Cause of the smaller available page count, several pages were cut and then I repainted a few pages. Here are the new page versions (and cute plushie readers✨)
TMFU shapeshifter AU. Everyone can shapeshift at will into one kind of animal. While in their animal form, people retain their normal brain functions, so they can mostly think as if they were humans, but they have a bit of a harder time resisting their animal instincts. I don't think they could speak, but maybe, they'd be able to somehow communicate telephatically (for the sake of convenience). So, the question is: which animals they'd be?
I really like the idea of Illya as a pallas cat. I cannot explain why, but it just fits in my head. Everyone'd assume he'd be a bear or something, but no, he's a small round-ish cat.
While I love the idea of Napoleon as a fox, I feel influenced by OCTOPUS NAPOLEON RIGHTS, so I feel tempted to make him an octopus (I'm not well verged in octopus species, so just imagine him as the one you think of when someone says octopus). The problem is that octopodes (it's originally a Greek word, so using a Latin plural octopi makes zero sense; though I'm willing to accept octopuses as a viable alternative) cannot breathe air. Some websites claim octopodes can survive out of water for up to 30 minutes, but that's still inconvenient. Maybe in this fantasy universe octopodes can survive out of water for longer periods of time (like hours). Well, Hank in Finding Dory could do it. Being an octopus would give him absolutely insanse camoflouge skills which would be perfect for him as a thief.
I cannot decide about Gaby. Maybe some kind of smaller bird, or something weasel/otter-like. Or maybe she could be a pangolin, lol.
As for Waverly, I like the idea that everyone expects him to be something unremarkable (a basset hound?), but in reality he's something pretty majestic, like an eagle or a black leopard or a cool, rare, almost extinct animal. But I also like giant anteaters very much, so I'm tempted to make Waverly into a giant anteater.
Sometimes you just have one of those moments where the progress we've made as a culture get thrown into stark relief. You look at something and go "Holy shit, that would never have happened when I was a kid."
Today, I had one of those moments when I realized that the teenage boys I'm working with are just. genuinely, openly enthusiastic about going to Build-a-Bear for their outing.
These are sixteen and seventeen year old boys! They just had a whole conversation about what to name their "cute", mostly new squishmallows! They're genuinely excited that they're going to Build-a-Bear this weekend and asking other kids to pick up specific accessories for them!!
Holy shit, that never would've happened when I was 16. None of the boys would have dared to be visibly interested - and neither would most of the girls! There would have been a million gay jokes and "Haha, you're a girl" jokes and "What are you, a baby?" jokes. Teenagers weren't even supposed to care about anything back then!
Less than 15 years later, and I'm watching three 17 year old boys treat all that as not even worthy of comment.
So let's call that a reason for hope. Even when the kids aren't alright, in some ways apparently they are alright. Go Gen Z, honestly. It's so lovely to watch you guys just openly doing and saying stuff that, when I was a teen, would've been a social death sentence.
how does shanks manage to have some kind of sexual tension with every warlord in the sea whilst also having practically zero screen time. ramona-esque dilf of the east blue. luffy wants to be king of the pirates but is stuck sailing through the several deadly seas of his dad's evil exes. they see the straw hat and it activates their fight reflex. half-convinced that shanks gave it away with full knowledge of this
Thank you all these wonderful people for being apart of this and working so hard on it!
