Hi! Could you possibly offer insight about the new SAG podcasting guidelines on their website? I run a small fan podcast and am super confused about this issue. I've reached out to SAG and haven't received a response yet, but from what I've seen online from other podcasters it seems like they might now be discouraging fans from talking about movies/TV on podcasts. Is this true? Does this mean we should also stop posting about media in general as fans? Thank you!

I feel like I'm tapping the sign a lot, so I've decided that my first sign was too complicated and I've simplified it.

I believe the version of the post that is crawling around most often is the one Mr. Gaiman shared. For those of you who did not see my follow ups, I encourage you to look at this reblog version where I expanded and clarified.

The TL;DR version is as the above flow chart says: if a studio isn't asking you to do the thing, isn't paying you money, isn't signing a contract with you to do the thing, you're not scabbing.

So unless Amazon or whomever is bankrolling your podcasting endeavor, you're fine.

Note, if you're a podcast and you have ads that are like "You can buy these fancy shorts on Amazon! buy them today!" Amazon the books & fancy shorts sellers is not actually the same as Amazon the AMPTP studio. (even though they are, yes, but they aren't.) So if someone approaches you asking if they can buy an ad slot on your podcast: Fancy Shorts are in, Good Omens Season 2 is out.

Man, I don't think people realize how absolutely insane The Adventures of Tintin (2011) is from a CG standpoint

The things they did with lighting, textures and water is still mind boggling. And the cinematography is excellent and it has some of the best transitions

I just finished S2 of heartstopper and oh my god??? It was actually so good??? It was way better than S1 they better make a third one goddamn

Some people somehow watched It's Okay To Not Be Okay and took from it that Gang-tae ends up as the caretaker of two people which is like, not the point at all or even accurate.

Because first of all, a "safety pin" or caretaker isn't what Moon-yeong actually needs in the first place, she has someone who runs around fixing all her messes and it isn't helping. What she really needs is family, and community, and warmth in her life which is what she gets from both brothers, not just Gang-tae. And Moon-yeong does learn how to control herself better but it's because she has people she cares about in her life, not just because Gang-tae stops her. (Almost stabbing her mom is a unique case that shouldn't be counted against her)

And Gang-tae isn't okay! He's depressed! He calls his life miserable, he isn't happy ever, he doesn't defend himself when he should, and he doesn't express his emotions. He needs Moon-yeong just as much as she needs him, because as much as he tries to convince himself that he can get emotional support from his brother, he can't! The very first time Sang-tae sees Gang-tae happy is when he's finally admitted to liking Moon-yeong.

And Sang-tae is more capable than Gang-tae is able to appreciate because he's been taking care of him for so long that he can't see the growth. Sang-tae shows that he's able to change, able to hold a job, and even able to be an illustrator. He is able to save a patient during a crisis. Gang-tae thought that caring for Sang-tae meant that he had to martyr himself, but he doesn't and he needed to know that.

Gang-tae and Moon-yeoung both need each other, and they also need and want Sang-tae, and while they all have huge problems, they become stronger by leaning on each other which is the whole point of the show.

Recent:

Parachute Padre. I can't find an image for Parachute Padre, but I actually re-read that today. Forever love it for the detail about how Paddy was happy again during the time out in France.

Public Health and Politics in the Age of Reform: Cholera, the State and the Royal Navy in Victorian Britain. This was on the optional reading list for uni last week, and was really interesting. No idea why it was on the list, but I had no complaints.

Current:

The Facemaker. I wish I could focus to read because... well. Books. But this is one of the ones with a bookmark in it and that I will pick up again as soon as I'm able.

There are a good few books for research stuff. For 'fun' there's The Winter King, but mostly my to-read pile are SAS-related, or regimental histories (which I consider fun but most people probably think is dry and boring).

one thing i absolutely loved about this ep was how clear was the difference between the lestat in Louis' memories and the lestat in Claudia's diaries.

according to Louis' narrative when Claudia was gone lestat was still there beside louis. maybe they were not the happiest couple in the world but they were still together. occasionally lestat would ask louis to fuck him in a very poetic way, or ask him to go to a concert or something and then he would just accept Louis' rejections and swear in french and fuck off.

then we're back to Claudia's diaries and BAM lestat is beating louis to death. saying incredibly cruel things to her and louis.

there being such a stark contrast was really interesting.

the thing i loved most about the film is chani obviously struggling with paul's choices. yeah eventually she does come to understand, but the process of getting there is probably the most normal thing she could do.

hey! if you're having trouble with darkest dungeon, and play on steam, you can always look through the workshop for difficulty reducing mods! there's quite a lot, and there's no shame in doing so.

So I went to West Horsley Place today.... (beware of my grinning mug under the cut)

And it was worth everything!! Well. Certainly the 150 miles each way and 6 hours in the car. Also, Crowley should be proud, M25 truly is a demonic invention 😈

But oh my god! It was a dream. And smaller than I imagined, actually. It is truly amazing how what you see on television can look completely different in real life. Button House looks huge in the show, but in reality, it's quite cosy 🥰

The weather was absolutely sweltering and so being outside was a nightmare for a person who doesn't really like the sun (yes, I am like a vampire) but the views were amazing and the gardens?? 😍😍😍

Inside was lovely and cool and I met the most famous resident of the house...

And as promised, I took two Elders on a little break from duties...
