I can't believe people give advice that's basically "be less stressed". How can I explain to you that I've been scared of walking down the stairs since I learned to walk and I get an intrusive thought every time I cross a road. And then I have a lot more, actually real and important stuff to be anxious about!!

shogun (book) does the 'characters speaking in multiple languages' thing the best ive ever seen its so fuckign. the 'defaults' are typically either portugese or japanese and so those are written normally, with the exception that the japanese we hear from blackthornes perspective is either unintelligible (not direct quotes) or short words and phrases that he picks up (things like wakarimasuka and kinjuru are written just like that, and we the english reader learn what they mean as blackthorne does, so dont need translations evey time). japanese when heard from a japanese character's perspective is written in normal english, because its still the default, its their first, usually only, language. but it gets funky when youre speaking, say, latin, which they do sometimes. because blackthorne knows it fluently, but its not his first language (though neither is portugese) and its not the one he uses the most. so its written recognizably to us, an english-speaking reader, but in a way that makes it clear it is NOT portugese (default). so its written in this kind of old-englishy very elaborate style, with thees and thous and -ith at the ends of verbs and even just a different grammatical structure than normal english. "who giveth the sign? with importance it should be given quickly." <- not a sentence that comes naturally to english but it is A: recognizable as of the meaning and B: clearly Different. it signals theyre speaking latin even when the whole book is written in English and i think its NEAT

#shogun #im really liking this book dude. its a really interesting style but i dig it #the perspective hops around a bunch but most modern books split it cleaner #this chapter is from A perspective and this chapter is from B perspective OR you get a mix of everyone at once (true omniscent)#but this isnt either of those. it flips between character's minds without clear indication when the flip happens #so u read a chapter that starts from blackthorne's perspective and halfway through it switched to mariko's and you can only tell because #the narration now includes knowledge of what is being said in japanese. and then it switches to toranagas and youre seeing him think about #whatever plan hes concocting and then its back to mariko and she doesnt have all the information you just learned #there was a chapter with all the portugese priests together and it flipped between them so much and they got way into like. backstory shit #and thinking about what happened to get them here what they think should happen next and they didnt all agree #and its not CONFUSING but it is confusing sometimes. u understand #its really interesting tho i like it a lot #and also i actually like blackthorne more in the book than in the show. in the book hes worse #hes more brash and messy and selfish and hes just more of a dickhead and hes more clueless #all things he is in the show but they sanded him down a bit to make him a better love interest/main character #which is TRAGIC. hes so sucks in the book hes more fun and interesting. i like eet

#duck speaks #they were going through a brain that was elementary school themed (like an elementary school but if it were weird mostly)#Otto and Bob had apparently already went in but they got lost or something so they went to find them and get them out #Helmut and Lucy and Cassie were sitting this one out I think. having fun elsewhere #a lot of the dream was like. going through a the halls and looking in the rooms (while also trying not to distract the kids)#or sometimes when you went in a room it would teleport you into a seat and you'd have to answer the questions correctly to get out #if you did something wrong it would restart I think #in one of the rooms though there was a flower pot with like.#a toy flower that had been grown really tall and large so that it could reach an open ceiling panel #oh I forgot to mention that this brain would make you small. shrunk #also for some reason Compton was leading this and Ford was following and doing what he said ?#he was kinda nervous and seemed like mostly he was winging it but Ford trusted him #anyways.#they figured that probably Bob grew that plant. which means him and Otto probably went up there #when they got into the ceiling it switched to be like. a neighbor and bus drop off ?#and they were in the bus but there was no driver. Ford took the driver's place and Compton would tell him which way to go #they drove around and helped kids (one of them brought their dog on the bus and it ran out the door and Compton had to go get it back)#but Bob and Otto weren't anywhere to be seen #I think they saw another plant somewhere but I woke up before they could check it out #I hope they found them wherever that one wouldn't taken them #psychonauts #<- forgot that #this is just what my dreams are like btw #they're beautiful and vivid and colorful and they always tell me some kind of story :]#and characters love to be in them also

the amount of surprised pika “wait people actually shave their arms?” comments on posts about body hair are so funny like I unironically am so happy for you that you weren’t laughed at by a classmate for having hairy arms “like a man” in like 4th grade this is why I wish body hair conversations would stop centering around armpit hair

