We've hit Fall Thursday in the Chill Valicer Save today, and you know what that means -- Harvestfest! And they had a FREAKING BUSY Harvestfest, let me tell you -- if I counted correctly, this update has NINETY PICTURES in total. Yeah, uh, it's actually a pretty good thing that we can upload more than ten to a post now, isn't it? O.O

Anyway! Morning started off pretty tamely and typically -- Smiler, freshly retraited after the end of the last episode, took Shadow out on a nice walk, while Alice went upstairs to gather inspiration from their fish and then start a new book (a motivational book called "Solving Your Problems With Trains" ;) ) and Victor woke from sleep and got right on studying his Nimble Mind and Emotional Stability potion tomes. I do think it's very cool how higher-level spellcasters have the books float in front of them like that. . . Anyway, Victor discovered three things from all that reading -- the recipe for the Nimble Mind potion (requires parsley and a spotted dirt frog -- figured even if Smiler didn't have that in their collection, they could breed it eventually); the recipe for the Emotional Stability potion (requires a potato and obtanium -- again, even if Alice didn't have that in her metal collection, she could dig it up eventually); and --

The fact that the fossil display shelves made by @somecreativecc ALSO FUNCTION AS A BOOKCASE. O.o Uh, SomeCreative, was -- was that intentional? I'm not COMPLAINING, I just find it a touch bizarre? *shakehead* So, yeah, Victor's tomes went in there with the fossils once he was done with them and gotten his magical "free samples." *shrug* Like I said, not complaining, just -- slightly confused.

Now -- while all this was going on, I was also checking both Shadow and Kelly for signs of illness, because, as you may remember last time, I found a couple of random puddles of sick around the place and wasn't sure which pet was producing them. Shadow seemed fine on her walk, and when I looked around the house again, I found another puddle of sick by one of Kelly's scratching posts. This really seemed to indicate that it was poor Kelly who wasn't feeling well --

A hypothesis confirmed when she came over to hang out with Alice near her desk while she wrote, and another puddle of sick appeared right next to her. I had Victor use Scruberoo to clean up all the sick, then go pamper Kelly with a little brushing as I tried to determine what was wrong. I mean, after all, the cat didn't LOOK ill -- Sim illnesses in both pets and people tend to be pretty visible! The only other explanation I could think of was poor Kelly had hairballs, which -- would be very impressive on a hairless cat like herself! I made a note to get her to the vet later, and she eventually ran off to do more cat things. Leaving more sick behind her. *sigh*

With THAT mystery solved, and Victor's potions learned, I decided it was time for him to get back on fabricating stuff -- namely because I wanted to do some more eco upgrades around the house. So he headed down to the barn, where -- after Repairioing all the broken wind turbines and water collectors, and setting out some sacred candles to help with his still-broken "Fear Of The Dark" moodlet and the scary noises around the house -- he proceeded to make another eco upgrade part. (Really wish I could made those in BULK, but what are you gonna do.) I then sent him to the garden to do the usual tending -- weeding, watering, fertilizing -- as Alice continued working on her book (maxing out the Writing skill in the process! Go Alice!) and Smiler came back from their walk with Shadow. The doggo went to hang with Victor in the greenhouse as he started harvesting, while Smiler entertained Kelly and Alice finished up her book, submitted it to the literary digest (because obviously this guide on Bumby murder deserves it), then went to clean the chicken coop and entertain the cowplant -- which, since we seem to be keeping it for the time being, I decided to name "Toothy." I mean, if the large drooling maw full of sharp teeth fits...

Hi guys! First post on tumblr, kinda excited. For a long time I've been struggling with attempting new Sims 4 legacy challenges, as I couldn't find any that also go into newer packs. I've played Not So Berry a bunch of times (never actually finished lol), and it inspired me to go into a rabbithole of legacy challenges. Before we start, this challenge was inspired by a Sims 3 Monster High challenge made by simmingsamantha.tumblr.com. I took A LOT of inspiration (especially in the beggining) when making this challenge, so please, make sure to check them out. <3 This challenge was made inspired by my fav characters from Monster High. You don't need to make your sims look like the dolls, there's specific color suggestions but also - you don't need to follow them. Play the challenge the way YOU are going to enjoy it! NOW ONTO THE BASIC RULES! 1. Normal lifespan, 2. No cheats, unless stated otherwise, 3. I suggest using the color combos provided to make the game look more interesting, 4. Every generation is supposed to complete their career and aspiration (unless stated otherwise). 5. Announcing: the We Have Pokémon at Home battle tournament!

