ppl are too quick to point to laios' disability as the reason his friends think he's a freak sometimes. so many instances of laios getting yelled at are, in my eyes, a case of "this guy had to emotionally mature very early in order to be there for his little sister" combined with "much older friends who never had to learn to manage their own emotions to the same degree"
a lot of the time he's right about needing to be more direct/deal with things in a way that may seem scary/needing to put your gut reaction aside. he tries not to make his friends uncomfortable and he puts up with a lot because he's trying to keep the peace, but he also pushes the others out of their comfort zones purposefully to try to get them to think more constructively. everyone else in the party is prone to acting on their gut instincts and avoiding uncomfortable situations even when facing them head-on is very much necessary. part of what makes laios such a great leader is the fact that he knows from experience how to put his own feelings aside to help someone else grow.
yes, he does make a lot of social blunders by accident and he does struggle to connect with others, but not all of his positive influence on others is accidental or "despite" making people uncomfortable. a lot of the time, I think it's clear he knows exactly what he's doing and he's trying to help the people around him process emotions in a healthy way as they all go through some truly harrowing shit. all the main characters support each other as well as they can with their unique emotional skillsets. laios' skillset just happens to be "gently talk child into eating her vegetables"

i think the turning point in my life both academically and professionally was realizing that. If you Go First, be it a presentation or an interview or whatever. If you go first, you are being judged based on NOTHING but yourself. They aren't comparing you to anyone else, you don't have an act to "follow". You are the Bar. You can literally just do the best you can and at that point it will automatically be the best they've seen so far. And once you're done you're done. You can mentally and emotionally check out.
Game changer insofar as being stressed about presenting because now I just bulldoze over everyone else to go first like a feral hog.

ohoho i am HERE for the greygold / emperor / lae’zel drama triangle, delicious conflict there
i am very curious what greygold’s thoughts on the *current* orpheus situation is, what with him being locked in gith baby jail for his powers / trying to oppose cringe queen vlaakith back in the olden days.
Ngl, Me and Greygold thought that yellow bubble was a sleepy-time bubble, not a chill-out-while-I-syphon-yo-powers bubble for a while.
Thought that anti-turn-into-a-mindflayer power was like. automatic. like an aura.
Thought it wasn't so bad for Orpheus to have a lil nap while we deal with Act 3....Figured it out at some point, but-!
Look, when Greyg's gotta see horror after horror after horror, Orpheus current situation could have been a lot worse! And Greygold got very good at 'Not paying attention' and 'Not thinking about it'.
That is why they have a quest journal. Obviously the tadpole is writing everything down. The only one paying attention. And thinking about it. Obviously.

So do you guys actually think that Jason's entire story, relationship to the others, and philosophy amounts to him being a rebellious teen who wants his dad's attention? Like are you 100% serious? I thought you were joking about that but too many of you are saying it with your whole chest.
And what the fuck is this "Bruce antagonizing Jason is fanon!" Shit I've been seeing? You guys are aware that a parent can love their kid and still be a shit parent right? I know you guys don't want to fathom the thought that maybe your blorbo might also occasionally have to face responsibility for consistently endangering children but let's not start being delusional now.
Bruce does love his kids, that doesn't mean that he hasn't hurt them. And I'd also argue that for the most part he feels in the right for it, and he's said multiple times that he believes it's for their own good, so you can't even argue that he's sorry about it. It's okay for you guys to admit that your PERSONAL INTERPRETATION of the character wouldn't do that but don't sit here and pretend that it's not a facet of the source.

So like, Amanda is clearly supposed to be important to Connor because she's got that nice shiny relationship stats, but I wish she was actually important to Connor. I want their relationship to mean something. The Betrayed stats when he deviates didn't mean too much to me but I would like it to be.
What I'm saying is I wish they'd given his relationship with Amanda as much attention and weight as they did with Hank. Sure, it's got red flags everywhere and it's not healthy but the whole Hank thing has red flags too so that's not an excuse. I want the decision to deviate to be harder for the player, aight? And maybe this is one way to do it.

I personally thought Zayne was funny from the start. The first meeting where MC rushes into his office shows he has a sense of humour and idk a comfortable dynamic with her. And then the next main story meeting with the motorbike - it was giving chaotic duo, the kind of couple (platonic or romantic) where people are surprised they're together since they're so seemingly different but they actually complement each other very well.
Skkskdk I accidentally pressed submit instead of enter so sorry for spamming your asks. But honestly even in the frozen seal bond story, honestly Zayne gave off more of an awkward vibe to me rather than cold. Like the poor man just didn't know what to say really😭😭😭
I honestly think Zayne hides his slight social awkwardness and nerdiness (very adorable) behind that Ice King reputation. The only version of Zayne that I think truly deserved to be seen as very icy from the start is the Foreseer (for tbf, obvious reasons).
Honestly my first impression of him (in the story) was a little different because I was kinda turned on when he was counting down and making us hurry up and come to him like a trained dog
But yeah, the part where MC threatened to just leave him on the road when he was questioning her control on the bike just made me click into their dynamic even more
Zayne's definitely awkward af in the beginning, but it also shows that he's trying for MC. He's so used to being on his own, but he wants to make an effort outside of his comfort zone to reach her
I do also agree that his awkwardness comes across as cold. Guy just has a resting blank face that people can't read so they think he's scary when he doesn't reciprocate a hello as warmly as they expected (which I have irl experience with asdnflkj). Even when he was making a joke in his first anecdote, people were surprised af because they weren't expecting that from him, but he's literally a fucking comedian and they just don't get it
Like, this guy makes me laugh so easily. When I was trying to get him to say "Do you actually believe I don't feel anything?" for the last ask, I caught this line and just started laughing
Him being all red and pouty and threatening to tap my ass
Don't threaten me with a good time, doc asdflkdj
