Aaaaand the newest problem in my diy six of crows spinoff script is
 drumroll pleaseeee
No Per Haskell = no 20% cut = 5 million kruge each = no money for Rotty and Specht
So, in summary *screams*
Current plan: find a way to write Haskell back in, I’m thinking he brokered some kind of deal with Kaz to remain partially involved in the Dregs, therefore still making all of this possible and making it possible for him and the Dregs to still betray Kaz in Crooked Kingdom
Do we think this could work??
I feel like I keep promising you guys more script and then being like ‘oh wait, another delay’ but I promise as soon as I finish episode one it’s going up (I’m on scene eight, and scene eight is chapter 4. To be entirely fair part of chapter 4 was also in scene four but most of it is about to be in scene 8. I’m very bad at cutting things this script would be way too long for actual use lol)

Listen I’m slightly sleep deprived and generally my thoughts are untrustworthy in this situation, but what if we, the grishaverse fandom, tried to find a hacker and convince them to hack and release the scripts for the soc spinnoff from Netflix’s archives
 like. Just a thought

just putting it out there that i could read every single script of every episode of the six of crows spinoff, find out every single piece of information about it beforehand and STILL watch every episode multiple times if they still decide to make it
just jot that down netflix and whoever else can still make that show happen in case you dont already damn well know how dedicated the fanbase is

since Leigh Bardugo, Six Of Crows and Shadow And Bone are trending i want to once again make it everyone’s business that the cancellation of Shadow And Bone still makes me so fucking mad. It makes no sense. And the SOC spinoff scripts are already written and are just sitting somewhere. We need it back. We, the cast, crew and everyone who worked on that show deserve it

I can't believe Netflix killed my six of crows spinoff and also broke into my home and shot me in the foot. Or at least that's what it felt like
life would be so much better if we got that six of crows spin off

The kickstarter to get a billboard in protest of the Shadow and Bone/Six of Crows cancellations is up now!
We are first focusing on the spinoff since the script is already written.
If everyone who signed the petition donated just one dollar, we would far exceed our goal.
Never stop fighting!

Save the Grishaverse Campaign Overview
Hello! By now you have probably seen our posts floating around - but what exactly is going on? What's the 'Save Shadow and Bone' campaign, and how can I help?
Well ask no more - here is the master post to answer those questions!
Tumblr media
Firstly, let's talk about the what. If you didn't know, the Netflix original Shadow and Bone was announced to have been cancelled after two seasons, followed by another announcement that the proposed Six of Crows Spinoff would be scrapped as well. The thing is, Netflix had paid for the scripts to be drafted for the SoC Spinoff already! What's more, it seems mighty suspicious that the showrunner Eric Heisserer was a big part of the recent WGA Strike coordination for Netflix, and all the writers were very vocal about their support of the WGA strike, and only after the strike was over did Netflix announce the cancellation of the Grishaverse related show and spinoff.
Now to be clear, we are not saying that there is any sort of big conspiracy afoot, but boy does it feel like it. The Grishaverse has a huge fan-base, the cast was extremely passionate about continuing their work, and yet the show was cancelled without warning. Allegedly, some of the actors found out through Leigh Bardugo's announcement post - and not from Netflix directly! So, fans got together and decided that no, actually, we weren't going to stand for that.
Thus, the Save Shadow and Bone' campaign was born. But what are we doing exactly? Well, let's discuss!
Firstly, we've been organizing Twitter parties to keep the discussion of the Grishaverse trending! Already we've been trending a majority of the days we've been at it, and this is only the tip of the iceberg. We have so many more fun days planned, so keep an eye out!
We also have a petition! As of writing this, it's exceeded 170,000 signatures and we've been told by the Change.org devs that if it hits 200,000 it will be featured on the home page of the website! It's been growing incredibly fast - keep spreading it around!
We also have a letters to Netflix campaign running with hundreds of letters already prepared to mail directly to Netflix's offices! We even have a tutorial on origami crows provided so we can flood the offices with paper crows! Again, for more information on how to get involved and where exactly to address these letters to, consider joining our discord for concise information.
We've also been organizing Watch Parties to keep the show trending on Netflix's end, as this is what we've confirmed they'll be paying attention to. These 'watch parties' are encouraged to be fun events, whether they become irl parties for friends or online liveblogging/livetweeting events. The goal of this is to keep the show relevant to Netflix's audiences!
We've been reaching out to news outlets and have made contacts with several magazines already, and the world is watching. This is not just about our favorite show being canceled anymore - the way intellectual properties have been treated by these mega corporations has gotten wildly out of hand, and we want to show that audiences are tired of this cutthroat attitude to media onscreen.
Here is the link to our linktree for all of our social medias, the discord we have that is open to join, and access to our fanmade newscast Brekkin' News for updates on what's going on!