We are proud to present the follow-up to the Pokémon Battle Tournament: the We Have Pokémon at Home Battle Tournament! In this tournament, monsters from the monster taming/battling/collecting genre that are explicitly Not Pokémon will duke it out in a one-on-one battle tournament. This tournament will take on the same format as the Pokémon Battle Tournament, asking “who would win in a battle?”. For this tournament, we are taking submissions for which monsters to include. Monsters from non-pokémon franchises, pokémon parodies, fakémon and beta pokémon are eligible. Your own fakémon creations and unique outside the box suggestions are especially encouraged.

Q&A: Which monsters can I submit as contestants? Monsters eligible to be included in the tournament are:

Monsters from another monster taming franchise. A non-exhaustive list is included below, monsters from other franchises are eligible as well.

In-universe Pokémon parodies (think, for instance, of the Voidcritters from the Sims 4) are allowed and encouraged, provided individual species are documented somewhere online.

Fakémon are allowed and encouraged. Especially your own creations are encouraged as a special treat. Mons from published fangames are allowed. Fakémon variants of existing Pokémon are allowed. Fusion designs are allowed.

In the light of the recent leaks, beta versions of Pokémon are allowed. For leaked pokémon, any link to a post discussing the leak is sufficient as documentation.

Anything else you can think of that fits the criterion of “we have Pokémon at home”. Outside the box suggestions are encouraged.

Monsters ineligible to be included in the tournament are:

Official Pokémon or any of the canon variants thereof.

Monsters that lack an image or online documentation of an individual species.

Monsters not submitted as individual species.

What do I need to submit a monster? To submit a monster, you need an image link and a link to information about the monster, preferably a wiki page or an introduction post by its creator.

How many monsters can I submit? As many as you like. Go nuts.

Which monsters will be included? As many as are needed to round up or down to the nearest power of 2. Preference will be given to a variety of origins, so if a specific franchise or fakémon creator dominates the submissions not all of them will be included.

When are the submissions due? Submissions will run for two weeks, until December 20th. Depending on the rate of submissions, I reserve the right to cut off submissions early if the number of submissions runs in the thousands.

When will I know if my submission made it? When the polls for round 1 go up! A huge part of the fun of the first round is, to me, the element of surprise, so you will find out at the same time as everyone else who is in the tournament.

GENERATION 4: Museum

Traits: Genius, Overachiever(bga: Perfectionist), Bookworm Aspiration: Nerd Brain Goals: Open a museum showcasing AT LEAST 6 ITEMS from 4 DIFFERENT collections. (Pick your own collections if you please, there are 16 BG options. For the ones I find the most ‘museum like’, here are my suggestions: Microscope prints, Insects(O.R), Fossils, Ancient Omiscan Artifacts(J.A), MoonWood Relics(Werewolves)). Reach max level in logic, and research and debate(bga: Writing) Extra: Publish at least 2 research books or guides.

Traits: Outgoing, Goofball, Foodie Aspiration: Friend of the World Goals: Open a run a lounge that offers live entertainment and good drinks. Reach max level in Charisma, Comedy OR Singing(bga: piano) Become friends with regular customers. Extra: Perform comedy or singing gigs at your lounge!

GENERATION 7: Daycare

Round 3 - Chondrichthyes - Hexanchiformes

The Hexanchiformes are a primitive order of sharks, of which only 7 species in 2 families remain. These families are the Hexanchidae (“cow sharks”, also called “sixgill sharks” or “sevengill sharks”) and Chlamydoselachidae (“frilled sharks”).

Hexanchiformes have one small, spineless dorsal fin located over or behind the pelvic fins and one anal fin. Their cartilaginous vertebral column extends into the long dorsal lobe of the caudal fin, while the ventral lobe of the caudal fin is either small or absent. They have either six or seven gill slits, a large mouth, and small spiracles located well above and behind the eyes. The eyes have no nictitating membrane. Hexanchiformes are most common near the ocean floor in cold, deep water in the tropics, but are also found closer to the shore in more temperate regions. Many of these sharks exhibit vertical migration, following prey closer to the surface at night, and submerging back to the depths during the day. Hexanchiformes are ovoviviparous and feed on yolk within their mother. They have litters of varying size, ranging from 2 to 108 pups, depending on species.

The Hexanchiformes date back to the Early Jurassic, with some evidence of even earlier existence in the Permian. Fossil Hexanchid teeth have been found dating back as early as the Late Jurassic, and Triassic sharks appear very similar to modern Hexanchids. However, while the Chlamydoselachidae (frilled sharks) look ancient, they arose in the Late Cretaceous with most other modern shark families.

Propaganda under the cut:

The Sharpnose Sevengill Shark (Heptranchias perlo) and the Broadnose Sevengill Shark (Notorynchus cepedianus) are the only species of sharks to have seven gill slits.

Some Bluntnose Sixgill Sharks (Hexanchus griseus) recieved a unique spotlight when they began repeatedly bumping into the submarine of the Blue Planet II film crew, thinking the crew was after their whale carcass.

