　　1) 三維模型的建立

　　由於實現快速成型的系統只能接RP受計算機構造的產品三維模型 (立體圖 ) ，然後才能進行切片處理 ，因此 ，首先應在計算機上實3D列印現設計思想的數字化，即將產品的形狀、特性等數據輸入到計算機中。 目前快速成型機的數據輸入主要有兩種途徑：一是設計人員利用計算機輔助設計軟件 (如 Pro /Engineering ， SolidWo rks， IDEAS， M DT， Auto CAD等 ) ，根據產品的要求設計三維模型 ，或將已有產品的二維三視圖轉換為三維模型； 另一種是對已有的實物進行數字化 ， 這些實物可以是手工模型、工藝品或人體器官等。這些實物的形體信息可以通過三維數字化儀、 CT和 MRI等手段采集處理 ，然後通過相應的軟件將獲得的形體信息等數據轉化為快速成型機所能接受的輸入數據 。

　　2) 三維模型的近似處理

　　由於產品上往往有一些不規則的自由曲面 ，因此加工前必須對其進行近似處理。在目前快速成型系統中 ，最常見的近似處理方法是 ，打樣用一系列的小三角形平面來逼近自由曲面 。其中 ，每一個三角形用 3個頂點的坐標和 1個法相量來描述。三角形樣品的大小是可以選擇的 ，從而能得到不同的曲面近似精度。經過上述近似處理的三維模型文件稱為 STL格式文件 (許多 CAD軟件都提供了此項功能 ，如Pro/Engineering ， SolidW orks， IDEAS， Auto C AD， M DT等 ) ，它由一系列相連的空間三角形組成 。典型的計算機輔助設計都有轉換和輸出 ST L格式文件的接口 ，但是 ，有時輸出的三角形會有少量錯誤，需要進行局部的修改。

　　3)三維模型的切片處理

　　由於快速成型是按一層層截面輪廓來進行加工 ，因此 ，加工前必須從三維模型上沿成型的高度方向 ，每隔一定的間隔進行切片處理 ，以便提取截面的輪廓 。逆向工程間隔的大小根據被成型件精度和生產率的要求選定 ，間隔愈小 ，精度愈高 ，成型時間愈長；間隔的範圍為 0。 05～ 0。 5 mm ， 常用 0。 1 m m左右 ，在此取值下 ，能得到相當光滑的成型曲面 。切片間隔選定之後 ，成型時每層疊加的材料厚度應與其相適應。各種快速成型系統都帶有切片處理軟件 ，能自動提取模型的截面輪廓。