SIX OF CROWS Spinoff reel
Shared by "Shadow and Bone" Netflix showrunner Eric Heisserer on Reddit, here's a "Six Of Crows" pitch reel.
Earlier this month, Netflix has cancelled "Shadow and Bone" season 3 and scrapped this highly anticipated "Six Of Crows" spinoff, despite scripts being written and ready to go into production for a year.
Help the Grishaverse fandoom make it happen anyway.
1. Sign the petition on Change.org:
"SAVE Shadow and Bone!!!"
In just 3 days we've gathered over 100k signatures, and Eric let us know it have made an impression, so help us keep up the momentum and gather more.
2. Donate to the Kickstarter fundraiser:
SAVE THE CROWS - SAVE SHADOW AND BONE!
We plan to launch a billboard campaign in LA and with more funds we intend to spread it to other cities across the world.
For info check @savethegrishaverse and @freddycarterus here, or @/savethegrisha on X/twitter
3. Watch "SHADOW AND BONE" on Netflix
and request "Shadow and Bone Season 3" and "Six Of Crows spinoff" on the Netflix title request form:

Update on the Crows’ ages in my diy Soc script situation:
The poll came out in favour of book canon ages, but it was a close thing! The plan is to go with this since it’s what you guys voted for at least for now, but I might end up changing my mind if it becomes complicated to keep it faithful to both show and book canon because of this. Thanks so much to everyone who voted!! I’m hoping to start posting the script on both ao3 and tumblr some time soon, and I did share some of the first few scenes on tumblr a while ago so you can check those out if you’re interested <33

Netflix has cancelled Shadow and Bone, what do I do now?
Don't lose hope! It's not the end yet. There's still time for action, and very easy for all of us:
1. If you feel mad, disappointed or sad because we aren't getting closure for Shadow and Bone/Six of Crows, sign the petition. It just takes two clicks. Share the petition too. Get it to as many people to sign.
2. Go on twitter and make #SaveShadowAndBone trend. What could happen is other platforms or streamers will see this: a great series dropped by Netflix that has a big following and traction and they could potentially pick it up. It's happened before. Use company greed to our advantage because big following = big money.
3. We need fan traction in general. Make posts about what you loved about Shadow and Bone. Share here, on twitter, instagram, wherever there is official Netflix presence. Do not send hate to actors, writers, stagers, or directors. Show them your support. Share their posts about the show too, if they make any!
This is a Netflix executive problem, so it's best to uplift the people that were there on set making this project for us and who were so excited to continue with scripts for Season 3 and Spinoff ready to go. Show them we're here!

