#song of the day #another song off that same excellent concept playlist by losersimonriley #there's so many more Scottish bands added to my circulation now it's wonderful #this is a song specifically about Glasgow being his hometown so he uses more of his accent for it which I love #I've been pestering my brothers with accent and slang fun facts for a while now #more or less since the first time somebody had Soap use a particular Scottish saying in their CoD fic and made me go over all !!!!#'innsidh na geòidh as t'fhoghar e' translates to 'the geese will tell it in autumn' and reading that nearly made me explode #because when I was a small child and I asked my uncle too many 'why' questions he told me not to worry about it #that the geese would tell me next fall #amazing to me to find out decades later through Call of Duty fanfiction that that's an actual phrase #preserved for who knows how many generations between the first Scottish folks who must've brought it to Appalachia #and then eventually my Uncle Tommy who decided to use it to turn the aggravation tables around on a child #I'm thinking about that again now not just because it still blows my mind a little bit #(really truly had so firmly accepted it as just my Uncle Tommy trolling me with nonsense. it's such a thing he'd do)#but also because of a specific bit from the end of the song 'it's thirteen degrees and there's folk in the street in the scud'#that's just under 60F (a blissfully warm sunny day in Glasgow it seems) and 'in the scud' means 'naked'#which is also a thing I've almost heard from my family!#my aunts up the mountain and therefore also my father at times would say 'in the scuff' (my aunts with a little tilt to the vowel sound)#there was a sort of connotation of it being a silly or immature or maybe drunken sort of naked. an unimpressive naked at least #like 'Tommy fell into the muddy end of the pond trying to catch that damnfool heron' (this is a true story btw. take that Uncle Tommy)#'when he got back his wife made him take off all his clothin in the yard and hose down first. had to walk into his house in th scuff'#and then all the old ladies cackle about Tommy walkin through his door 'both heads hangin low' and my dad winces a little bit #it's important I share all these memories with my siblings now. most of the family's dead and gone and the boys don't remember #very fun for me to tell the stories now and see Nick do the exact same wince at the slightly mean-spirited dick commentary #just a little family legacy in action. thank you Gerry Cinnamon #(in the spirit of song-of-the-day though I will share my favorite line without the contextual boost of silly ereborne family stories:#'I know a guy who's a lightweight one or two jars and he's buckled #he's the guy that loses keys has to break into his ain house and gets huckled'#ungodly fun to sing and I do know several of this guy. not related to them though. my whole family drinks like fish)

honestly want to shove my neighbor down a flight of stares. he is so fucking loud all night long and i havent gotten any good sleep because of him and my apartment complex nor the police do a damn thing about it

I think sapnap’s interview with anthony padilla was when I really latched onto him. he’s such a down to earth fella like what you see is what you get and he was just so real and cool talking abt how he actually loves his name and success being attached to his friends bc they helped him get here and how he’s always the same person really, just parts of him amplified authentically in the right situations. he’s just. such a cool guy.

23. Azerbaijan – Tell Me More

I actually really quite like this one! It’s so unlike anything you’d expect from Azerbaijan, it’s got that indie vibe to it which I enjoy – it feels very thrown together, in a good way. It’s lacking the polished production of previous Azerbaijani entries, but that’s a breath of fresh air honestly. The rap sections are a little awkward, but for me that’s part of their charm. The music starts out chill at first with the muted acoustic guitar, then ramps it up a little after the second chorus by bringing in electric guitars which I really like the sound of. I also like the melody on the chorus a lot, especially those notes on ‘me, you, us’ – it’s the first inversion of D major, sounding bright yet with a hint of melancholy. I could probably do without the voicemail section at the start, it’s pretty clunky, and the following spoken section does not work well live. In general I’ve not enjoyed this as much live at preparties than as in the studio cut, they’re not the strongest vocalists, but that doesn’t stop me liking the song for what it is. If this had come out earlier and I’d had longer with it, or hadn’t already cemented my feelings on the other rock tracks (or entries in semi 1 in general) I’d probably like it even more.

😍 Differently Okay Local Idiots series (One-EyedBossman (desert000rose), SecretFandomStories) - 137K series, Stucky no powers D/s AU - absolutely LOVED this!!!! both are recovering vets with many jagged edges and they see how they fit together - the narrative structure on this was great: dual POV, very tightly overlapping/interlocking (which could gone badly so easily but I really think these authors pull it off). Can't wait for more.

once again feeling sadt over not being in kakariko village.....

#ive only ever felt this way about a fictional place once before #but this time around its like. twice as strong #i just wanna be a humble little shopkeeper in kakariko village #maybe a delivery boy doing my routes early in the day and then spending the rest of my time exploring #playing with local village children or chatting up the neighbors #or maybe some days i'd stay inside and read a book and learn about the history of hyrule #daydream about visiting the castle and meeting the royal family or about a hero of legend visiting my town #maybe i have friends in the village. i dont talk to them all the time but they're fun to hang out and get in trouble with sometimes #there could be someone i like boy-next-door style. who knows #and at the end of a long day i'd sit at my window and look at the stars and hum a song to myself #just happy to be living a peaceful life in this little village called kakariko #in a beautiful country with a rich history and friendly people #in a comfy little home that's simplistic but it's mine and i like it #and i'd send a grateful prayer to hylia for it all and then drift off into dreamland....#i'd like that. i'd like that a lot.
