rose is quick to read post-irony as actually being a joke/insincere, which in bro's case would be true. but i believe dave's natural instinct, outside of the influence of bro, is to read post-irony as genuine, which is exactly how mom serves it. we see this as early as act 3 from him; he understands her motives better than rose does herself:

but the thing is, it's always genuine from her. dave wouldn't have to second guess it because he's not one to naturally second guess someone's sincerity; that was learned due to his bro being virtually unassailable

you can make the argument that the second is is more psychologically destructive because it makes you question the reality of what is genuine sentiment and what isn't. dave never knew what was genuine and what was irony so he just sort of existed in this sincerity-ironic limbo and always did the opposite of what he genuinely felt on principle even if it always did originate from a genuine place.

dave is actually a lot more genuine and easy to read than he lets on even when grappling with his upbringing with B1 dirk (again, see this post). this can be seen all throughout he comic but a good example is the evolution of thoughts about his interest in the preserved dead things in his room:

if B1 roxy was dave's guardian he probably WOULD have pursued paleontology because she wouldve indulged him in it and probably find it cool and worthwhile to pursue, instead of allowing dave to flounder under ironic detachment, being poisoned by irony to the point of gaslighting himself into believing he doesnt actually believe he thinks this shit is cool. even if it was indulged in this such a way; a superficially kitsch and ironic appearing presentation, it comes from a genuine place and inspires genuine interest. just read the comments.

basically, i think if B1 roxy raised dave, their relationship would have a surface level appearance of being bizarre or over-the-top but they’d have an unsaid mutual understanding that it’s completely in earnest and just build on each other's funny and absurd gestures of affection. rather than seeing it as one-upping each other, it'd more like collaboration of some silly bullshit that you take a step back and look at full and just say, "fucking incredible"

Gabriel is a genuinely caring person who struggles to square his desire to help people with his duty as an archangel. He's the only one in Heaven trying to make things better for those in Hell, but his faith is used to manipulate him into committing atrocities against the people he used to protect (see the "TRAITOR" mural in 4-2)

he only realizes his mistakes after losing everything and being sentenced to death, but he still decides with only a little time remaining to try and make things right. for the sake of spoilers i will just say that the measures he takes are... extremely drastic and very enjoyable. i just really like the idea that even facing the end of all living things, no matter how steep your crimes, it is never too late to fix your mistakes. you are never unworthy forgiveness.

OOOH i have a LOT to say about this.

I think it's a lot less rushed. it FEELS a lot less rushed. And thats not saying its all perfect, it went pretty fast too, but not as fast as hazbin.

For example, hazbin had this big deadline and they had to fit in angels arc, the carmilla/vaggie situation, the heaven stuff, AND charlies shit with her dad. So despite it being a comedy, they had to stuff a LOT of things together, which means theres less chance for filler which means it gets rushed. (bc honestly, it feels less like a comedy and more like an edgy teen humor show BECAUSE they're stuffing the comedy in while rushing to get all the important lore bits in)

so helluva boss feels more like a comedy. they have serious moments, but it leaves space for jokes and humor that dont feel out of place (for example, in the hh finale they kept making jokes that rlly didnt fit? like charlie profusely apologizing to angels who are slaughtering her people? or when pentious died and it was a joke but we were supposed to take it seriously???)

helluva boss has episodes with less emotional baggage in them, like the pilot, murder family, spring broken, and CHERUB, and the harvest moon festival, all in season one. and while they do HAVE emotional moments, theyre not super heavy. then you have episodes that feel like a mix, like truth seekers and loo loo land. and then you have heavy episodes like ozzie's and queen bee. its much more balanced (and im focusing on s1 of hb bc its unfair to pit a two season show against a one season show.)

also also also, and this is smth i complain about a lot, Hazbin Hotel is OBSESSED with making their characters as likeable as possible. unfortunately this falls on characters who DONT DESERVE IT. Like angel dust. When he harassed husk, it was supposed to be humor and funny and whatever, but when husk snapped at him, he was the bad guy suddenly. and angel still never apologized. and im not saying hb doesnt have that issue (ESPECIALLY with stolas) but i think its handled better.