Help us save Six of Crows!
DONATE ONLY $1 TO HELP US REACH OUR GOAL! WE ARE GOING TO DO A BILLBOARD FOR SAB TOO!
On November 15th, Netflix announced its cancellation of the Six of Crows project, an adaptation of Leigh Bardugo’s beloved Grishaverse duology. Since then, there has been an outpour of grief and heartbreak online from thousands of fans, begging for a reversal.
The novel Six of Crows was first published 8 years ago, gaining critical acclaim and a massive fanbase. Over the years, its numbers have only grown. First appearing on screen in Shadow and Bone, the Crows rapidly became favorites among critics and fans alike. The fandom’s love for the ragtag crew from Ketterdam was so significant and well-known that the show diverges from the book’s canon to include them. When showrunner Eric Heisserer announced in March that a Six of Crows spinoff was in the works the fandom rejoiced, but since being canceled, the fandom's joy quickly turned into dismay and uproar.
With scripts already written, an immensely talented group of people both in front of and behind the camera more than ready to work, and a massive fanbase, it’s baffling that Netflix would choose not to go forward with the project. However, the Grishaverse fandom refuses to accept this fate.
We refuse to accept that we will never see Inej Ghafa’s empowering backstory, the beautiful love story of Matthias and Nina, the dozens of famous lines that make us weep, or a single scene with all of our beloved Crows together.
We have organized this Kickstarter campaign to show Netflix that we reject this abrupt and heartbreaking end. For the cast, for the crew, for all of us that love this world and these characters, we will fight to see this story on screen.
Donations to this Kickstarter will be put towards the renting of a large billboard in Los Angeles demanding Netflix’s action in saving the Six of Crows series. If sufficiently funded, we plan to expand the campaign to other locations to further demonstrate our commitment.
As exact details will partially depend on the success of this fundraiser, more information about the specific address and duration of the billboard(s) rental will come soon. For questions, keep an eye on this webpage or follow @freddybrekker on X for updates.
It is our hope that Netflix will be forced to listen to the fandom’s dedication to this series as well as our outrage at its cancellation. For our cause to be successful, we must be impossible to ignore.
Finally, we will leave you with words from our brilliant, dedicated and beloved cast of Crows.
“I feel like the fans, myself included, have been really looking forward to seeing the Six of Crows storyline come to life. It's just so, so cinematic, that storyline
It would be heartbreaking to get this close and then not get to see all six of them together." Freddy Carter
“I haven't had the same luxury of Inej's backstory yet, and I think they're saving that. I'm really, really glad that they are. I know the payoff for this, if it does happen, is gonna be absolutely an emotional wreck but in the most beautiful, exciting and exhilarating way.” Amita Suman
“I’m heartbroken by the idea that we won’t be able to finish what we started
I desperately wished to go further, and believe me those plans are special
The patience I’ve carried for that dream these past years has been beating in me like a slow steady drum, and yesterday it paused for the first time.” Calahan Skogman
"[Nina has] helped many people like me to love, like, and accept myself. I tried to stay true to her character.” Danielle Galligan
“Growing up, I didn’t see that many characters like myself who were in big fantasy series, with violence or [who] even had access to fantasy weapons or got involved in big fights and battles
I think to see a character like myself in those situations is a really cool thing, it’s something that I actually don’t see often.” Jack Wolfe
"I think that I can speak for everyone here when we all really care about doing it well, and we are invested in its success
I think hopefully what you see is something that we are already proud of because we’ve put our blood, sweat, and tears into it. And it’s just a joy to do. So wherever it can go next, if we get the chance to keep going, then you know, we’re all game, we’re all excited to do it." Kit Young
#SaveTheCrows #SaveShadowandBone
“Because that’s what we do. We never stop fighting.”
“Because that's what we do. We never stop fighting.” -  Kaz Brekker, Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo

