"Who's Ai Di to you? ... Love and admiration aren't the same, you'd better think it through." "Are you talking about me, or reminding yourself?"
Look I'm sure every one of us has screamed at length about this exchange, what it says about chenai and baifan. But I also want us to consider:
What does this say about Chen Yi & Fan Zherui?
Yes I am here captaining this friend-ship, because you know what they both need? AN ACTUAL FUCKING FRIEND.
Consider, Fan Zherui is one of the only people Chen Yi doesn't have complicated feelings of duty or responsibility towards. Chen Yi seems to agree with Ai Di about how Fan Zherui has money/privilege to fall back on and isn't really IN the mafia like the rest of them are, who have to live and die by the brotherhood. He was pretty chill about Zherui being injured/lost somewhere...which is why Zherui could call Chen Yi and know he won't over-react like Ai Di would, because Chen Yi cares but he's not insane about that caring. And that's a good thing for them both. The stakes are lower in the relationship and so maybe they don't have to stress so hard or front so much with each other.
The fact that Zherui can so casually ask Chen Yi about his feelings for Ai Di--and his feelings for the Boss--and not get decked/stonewalled but just an equally pointed comment back, like that's exactly their friendship vibes, and it's such good vibes for them both! They can both be a bit more casually vulnerable and honest with each other than with anyone else, because hey, that's just A-Rui/Chen Yi, and also because they both understand each other in a way that their partners probably won't.
(Thank you @nibupei for also pointing out that post-canon, they both know what it's like to have the love of their lives go to jail for 4 years and have to fight tooth and nail just to be together with them again. And thank you @bunni-bun for calling them "bros in angst and holy matrimony" ahaha that's their ship name forever in my heart now)

okay i don't want to be THAT bitch but if El calls out Mike on his bullshit in s5 how the love confession was shit and untrue i do kinda want Mike to turn around and be like "okay well what do you love me for?" because let's be real girl would not have an answer for that 💀
and maybe it would be good to be the last thing that would make her go oh i've never loved him that way either
like yes she totally should throw everything in Mike's face cause she deserves so much better but let's not pretend like she's a good girlfriend to him and it's just Mike being the problem
this fucker has been depressed and struggling for months and like did she ever even ask how is he doing? not her fault but the fact that Mike has been struggling and never once thought about talking to El because he doesn't feel like he can be vulnerable with her? the fact that he pretends he's someone he's not because he feels like she wouldn't want him for who he is? seriously no hate to El i love her to bits and yes Mike is bigger asshole in this but we really need to stop acting like El is perfect and can do no wrong
and that one time in s4 when Mike actually tried to be vulnerable with her and let her know that he understands because he's been bullied his whole life and she just invalidates his feelings and completely dismisses him? i do understand her pov and what she meant but as someone who's also been bullied and have so many people invalidate my feelings and how it affected me and still affects me to this day all the time it really hurt to hear it. the way Mike's feelings are constantly being invalidated and dismissed by both the characters in the show and this fandom just because "others have it worse" really disgusts me
anyways i really just want to point out that this is a relationship. there are two people in this relationship and it all goes both ways. it's not just Mike being an asshole friend and a shitty boyfriend. El isn't really a great girlfriend either and when they were just hanging out together the whole summer it is on El too. they're both just kids trying to do their best and making mistakes we can acknowledge that both of them make some really questionable things so they both can grow and learn

Hi! Could you possibly offer insight about the new SAG podcasting guidelines on their website? I run a small fan podcast and am super confused about this issue. I've reached out to SAG and haven't received a response yet, but from what I've seen online from other podcasters it seems like they might now be discouraging fans from talking about movies/TV on podcasts. Is this true? Does this mean we should also stop posting about media in general as fans? Thank you!
Hi Anon!
I feel like I'm tapping the sign a lot, so I've decided that my first sign was too complicated and I've simplified it.
I believe the version of the post that is crawling around most often is the one Mr. Gaiman shared. For those of you who did not see my follow ups, I encourage you to look at this reblog version where I expanded and clarified.
The TL;DR version is as the above flow chart says: if a studio isn't asking you to do the thing, isn't paying you money, isn't signing a contract with you to do the thing, you're not scabbing.
So unless Amazon or whomever is bankrolling your podcasting endeavor, you're fine.
Note, if you're a podcast and you have ads that are like "You can buy these fancy shorts on Amazon! buy them today!" Amazon the books & fancy shorts sellers is not actually the same as Amazon the AMPTP studio. (even though they are, yes, but they aren't.) So if someone approaches you asking if they can buy an ad slot on your podcast: Fancy Shorts are in, Good Omens Season 2 is out.

the idea that they’re writing the season as they go so they’re seeing the reaction the audience has and that it (even in the smallest way possible) could have an impact on what happens this season (and in future seasons) is so wild to me. not saying that they’re seeing our response and saying “oh that sounds good, totally writing that in,” but it’s not impossible to say that they will see what the people want, realize the best way to generate buzz and excitement and increased viewership is to keep your fans happy, and then actually do something about it instead of killing characters/storylines just for kicks
911 has the opportunity to be that bitch even more than it already is and they shouldn’t squander it while they’re on top