blitzo is a good example. i have complaints about the circus situation, but in the end hes still not a good guy, excuse or not. he's rude, he's nosy, he's dismissive. he hunts his sister down despite her making it very clear she doesnt wanna see him. and he brushes off stolas and even uses him under the guise of a sweet date. in general, blitzo is just waaay better handled than angel dust is.

i also like the villains more? theyre not made out to be a joke as much as the villians in hazbin (per my earlier statement about all the humor being stuffed in) crimson is made to be genuinely intimidating, striker, while mocked a lot, is still a very serious villain, mammon is a big joke on purpose, and it makes sense! and then other antagonists (verosika, one and two, ect) are made out to be funny because theyre NOT big villains, they're just bitches who have beef with imp. the worst villain in hb is, of course, the one woman, stella. but thats a conversation for another ask.

meanwhile the hazbin villains are sooo dumbed down. our most serious villain was lute. adam was a huge joke and relatively annoying at times? like most of what he did was watered down by bad jokes (like killing pentious??? ppl seem to forget adam beat alastor without even tearing his clothes and its because everytime hes on screen theres a terrible joke about to be made) and the vees are just??? eh??? i dont have a TON of complaints about velvette aside from how little she actually did to the point where she hardly feels like a villain? shes moreso just annoying. and then vox hypnotizes people and hes like. evil ceo type shit but thats overshadowed by his crazy ass beef with alastor because again, he didnt do much else. and then val had that stupid scene with vox that i hate so so so so much. hes made out to be funny when he SHOULDNT BE!!! They dont take val's character seriously its weird. ick. and also we didnt have many villains to even go off of? helluva boss gave us lots of characters to work with in season one, and all of them are unique in some way, and had time to shine and will have more time to shine later because the story isnt rushing. hazbin INSISTED on concluding this arc in one season when it really shouldn't have. they didnt have the time to do it, and they tried anyway. helluva boss is better because they gave it TIME. striker is introduced in season one and we KNOW he'll come back because he got away! and he does! and hes great because they gave him TIME to be there and be gone and be there and be gone.

and now he's our most recurring villain. and i think hes awesome. crimson didnt actually have a lot of time to vanish and come back, but hes also new so its a bit different. and he had two episodes in between showing up and disappearing, and the second one had more focus on striker anyways.

i think that while hazbin is a 4/10 for me (5 if im being generous), helluva boss is a 6 or 7/10. the worst part about the helluva boss writing is stolas's family and how the women are written tbh.

tldr: helluva boss is better paced and the characters are better, and hazbin hotel is too rushed and forces these characters onto you

obviously those two categories of tumblr behavior don’t 100% indicate whether a person participated in being shitty to aspecs when that was popular. but there really is a trend there, and i’m always going to be a lot more cautious about interacting with the latter kind of person.

We've been saying for years that all that shameless unquestioned inclusion of abusive materials in fan/communal spaces online was only adding more fuel to the fucking csem fire that's already a massive problem. We've been saying the people who we're most adamant of abusive material in fan and other communal spaces online are just abusers who want to use the inclusivity of these spaces as a shield and smokescreen for their grooming but way too many people got caught up in the brain washing of "radical inclusion" in fan spaces to give a fuck. And its genuinely frightening watching people, especially kids, fall down these rabbit holes and get stuck in echo chambers of abuse, abusive behavior and language, and exposed to materials of abuse over and over and at alarming rates online.

But what's even scarier is like what the fuck is there to do?? It's so hard getting people out of these mind sets and communities, especially people who are victims of csa who basically are stuck having their abuse normalized to them and its only exacerbated by these online communities of abusers; not to mention the law be it domestic or international is shit, useless, and does truly next to nothing for victims of csa and grooming, let alone the minimum to shut down rings online by targeting host sites and shit. Plus theres a whole conversation to have on abolition but like again who knows the answers there?

