Oh, this gets my heart tonight. "In the times I had been struggling, I still held space for those who needed me." --- absolutely this. I am trying so hard to learn to be more careful with who I allow close. Because I'm a GIVER, my dudes. I'll drain myself dry for those I love. There will never, ever, EVER be a time that I'm too busy or have too much on my plate and let that = neglecting my people. I will *never* be too busy, if I love you. I'll find a way, whether it's my time, my energy, my hugs, or just my ear to listen. My relationships are intentional//not transactional. I don't care about what I can get out of you. I don't care if you're asking too much. If I choose you//I *got* you. I remind my child of this all the time -- it doesn't matter how much she needs from me. It might be a lot, but it will never be too much. That's how love works, man. 🖤 But, that's WHY I'm trying to learn to be better at being intentional with who I allow in my zone. I know I'm a fiercely loyal little momma bear type: family, friends, relationships. Once you're in, I got you. So, I have to be careful who I let in, in the first place. I seem to struggle with that. Trying to remember that: all people can be good people. But that doesn't mean they're safe people. Red flags can feel like butterflies when all you've ever known is chaos, energy vampires can be stealthy until it's too late, and - maybe some people just change their minds, and stop being who you thought. It's ok to cut those ties too. Because there's nothing more lonely than being alone with someone else. No one else out here is gonna protect me, like me. I know that on this day We celebrate fathers who are doing what they should be doing and I don’t want to take that away from the profound men who has been raised with understanding that role and living with it faithfully and with conviction. I want to also take this opportunity to acknowledge the women who protect their children by not bad mouthing their father in front of them. The women who make excuses for these men to protect their child in hopes one day they would come around because you understand the image that it can create and grow up with your child but most importantly the maturity to understand that your child will grow to learn exactly who those men were and form their own opinion. Thank you #SingleMoms for not complaining, for making a way regardless of the circumstance for receiving less than 50% of equal partnership because no baby was made by one Individual. I acknowledge you on this day because you are the real MVP and Single Moms don’t get enough credit. I was a single mom too before my husband came along and by the grace of God he sent me a husband a loving father who #adopted my child and made her his own, took on the role, step in, and step up! Oh hi there just call me MacGyver 😘 All of my floor cleaning machinery has been breaking down like they've got the seasonal depression too. 2 half-broke vacuums, 3 fully-broke steam mops, then even my heckin' old school style mop bucket got a hole in it. (Side note: is there anyone else but me on this whole earth who remembers that grade school song "There's a Hole in the Bucket Dear Liza, Dear Liza," or just me? Lol.) But tonight with a screwdriver and some cleaner and one paperclip to clean out all the tiny things --- Bam WHAT??!! I fixed it. Kiddo says it's this men's flannel I bought at the Bimart yesterday. That it gave me strong lesbian lumberjack energy so I was actually capable for once. She said it as a compliment, I'm feeling powerful, so whatever. Momma bear.

The first night without both of my babies. My five year old son goes with his dad every now and then. I basically have full custody. If he asks for them I’ll let him see them. And if he doesn’t... well I don’t bother him or force him. We separated when my daughter was two months. She’s been with me every night ever since. It is hard. I want my daughter to have a relationship with her dad. Both of my kids. It just hurts. Not that I have to share my kids with him. They are his as much as mine. It just hurts, to not have them with me at night. They both sleep with me. So to have this bed to myself... I’m lonely. I miss them. Because I always have my kids and never know when he’s going to ask for my son, I’m stressed at times. I never have my alone time. Or a little me time. Something I’m constantly wishing for. And now that I have it, it’s hard to enjoy. I felt anxiety kicking in when he told me he picked her up from daycare. My son has been with him for a week already, since it’s summer. On my way home I prayed. I’m leaving it all in God’s hands. My kids are in good hands. And their dad needs to have a relationship with both of them. Its just a working progress for me. Emotionally.

No school today because it's conference day at EVC. Woke up to my momma calling - she had to go to the ER. They think maybe a reaction to a med? She's doing OK now though. Went to pick up prescriptions. Got us Starbucks holiday drinks WITH SPRINKLES OMG so that took the day up a couple notches. This child argued with me in public that -- this is horrendous -- Rudolph isn't a "real" reindeer, wasn't one of the originals, just worked one night. Blasphemy. I argued back with the energy of the guy and the Wizard of Oz "she came down in a bubble, Doug!!" 🤣🤣🤣 Mom pretended she didn't know us. Then to top it off, this child says "hey mom, look, you can buy these dates since you can't ever get a real one of your own." Lol. She's lucky I'm such a kind and forgiving saint, I tell you. Got momma some extra benadryl and stuff at the Bimart. She's feeling ok but not great. So she went home to rest. She's a national treasure, so send good vibes to protect her. How do you know when your ready to date again?

I have trust issues BIG time. My recent relationship with my kids dad... I thought that was it, the person I’d grow old with. I was in a relationship for 8 years and before that I was 19 with no kids. It’s a whole new ball game. I’m a mother now!

I met this guy 6 months ago. Super sweet. It was a girls night and my girlfriend introduced me to one of her guy friends that was there. Didn’t think much of it. He msged me the next day on IG. Asked me out on a date. I kept stalling, finally 3 months later I finally gave him a chance. We had our first date, kinda. I kept stalling because I didn’t feel ready to date again. I feel like I was finally healing and make progress from my break up a year ago with my ex, the father of my two kids. I told my “friend” I wasn’t ready for a relationship due to my horrible breakup with my kids dad. But if he still wanted to go out to dinner we could “as friends”. So we went. The night turned out great! Better then I thought. Honestly I was impressed. So we went on several dates after that. I would see him once a week, typically in a Saturday for 3 months. One night He mentioned to me he wanted to meet my kids and mom. It would give him the opportunity to see me more and get to know my family. My heart dropped. Something I’m not ready for. I knew this would happen. He’s been single for a while and seemed ready to settle down and I’m not. I felt like I was holding him back from meeting the right person. So I let him go... I feel like a train wreck. Like I’m damaged and have too much issues for someone to deal with. Point blank I’m not ready to trust again. To risk getting my heart broken again. I just don’t know if I’ll regret letting him go. I don’t know if I made the right choice.
