Hello everyone! Just wanted to send a bunch of love to qsmpblr, especially any folks who've been flooding my notifications with reblogs, likes, and replies! It's been awhile since I've been so actively engaged in fandom content, and QSMP Purgatory hooked my previously dormant competitive side! It's been a joy to liveblog, so when I realized that this was the best time for me to step back, I decided I should let the peoples know!

So, here's some housekeeping (predictions) from this blog before I go!

I will not be watching the rest of QSMP Purgatory live, but I will be watching VODs sometime late next week! May the best team win!

I do think Soulfire has the best chances of winning, since we're not certain how many of the following days will be counted as wins, which makes me doubt if a tie could even be secured if the players wanted it. If the ultimate results are decided by the event, I do still believe Soulfire is better prepared to take on whatever it is, since for the previous event they weren't in the position to try like they could've. They've got the numbers now too! For the last event, Bolas did say part of their win was contributed to having support from Bad, Tina, and Niki. While the new lineup for Bolas is great, I do think something essential will be missed with the absence of Jaiden for the week, likely Carre as well, Foolish today, and the sort of fatigue Philza and Charlie have been exhibiting (my streamers weren't built for this, but they're trying!).

For the cursed team, I originally thought last week that it was Soulfire! I forgot my reasons for why unfortunately, so I'm going for it and switching my prediction to Bolas. My reasoning is all the specialized train tickets belonging to red team members, and how ElQuackity wouldn't count since it was meant to be Quackity's. I also don't think ElQuackity being on a team makes it cursed, since Green Gay Ninjas were confirmed to not be. However, I feel like there's a lot of ways you can interpret the messages of the eggs, especially the biomes they're filmed in, and the players who were being analyzed in the videos shown during Purgatory Day 1! On that note, I do lean more towards Cellbit's theory, which I believe is that there is no officially cursed team, that it doesn't matter who wins. Either all or some eggs will be saved, if the Purgatory Eye actually does have a say over their wellbeing, but not all of them will die. Excited to find out how that goes!

If it does end up being a scenario where a winning team has to choose which eggs to save, my pinned post analyzes who they're likely to save and why, based on who's an egg parent and who's said they'd vouch! I think there's been some misinterpretation, in that the names listed are who a team is going to save, so I've tiered the list by numbers! If it's a some eggs scenario, each team collectively would want to vouch for all eggs, save for red team regarding ramon, which I doubt is how many they'll be permitted to save! Mayhaps a revolution will be staged if this is the case? Can't wait to find out!

Guess who found your fic on ao3 at 11pm, not noticing the 108k words on the bottom and got so hooked even by the half quarter of the first chapter that resulted in her staying awake until 10 am, reading all 108k words in one sitting. Yes me. Me, who got so hooked she read it all in one sitting. Me, who’s now so emotionally attached to this fic that she’s anxious about your comments under the chapters, stating that THE MAIN PLOT hasn’t even STARTED YET. Me, who knows DAMN WELL the little caterpillars and butterflies and the moths story Megumi and y/n read out is for sure foreshadowing. Me, who’s noticed several butterfly symbolism used over the course of the story. Me, who screamed into her pillow when it was stated that y/n’a dress resembled a butterfly. Me, who’s seen your comment replying to someone, stating that there MIGHT be some kind of drifting apart. Me, who’s well ware of the Heavy Angst tag on the fic. Me, who knows that an author who’s this good at delivering humor and fluff is gonna DESTROY me when the angst is gonna be written. Me, who half regrets now that she’s discovered the story because she’s scared of all that’s about to come.

You seriously have a way with words, dialogue, symbolism, humor, the bond between every character. It’s not so simple to put more than 5 characters in a setting and deal with them all while trying to make it as natural as possible but you SOMEHOW do it SO WELL. I’m just. God. All the thoughts I have on this fic would maybe even rival the 108k words you’ve written up until now but I don’t have the capacity to put them into words as well as you do.

just know that this fic impacted me so much, so badly, years from now on after it's finished, I'll still think about it and re-read it.

so excited (and scared as hell ngl) to see where you'll be going with this story. I may havw joined late but I am sticking around till the end.

it was definitely not a LATE arrival per se — the liar, liar family is still pretty small. i’ve only got about 321 followers, so definitely not as much as the bigger jjk writers on here, and half of those are split between my megumi fic readers and levi fic readers. i now consider you an og just bc this analysis was so in depth and interesting, i found myself smiling so hard my cheeks hurt 🙂‍↔️

one of my friends is a biologist & i was really amused hearing some of her stories yesterday because they put into context just how believable newt's kaiju drift is as Shit A Biologist Would Do. like my friend has personally met both a guy who got infected with a botfly larva and didn't do anything to remove it (because he just didn't mind), and another guy who identified a tapeworm species by intentionally exposing himself to it (he had it narrowed down to 2 species and needed to know if it was the one that would infect humans) (it was)

had a terrible thought but if hgsn came out like seven or more years ago you know for a fact that the general fandom would have Hikaru and ‘Hikaru’ be twins so there could be a love triangle between them and yoshiki. The top fics would have ‘Hikaru’ be mischaracterized as a zany yandere and Hikaru would be a wooden plank that Yoshiki occasionally thinks about when he isn’t smooching ‘Hikaru’. There’d be discourse on ‘hikaru’ x hikaru selfcest/twincest shippers. ‘Hikaru’ would have some fanon name like Urakih or smth like that. Also people would make Yoshiki shorter than ‘hikaru’.

youd think that making a story that kind of hinges on its conclusion would mean that i would get around to actually writing the outline of that extremely important conclusion one of these days but no ive been putting that off for multiple fuckin years

ok the thing that is grinding my gears more than anything about the whole luffy thing is i keep thinking about what we could have gotten if the federation didn't re-kidnap luffy. like. ok.

right now, the federation has luffy. therefore, even if the islanders WANTED to, they CAN'T give luffy to the eye workers. they can't access the federation offices to get to luffy themselves, and the eye workers refuse to listen when the islanders try to explain this to them. the islanders are stuck.