Awareness is important and being conscious of the language, terminology, and bastardization of genuinely radical language and communities these people use is key. The bare minimum is being able to spot these people and warning others of them to get them out of spaces and keep them out of spaces, especially ones with kids in them. It's a lot and it's very mentally taxing thing to be conscious of but again, its important and necessary to keep others safe, especially children online. If anything, we need to take the burden of creating safe spaces off the backs of countless children online who I see trying to fight tooth and nail to keep abusers away from them and who are mocked and ridiculed by grown fucking perverts for it.

I still don't really think they're insulting him. I have a similar dynamic with my own friend group, wherein i'm the eldest and the rest are younger. We've known one another since we were in middle school, and I am essentially the parental figure. They tease me about getting "old" all the time, they have since I turned eighteen and became an adult. I look annoyed and fed up all the time because they're like my siblings, but I don't take it to heart or as insults. Sure sometimes it IS genuinely annoying, but it's always in the same way you get annoyed with a sibling sometimes. And also, Chan could very easily TELL them he doesn't want to be teased like that. SKZ are always teasing one another, and sometimes it can go a little bit too far, because they're human, but Chan COULD always tell them he doesn't like it. SKZ listen to Chan, even if they tease him, and you can see that. And Chan teases them too, so it's far from one-sided.

(BTW this isn't meant to be a jab or anything, and i'm not saying the following is TRUE or MY OWN opinion, i'm just the type who digs too deep into everything.) but do you maybe feel yourself reflected in the situation? Or it resonates too much for you? I hate Jotaro’s characterization. a lot.

He, as a character had potential beyond just being who he is: a badass. When I ask people what they think of jotaro, they tell me they think of a giant strong guy who doesnt take shit.

And that... Sucks.

With many shounen or even seinen manga, theres a weird caricaturing for badass characters like jotaro, and perhaps its because of the stigma behind ‘strong & manly’ men with emotions, but jotaro could have been a legendary and relatable character if only araki delved into his insecurities.

in the beginning as startdust crusaders we’re shown how jotaro is rude to his mother but when she doesnt kiss him one time he gets slightly worried--something that is the only profound scene regarding in their relationship.

(also i dont like at all the fact that holly put up w her son's shit. she is a person too, and it wouldve been nice if she physically stopped herself from touching/kissing him bc he's so explosive)

the entire beginning, the very base of this was because jotaro didnt want his mother to die, so i feel like it does matter to talk abt how poorly it was portrayed.

in 1988 of japan, lets say that there was a stigma for many things, and even taboos that still apply to this day in many countries, but the two main ones are: being fatherless, large, and having foreign blood/parent(s)

jotaro has blue eyes, jotaro was ‘fatherless’ at a young age, since his father is rarely ever around.

japan is known for its extreme bullying towards the nonconforming in both physical and mental aspects, search it up.

anyway, i feel like it would have been the best explanation for jotaro’s cold nature that developed at such a young age and how it effected the people around him because of the bullying he faced for having blue eyes or having an english woman as a mother, and so on.

it would have also explained why later on as he slightly matured he’d blame his mother and therefore be mean to her and call her rude shit--because he associated his mother to the bullies who mocked him for having a white mom--and also hate his father by extension bc he was labelled as ‘fatherless’.

he’d think that everyone is superficial and that intimidation is the best way to protect himself bc when he bulked up the boys stopped pestering him and the same girls who laughed at the sight of him being bullied now wanted to slip into his pants.

perhaps he couldve bonded with kakyoin beyond just sharing life and death experiences bc of similar school experiences--after all, its canon that kakyoin is suicidal, and maybe depression couldve been another topic explored--kakyoin is weirdly fierce for someone who is supposed to be a ‘weak/kindred soul’ as araki put it.

kakyoin has flaming red/pink hair--a major anomaly. he’s softspoken--yet another anomaly, since boys back then were supposed to be assertive.

it wouldve been cool to see them bond mutually from that--with kakyoin showing genuine interest in his input when he shows him his art, asks him for his opinion, and slowly as the 50 days progressed, he trusts kakyoin more than anything bc in anyones experience who’s faced similar experiences, once u open up enough to trust someone, u trust them completely.

