I do not understand the appeal of this "spooky month." I had seen the term used recently, and inquired with Elizabeth as to what it could mean. Our friend Mrs. Clay explained that it is a celebration of the macabre, and involves making oneself up to look like a monster, and giving out sweets to beggar children who come to your door.
Why on earth would anyone wish to make themselves look more ghastly? There are enough frights and scarecrows walking about on an ordinary day; we certainly do not need an entire month to encourage more of them!

Hey, I had a question. In Persuasion, why couldn't Mary's sons inherit Kellynch Hall? Entailed property goes to the closest male relative right? So why Mr.Elliot and not them?
It must go through the male line, children of daughters need not apply.
Sir Walter has no sons, so the entail goes back up the family tree and looks for his brother or his brother's sons. If there are none living, it goes back up and looks at his uncle and uncle's sons, and so on and so forth.
I have read about cases where daughters successfully challenged entails because there were no direct male heirs to be found, or they were super distant relations, but we know Sir Walter has a fairly close heir in Mr. Elliot (great grandson of the second Sir Walter).
General rules of entails:
The child must be an heir of his body, meaning a genetic child born within legal matrimony
It must go through the male line, so daughters are "dead branches" of the family tree
Not every estate is entailed, but people with titles (baronets and nobility) tended to have entails that passed on both the title and the primary estate or "seat" to the next male heir. Mansfield Park is likely entailed and both the baronetcy and the estate will pass to Tom
People could own land that was not part of the entail (eg. they bought it themselves) and this land could be willed to whomever they wanted. In A Woman of No Importance, a lord talks about how only the primary estate associated with his title is entailed, he can give the rest of his vast holdings to his natural son. Sir Walter also has land that is not part of the entail that he could sell but his pride prevents him from doing so
I hope that helps!
(Also, I read about one case where a member of the nobility accepted his wife's natural child because he had 3 or 4 sons and figured it would be fine. All his genetic sons died and the natural child got the title, but it was too late to disavow him by then!)

I’ve had this brain worm stuck in my head for a while. This is basically Knight!Wally or Fate Servant!Wally.
Basic facts
Name: Sir Walter, or Wally by close friends and loved ones
Age: 21 (same as canon)
Height: 6” feet (twice as tall as canon)
Servant Class: Saber
Type: Heroic Spirit
Hobbies: Swordsmanship, Painting, Drawing, ancient rune spell castings
Personality: Dutiful, Loyal, Strong willed, Altruistic, Serious, Strategic in battle
He doesn’t really show his more silly and playful side until he bonds more with his master. Even then, it’s hard for him to let his guard down because he had horrible experiences with previous masters who summoned him in past Holy Grail Wars. They often took advantage of him and stole his mana for selfish reasons. However, Y/N has been really kind to him, and he has sworn to protect his new master no matter the cost. He will do anything to help his master in the next Holy Grail War.
Original concept for Wally Darling is by @partycoffin , original creator of Welcome Home!

Your Sir Walter gives me so much joy!!!!!♥️🤣
Haha thank you! I am probably not the best person to be masquerading as him online so I'm glad it's at least amusing to some folks! It's amusing to myself, if nothing else.

Colin Firth as Sir Walter... and he's bi... I...
a Thought: Sir Walter Elliot's constant focus on the appearance of literally everyone he interacts with is partly because he's vain but partly because he's super duper bi
Much as I hate having to claim him as One of Us...yeah, I can see it.
And in the world where I get the Persuasion adaptation I deserve with Colin Firth playing Sir Walter, that’s absolutely the sole direction he’d be given.

May I ask, sir, what is your favourite mirror out of every single mirror you own?
Oh! This is like trying to ask a parent which child is their favourite! They each have their own unique delights that make them all so very dear to me.
The small silver one that I keep on the table beside my bed is quite enjoyable since I can hold it in my hands to look upon my face while still lying in bed, at any moment that the fancy strikes.
The large mahogany framed looking glass in my dressing area is excellent at allowing me to see my entire person at once in its reflection.
But then again, so is the second mirror in my dressing area, and its glass is so very clear, which highlights my flawless skin so perfectly.
I do very much like the golden framed mirror that is hung near the front door. It is such a comforting welcome to be able to look upon myself as soon as I enter my abode, especially if I have been out for several hours without any ability to see my reflection during that time.
Ah, but I could go on and on about all of my dear looking glasses! A favourite—no, impossible!
(Incidentally, my favourite child is Elizabeth.)

I think Walter loved Logan, just disappointed in his actions.
Like in the intro of the game he tried to talk Logan down from executing the rioters. He didn’t yell or lay hands on him, he just seemed shocked.
Hello I have once again upset myself thinking about Logan an the effect Aurora had on him and his relationships.
Walter is a father figure to him and HOBW and their relationship is in TATTERS, and as far as canon shows, it's never mended.
Does Logan believe the man who raised his sibling and took care of him after Sparrows death died hating him? Does he believe Walter only saws the bad in him? Does it have any impact on his decision to go into his self-imposed exile? Does he regret not telling Walter about what happened to him in Aurora soonee??
Did he and Walter ever have a chance to reconcile, to speak of what happened to them on their respective trips to Aurora? Did he ever express regret for Logan feeling as if he couldn't speak of what happened to him?
Did Walter ever embrace Logan as one of his own again, or did they stay away because of their history?

Was brown hair more popular than blond, so Sir Walter Elliot thought he was superior with his not-sandy hair?
I don't know exactly what sort of beauty was the most popular during the Regency (Mary Crawford makes a crazy comment about how Fanny's eyes should be darker, like how?) But I have a few thoughts about this line.
Many people assume based on this line that Sir Walter is blonde:
A few years before, Anne Elliot had been a very pretty girl, but her bloom had vanished early; and as even in its height, her father had found little to admire in her, (so totally different were her delicate features and mild dark eyes from his own),
but we don't even get a hair colour and I think the emphasis is on "delicate" and "mild", not "dark."
Based on the line you cited, it's unlikely that Sir Walter or Elizabeth are blonde:
He had never walked anywhere arm-in-arm with Colonel Wallis (who was a fine military figure, though sandy-haired) without observing that every woman’s eye was upon him; every woman’s eye was sure to be upon Colonel Wallis.” Modest Sir Walter! He was not allowed to escape, however. His daughter and Mrs Clay united in hinting that Colonel Wallis’s companion might have as good a figure as Colonel Wallis, and certainly was not sandy-haired
Now sandy-haired likely means blonde, I guess it could mean dirty-blonde (a mix of blonde and brown). This implies that blonde is negative and Sir Walter is a brunette, which is better. However, since Sir Walter does judge a bit by what he is, he might think brunette is better because he is that and not because of general opinion.
As a side note, I do think Sir Walter is a good judge of beauty, his assessments align with what other characters and the narrator says, I just think he may also value traits he has above others.

I love the Adventure Time reference.
Can we talk about how Ben Finn gets bullied rent free by Walter Beck almost everytime they interact? I decided to draw something accurate.
[For legal reasons thats a joke. Whole post is a joke]
