A Brother's Grief.

A Transformers Sideswipe Centric Fanfiction Based on Dark of the Moon's deleted Skids and Mudflap death scene featured in the novel and comic adaptations.

Sideswipe was jealous of the twin brothers known as Skids and Mudflap. They still had each other while Sideswipe was missing his own twin, Sunstreaker. Sideswipe was annoyed by the small twins because it reminded him of when he and his twin were together.

Despite their fights, the small twins had the brotherly bond that Sideswipe and Sunstreaker had. Again, Sideswipe was jealous of the small twins. But now, he wishes he wasn't. Because now…

They're gone.

Skids and Mudflap, the twins who always bickered, the twins who fooled around, the twins who still had each other…. were now nothing but rusted and lifeless pieces of scrap metal.

It started when the autobots discovered Optimus Prime's long lost mentor Sentinel Prime in stasis on earth's moon and re-awoke him. Unfortunately, he wasn't what they hoped he'd be. It turned out that he made a deal with the decepticons' leader Megatron for the sake of the survival of their home planet, Cybertron.

After Sentinel revealed the deal, he killed Ironhide. Bumblebee was next, but Skids took the shot for him. Mudflap, filled with grief and rage over the death of his twin, fought Sentinel to avenge him and give everyone time to escape thus he also lost his life.

It was bad enough that Sideswipe lost his mentor Ironhide that day, but to also lose the twins had hit the silver warrior really hard.

He now misses Sunstreaker more then ever before.

As a child, the first Transformers media I was exposed to was the live action Michael Bay films. But just the first two. I never saw the rest.

Now. As a child, probably around eight years old, I kind of liked Skids and Mudflap. I thought they were funny.

And, as a child, I was devastated (haha get it?) when the one of them (Mudflap, I think) was eaten alive by Devastator. I was so upset. Until it turned out he survived. That made little eight year old me happy.

Now, as an adult, I recently rewatched those two movies, and then finally saw the next three, I can safely say I don't share the same liking to the characters as I did a child.

Yes, I love the twins, these boys need more love. Written as the friend being human.

An important job that comes with being their friend, is breaking up fights. When it's just verbal banter you can let them handle it on their own, but when they start getting into physical fights they will need you to break it up before they get hurt.

They love listening to music and often like showing you their favourite songs.

They are small enough that they are able to hang out in most human places. They can fit in houses and on couches, so expect them to be lounging on the couch and listening to music when you come home. You're home may be in a bit of a mess, because they love to snoop through your stuff trying to find anything interesting or fun to play with.

They are very interested in TV and watching films or shows. They love watching action or comedy, and like to suggest movie nights most nights.

They are interested in trying out other human activities as well, they like to test out how much they can get away with without breaking stuff. So expect them to try videogames, reading comics (books don't interest them), and using computers to scroll the internet. Although last time, they managed to break your computer.

They love trying to show off, either by beatboxing along with dancing, lifting heavy things, or trying to pull off cool fighting moves. They will be very happy if you watch/listen and tell them how impressed you are.

They are protective. If you have someone bothering you they will not so subtly promise to make them disappear. They will go through with it unless you specifically tell them not to.

If you want to paint on them, they will let you. If you want to paint cool designs on their frame so they look even more awesome, they will let you and they will also give suggestions of cool things you could put on them.

They are bad influences. They often suggest doing fun things that will get you in trouble. They will need you to be the responsible one. If you do decide to get in trouble with them, be prepared for a Prime lecture.

You can climb on them and they are fine with it. Is there a shelf you can't reach? A spider web on your ceiling? Sure they could probably get it, but it's more fun if they let you climb on their shoulders so you can get it. They'll then play around, pretending to almost drop you only to save you at the last second.

Bayverse glasses

got this idea when I was at a restaurant earlier today, originally just gonna edit Skids and Mudflap but I did the full thing.

I have an identical twin brother, which means we have opinions on how twins are depicted in fiction. It also means that we drawn to the same twin character in any set of twins. It's just how it happens that one ends up being better than the others, particularly in Transformers. Well, the one time we ever agreed on which twin we'd imprint on was Skids and Mudflap; he gravitated towards Skids, I towards Mudflap.

And then we actually watched the movie. Wasn't that interested in them after that. Threw me for a loop when I saw Mudflap in Cybertron though.

Ok, so time for some spec bio 👏

Mudflap and Skids hatched from the same egg, for example. Since Optimus and Megatron are implied to be siblings or at least thinking of each other like that in the Bayverse, I'm taking that literal and making them biological brothers in the AU.

In the Bay movies it is shown that cybertronians come from some type of eggs.

In my headcanon, if they hatch from the same egg (not common), the hatchlings are related (brothers/sisters/twins/triplets/etc); if not, they aren't family.

Now if the energon of another cybertronian falls on an egg (either by accident or purpose) it will get absorbed by the membrane of the egg and the hatchling will be biologically related to that cybertronian, resembling them physically/mentally yet not being an exact copy (they become that transformer's offspring, in simpler words).

In the AU Sentinel found a random energon egg in an abandoned nursery and touched it while bleeding from his servo, accidentaly making the hatchlings inside his and now being stuck with two children that have the energon of a Prime running through their veins.

What can go wro–? Everything. Everything went fucking wrong.