same thing goes for the rest of the crew; theyre all strange, eccentric people and it would make sense that jotaro would embrace himself and those features he’s hated for all his life (the reason why he always wears his hat couldve been that it shadows over his eyes is to hide the ocean-blue hue of them)

back to his mom--yeah, he blames her, and the moment she gets sick, it worries him--a lot.

theres been moments in his life where he wishes she were dead, but when he saw her wilting on the ground, he fucking loses it.

reality crashes down him--it wouldve been profound if he only lost his shit in the beginning with only his mother and stayed calm and cool later on in the story. maybe after kakyoin is killed, he couldve really lost his shit if his relationship developed a ton--maybe he even admitted to him in one scene that he’d love to go to his favorite coffee shop with kakyoin and show him the places he loiters around (places that seem so bright now that the thought of kakyoin, his first real friend, would check out) bc after all, even if joot is built like an ox, he’s still a kid.

so, it wouldve been cool that the moment he finds out that kakyoin was killed, he fucking loses it--and this time, now that his stand in his complete control and he’s matured and learned from all his fights, he’s absolutely terrifying in his own way.

he doesnt lash out and freak out the way he did with his mother, but this time, the way he reacts here in his confrontation w dio was the same, if not worse way in part 4 when he destroys kira while he faced a ptsd episode (kudos to araki for throwing that scene in btw)

he doesnt respond to any of dio’s taunts and hits him with dirty moves--AND OMG... I FORGOT IF THIS HAPPENED CANONICALLY SO FORGIVE ME IF IT DID BUT IMAGINE IF HE FINISHES OFF DIO THE SAME WAY DIO KILLED KAKYOIN--WITH A GIANT HOLE IN HIS STOMACH???

AND HE JUST STANDS THERE, HOVERING OVER DIO, WITH THAT DEAD + ANGRY LOOK IN HIS EYES, and lets pretend that joseph is okay here, he needs to pull jotaro physically away from dio’s body bc jotaro just continues to beat his body to a bloody pulp and starts sobbing.

jotaro is a human, 17 year old boy who had no friends up until now. jotaro yearns normalcy--something that had seemed so out of reach till he became fast friends w kakyoin--kakyoin, who was the same person who complimented his eyes when his hat was off, the same person who had his back in fights and was so damn kind, and all of that was ripped away so suddenly.

part 3 ends with jotaro being weirdly kind to his mother--she reminded him a little of kakyoin, and tries his best to keep his emotions in check and not lash out on her.

the last panel is  of jotaro, a large, strong guy hunched over his desk with his phone loose in his hand, and a message was sent to kakyoin where it says:

"where are you? didnt you want to taste that cherry cheesecake i told you about?"

honestly as someone who like genuinely has always struggled w not being mean to people and grew up with very little (and often no) empathy towards other people whenever others say that c!techno cant be criticized for not caring about others it always just. bothers me. i dont think he has to care about others if he doesnt like them but theres a big difference between not caring about strangers and not caring about people who you either used to be friends with and hurt (c!tubbo) or people who youve actively messed with and hurt because you know you could come out okay (c!quackity). its also, like mentioned, tied into the fact that he believes if it doesnt effect him it just Doesnt Matter that makes him an asshole, and a cruel one at that

Well he's an angel so I'm taking him being catholic as canon. There are a lot of themes in the game that point to catholisism specifically.

its debatable if Gabriel truly believes he's "the one true savior" or is mocking the idea of it

ok im actually gonna write some gabe propaganda bc despite what you may expect from a game called ULTRAKILL theres a lot to be said about his character and how catholicism is represented

