Third Army we need you! Cancelled Sci Fi is holding a poll about which TV shows are most deserving of renewal. They will share the poll results with the streaming networks and this boosts the chances of renewal. They also host pages for fan run campaigns to save shows and we are currently working on a summary of our actions in order to request such a page. The only problem is that Shadow and Bone is not listed in the poll as of yet, so we need you to request that Shadow and Bone be added to the poll at the following link:

You know what makes Kaz a great boss? What makes him a better boss then both Pekka Rollins and Per Haskel?
He gets to know his crew and basically any people he’s working with. I know it’s basically an opposite of what he says about barrel gangs, but hear me out.
The main reason why Kaz was able to know that Big Bolliger was a traitor is because he knew that Bol was lazy. And knowing what he did in the "Crow club" it would be hard to know if he was lazy or just relaxed while on the job. Kaz knew that he was lazy - he took time to know the guy.
And also the thing that makes Kaz's plans good is that he keeps in mind all his crew's bad habits and vulnerabilities and plots around them. Its really easy to see that if you look at Jesper.
He keeps in mind that Jesper is late and that he can accidentally give up important info. We see that clearly in the beginning of the book. During the “set the wolf free” plan he made sure to tell Jesper the “wrong” time so that he would “be late” and free the animals at the right time. He knew Jesper would(or could) give up info by accident so he took precautions(saying this again: no one arranges an extra ship just to gather in front of it)
And we also have it in the end of CK.
I think both Inej and Jesper had been told the wrong time. Kaz knew that Dunyasha would be there, so he added some time for Inej to fight her. He talks with Jesper about kergud(I have no idea how to spell that, sorry) and also adds time for that fight. He might have actually putted the wyvil it Jespers pocket(as I do not remember Jes actually putting it there, or mb he just made sure it was there).
I mean, it would have been weird if there would be just the sound of one shot fired, but after the siren it would sound better.
When Kaz told Dregs that he won't be their father, he meant it, your father doesn't know you that well, but your sneaky annoying little sibling does.

I so often think about what the tone of scene with the backless book would have looked like in the Six of Crows spin off.
In Six of Crows, when the crew arrive in Djerholm they go to an Inn and sit on the terrace to give them a clear, if distant, view of the road that leads to the Ice Court, and Kaz uses a device he calls a 'backless book' to see the prison wagon on the road with perfect clarity - it looks like a perfeclty normal book until you hold it open on a specific page at a specific angle. He passes the book around without telling anyone that it is actually a mirrored lens so that no-one else on the terrace will know what they're talking about, and when Wylan is offered the book by Jesper he initially refuses to take it. He asks 'What does it say?' and Jesper replies 'Just look'. In this scene everyone, including the reader, is yet to learn that Wylan cannot read and therefore this line doesn't have any particular impact on us in the moment, except as a continuation of the idea that Wylan feels uncomfortable and that the others tend to be impatient with him for the way he doesn't fit into their world. But imagine what this scene would look like with the added subtext that Jesper already knows he can't read but the others don't! AND the added subtext they already have an established relationship!!
Imagine the panic in Wylan's eyes slowly growing as the book moves round the group, imagine the hesitation in his voice as he asks Jesper what it says, imagine Jesper softening his voice to reassure him as he gently tells him that he just has to look.
And on this same vein, imagine Jesper beginning to piece together why Wylan 'left' his father's house early on. Imagine Jesper standing on the deck of the Ferolind with Inej as she quietly tells him that Van Eck writes to Wylan every week and Wylan doesn't even open the letters, the way she'd study him as she noticed that he knew something more than her but would never pry. Imagine the way the tone would change for when Wylan is drawing the maps of the Ice Court and says he hasn’t labelled anything because he doesn’t know Fjerdan, despite the fact that he’s already revealed he speaks Fjerdan - in the book no-one questions it and I think that’s partly due to Jesper mocking him and saying that he probably doesn’t speak it well (it’s confirmed later that he does) and partly due to the way he doesn’t fit in and the others aren’t really paying him much attention; it’s a brief moment the reader doesn’t put much stock into until they find out that Wylan can’t read at the end of the book. The added dimension of us already having that subtext would have been absolutely fascinating and I am so so upset we don’t get to see it play out, especially since we would probably have a lot of Wesper angst going on as well - I’m imaging the way Wylan would fear Jesper ratting him out or turning on him because he lied to him and being so shocked that he doesn’t and just not understanding the way he still cares about him or that he would still protect him because he doesn’t know what it feels like to be loved I’m gonna cry

We have it on good authority that Netflix pays attention to submissions through their Title Request Form, so let’s tell them what we want! Fill it out by requesting the following:
> - Shadow and Bone Season 3
> - Six of Crows Spin-Off
We’re not aware of any limit to how many times you can submit the form, and no Netflix login is required to participate. Let's show Netflix the demand for these incredible shows, and let’s make our voices heard together!

