Just a lil photo dump for ya’ll. Been having such a great time just relaxing and eating good food by the water. It would come as a shock to most other restaurant patrons down here, but believe it or not oysters, grouper, and tuna taste just as great with sweet tea as they do with beer 🤔😂 We still have a few more days to spend down here before returning back to the real world. Hello world

So how do you start something that’s been poking at you for ages…..you only get a single opportunity at your first post. “what if its misinterpreted, poorly written, lacks substance or I can’t capture the moment”… This is the world my ruminating brain presents to me, highlighting a complete catastrophe before the first step is taken therefore paralyzing me. Fear and god can’t be used in the same sentence and God has placed me here, abroad in Cebu City to be precise. This is my world. The sun is shining, I’m jet lagged, poorly nourished after economy class catering and excited. I remember a friend once asking me in 2014 what I thought I was “suppose” to do, as if god were asking me I answered, “I believe I’m supposed to wander for awhile”. I’m 33 years old, from California, I have been sober for 10 years, I am not married, no children and not sure where I’m heading in this life. Travel is my passion. Experiencing, conversing, planning, reading and wanderlust-ing consume me. For years I wanted to write about what the world looks like from a recovering addicts perspective (the above about fear may resonate with a few). I will fill in the blanks about my history as we move along. I look forward to our journey together.

Tag 3423 / Manche bleiben den ganzen Sommer.

Morgens "Je ne regrette rien" im Ohr. Auch an Vati gedacht. Ich wollte um Viertel vor das Zimmer verlassen und bin um 52 raus. Für mich ist das grandios.

Ja, manche bleiben noch. Manche bleiben länger. Manche bleiben den ganzen Sommer. Manche haben hier ein Haus, manche eine Wohnung. Manche kommen immer hierher. Manche wollen vielleicht hier weg und wissen nicht wie. Manche werden hier nie herkommen. Ich hatte neun Tage, acht Nächte. Es war wunderschön. Insgesamt dadurch, dass ich hier baden konnte, hat Nizza eigentlich Barcelona überholt. Aber es geht gar nicht darum, wer an erster Stelle steht. Ich hatte schon befürchtet, dass ich keinen Urlaub mehr machen kann, wo ich so tief berührt werde. Aber hier war wirklich alles ziemlich, ziemlich toll und ich weine jetzt schon. Um 15:30 Uhr nochmal am Strand. Aber ich hab doch meinen Wannsee, meine Katzella. Ich hab Angst vor der neuen Sache. In 16 Tagen sitze ich schon wieder im Flugzeug. Ich kann wieder in meine Meetings, in meine Schwimmbäder. Ich kann wieder Fahrradfahren. Das wird total der Kulturschock. Ich bin wirklich dankbar, dass ich hier war, was ich hier erleben durfte. Ich muss jetzt endlich Adé sagen, Au revoir.

Es war leichter, sich zu verabschieden, als die Sonne noch nicht wieder zurück hinter den Wolken vorgekommen war.

Tag 3422 / Tagesbeginn

Ich komme raus: die Luft, die Wärme - ich muss lächeln.

Der Orangensaft: köstlich, der Fruchtsalat: köstlich, das pain au chocolat: köstlich, das Baguette ohne Margarine und ohne Butter: köstlich, der Kaffee: köstlich! Das glitzernde Meer, die startenden Flugzeuge, die Rettungsschwimmer in ihrem Turm, die im Wasser, die mit ihren Sonnenschirmen, gestreifte Sonnenschirme, gemusterte Sonnenschirme, einfarbige Sonnenschirme, Familien, Menschen alleine, Paare, Freunde. Die meisten schwimmen vorne, manche schwimmen weiter in der Mitte, und ganz wenige schwimmen ganz weit raus. Menschen auf einem SUP-Board. Die Jogger, Radfahrer, die Elektrorollerfahrer. Dahinten sind richtige Surfer. Das Meer glitzert. So schön, die Wellenbewegungen, ganz sanft. Die Geräusche von Flip Flops. Das Panorama der Stadt. Ein bisschen anstrengend, die Autos auf der Promenade. Sonne, der Himmel in verschiedenen Hellblautönen bis zu Weiß. Das Meer, noch nicht Azurblau, sondern Hellblau, an manchen Stellen vielleicht Blau, aber dieses Türkis-Azur, das kommt erst zum Nachmittag.

Tag 3421 / Ich hatte echt Glück: Keiner hat geraucht

Keiner hat Alkohol getrunken. Bis auf die Familie aus Skandinavien hat kaum einer geredet. Das war ne gute Stelle zum Wassereinstieg. Ich habe Fische gesehen, das erste Mal hier. Glückliche Momente, kaum Panik.