Gabriel is a genuinely caring person who struggles to square his desire to help people with his duty as an archangel. He's the only one in Heaven trying to make things better for those in Hell, but his faith is used to manipulate him into committing atrocities against the people he used to protect (see the "TRAITOR" mural in 4-2)

he only realizes his mistakes after losing everything and being sentenced to death, but he still decides with only a little time remaining to try and make things right. for the sake of spoilers i will just say that the measures he takes are... extremely drastic and very enjoyable. i just really like the idea that even facing the end of all living things, no matter how steep your crimes, it is never too late to fix your mistakes. you are never unworthy forgiveness.

hes also SO FUCKING GAY for this dumb little robot. it mauled him so hard he tasted his own blood and he fell in love right there. theres no way this guy has a normal healthy relationship to pain he is soooooooooo fucked. i love him. please vote for Gabriel "patron saint of gay lapsed catholics" Ultrakill !!!!!!!!

What if – hear me out, but what if Kaneki was adopted by a ghoul after his mother died? You said ghouls adopt orphaned younglings. His aunt obviously doesn't want him so...

Like, imagine a ghoul seeing this young, obviously neglected kid and just going "I guess I'm a parent now ¯\_(ツ)_/¯" and just picking this kid up and nobody freaking finds out. Kaneki continues going to school and the difference is that he now has a caring guardian and has to make his own food because said guardian genuinely thinks he can eat grass. The ghoul's trying tho. They also end up learning how to read and write if they didn’t know thanks to Kaneki.

Years later, if the steel beams incident still happens he's not freaking out as much because he was raised by a ghoul and knows some basics but still calls them up because he fell asleep and woke up with his rinkaku wrapped around himself. The ghoul parent freaks out at first but they can at least get the joy of teaching their child how to control their kagune and to hunt.

Okay I have IDEAS about mixed species families

Ghouls are on average much more protective of young than humans are, they had to evolve a sort of anxiety on behalf of unsafe kids in order to ensure someone would take the very large amount of ghoul orphans in. That instinct can very rarely get in the way when they come across a human kid in need, and oops they have a human kid now. Almost every time it’s just temporary until they can get them somewhere safe, but sometimes, if the child understands what caution must be taken for ghouls to survive and is willing to be a part of that world, they stay as permanent family

This happens most often with children who’s parents were eaten, some ghouls will take them in. It also happens because lots of ghouls hunt people they know are horrible so they don’t feel too bad about it, so a lot of abusive parents get turned into lunch meat leaving the kid to be taken in by the people who ate them

If the child is adopted young enough, they tend to end up with a whole lot of ghoul behaviors, especially if they have non human siblings. Even though they don’t come naturally to them, they’ll avoid eye contact with strangers or rub their sides against things as they walk or get in the playful mock battle stance at friends and family. The weird kid 11 year old that growls at people when he’s mad may just be raised by man eaters

The parents obviously have little knowledge about food, so they have to do their best to learn. The kids end up eating a whole lot of frozen or prepackaged dinners. Often the parents are persuaded into getting way more junk food than usual by their kids saying it’s healthy, it’s a whole lot of “that doesn’t sound right but I don’t know enough about human food to dispute it”

Theres a lot about humans they don’t know. They’ve never needed to do first aid, they don’t know how they get sick, and if the kid is Afab, well no ghoul has a period so that’s gonna suck to figure out

Ghouls are a gamble when it comes to older kids, sometimes seeing teens as a threat, but could still take them in. If a teenager gets kicked out for whatever (likely bigoted) reason and finds a ghoul with a stable home, they’re more likely than a human to take them in

If they had close ghoul siblings, by the time they’re adults they sometimes go on hunts with them. RIP to other humans but they’re built different

Adopting a human is a mutually beneficial thing. The child gets a loving home and the parents get a living breathing diversion from suspicion. Hard to suspect your neighbors of being ghouls when you see their son happily eat his food or scraps his knee on pavement

These kids, as they grow up, are safer from other ghouls than most people. They smell like their ghoul family, they know ghoul identities, and they know how to spot fake eating and hunting methods. All ghouls need to do is smell that they reek of ghoul and know that clearly someone has already claimed this person as theirs and might kill them if they hunt this human

