When your fiancé leaves in the morning, you know immediately that he’ll be back before he gets to his car.

He heads off to work and leaves you with your breakfast, but you feel the cold air he lets in when he opens the door—it bites at your nose and leaves your bare feet chilled. Katsuki runs hot; you’ve been with him long enough of the low curses he begins to mutter under his breath about the cold around this time of year.

So when he opens the door again to fetch extra layers, you’re there to greet him.

The gloves come first. You hand them off with a grin—they’re pretty, suede, a birthday present from months prior getting its first use. They look nice on him. That’s all you allow yourself to think, as you watch him tug them on grumpily.

The scarf you wrap around his neck securely yourself. His cheeks are flush, lips pouting, eyes cast to the side the same way his head is turning. He leans in though, and he doesn’t fight when you use the scarf to tug him down and press a kiss to his nose as your other hand takes his to hold.

“All bundled up,” you coo, because he’ll hate it. “My big strong pro hero.”

“Dumbass,” Katsuki mutters under his breath. You giggle and nip at the nose you just kissed, if only to hear him growl in response.

“You’re welcome,” you tell him brightly.

“Fuckin’ insane. Dunno how you can be all cheery in this weather,” he grunts.

“It’s nice. Makes me wanna snuggle up and stay in bed all day…”

A snort. “Yeah. Like you’d ever.”

“If you were with me I would.”

“Nice try.”

He can’t stay, you both know it, so in apology his hand lingers on yours when he pulls away, fingers tracing along your wrist and down your palm before finally disappearing. You can feel the fleeting heat, even though those gloves, as you watch him get into his car and drive off. And if you let your own press against the wrist he’d just touched, savoring it, then that’s for you and the wind to know.
