TOP 5 SONGS DAVID OGDEN STIERS COULD HAVE WON A TONY AWARD FOR IN THE GOOD TIMELINE WHERE HE BECAME A BIG SUPERSTAR BROADWAY ACTOR AND SINGER LIKE HE DESERVED
Music of the Night from Phantom. Obviously.
Stars from Les Mis. Sadly he never got the chance to play Javert in a stage production and was forced to play him on a sitcom for six years instead. Think of what we could have had!
Not The Boy Next Door from The Boy From Oz / I Am What I Am from La Cage aux Folles. Sorry I couldn’t choose a single gay anthem song so he gets to perform both. As a treat. On an unrelated note I am crying now
Edelweiss from The Sound of Music. Many casting directors don’t know this but it’s actually animal abuse not to allow a DOS to inhabit his proper ecological niche (repressed sexual tension filled ballroom dancing while wearing a fancy little outfit).
Aquarius/Let The Sunshine In from Hair. You! Gay hippie! Aren’t you tired of being typecast as a wealthy conservative stuffed shirt asshole. Don’t you just want to go ape shit.
In The Dark Of The Night from Anastasia. Also belongs to a separate list entitled Top 10 Animated Movies They Should Have Given Him A Role In Instead Of P*cah*ntas. The way he would have killed this………. Would’ve had a little accent all ready to go………. Wailing lamenting mourning etc.
OH! WELL I NEVER! WAS THERE EVER! A CAT SO CLEVER AS MAGICAL! MISTER! MISTOFFELEES! HIS MANNER IS VAGUE AND ALOOF! YOU WOULD THINK THERE WAS NOBODY SHYER! BUT HIS VOICE HAS BEEN HEARD ON THE ROOF! WHEN HE WAS CURLED UP BY THE FIIIIIIIRE—

I think sapnap’s interview with anthony padilla was when I really latched onto him. he’s such a down to earth fella like what you see is what you get and he was just so real and cool talking abt how he actually loves his name and success being attached to his friends bc they helped him get here and how he’s always the same person really, just parts of him amplified authentically in the right situations. he’s just. such a cool guy.

23. Azerbaijan – Tell Me More
I actually really quite like this one! It’s so unlike anything you’d expect from Azerbaijan, it’s got that indie vibe to it which I enjoy – it feels very thrown together, in a good way. It’s lacking the polished production of previous Azerbaijani entries, but that’s a breath of fresh air honestly. The rap sections are a little awkward, but for me that’s part of their charm. The music starts out chill at first with the muted acoustic guitar, then ramps it up a little after the second chorus by bringing in electric guitars which I really like the sound of. I also like the melody on the chorus a lot, especially those notes on ‘me, you, us’ – it’s the first inversion of D major, sounding bright yet with a hint of melancholy. I could probably do without the voicemail section at the start, it’s pretty clunky, and the following spoken section does not work well live. In general I’ve not enjoyed this as much live at preparties than as in the studio cut, they’re not the strongest vocalists, but that doesn’t stop me liking the song for what it is. If this had come out earlier and I’d had longer with it, or hadn’t already cemented my feelings on the other rock tracks (or entries in semi 1 in general) I’d probably like it even more.

My media this week (22-28 May 2022)
📚 STUFF I READ 📚
😊👂 Black Coffee (Hercule Poirot #7.5) (Agatha Christie, playwright; Charles Osborne, adapter/novelization; John Moffat, narrator) - you can definitely tell that the bones of this were a play; still an entertaining listen/read
😍 Differently Okay Local Idiots series (One-EyedBossman (desert000rose), SecretFandomStories) - 137K series, Stucky no powers D/s AU - absolutely LOVED this!!!! both are recovering vets with many jagged edges and they see how they fit together - the narrative structure on this was great: dual POV, very tightly overlapping/interlocking (which could gone badly so easily but I really think these authors pull it off). Can't wait for more.
🥰 Daddy Issues (His Boy Next Door #39) (RJ Moray) - novella - the next chapter in Jack & Channon's story
😊 K'diwa: A Steamy Novel of Interspecies Romance, by Jim Kirk (branwyn) - 103K, Kirk/Spock - tagged 'Jim is a sweet sad bottom and Spock can't stand it' and that's really what you need to know
💖💖 +128K of shorter fic so shout out to these I really loved 💖💖
It's A Very Distinctive Family Resemblance (copperbadge) - Leverage, MCU: Gen, 1.6K - I love every iteration of 'Eliot Spencer is related to Bucky Barnes'
Put It on Repeat, It Stays the Same (giselleslash) - MCU: Stucky, 20K - reread; love this story of these two pining FWB getting stuck together by a snowstorm and then ~~feelings~~
Rockin' and Rollin' (musette22) - MCU: Stucky, 3K - shout out to Minnie for taking up the challenge and writing some fucking delicious fic inspired by that mechanical bull riding video
fish in the sky (alby_mangroves, chaosmanor) - MCU: Stucky, 37K - http://ao3.org/works/27969167