Because of all this, if Kaneki had been taken in by a ghoul, I doubt he ever would have been involved in the steel beam incident to begin with. He would probably know that Anteiku is a ghoul haven and Rize probably would have avoided hunting a claimed human

ok im just gonna do this bulletpoint style cause its still too soon for me to coherently write any deltarune thinkpieces LMAO but heres my thoughts:

fucking LOVED the music in this chapter. ngl i had no clue how toby was gonna top deltarune chapter 1 but he fucking DID?? cyber fields may actually be one of my top 5 favorite songs now between undertale AND deltarune chapter 1. it is just genuinely phenomenal. i also really love the song in the queens castle and B I G S H O T

speaking of big shot, idk abt yall but the only parts of the game where i felt genuinely disconcerted were whenever spamton was on screen. hes very similar to jevil but while jevils motif is KIND of based in something human, spamton feels distinctly inhuman by comparison... like proper uncanny valley. its really really creepy fkjlsdfs (in a good way tho LMAO)

the queen is 100% my favorite villain as of yet. her character reminds me a LOT of roxy from homestuck and i wouldnt be surprised if there was a bit of homestuck influence there (cause like... her typing quirk is literally kanayas typing quirk sdkfjsdfs). i was fucking DYING every time Kris Get The Banana popped up. shes also a pretty good parody of the villain redemption arc too given how quickly she flips upon finding out that the world would be destroyed if they opened more dark fountains LMAO

i was at the edge of my seat throughout the entire ending sequence, just waiting to see what the fuck was gonna happen - it was paced super well and was really really suspenseful. its clear to me now that kris is the one who keeps opening up the dark fountains as a form of some kind of escapism, and may be the knight themselves, but WHAT theyre escaping from is what really interests me. whatever it is, i believe it definitely has something to do with their family situation

asgore being a former police officer who was forced to resign is REALLY fascinating, but also somewhat concerning to me. i dont think toby would try to get too Real World Subtext with it, but i am sincerely hoping this doesnt end up being a thinly veiled allegory for some version of police brutality, especially given that asgore in undertale was just killing every human that fell into the underground because it was “his duty”

in chapter 1 i was thinking that the bunker at the south of town could maybe be the original entrance to the underground, but the conversation you stumble upon down there strongly suggests its something else, and whatever it is, i think it caused kris some pretty severe trauma since monster kid mocks them for being a “scaredy cat” after they saw what was inside. this actually supports my personal theory that the game is not a direct sequel, but rather some kind of timeline-adjacent alternate universe in which monsters were never pushed into the underground

like in undertale, kris being the only human is still notable here - theres a book the player can read upstairs called something like “how to care for a human,” which the flavor text notes that toriel has apparently checked out dozens of times over the years. so when toriel calls the police after finding her cars tires slashed, i wonder if she was able to be so calm about it because it had happened before.

on a somewhat lighter note, the exchange between sans, toriel, and asgore in the grocery store was SO. FUCKING. AWKWARD. THAT ILL TIMED JOKE BY ASGORE AND THEN HIS ENSUING AWKWARD CONVERSATION WITH SANS AFTER TRYING TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO “WIN HER BACK”.... MY GOD THE SECONDHAND EMBARRASSMENT I FELT

and my last thing (for now) is that i am extremely curious about kris’s ability to rip their soul out, seemingly at will, and to put it back in when they want. i havent yet figured out what the correlation is - what we know is that both times weve seen them do this, they have drawn a knife (to steal slices of pie LMAO), and, presumably, slashed the tires of their mothers car. their reasons for doing the latter are still pretty unclear to me, but perhaps theres some sort of ritual-type steps a person has to take in order to open up a dark fountain, and cutting things up is a part of it? i truly have no idea but this is my best guess atm

Chihiro is written to mock trans women, to say that in reality trans women are secretly men, she is a man who is weak and uses being trans as a way to escape her problems, this is a thing that is also said to trans men a lot, that theyre just trying to avoid the hard parts of being a woman by becoming a man. Even if the writters intended it to be like that or not (which they probably did because transphobia is a big thing that happens a lot, obviously) it's still transmisogynistic. Thats that on that

This is a pretty common transphobic trope actually, the "Turns out this one character was actually from the opposite sex??!!", theres more examples of this in other games outside Danganronpa.

