  Hoy os presentamos en OCKD un nuevo análisis de un monitor Philips, quienes nos han enviado esta unidad de Philips Brilliance 242G5 para testearla en nuestro laboratorio. El nuevo monitor LCD es de resolución Full HD (1920×1080) y tiene un refresco de 144 HZ junto a un tiempo de respuesta GtG de tan solo 1ms, lo cual lo hace ideal para gaming.

El monitor sin duda destaca por su multitud de opciones de entrada, con un una entrada MHL, una HDMI, un Display Port y un DVI-D, además de un muy útil HUB USB 3.0 en un lateral que amplia nuestras posibilidades de escritorio.

Este monitor además cuenta con la tecnología SmartImage Lite, que proporciona varios perfiles optimizados para varios tipos de juegos, como pueden ser los shooters o los juegos de estrategia en tiempo real más populares.

  El monitor Philips Brilliance 242G5 llega con una caja muy interesante que nos permite acceder por ambos lados a todas las piezas del monitor y sus accesorios, por lo que nos tenemos que olvidar de esas engorrosas cajas que nos obligan a sacar todo junto de cualquier manera.

Tanto el frontal como la parte trasera repiten imágenes (siento el estado de la caja, nos ha llegado así) destacando sobretodo los 144Hz del monitor o sus 1ms de tiempo de respuesta, sin duda una opción gaming.

    En la parte superior encontramos un pequeño manual que nos indica como desembalar y como montar el monitor, aunque ya advierto que es extremadamente fácil.

    Por un lado tenemos el panel, que llega con un sistema de montaje preparado para su propia base, aunque conserva el anclaje VESA por si fuera necesario.

    La base incluida, permite rotar sobre si misma, inclinación, rotación del monitor a modo retrato y la modificación de la altura.

    Finalmente en cuanto a accesorios, el monitor llega con un CD de drivers, manuales, un cable VGA, un cable de alimentación, un cable USB para el HUB y un mando adicional que nos permite un acceso más fácil a los botones de función del monitor.

    Philips Brilliance 242G5 24″ Full HD 144Hz 1ms

  El monitor Philips Brilliance 242G5l llega con un color negro en su marco, junto a su base y el montaje se reduce a introducir la base en la parte trasera del panel con un simple click. Como os avanzábamos durante la introducción se trata de un monitor Full HD (1920×1080 pixeles) con un refresco de 144Hz y 1ms de tiempo de respuesta GtG, una opción ideal para gaming muy completa.

El panel utilizado es de tipo TN de 24″ y deberemos utilizar su entrada Display Port o DVI-D para ser capaces de aprovechar sus máximas características a 120 o 144Hz. El brillo del monitor es de 350  cd/m², mientras que el contraste queda fijado en 1000:1. El monitor tiene un tamaño de 565 x 517 x 220  mm en su altura máxima y un peso de 6.27KG, mientras que las especificaciones nos hablan de un consumo medio de 18.58W.

La base permite ajustes de rotación sobre si misma, inclinación, rotación del monitor a modo retrato y la modificación de la altura, esta es la altura mínima:

El panel en su parte trasera  tiene un diseño con una caja en su parte trasera que esconde toda la electrónica.

    En el lado de las entradas de vídeo tenemos: un puerto para el control adicional incluido, un Display Port, una entrada D-SUB, un DVI-D, dos HMDI (uno de ellos MHL-HDMI para dispositivos móviles) y un jack para auriculares o para extraer el audio a unos altavoces externos.

    En el lazo izquierdo tenemos el conector de alimentación, que es el habitual de los ordenadores ya que la fuente se ha integrado en el interior del panel.

    Cerca del conector de alimentación, en el lateral derecho, tenemos un switch de encendido/apagado del monitor)

    Un poco más abajo tenemos los cinco botones del control del monitor.

    En el lado opuesto al switch de alimentación tenemos un cómodo HUB USB 3.0 de cuatro puertos.

    Pasamos a ver las posibilidades de ajustes que permite su base, siendo esta la altura máxima permitida por la misma. En concreto la base permite un ajuste de 13cm de altura, algo ideal para ajustarla a la altura de nuestra vista.

    El eje de la base permite la rotación y la inclinación, además de que en caso de querer desmontar el monitor de nuevo tenemos un pequeño botón que libera el panel de su anclaje.

      La base nos permite instalar el monitor en modo retrato.

    La inclinación permitida es de 5 grados.

    Mientras que la inclinación hacia arriba nos permite un ajuste de hasta 20 grados.

    Finalmente, la base nos permite una rotación de 90 grados en cualquiera de las dos direcciones.

  Como siempre, hemos testeado el monitor tanto en multimedia como en gaming. Empezando por el lado multimedia, hemos comprobado que la calidad del panel TN utilizado es muy competitiva y no tiene demasiado a envidiar a los paneles IPS en cuanto a ángulos de visión se refiere.

        En el apartado gaming, hemos pasado de utilizar Project Cars, para utilizar su secuela como novedad en la pista Azure Coast con el mismo Lancer Evo X. Por supuesto la rápida respuesta y el refresco del monitor son la característica clave del mismo, mientras que la calidad de imagen es de gran calidad.

El monitor llega con la tecnología SmartImage, con varios modos predefinidos de imagen para cada tipo de juego, algo bastante útil si no queremos comernos la cabeza toqueteando los ajustes, aunque el monitor permite un ajuste manual en cualquier caso.

  El nuevo Philips Brilliance 242G5 llega como una opción ideal para gaming del conocido fabricante que lleva décadas fabricando productos de tecnología. Este puede adquirirse por un precio aproximado de 385€ en la mayoría de tiendas, que puede suponer un precio algo mayor que otras opciones de 144Hz y Full HD del mercado.

Sin embargo, donde destaca el producto de Philips es en todos los extras incluidos, ya que desde el control adicional a la comodísima base que nos permite ajustar a nuestro gusto la posición o las tecnologías para facilitar los perfiles de imagen gaming en los diferentes juegos, el monitor representa un valor adicional que otras opciones más económicas no tienen. Un elemento que seguramente muchos jugadores apreciarán es el HUB USB 3.0 integrado en el panel, ya que el mismo dispone de alimentación propia aunque no hayamos conectado el cable a nuestro equipo y si lo conectamos, resulta ideal como base para todos nuestros periféricos.

El panel de 24″ TN también esta a la altura de todas las expectativas, ofreciendo una gran calidad de imagen tanto en tareas de ofimática, como en tareas multimedia como puede ser viendo películas o por supuesto en su labor principal que es el gaming.

En conclusión, creo que el Philips Brilliance 242G5 ofrece una opción bastante equilibrada en cuanto a gaming con muchos extras para que justifican su precio, pero que queda ligeramente alto frente a otras opciones de Full HD de 144Hz mucho más simples. Por lo que finalmente optamos por nuestro galardón OCKD ORO recomendando su compra si lo que se busca es un monitor con muchos extras y calidad dentro de los paneles de 24″ Full HD a 144Hz.
