This wtfock new gen series came out of nowhere. I don’t think they had this planned following Yasmina’s season. The lengthy period, many fans left, the timing feels off. I wonder if the company behind the production is that desperate? I haven’t been following closely but I believe they haven’t had a hit like wtfock in ages. Even that series with Nora Dari right after S5 was virtually ignored.

So a fan who used to be on tumblr but isnt anymore asked Veerle about a new gen at the end of yasmina's season. Veerle confirmed that it was possible for wtfock to newgen but at the time it didnt seem they had any plans and to be fair I could see the company not telling the actors because the show was so dear to them (I mean they cried filming the beach party scene) so I assume production didnt even give them a hint of a new gen happening.

I think the whole thing is a combination of alot of outside factors. So firstly some of their investments (shows) didnt do so well like Nora's show. Nathan's show 2DEZIT seems to be doing okay. Its not like a off the wall hit but it seems to be doing okay. Mesjes I think is still going and so clearly wtfock provided the gap in retaining a teen audience. Like mesjes is for the kid to preteen audience. 2DEZIT is young adults to adults. Not having wtfock around just created a huge gap where they weren't capturing the teen audience. Also they could graduate this gen into nathans show too(we know this because skamfr told us they considered a college spin off with their newgen so its possible) because new gens are free reign no rules. Also whether we like it or not remakes do really well. I mean skam italia was a Netflix no.1. THATS MASSIVE!! I just think sputnik needed a guaranteed hit and they knew that wtfock could be the cash cow for that and they have the infrastructure to now keep these characters going for years......

im actually surprised none of the old gen is showing up this season esp at the end because i doubt skamfr is renewed so at least a final glimpse of them would make sense in my eyes but alas

i mean theme wise, if anyone were to make a cameo like eliott’s (like there for a specific reason not just fan service) i feel like the only one that’d make sense is manon? everything else would just feel forced imo, and not rly fit with the tone? although that’s how i feel about any celebratory happy ending shsjsks how the hell are we supposed to go from ten weeks of trauma to a graduation party. but tbh i just can’t relate in general bc i really don’t care much about the old gen and i think s5/6’s finales are like, way better, more emotional send offs than anything deborah & shirley have done lmao

with that being said if there are old gen appearances in the finale (i just have a #feeling the s10 last clip will parallel s6’s and la mif will go back to the hippodrome to watch redouane’s documentary 💀), i don’t think they’d spoil that by putting it in the credits. so i guess we’ll see.

About Skam Italia. My impression (from Italy) is that season 5 went well between people off target, but it got at best lukewarm reactions from fans. So no one is gonna ask for another season. Also, idk, I think you can tell Besse didn't really want to write season 5 either—it felt dull and halfhearted somehow

Oh i disagree i think he wanted to write s5 but I would have preferred he directed it because I felt like the weaving of the SA storyline and how Elia's views of sexuality and desire wasnt as cleanly woven as as he wanted it to be. Like I get what they wanted to do it just didnt feel like it was a perfect hit. I def dont think its an awful or even bad season I just felt like it lacked some pazazz. I was pretty shocked it hit no.1 on italian netflix like damn....... who knew people went that hard for skam italia. Particularly because it went through the madness of losing its network between s3-s4 and two years between s4-s5 so i was like aside from us diehards who cares??? but boy was i wrong. The italians went hard on our little skamverse that we love so much. But I was also shocked when skamfr announce s9/10 I was like damn these franchise are crazy 10 season of skamfr is pure madness.

honestly i’m really looking forward to see more moments of Arthur with the gang, but especially his friendship with Basile (which is not something I’d ever thought I’d say, wow)

the more we get to know about Arthur, the more he is very much the opposite of Basile. Basile is this cheerful doofus who can’t seem to think before he talks but also obviously has a lot of love to give, he’s spontaneous and earnest with his affections. I also feel like he comes from a big, messy and very loving family. Meanwhile Arthur is perpetually guarded, sarcastic, snappy, controlled and self aware, obviously he withholds a lot, in the previous seasons he acts as Basile’s “social consciousness” trying to keep him from embarassing himself, but there are also times when it comes over as too much - for instance during the foyer clip at the end of s3 when Arthur tries to stop Basile from clapping but Basile still does it and then everyone joins and it’s this beautiful rallying moment. So this also makes me understand why Arthur cares for Basile so much and is his hype man and must like spending time with him - from what I can sense from his family they put a lot of pressure on him to fit the mold they have in mind, well his father mostly - so it must be so relaxing to be around Basile. And even though Arthur is, at a glance much ‘cooler’ than Basile I bet he envies and admires Basile a little too, and that Basile’s generous energy is going to be very good for him this season (with bonus cool wacky Basile’s grandpa ?). Anyway I am so ready for this season to unleash the Power of Friendship TM

i love how eliott is getting along so well with their group. i love how everyone is so much more accepting towards him. and i love how proud lucas has become. just to think that earlier he didn't even know who he was to dancing in the open with his boyfriend in front of everyone—i stan character development. i love seeing them all happy and smiley—im honestly crying:'))))