NOW. imagine the islanders DID have luffy. imagine luffy has been puttering around with them the WHOLE TIME.

now they really have to have the conversation amongst themselves of DO WE GIVE LUFFY TO THE EYE WORKERS. nobody's really had this conversation to any serious degree since they CAN'T, it's just a hypothetical. in OUR hypothetical, it's REAL and it's PRESSING. do we risk the lives of our eggs to protect this eye creature? we don't know what its intentions are, we don't know if we can trust it. is it an extension of the big eye or is it just a silly creature? like, who's the first person to say, "fuck this thing, my egg is what's most important" ? WHAT WOULD THEY DO ONCE EMPANADA LOST A LIFE TO THE WORKERS? WOULD THEY NOW TURN IN LUFFY TO PROTECT THE REST OF THEIR CHILDREN? ARE THEY WRACKED WITH GUILT OVER THE FACT THAT THEIR INACTION WAS THE CAUSE OF AN EGG'S DEATH? because right now, it's the federation's fault that the eye workers are still fucking here. the islanders have no way to chase them off. but IF THE ISLANDERS HAD LUFFY? now em's death is their fault. WHO'S THE FIRST TO TURN THEIR BACK ON LUFFY FOR THEIR CHILD.

is em's death enough to make bagi turn her back on luffy?? LUFFY DREW HER WHEN ASKED WHO HIS FRIENDS WERE, luffy hung out with her and tina after the egg event and gave them a pretty boat and walked them home and he was green's Little Buddy bagi LOVES that fucking creature, NOW WHAT? when she KNOWS that her choice to protect luffy from presumed danger had been the cause of em losing a life?? they can't even be 100% sure if they NEED to protect luffy from the workers, if luffy's actually in any danger. like i don't personally think bagi would turn on luffy but I DON'T KNOW THAT AND I WANT TO. at the very least it would be so interesting to see her decision making process, if she struggles with the choice or sticks with her principles or WHAT. it'd be SO COOL.

and how do the EGGS react to all this? we know that phil wanted to protect luffy, and that chayanne was willing to come to his side, and i'm guessing bagi would want to protect luffy as well, but tallulah has already shown she HATES egg island and all reminders, and now phil wants to protect luffy? and then tallulah warms to empanada and then EM DIES TO THE EYE WORKERS BECAUSE THEY WOULDN'T GIVE UP LUFFY? i'm FEASTING. like what do em, sunny, and pepito think of the eye guys even?? would they ALSO be distrusting of luffy? and now how does that affect their parents' view on luffy?? what does LEO think???? she HATED the very IDEA of foolish even TALKING to em, sunny, and pepito and those were EGGS, now imagine it's this one eyed creature that looks so very like the one eyed freak that directly and PERSONALLY kept her and her dad separated and put her ENTIRE FAMILY in danger, NOW WHAT?

and NEED I REMIND YOU, if the islanders have luffy then all it takes is ONE person to decide that they're done with the eye workers threatening them and to throw luffy to the wolves no matter what the other parents say. would not be hard. THEN WHAT. ONE PERSON SAYS FUCK IT AND LUFFY IS GONE. WHAT DO ALL OF LUFFY'S PROTECTORS HAVE TO SAY TO THAT.

i'm frothing at the mouth at all the interpersonal drama this could have caused. tasty, delicious challenging of viewpoints.....

I've been memeing on Dazai and leaning on the theories that's its all his plan he's doing this to convince fyodor and Sigma etc but it didn't hit me at all till watching episode 8 that he may have been genuinely trying to reach Chuuya by mentioning their partnership

Like I do think Dazai was being honest in that speech but the anime has made me think he is trying to get into chuuya's head and ch 109 kept springing up in my mind while watching

That implies that there isn't a 100% certainty he's conscious yet in ch 109

But Dazai has already placed his trust and life on Chuuya at that point too

Fuck it, I’m starting a music magazine

I went and made a(nother) Wordpress blog yesterday. I’ll launch it after I’m done moving but it’s coming. Mainly it’s so that I can impress the folks at Exclaim! and start writing for them, but if I started a Tumblr for it, would you all pretend to be excited every time I post?

It’s @soundslivemagazine! Get it because there are sounds, and they are live, and something sounds live and alive, I’m happy with the name! (Unless you guys think otherwise? I’m just hoping the name isn’t so generic that it gets lost, but also this is so local and on the ground. It’s not the next Pitchfork or anything, no pressure on me. That said if you want to see whether following is worth your time, my other ‘music journalism’ stuff is here on the #music tag)
