one of the innkeepers wash your things last night.”
I nearly shot up but thought better of it. “We?”
She made a noise of surprise. “Well, that’s what I was trying to say, that last night, during that fight, my, uh… friends and I, we broke it up and brought you back here.”
I raised a brow and sighed. My headache wasn’t subsiding like the nausea had but I still didn’t feel like doing anything but sleeping. “And Kurz?”
“Who?”
“The orc.”
She furrowed her brow. “What about him?”
I was ready to damn the hangover and throw her out. “I assume that you and your friends are some do-gooder types that just wanted to keep the peace. Kurz here too? Because if so, you need to tell him that our…” I swallowed some vomit threatening to come up. “Disagreement hasn’t been settled.”