But also her experience is pretty different from other examples, her experiences are way too similar with trans womens experiences.

These dialogues can be read in two ways, the first one being the one the game tries the hardest to put in your head thats shes a man, all of this guessed by other people btw not what she herself says. Which is really transphobic, because she was written as a trans woman and then theyre like "uh no actually hes a man, because he was born as one but hes a coward so he started to dress as a woman to hide from his problems. Because thats what people do right? People who dress as their oppossite gender are so pathetic, specially men amiright? Ahaha"

Reading it in this way really weird, you're doing a lot of mental gymnastics because you would literally call her a trans woman with all of this if the rest of the trial, that consists of cis people assuming shes a man, didn't happen. And sadly you're following transphobic ideas by this. Because the canon is transphobic and transmysoginistic.

And the other way is just read what she says, that she just wants to be stronger and stop lying to everyone, basically about being cis, because shes not, shes amab (assigned male at birth) and thats probably what she said to Mondo, but most people when a trans person who already passes or is in their transition comes out many people tend to think "oh so youre your gender assigned at birth and not the one you claim to be?", because they don't get what being trans is and they think only "biological gender" is a thing. Basically, misgendering and invalidating the trans person.

I can guess all of this just because of how vague they decided to make her dialogue, not even showing how she tells Mondo about being amab.

What did she said to Mondo? "I'm trans"? "I'm a man"? "I was born a man"? We dont know, because they didn't show it and she died right afterwards and then everyone was like "Chihiro was secretly a man" to solve the case and thats it. A lot of people in the discourse get their information from Monokuma who isn't either Chihiro or even Mondo. Monokuma knows many things but he can't read minds to know if she was really trans or not, only she could say it but she died so she couldn't explain if shes trans or not.

There is a lot to unpack here, but I want to start with something that specifically hurts me as a trans woman, and that's how the game flippantly uses real world horrors trans people face as shocking reveals and twists. You can go down the list for "worst nightmares" of trans people incluiding:

Threatening to be outed against your wishes

Having your body and privacy examined and invaded

Specially after so many people tell her to basically man up when she doesn't want that, because shes not a man.

Have you ever heard of the classic stories of "since I was little i knew i was different, i was a boy who liked playing with dolls and was more feminine than the rest" or "i used to be a tomboy when i was little, i had mostly male friends, i liked playing with car toys and was more masculine than other kids" coming from trans people? This just sounds as these types of stories to me.

People also like to say that alter ego uses he/him pronouns and says shes a boy. Many trans people can misgender themselves for personal reasons too guys, she could've been trying to misgender herself because she didn't felt like she wasn't enough to be a real woman, this happens a lot to trans people. If people constantly tell you that you're not actually transgender or you just feel like you're faking it then you might actually believe it, thats were most "detransitioners" come from. And thats basically what they made her, a detransitioner.

Some of you might also don't get how shes trans because you think she doesn't perfect or exact trans stereotypes. Trans experiences can be similar on the feeling of not fitting in, dysphoria, etc. But trans experiences, stories, transitions and complete lifes can be very different, because we all (including cis people) live different lifes, experience, process and cope with things differently. So i can understand why you might not get her being trans coded at first, don't worry. But try instead of just not caring because you don't get it at the first try, to see what trans people say.

This whole discourse its mostly cis people talking over trans people about their own experiences (incluiding the dead trans coded characters experience) saying if theyre valid or not and denying stuff not wanting to learn anything, completely refusing to it because "In canon hes a boy" ok then in canon shes written in a transphobic way too but most of you don't care about that. You would rather call her a crossdresser than try to acknowledge how obviously trans coded she is and how thats used as transphobia.

The way most cis people act in this discourse is very transphobic to me to be honest, if you think you're a good ally but act like this then you should get more educated on the topic as a whole and about trans people too.
