♢ — @lumenstellaris asked: "why are you here?"
UNPROMPTED: ALWAYS ACCEPTING
“ Ever the inquisitive mind I see. “ Dottore responds with an UNBOTHERED tone yet does not answer the question that has been directed towards him. “ Unfortunately, simply ASKING only gets you so far in the ways of garnering answers and information. I’m under no obligation to answer you, nor do I have any intentions to do so. “
He clasps his hands behind his back, observing the traveler in turn. The last time they’d properly met had been but in brief moments. Though they had never been the FOCUS of his attention at any of those particular moments in time. He’d heard MANY interesting rumors of course, even reports in some cases. But alas. Even HE on occasion must follow orders rather than pursue a topic of personal interest.
“ Besides, it seems more fitting to ask YOU such a question. Traveling to all the nations in the desperate attempt to find information, yet getting tangled into so many other affairs. You’re quite BAD at sticking to an original goal, aren’t you? Don’t be so surprised. It isn’t particularly hard knowledge to uncover. Especially in Mondstadt. “
He steps forward, beginning to calmly walk around her like a SHARK circling a school of FISH it planned to devour. “ Yet, I imagine you haven’t made much progress? It’s no surprise really... “

more tre shounen manga chapter covers!
some notes: 1. xu da's blade here is the dadao, or the big sabre. i swear this isn't a pun, it's different da characters. 2. the background is refencing a specific early 13th century painting, ma yuan's 'scholar viewing a waterfall'. (go look at the original, zoomed in, at the met museum site). 3. the abacus and the suanpan coexisted historically across the world from each other, but if one inspired the other is unclear (according to my shoddy research)

So my 40 year old coworker likes to make a lot of dad jokes and in retaliation he now knows way too much information about One Piece than he ever wanted to I'm sure, but he thinks Brook is funny, so I've started leaving Skull Jokes on his desk. Here are the first three.

vaguely fascinated by osana sov's naming choices. she chose for her daughter a name that can mean "bitter (strength)" or "lady" in two ancient languages (hebrew and aramaic) and for her son a name that means "old friend" in another ancient language (old english)
like every other golden age character has a name that's pretty normal by our standards, which tbh includes mara, then osana just names her other kid uldwyn. then again, even osana's name is either a variant of the hebrew hosanna or after an obscure and possibly fictitious old english princess-saint whose name means something along the lines of "godly solitude", so i suppose mara might be considered the odd one out

i know ive talked about this before but i really just do not understand where people get the idea that griffith never cared about the hawks or sacrificed them for personal power. like. its pretty clearly spelled out that he feels extreme guilt over every hawk that dies under his command and that guilt is what the godhand play on to convince him to sacrifice. they show him the bodies of the people who have died following him and his dream and tell him that the only way to not have their sacrifices be in vain is to sacrifice the remaining hawks and achieve his dream. he doesnt sacrifice the remaining hawks because he doesnt care about them or because he wants the power that comes with being a member of the godhand. he does it because if he doesnt, every other death meant nothing. and thats not even getting into guts specifically and how griffith's emotions towards him play into his decision because thats a different can of worms and i already wrote enough here lmao

fun, potentially unrelatable fact about me: when im super duper high i sometimes will become physically itchy until i hear the main guitar riff from Walk by Pantera!
i do not know what this means but it's kinda neat tbh. the human brain is so cool sometimes.

Hey so uhhh the next week or two are gonna be rough for me emotionally because of a real life thing. And the thing itself is gonna be bad enough, but like... anytime I have mental downtime, I'm thinking about what the thing is gonna be like when it finally happens, and the imagining is probably worse than the real thing will be. Certainly it's longer, at any rate.
So like... if anyone wants to send random asks or something, whether to chat or ask questions or just, I dunno, because you want to share about a cool bug you saw, feel free. Distractions will be greatly appreciated.