When Inej is away, Kaz visits the Van Eck mansion almost daily. He's bored and lonely, but wouldn't admit it to anyone. And at some point, he finds Alys there.
Wylan thought it might be good for his mother to talk to someone, and Alys is the only person for that - that comes to his mind. He would've asked Inej or Nina, but both of them are away, and Matthias, who would've been a good choice too, is very far away.
Both Wylan and Jesper are away, so Kaz, not wanting to go back to Slat and his boring papers, sits there and at some point joins the conversation. Marya and Alys were talking about children and their hobbies, at some point Kaz feared Alys might start singing. Well, Kaz didn’t really join in, truth is, at some point, Maria simply began asking him questions and explaining some things that Alice, in theory, should have known.
And eventually, after the shock had settled, Kaz really joined in. Both women were telling him all the tea they knew, and Kaz became an expert in Ketterdam's high-class rumors and scandals. He knows why a merchant's wife attending a ball in the same dress she wore before is scandalous. Why young ladies cannot be in the same room as gentlemen alone. Why men calling off an engagement is a scandal, but a woman doing the same is fine.
At some point Kaz visits them almost every time Alys and Marya meet for tea. And they do it every week.
Sometimes Alys brings her dog, and Kaz tries to train it. Marya offers whistle but both Kaz and Wylan protest against it. Wylan because he doesn’t want to have a headache every time Alys and the dog are visiting, and Kaz because he doesn’t want the dog to be manipulated as easily as Smits dogs were.
Eventually the dog, a little Pomeranian, is trained. And Kaz to everyone’s surprise makes it do tricks and sometimes puts on a little act with the dog. He makes it jump through fire, disappear in a hat and appear later with a rose in his teeth.
The dog adores Kaz and Kaz adores the dog. Sometimes Wylan thinks that Kaz visits just to see the dog.

locklyle/ kanej parallels are gonna be the death of me.
"I spoke softly now. “It’s me. It’s Lucy....” I like to think it was just coincidence that Holly laid the silver net over the Source right then. I like to think it was the sound of my name that brought him back. Who’s going to tell me otherwise? Either way, the twist of smoke rose up and up, and bloomed across the surface of his eyes. Intelligence came with it; intelligence and recognition—and something more than that. He smiled at me."
AND
"He felt a twinge in his chest, and with a disturbing jolt, he realized it was panic. She’d been the one to wake him from his stupor in the cart. Her voice had brought him back from the dark; it had been the tether he gripped and used to drag himself back to some semblance of sanity."

So, I did a post about Netflix in honour of #renewshadowandbone day. Thought I'd bring it here.
Remember to sign and share the petition! You can look it up as "Save Shadow and Bone". Also, remember to follow the savethegrishaverse account to hear all about the campaign!

Onto the post:
Netflix has gone under a series of changes lately.
One of them is the Extra Member policy, in which one account can't be used by people who aren't members of a household. If you want to allow access to someone that doesn't live in your household, you have to pay an extra fee (currently in places like the US).
Okay, so Netflix wants to stay relevant and make more money. What are they doing with it?
As of late, we've all seen Netflix focusing in new markets (i.e. the release of new reality shows and games)
Especially considering the amount of competition Netflix has nowadays, this is clever. And sure, they've been known to release good content once in a while (like Society of the Snow or The Umbrella Academy).
But then, we have content like Love is Blind, which has caused a lot of controversy with the several allegations that the cast is forced to filmed under the influence of alcohol, that they are underfed and that the whole thing is very detrimental to their mental health.
Another thing is that many of Netflix's most popular shows are ending in 2024-2025. The Umbrella Academy, Stranger Things and One Piece, to name a few (and all of them relatively expensive if we take into account their production costs).
Of course, Netflix has new content on its way (like the fantastic Greta Gerwig's Narnia) but the thing is, the number of shows that are cancelled after its second season is astoundingly high so, what does that mean for the viewer's trust in Netflix new material? That we're going to get new shows only to have them cancelled? That the only ones they're going to see through are the realities? I for one, am hesitant to trust this.
Netflix argued that the increase of fees, the change of their policy when it comes to shared accounts and even the introduction of ads would serve for development of new content. I would argue that a better use would be finishing the shows they've already released, like Shadow and Bone. With an established fanbase, finished script for a Spin-off, a lot of source material and even an Emmy nomination, it's really a no-brainer.
Netflix, finish what you start. First in the agenda: #renewshadowandbone.