Aside from news on how things possibly stand for a Shadow and Bone/Six Of Crows renewal (basically no news is good news, keep going with the campaign!) there's also a short interview with Eric Heisserer, which sheds some interesting light indeed on the writing and making of Season Two, and it explains a lot of things:
Here are the questions posed for Eric's interview:
"I'd like to know if there's a way to liberate the pre-written scripts if Netflix doesn't plan on using them" - Christian Thalmann (creator of the Fjerdan language)
"In my view, 'The Crows' have the potential to revitalize the Grishaverse. Unlike "Shadow and Bone", this new show could rely less on elaborate visual effects and offer a fresh narrative angle. Heist-themed shows are currently in high demand, adding to its appeal. Am I mistaken in thinking that our focus should primarily be on 'The Crows'? The likelihood of 'Shadow and Bone' returning seems slim, but I've always believed that 'The Crows' had a greater change of success." - Joleen
"If/when the spinoff is back (finger crossed) was there anything he had planned that would completely surprised, for good reasons obviously, the audience? And we should hold our breath for that twist/turn??" - Rti
"What are the difficulties you mentioned about filming S2 in that Reddit comment? Don't want to sound negative, but what went wrong?!" - Mitra
"How long was the sizzle reel ready to go but he had to keep it secret?" - Discord Team
"I would love to know his perspective on the impact of streaming on storytelling. Would we have had to launch a campaign like this 10-15 years ago for a show like this? What are the main points when it comes to streaming models and telling unique, diverse stories?" - Acorn_Bri
Eric's Responses:
1) "There is a way to liberate the Crows scripts from Netflix, yes, and in fact that would be part of the buyout for another streamer when acquiring the rights to Leigh's novels. It would be a package deal."
2) "The focus on the Crows is helpful in two ways -- first, those scripts were written, which lets us get a running start at production, and second, just from casual analysis of book sales, it's far more popular worldwide than other Grishaverse titles. So it will be a bigger draw for viewers. The trap though is the cost. It's more grounded than S&B, sure, but the Ice Court is a unique location that either requires a really costly set build, or set extensions and VFX work to make it look authentic, which means nearly every shot of the heist once our crew gets there could be a VFX shot. My guess is the budget would be on par with S2 of S&B.
3) "Yes, there is a surprise or two in the Crows spinoff season, but overall it's as close to the novel as we could make it. And Leigh's novel is such an amazing story with natural cliffhangers that work as episode "out" moments, etc. I think the biggest move we made was to feature every single Crow's backstory to go with their episode. So that was fun/sad/exciting."
4) S2 kept throwing challenges at us, and it started long before we got to production. Like months earlier, when we learned the location we needed for the Little Palace in S1 was closed to us due to the pandemic. So right there we lost out on a ton of S&S scenes, because it wouldn't be a match. But we also had written a compelling side arc for Ivan and Fedyor in S2, these two Grisha trapped on either side of the civil war. Each of them played a big role in the story, but Simon (Ivan) had a feature film that overlapped with our schedule and couldn't move, which meant we lost him. So Daegan worked to revise the season keeping Fedyor and leaving Ivan like dead from the end of S1. He was Kirigan's right-hand man for the season. But poor Julian caught COVID just when we were to shoot out most of his scenes, and after tyring to ake the schedule work, we had to come to the brutal truth that there wasn't a way to keep Fedyor in the story. Our only option was to bring him in at like episode 8, which would've been too little, too late.
COVID continued to be a monster all through production, requiring us to juggle schedules and miss out on days, and it was madness for the cast, who had to pivot with almost no notice whenever someone was ill and quarantined. This isn't unique to our show of course---it happened with everyone. It's just the challenge.
Beyond that, we had been given the go to write a special standalone story: The Demon in the Wood. This would have been released on its own around Christmas, like a BBC special but for Netflix, and would help bridge seasons 1 and 2 by showing a little of what Kirigan was doing before we seem him in S2, and also provide more character context, etc. Christina Strain wrote that and did great work adapting Leigh's short story. But it never went the distance.
There was a lot more to S2 as well, scenes and side stories and little interactions that were lost due to budget or time restrictions. Again, not unique to our show, but agonizing all the same, since what you get is not what we had written, or in some cases even shot. I'm incredibly proud of the cast and the team, and Daegan did the heaviest lifting while I was off finishing the Crows writing room. But we had a lot more thrown at us."
5) That sizzle reel was put together four months before the second season dropped.
6) Streaming is a challenge to serialized storytelling in that it looks at 'content' often with a different agenda and uses metrics that can take a creative issue and exacerbate it. Like in broadcast, if viewership and thus ad revenue has slightly declined, the show will ned to find a way to make their 22 or 13 episodes on a proportionally smaller budget. What is not done is reduce episode order. But if a streaming series underperforms or doesn't meet expectations, an the streamer doesn't cancel it outright, the go-to budget reduction idea is to reduce episode order for the next season. When you just have 8 episodes and continue to deal with notes to compress, pace up, or omit for what you'd scripted for a longer season, reducing further to six or four episodes is exhausting.
This happens due to a slide in autonomy from what the showrunner position has been. What the chatter on the picket lines revealed to us is that most showrunners today don't get to see their own show's budget, and thus don't get the freedom to make budgetary decisions that could better protect the story they're telling. More and more, showrunners not at a legacy network aren't the final say or at times even involved in hiring key roles. I don't have any ideas that aren't already in contract language, I just see how the job on this side has gotten harder and there isn't much of a way for us to make it easier for each other like we could with having writers on set or in post production, because the streaming model has made that impossible."

i’m not going to stop fighting for shadow and bone & the six of crows spinoff. having not one but TWO prominent characters who are brown women and who are unbelievably strong is something i will cherish forever. and the fact that inej’s backstory was going to be explored in an episode written by an indian woman, that the grishaverse gave us queer rep that isn’t just two white gay boys, and queer characters being able to exist without their whole character arcs being about homophobia or coming out. and the audacity of netflix to try and use the writers as scapegoats by claiming that the writers’ strike is the reason why they’re cancelling s&b. the scripts are WRITTEN, but i don’t care if season 3 would’ve been delayed for another year or so. i would have waited. i waited since the initial announcement of the cast in 2019. netflix continues to increase their prices while fucking over their viewers. corporate greed and capitalism kill art.

Please consider signing this petition after the cancellation of Shadow and Bone season 3 AND the Six of Crows spinoff.
After waiting months and months for the Six of Crows spinoff I am devastated. They have the perfect cast and a script already written, but Netflix would rather hoard it in the dark forever (legally they own it so the writers cannot release the script).
I love these characters and this story, and I have been waiting for this for so long that I am absolutely not about to let this go.
It may not seem like much, but it is one of few methods to have our voices heard. Make some noise on your socials! Also, now is the time to stream- rope your friends/families into pity-watching it
