wu&io: fuck. this one is hard bc while golden hour is my favorite i think portrait of a blank slate is the best, like, skill and sound-wise. but since you asked for favorites and not what I view as best I'll use golden hour for the argument

unfortunately I've become really sour towards pebble brain in its entirety in general. while I still get excited listening to it live, I never listen to the songs just on my own. I only ever listen to aya or wu&io. pebble brain just isn't really the style of music i tend to listen to. I really like the heavier direction they've taken with wu&io and subsequently normal people things. that's definitely more my jam.

while cause for concern is great, I do think it's overplayed at live shows now and also wu&io is just a better ep skill-wise as a whole, so golden hour is far more put together than a lot of the songs on their other eps. also I just live in LA so golden hour holds a special extra level of meaning to me. I'm not joking when I say i turn that song on every time I get stuck in LA traffic.

my thoughts on wu&io first listen: portrait of a blank slate: I like it a lot! breaks away from their usual form a bit. sexy guitar. this song has aromantic swag to me honestly. love what he does with his voice here its pathetic and memorable!!! The drums are sexy too. Im a sucker for songs that cmwyl: well. you know. not my first listen. i have thoughts about the mixing.. erm maybe I'm just jaded from listening to it sm Its good. its just that the verses are kind of Mid compared to the rest of the ep. It feels muffled and kinda sanded down idk how to explain it. consequences: sounds like a local garage band who makes like one set of songs and plays concerts at every venue that will take them. i mean its good but am I wrong. warsaw: the lyricism reminds me of los camp....... I like this one a lot ^_^ idk the guitar and bass is sexy in this one. yeah the lyricism is my main favorite part of this one. return of the good vocal mixing too the filtered part (sample?) gave me chills... all the best concert snippets I've seen ended up being from this one..... She hopes to god that I just choke! favorite from the ep and maybe my new lvjy fav scum: his voice is pathetic and wet in this one I don't think I can legally comment on how I feel about this.um... I Like It. the guitar in this one is good too. THE KEY CHANGE IS SOOO SEXY TOO. it gets better as it goes on and w each listen

imagine tommy knows that music exists but idk he just doesn't understand it completely so when he hears wilbur singing new music that he's never heard before, he's like holy shit how is this possible???

and maybe he confronts wilbur about it or better yet just kinda says it outloud on accident. and then tommy realizes that music can be created and wilbur is creating music (which is all the music tommy's been humming) and idk cue a scenes where the two mess around with lyrics :D

also bonus maybe tommy messing around with lyrics that he, as a (n ex?) borrower, or or better yet a newfound sizeshifter can relate to. eueueuuee i love them so much

This would sooooo happen in jornos after the reveal and they were getting more comfortable!!! Wilbur would probably go all sappy too because Tommy knows all his music

I feel like Tommy would know about music being created by other people though because it’s not his first house and music was played in other households in most cases. But because he’s never seen where the music comes from, he doesn’t exactly know who’s playing it.

The fact that Wilbur does write and play his own music is the first form of music that Tommys been able to visibly see and hear live (since it was rare anyone in the old colony played music either) so Tommys never really thought about how he might hear a few random songs, but never see the beans creating them.

So finding out that no, these songs are recorded by other artists and that other genres exist would absolutely blow Tommys mind and take a long time explaining how it all works and how things like radios exist that they play music and that no a tiny band inside them.

This would also probably lead Tommy to finding the Able sisters I recon too and deciding that it was now His song.

Also an update: currently I haven’t been writing as much. The spark hasn’t been there and instead more on art so I’ve been messing about with that. I have occasionally gone back to a few wips and been adding to them, but just haven’t had the right stuff to get a good chunk of writing done.

I’m also still stuck on chapter 3 of jornos. It’s Technos chapter and considering I don’t write a whole lot of Techno, I think I’m pressuring myself a little bit to get his character written just right. I don’t want to let the people who adore techno down so trying to finish the chapter has been challenging. But I also really want to work on the chapter and finish it. To say I’m conflicted is an understatement lol. We’ll get there.

Also also Brick! I have your other ask, I’m just finding it hard to fit characters with each one lol. ITS HARDDDDD!

I still adoree model buses eueueue but golden hour is I think more of my Vibe nowww, y'know? Ive grown. Model Buses was younger me, Golden Hour is present me (wild how much one can change in a couple of years). Model buses is still my baby tho ❤️

Also my ranking for Aya has always been all over the place but cfc being that high up compared to all of the other Lovejoy songs is definitely a newer thing. I just.. I love the trumpets in cfc so much. It makes me feel an emotion none of the other Lovejoy songs do. It honestly might one day get above Model Buses. It makes me so happy. It feels truly the epitome of an Indie Movie and that's my fav vibe ever.

The funniest part is like. I tried SO HARD to go into wu&io blind. I avoided every concert video like the plague. I scrolled past all those clips on twt. I even debated not listening to cmwyl but . I didn't want to be that left out so I did listen to it (which predictably made me feel sick of it by the time the album came out 😭) but seeing the titles of all the wu&io songs I got attached to golden hour 😭😭😭 and was already being like "I bet u that's gonna be my fav" but I was like no. I will not be biased. And the first time I listened to wu&io I actually liked poabs the best but I think that's just bc of how fucking shook I was by it being the first song I listened to and when I told my friends that it was my fav they all were like "damn I thought golden hour was gonna be ur fav" but then . I’m alright! Listened to the entirety of WU&IO on the way to church (awesome experience) and the songs at church were also so good like… *explodes*

I’m usually not too big of a fan of traditional church-y music (I think it often sounds repetitive and sometimes shallow. This isn’t the case with all worship songs, but for a bit of them it definitely is) but THESE SONGS WERE SO FULL OF FEELING AND THE WORSHIP LEADERS WERE SO INTO IT IT WAS AWESOME!!! I SANG LOUDLY!!! YESSSS!!!

The sermon itself was also good :D My mind typically wanders for parts of sermons, but today I was so darn focused on the message askgajsfajsfa it was so good. Like. My goodness.

It’s my mom’s birthday, so my massive extended family threw her a surprise party :) That was fun! And the desserts were yesssss :D

At the moment, I feel quite tired, but also on-edge for some reason I can’t place? 😅 I’m gonna spend some time reading and then maybe reblog some stuff or watch DSMP :)

I originally listened to recordings of golden hour from live shows wayyyy back before wu&io was released, and then I heard it in person myself at the first lovejoy live show i went to in december of last year. a lot of the lyrics changed between that version i heard and the studio version that got released nearly 6 months later, but it was one of my favorites way back then and it was still my favorite when it officially got released. it's just so good and especially hits so hard if you live in an area with Those Vibes