The Broadnose Sevengill Shark (Notorynchus cepedianus) (image 1) is the only shark in this order known to pose any threat to humans, due to their habitat being in proximity to humans and propensity for retaliating when provoked. Human remains have been found in one specimen's stomach, though these were likely deceased, drowned individuals, as this species has a reputation for feeding on anything it can fit in its mouth. In 2020 a 13 year old girl was bitten while surfing at Oreti Beach in New Zealand. The girl continued to surf for an hour before realizing her leg was bleeding.

Unlike its relatives which will often scavenge carrion and feed on whale falls, the Atlantic Sixgill Shark (Hexanchus vitulus) is known to be much more picky. It will not feed on prey after it has been dead for 24 hours, instead ignoring older prey to move on to its next kill.

Nothing could really hurt you in the freediving sim “Endless Ocean” (in the first game anyway) but I still got really freaked out when I had to dive down in the trenches. So whenever I had to do some deep-deep-diving, I would immediately go and find a frilled shark to befriend, because if you fed them enough they would follow you around. Having a smiley little buddy by my side always made me feel much calmer in that area, so frilled sharks still give me that little boost of seratonin just by association. They were there for me even when my stupid Risso’s Dolphin was effin off to go harass a squid or whatever.

While the two species of frilled shark that are alive today are relatively small, the larger of the two being the 2.0 m (6.6 ft) long Frilled Shark (Chlamydoselachus anguineus), some extinct species could get to be very large. The Late Cretaceous Rolfodon goliath was likely the largest, reaching an estimated 5-6 meters (19 ft 8in) long.

Meanwhile, the Southern African Frilled Shark (Chlamydoselachus africana) is much smaller, with the largest known female being the immature 117 cm (3.8 ft) long holotype, and the largest known male measuring 99 cm (3.2 ft) long.

New The Sims 4 Survey Asks Players About Future Expansion Packs

There is a new official The Sims 4 survey asking players about potential expansion pack ideas they could develop in the future, based on nine different concepts.

This is not the first time EA asks players for feedback on ideas for upcoming packs. Titles like Snowy Escape were heavily hinted in official surveys years before their release.

With that said, it is uncertain if any of these nine expansion pack ideas will see the light of day, or how much they will change upon development. You can read a brief description of each of the nine concepts below.

I got really into watching drama filled let’s play and i thought what would be more fun than making my own!

Introducing: The Love Wreck Legacy Challenge

Forest Ink Update

For those out of the loop, I made a post discussing Angela Benedict's Forest Ink Haul (Sponsored) video. Angela is a goth subculture Youtuber who's been apart of the scene since the 90's.

There, I talked about and investigated the ethics of Forest Ink clothing. I wanted to know whether the company's claims of slow-fashion, sustainability, and ethical work environments were true.

A Bit of Digging

Human Rights

Forest Ink prides itself on honoring human rights within the textile industry. They have an active SA8000 certificate, given to them by Social Accountability International. SAI is a non-profit registered in New York. They oversee working conditions and helped establish the standards the company claims to follow. Inspections occur in-house every 3 years.

SA8000's measures forbid child labor, slavery, discrimination, and unreasonable working hours. A living wage must be provided to all employees.

In an email I sent out, a representative told me that their clothing is manufactured in Guangdong, China. After products are assembled, they are shipped off to their New York headquarters.

I don't know how much the overseas employees are paid. There are some promotional images of the factory on the website, which I found interesting.

The SA8000 certification indicates that Forest Ink most likely respects human rights in the workplace.

Environmental Sustainability

Forest Ink asserts that it uses"100% biodegradable" packaging to mail orders. When shipping, clothes are contained in primarily corn-based wrappings that are plastic free.

Mail orders are made of different compounds, specifically PLA (Polylactic Acid) and cornstarch. The slips must be sent to an Industrial Composting Facility to properly degrade over time. Regular plants won't have the equipment required to process this material.

Before purchasing from Forest Ink, make sure that your local composters take PLA.

It also goes without saying that gas-based transport is unhealthy for the environment. C02 emissions released during travel contribute to global warming and pollute airways. Almost every business involved with online ordering refers to gas-powered vehicles.

Now, what about the products themselves?

Polyester, Spandex, and Nylon are the most frequently used fabrics. As far as eco-friendliness goes, they are detrimental to the environment. Their production chain unleashes lots of carbon and other fossil fuels. All of these variations derive from plastic.

Purchasing decisions like this need to be made carefully. If you rush to buy clothes you don't actually want or will often wear, you'll leave behind a piece of plastic unable to biodegrade. This is why I advocate for second-hand shopping and an informed public.

We need to consider how resources are used in order for this world to survive. Most are finite. Often, a resource used is a resource lost.
