love solarpunk. dont love how anxious scrolling the tags can make me. but like its my job to consciously consume. so i will probably reblog and/or post a fair bit of solarpunk posts BUT not yhe ones that discuss intense climate crisis statistics or other anxiety provoking (for me) things. not bc i dont think they're important, but bc this blog is a curated safe space full of hope and peace for me. ik solarpunk is inherently political and intertwined w socialist ideals and i support that. just gonna filter it a tad here so i can, like said, consume consciously and not make my anxiety worse

the fandom that you're a lifelong prisoner to is NOT a choice lmao like every day you wake up and witness violence and ask "why dont i like something else?" and it's because we do not choose, god made us this way.

you know when you're in a discussion like, "wait, what's even the point of this? we won't see this the same way at all and just end up mad at each other for no potential gain".
like you just haven't prepared any data or arguments, it's just a discussion of reasoning and you just aren't understanding each other.

two people in my department have had heart attacks in the last 3 months (one fatal) and another one is out on stress-induced medical leave and [agency]’s response has been to ask us to move up the timeline on [extremely stressful project] while down 3 people. they sent us this request about an hour after they sent out a staff-wide email about mental health awareness :)

From one level 20 player whose final boss was Dispater to another: good luck and pray you either have a DM who edited out the magic bonk or some really good save bonuses
I-... Oh. Oh boy.
I'm afraid I probably don't have the former. In fact, my DM tends to soup up baddies on a regular basis bc high level encounter balance is fucked. We're not as mechanically broken as our sister party, who fought off a Tarrasque+ Deluxe Edition at the end of an extended arena fight in Ysgard and are gonna go kill homebrew god!Vecna later, but like, on average the baddies are boosted across the board.
Eugene does not have the other either unless it is INT and DEX. CON, WIS, and STR all have a +0 because I was new when I built him.
It’s fine… We have classes that are capable of healing in the party, like our 1.75 bards across 3 people, and the celestial warlock… It’s totally gonna be fine… We also have the power of love and a Minotaur barbarian with 315 hit points.

Tumblr media
VI’S HOT TAKES  / anon / ACCEPTING !         ↳   send a sonic or rpc-specific topic please !!
Tumblr media
       ↳  🔥 + drama
        ||. so... the best way to stop drama is to just  ... not engage in drama.
TL;DR:  don’t go out of your way to read something that makes you mad. don’t head into a tag you’re 50/50 about. don’t go on social media when you’re in a bad mood whether you’re cranky or just really tired. if you think you are in a state where you might become volatile, just take a step back and do not engage. to be quite frank about it, your anger will not only ruin YOUR day if you allow it to, but once it’s posted onto public, it becomes everyone else’s business even in the cases where it shouldn’t be.
... y’all it’s okay to ... NOT publish the mean anon you got. just delete it. don’t give it the time of day. 90% of the time the people who say mean things are just trying to elicit a response out of you. do not give them the satisfaction of engaging their playground taunt with a response.
FURTHERMORE in the case where this sort of thing just cannot be avoided: always always ALWAYS take a step back before even CONSIDERING a response. some things just get under our skin. that’s okay. that’s normal! frankly, you ought to listen to your anger. it’s just an emotion that is telling you that something is wrong. HOWEVER. that doesn’t make it okay for anyone to ACT upon that anger. not that anon, and not you. or the people who read it after!
there is a way to go about responding to your own anger and putting down a boundary with those mean people (and / or the people who want to get a rise out of you) in a way that doesn’t fuel the flames. and part of that is walking away. always, always always WALK AWAY before you do anything else. and if you can’t, then you need to respectfully disengage (ie: delete the ask, in this examples’ case), and get your mind off of it for a while. at least, for until you can work through your thoughts and come back to it with a more level head.          write down your thoughts in a word doc or a journal! go punch a pillow! go on a walk or a run to cool off! drink some water and grab a hot shower; do some TLC!  your anger is telling you that you got hurt, and sometimes we just need to let it out and come back later.
if , when you come back, that mean thing is still bothering you, then - with the understanding of WHY it’s bothering you under your belt - you can respond. but do so in a way that’s polite, and without an attitude. because the second you respond to the other person with cursing, or sarcasm, or just general spite? you’ve already lost that battle. you have not just received drama, you’ve BECOME the drama for actually everyone else around you. it creates a very... awkward atmosphere.

This is something that has happened for me over recent years, and it’s that too much exposure to fandom and just continuously reading every single person’s take on a favorite series—-has actually ruined my experience. Not just from very opposite POVs necessarily, but just wild™️ conspiracy theories at this point and even very alarming author-hate
It’s just a lot. I miss the days we’d read a series and share our books with friends and that was just the height of it all. Leave the deep diving to actual reviewers and literature majors to really analyze.
But as an ordinary reading citizen, I’d like to not break my brain trying to defend a book I love from others so determined to ruin the joy
i think i get what you mean. fandom culture can be really overwhelming, especially when the discussions focus on finding flaws with everything. there is a tipping point at which some issues become more about virtue signalling than actually discussing harmful behaviour or content in a productive manner. however, i also think that it is important not to completely discourage these discussions in non-academic circles, because i think some people could do well to at least occasionally engage more critically with the media they consume. it sharpens the critical thinking analysis skills that are important for every day life as well. but yeah, i also agree that you don't have to—or even should—engage in media discussions for everything you "consume". because sometimes you simply consume for the escapism and that's it. in the end it’s probably just best if you engage in fandom culture sporadically. find a balance that works for you. and also, i mean, you don't have to defend everything you enjoy to strangers on the internet. like, let's be honest, these people only have as much influence on your life—online and offline—as you allow them to have.

Through looking through memes found an old partner that I thought was just inactive, that apparently I'm not following and they neither me anymore. Hm. Well, I just hope it wasn't a case of me unfollowing them by glitch and then they assumed I wasn't interested anymore.
