Red Brick Ranch

This right here is my childhood Christmas: a wood paneling, artificial tree, opening presents on shaggy carpeted floors kind of Christmas. This particular simple ranch home isn't based on either of my grandparents' homes, but it might as well be. I've made divinity in that kitchen. I've watched the snow fall out that picture window.

Ranch homes get a lot of slack for their datedness and lack of character. But I'm here to defend them, especially at Christmas. In fact I almost called this one Rudolph the Red-Nosed Ranch, but that felt a little too on the nose. They might not be anyone's Pinterest-perfect dream home, but as home ownership becomes more and more unobtainable, a simple ranch starter home might just be your dream come true. That goes double for disabled folks, or older folks aging in place, as their single-story floor plan makes them one of the most accessible types of homes available!

This home might be perfect for: a single mom who works two jobs, grandparents (mine, specifically, but also maybe your sim's?), sims that use mobility aids, in your story or in actual gameplay, should we ever get such a thing, or developers looking to paint some brick, slap down millennial gray laminate floors, and flip this bad boy...

Letter to Father Winter Mod

Many people as kids wrote a letter to Father Winter and asked for presents, right? With this mod, sims in the age stage of children and teens can do the same! During the winter season, they can send a letter wishing for a gift (and there are over 200 options!).

NRAAS Careers Mod

Branches and Wages: I decided to focus on two branches for my Dermatology career, which branch out after level 5: Cosmetic Dermatology, focusing on non-surgical treatments and Cosmetic Dermatologic Surgery, which specializes in skin surgery. The two branches share the same skill and metric requirements, as they are both part of the medical field. The main difference lies in their salaries, with the Cosmetic Dermatologic Surgery branch offering a higher pay. I aimed to make the wages as realistic as possible however to compensate for the increased days off and decreased work hours as the level increases, I had to raise the hourly wages beyond the normal salary ranges for Levels 6-10 for both branches. Metrics and Books: This career is similar to the medical career in The Sims 3, particularly in terms of the logic skill and research as part of its metrics. However, I also included charisma, as I believe it’s a vital skill for patients to trust and feel comfortable with their doctors, especially when it comes to skin treatments. Opportunities and Uniforms: With a bit of experience in creating opportunities, I decided to add four this time, three of which are repeatable! All of them are relatively simple and offer bonuses, as well as salary increases for some as rewards upon completion. For uniforms, I’ve provided a picture above to highlight the differences between the levels by assigning different colors to the scrubs. There isn’t a general color assigned to dermatology uniforms, as hospitals usually decide the scrub colors for their various departments. As stated above, you will need NRAAS Careers Mod for these careers to show up in the game and as long as you have the latest version of it, it should work for higher patches. I’m not fluent in any other languages to translate so if anyone is interested in translating this career, please don’t hesitate to send me a message here, comment on this post or let me know in my Ask/Contact form (if you don’t have a Tumblr account) and will let you know the details. I have tested this career in my game, so far it is working and all scripts are showing up. All feedback is very welcome to help me learn and improve my skills so please let me know if you experience any problems on your end and I’ll do my best to sort it as soon as possible.

ADVENT CALENDAR 2024 🎄

Yep, I'm also hosting an advent calendar event. I guess I'm never too late, eh? 😁I blame my job for this loljk

Based from the title of a popular Christmas song, the advent calendar will run for 12 days (December 13-December 24), and a post with a link to the calendar will be made during midnight of each day in my timezone (GMT+8), so the calendar might be too early for some of you. The gifts vary from conversions to object edits and will be only for TS3.

Aside from announcing the upcoming event, I also prepared a gift to officially kick it off. More of it below..

Conversion of the Studio Bakonmi comfort series, and an end table both from the TS2 base game.

2to3 "Studio Bakonmi Deluxe series

These were set of chairs that I loved using when TS2 is still my main game. And while there are a number of conversions that already exist, I reconverted them to my liking. These pretty, modern bum rests now have four channels to fully utilize in CASt and made the textures less dirty. The chair and lounge are both found in Comfort > Living Chairs priced §680 and §830 respectively, while the loveseat costs §770 and found in Comfort > Sofas and Loveseats.

2to3 "Gliteri & Co. Trieste End Table"

Another TS2 item missed dearly, with its peculiar leg design that fits the modern vibe. Has two CASTable channels with the glass top being also recolorable, and has 9 slots. Found in Surfaces > End Tables.

Scarlet Saltbox

Saltbox houses are old old: 18th century colonial folk houses with a lean-to added on along the back to provide a little more living space for cold New England colonists to keep warm indoors. The distinctive roofline resembled the saltboxes used to store (you guessed it) salt back in the day, thus earning the saltbox home its name.

This saltbox features cedar siding, red double-hung windows, and a large central hearth. It has been updated to include modern amenities, including an en suite on the primary bedroom, but is still heavy on the rustic colonial vibes.

This home might be perfect for: starting the decades challenge, simfluencers looking to create tradwife content, your sims' grandparents, or a builder looking to juxtapose historic architecture with a new, hyper modern expansion.

This lot uses a lot of custom content for décor, as it’s intended for players who prefer not to use mods in their game and is mainly for roleplay purposes.

However, for those who don’t mind using mods, I recommend the Shop for Clothes and Shop for Clothing Display Pedestal mods both by Ani or the Boutique mod by phoebejaysims to enhance the bridal boutique experience on the first floor.

If you have the Into the Future expansion pack, you can use the Clothing Pedestal instead and replace the displays around the store or add them in as you like.

The second floor is home to the salon, which features a lot of custom décor. The Hairdresser mod by phoebejaysims is a great addition here and you can swap the chairs for their modded hairdresser's chairs and add a portfolio from them as well.

The third floor is a café, where I placed a food register from the World Adventures expansion pack, along with a chest-like chillbox for those who want to use Ani’s Sell From Inventory mod.

You can also replace the café display or add the Quick Croissants Coffee Bar from the University expansion pack or the Have Coffee With Me mod, for those who don’t have the expansion pack.

I decided not to add a tattoo shop, as it didn’t quite fit the theme I was aiming for with this lot. However, I’ve included an empty space in the basement with a 'for rent' sign so you can add a tattoo shop or create anything you like in this space.

This lot is a bit CC-heavy, as I have used more cc compared to game objects and these are not included on the download file. I’ve compiled a list for those interested in downloading them separately (please click the links above or go to WCIF Navigation page). The Ambitions expansion pack is required for the Salon lot to work in your game but I’m not sure about the others so please take note of the expansion packs with build items listed in the Details section above.
