Lilac Bush:  TS3 to TS4 & Pocci’s Lilacs

Lilacs are very special to me, they remind me of my mother. This is an item that I wanted so badly in my own game. I was surprised that though there are some beautiful lilac deco by Pocci  (@serenebluesims) that you can find HERE, & HERE, there was no lilac bush for outdoors. Pocci has given me permission to use her lilacs mesh for this item, to replace the original flower part of the TS3 item. Many thank yous, Pocci! ❤️ (Make sure to check out the rest of Pocci’s CC at the above handle, her creations are very beautiful (including many more flowers CC that you *will want*) some of my favorite CC items that I have in my own game. A note about the TS3 branches: I found this item a very long time ago and had it saved in a folder for when I could possibly do this project. It has no creator name in the file anywhere, all I can see is that it is a sims3pack file. This item very well may be a TS2 to TS3 conversion, that I have converted. I would like to credit the original creator of this item, so if anyone recognizes it, please please let me know. I have searched for quite a long time today for it and have had no luck.

"Aspen" Hair | TS4

Consider this a thank you gift for 10k over on @ophernelia! This is the first hair I'm publicly releasing, so I apologize if the quality isn't the best. I'm still learning! I hope you enjoy it though! Be forewarned that the bang may clip if your sim has a protruded brow. Other than that the hair seems to function fine. Please feel free to recolor this hair, remesh this hair, include it in a free sim dump etc. As always just be mindful of my tou. In-game shots are below.

*I have a slight ocd and I didn't want to use realistic phones in my poses - so I converted the maxis' phones from the clutter kit. The phone has 9 swatches, attached to the left stigmata, disallowed for random. It's under the left ring finger so a bit low res.

UPDATE: Now includes a higher-res version under the hat category!!!

**If you don't like the big brick phone, the poses also kinda work with Natalia-Auditore's iPhones, with some clipping & misalignment in two of the poses that can be worked off with camera angle.

***After being traumatised by making poses from absolute scratch last time, I'm glad that I found out about RigPlus by @vyxated which has saved my life by making posing 100 times easier!!! crying rn

****Remesh/recolour is highly welcomed (i mean it's not my mesh afterall), just let me know because I'd like to use them too! .psd is included in the folder :)

Today I have a mixed bag of goodies to offer up to this amazing Sims 2 community! Under the cut, you’ll find preview pictures, more information, and the download link!

@daydreamingdrawerette requested a few 4t2 lamps, and here they are in all their glory... along with one I wanted for myself. In order from top to bottom, left to right...

Interrogation Illumination (Lighting > Ceiling) from Get to Work.

The Forgotten Saucer (Lighting > Ceiling) from Journey to Batuu.

Dollop O’ Light (Lighting > Wall) from the Base Game.

The Beamer (Lighting > Ceiling) from Get to Work.

In the Raw Industrial Table Lamp (Lighting > Table) from the Base Game.

As I said in my last post, @sofia-28tosi-blog had requested some 4t2 counters, so I did a couple more for her. This is the “Whittler’s Pride Kitchen Counter” from Cottage Living. All recolors are included... with a great big asterisk attached, which I will explain now. 

The mapping for Sims 4 counters is extremely different from Sims 2 counters, but in order for sinks to place properly in counters, the countertop can’t be remeshed/changed. I had to choose between 100% Sims 4 accurate aesthetics or functionality... and functionality is going to win every single time. Rather than use the countertop textures from Sims 4, I used the texture of @cluedosims / @shastakiss‘ Cluedo woods, but colormatched to the original Sims 4 textures. There is barely a difference in colors, and honestly... Shasta’s wood texture is nicer than EAxis’ in my opinion.

There are ten base recolors and seven countertop recolors (not all pictured). They are separate subsets... you can mix and match to your heart's content. Countertops have a clean and messy state. And as I already said... sinks will place properly.

This is the “VAULT Modular Counter” from the Base Game. As I said before... I sacrificed 100% original Sims 4 textures for functionality. I wanted a wood grain that was as close as the original as possible, which sadly made the Cluedo texture not a good match for these, but after some googling, I found a conversion of a floor by @fakebloood that was originally by PralineSims (you can find the floors here) that I used as a base for the texture, then color matched to the original countertops.

There are 15 bases and 15 countertop recolors (not all pictured). They are separate subsets so you can mix and match. Countertops have a clean and messy state and sinks place properly. 

Next up... I have the “Haughty Herringbone Fireplace” from Growing Together. It can be found in Appliances > Miscellaneous and is fully functional. All recolors are included.

Last, but certainly not least is the “Wub Tub Electromagic DJ Booth” and get this... it’s fully functional! Sims 2 DJ booths have a platform that Sims 4 DJ booths do not, and I honestly have no idea how to change that... so I added the platform in by cloning a 3t2 dj booth by FabulousZombie on LJ. I used their platform as a base (since the ones in Sims 2 are just ugly) and built atop it. The platform is not recolorable, but the booth itself is. Many thanks to FabulousZombie, and you can find their 3t2 dj booths here. 

All recolors for all objects are included. Each object is in an individual folder containing pictures of each recolor so you can pick and choose what you want. Make sure you discard the images once you’ve decided what to keep. Files are compressorized.

Hi! So I’m in the process of learning how to make clothes CC. I’ve got MD and Blender down however I seem to be struggling with textures. No matter what unless its bright colours, the textures seem to look quite LQ in game. I was wondering if you had any tips regarding textures for clothes CC in Photoshop?

i'm going to be so so real but with this game, you can't really get super crisp textures without using HQ mod or some other mod. it's why a lot of creators go maxis match bc this game is very low spec.

i can offer some tips

try not to stretch out your uv maps. it will result in stretched out and distorted textures

you can try baking your textures at a higher size (2048x4096) but be sure to save a version that is standard size (1024x2048) for those who do not have high spec computers.

you can use photoshop's surface blur to add a slight sharp blur to your textures but again, it's the game, not you.

ONE LAST THING

if you do use marvelous designer, PLEASE LEARN TO RETOPOLOGIZE YOUR CLOTHING. a lot of creators use MD and import a 800K dress into a package file and it does NOT increase the quality. all you'll get is a piece of laggy mesh that'll slow down your game, cause last exceptions and won't weight or uv1 well.

you have options. you can

manually retopologize or use a blender add on to do so.

2. you can use MD's remesh option here (i am using MD10). it will turn your mesh into quads which are a bit easier to work with in blender. be sure to triangulate your mesh (ctrl + T) when you import into sims 4 studio

3. you can retrace the uv in blender via this method

4. or my preferred method, retrace and use shapekeys by @ts4eve. she knows what she's doing and i wish half of patreon simblr would read this tutorial.