#okay that’s the tldr but the way I actually remember it is that the classmate (a boy) pointed out my arm hair and ask why so hairy #and I genuinely was so confused I was just like idk??? and then later at home that day I asked my mom about it and she was like #It’s bc your dads side of the family is hairy so then I later talked to that guy again like ‘I take after my dad’ or whatever #And /then/ is when he laughed and was like ‘but you’re a girl’ about it #Granted I’m non-binary but like I didn’t know that in elementary #Plus I didn’t stop shaving until around mid 2010s and was still self conscious about it for years #Like I remember feeling embarrassed during college (2018ish) if I had to use the rest room and someone else was in there when I would roll #My sleeves up to wash my hands #Anyways I eventually stopped caring about it sometime within the last year or 2 but see how long that took? It really shouldnt #Like some of us just genetically have more darker thicker visible body hair than others and we shouldn’t be shamed for it #One thing at a time though because even I’m still working through leg hair shame #I don’t shave them anymore but I also haven’t worn shorts outside of my bedroom in years #I’ll literally switch into shorts if it’s too hot right before bed and switch back into pants before stepping out of my room in the morning #I’ve been feeling cute the past few days and it’s starting to warm up again plus also had a convo w mom recently so #I might change that soon but only within the house still bc baby steps <3 #Anyways I’m just rambling now so I should stop. There are a couple tropes I really love in the space of Miraculous Ladybug fan works, but quite possibly my favorite is when the miraculous holders just get creature from using their powers.

Like yeah, I would say that hosting the power of an abstract concept given sentience, that got shoved into the shape of an animal and bound to a piece of jewelry, would kinda mess with your body a bit.

The little bit of this we get in canon is basically that Adrien loves being a cat and the whole Tikki munches incident.

But I love it when people give them ears and wings and tails, give them eyes that aren't quite human anymore. Fuck with their gender and their sense of body. Sometimes it's body horror, sometimes it's just aesthetic. Love it either way.

I just think it's so fun, a lot of the time it's combined with the like "when a holder and the kawami really respect and bond with each other there's nothing that can be done except having magic bleed into the holder" I think that's fun, but also just making the animal of the kwami a bigger deal is fun. Like if you're going to make it a ladybug you might as well give her wings and antenna and mirrored eyes.

#yes I do like ml #there's just so many characters I like to mess with in my head #also sue me I'm trans and have a certain respect for body horror. for the forced change of your physical self especially when you chose it #anyway I alwasys ramble in the tags #I set up this side blog to hide random writing thoughts I had and oh boy do I have a lot and none of them are on here #and recenetly (and by recently I mean like the past year) I've been hit with so many ml thoughts)#they're all gay #and some of them are cohesive #actually a lot of them revolve around chloe and au's where she gets a meaningful improvement arc #give that gay girl intresting stuff #miraculous ladybug #ml #although one of my ideas is also my very fun very gender take of ml where to conceal their identities ladybug and chat start pretending #to be different people under the masks like they don't need to like explicitly say. they just #switch costumes a lot and they like slyly hint at maybe theres dozens of people who pass around the miraculous to make sure that their #Identities are always safe #and to support the act they also start changing the genders they present as as holders. everyone is like “it's clearly multiple people”#and during this process marinette and Adrien are both like slowly having personal gender revelations #and gabe is like tearing his hair out over having to fight this secret group of superheros that he can never find or catch #but he's still just getting his ass kicked by two kids who're doing the world's most successful costumes change bits #it's like those “fake dating” tropes where they're like “oh but we really do love each other” but with gender #“oh I've got a great idea lets pretend to be different genders sometimes”#cut to “hmh ok so I think I'm not pretending anymore”#oh I do always ramble in the tags

#dead space #reblogging appreciated im genuinely very interested #i typically do 3 #sometimes 4 #plasma cutter + something short range + something long range #usually flame thrower/force gun + pulse rifle #i don't like the contact beam or the line gun that much bc they're too powerful lmao #altho the line gun's alt fire in the remake is soooo satisfying #but also i've watched a lot of people play the remake and i kinda feel terrible for the people who go in blind and #end up carrying every single weapon they pick up with them sdflskdj #that's a serious downside to the way they did it in the remake vs in the original where you had to buy it imo #like. i like the change for the remake a lot it's really cool to just find the weapons around the ship. that's sick as fuck #but i think it might confuse new players a bit and some people end up constantly out of ammo and having to switch guns #maybe that's the intended effect. i mean it's survival horror and all lol. but to me it looks absurdly frustrating #but maybe there's people who prefer to play that way? maybe im being judgemental lmao #but for the people playing blind i think they'd benefit from knowing that you can store weapons + ammo won't drop for stored weapons #polls
