Okay so I was listening to “Give a Little Guy a Chance” again (as you do) and I kept thinking about Ucheshi’s reaction and then I said “If Ucheshi were the leader, she’d immediately say yes”…which led to this au

Soooooo I have thoughts….

-She’d definitely be a little more cocky in this au. Not as cocky as Makuu or Kiburi, but she wouldn’t be above rubbing stuff in animals’ faces

-Her challenging Pua to a mashindano would be so funny tho. It starts off so civilized and then it’s Ucheshi pulling a Looney Tunes and tricking Pua into agreeing to fight her

-Ucheshi would have waaaay too much fun battling Pua. She treats it as if it were a game

-Like my in-universe hc for her, she’s not a villain by any means. I like to imagine her as a neutral character if anything; an unbiased participant if you will. She respects the circle of life most of the time but she’ll let her crocs take over all the watering holes

-Like in the Savannah Summit, a lot of the animals would assume she’s here to cause trouble when in actuality, she’s pretty chill

-No but her in that episode would be so funny cuz Kion and Simba are talking about her and she just casually butts in like

Kion: I think Ucheshi has more enemies than friends

Ucheshi: *pops her head in* In my defense, so does Bunga

Kion: What the-?!

-not her breaking the fourth wall at one point or another/j

-Don’t be fooled, Makuu still has a role in the au. He’s mostly the one by her side supporting her

-I think Kiburi would be a little more respectful than he is with Makuu. Though their disagreements are still amusing to watch, especially with her using her title as an advantage

-That being said, he still challenges her to a mashindano and loses, which is admittedly still very hard on her

-Instead of Kiburi trying to hurt her like he does with Makuu, he repeatedly tries to get her to become evil

-Hodari would immediately become a part of the float after singing his song. If he goes to Kiburi’s float, it’s probably to try and get the siblings to reunite and make her proud of him

-Her and Kiburi’s dynamic would definitely stay the same lmao. Imagine her reaction when Kiburi finally challenges her

FINALLY FINISHED THIS ART PIECE

I cannot tell you how much I struggled but it was soooooo worth it. This is just a little wholesome angst for my version of MM!/Tottmnt Venus. On the left is Venus holding her little sister Lita. To the right is Dr Tyler Rockwell holding Venus (og post that explains story right here). I don’t know why I keep doing this trend of posting more stuff about these characters when I make artwork of them but I’m starting to think about starting another MM!/Tottmnt au after Difference Between the Appearance. So ignoring that random info dump. Here’s my opinion on how Venus acts like and what her relationship with each of the boys is like:

Her Personality: Venus is a very very very very VERY weird girl. Not like creepy wolf girl weird but like Luz(Owl House) and Marcy(Amphibia) weird. She doesn’t find disgust in the casual weird creatures she meets when her and brothers are getting into shenanigans. Part of this is formed because she was raised around yokai but it’s mainly because she tends to lean towards the bright side of things in very “Welp at least it’s not completely hideous” kind of attitude. But other than that she’s just your usual dorky K-pop loving artistic teenage girl(scratch that there is absolutely nothing normal about this chi overpowered weirdo of a turtle mutant . . . but she is a fellow kpop fan). But one thing that is definitely most unique about Vee that’s sets her apart from her brothers and Jennika is that she is very proud of and comfortable with being a mutant. She doesn’t care if society doesn’t think it’s ideal. She don’t care about society’s ideals period. If it means she gets to live as her true self, which was usually being shunned and forcefully molded into something different by Big Mama, she won’t mind being rejected or called weird. This concept is something that she has raised Lita in and she usually tries to get her fellow turtle mutants to understand as she is confused why they want to be normal instead of themselves.

Vee is a hug friend/family first make sure they’re ok later kind of gal. If you’re someone she cares about deeply and something goes down, she will immediately attack you with a bear hug. She is usually very physical about her affection towards others but can also be somewhat wise when it comes to self worth and personal issues that may be affecting them. But don’t mistake her for her huggable demeanor. If you mess with her or anyone she cares about, you are dead in the water and about to get your butt whupped sooo bad. She can be short tempered with enemies but patient with allies and people in pain who she understands far too well.

PS: Venus and the main turtles don’t become siblings immediately. Though she does live with them for a while she is not officially their sister until Splinter adopts her and Lita(which would happen a month or two after Vee and Splinter meet and Splinter trains her to join his sons in battle).

Anywho now for her relationship with her bros:

OJ and Arctic Blitz Gatorade: Venus and Mikey tend to be the batshit crazy duo. Always think of new crackhead ideas that their siblings could never begin to comprehend. One would stand on the other’s shoulders as they would try and reach for a vent to escape or just to snag the last pop-tart. Though Venus will tend to be a little more mature and aware of when things are getting too serious for jokes and games. They’re the 2 silly goobers of the group giving enemies nicknames. Mikey is actually the one who came up with the nickname Vee when they first met and in response Vee deemed him as Miguel. Speaking of when they met Mikey completely ignored the fact of how weird it was that they met another turtle mutant and immediately threw his trust into her hands and tried to get to her know her as much as he could. They also both try to avoid fighting the most and try to end matter’s peacefully or with a good joke.

Tech and Turquoise: Donnie and Venus probably have the closest relationship with each other out of all the brothers. They are an unstoppable in sync duo on the battlefield. Yet also a peculiar combo. Technology a passion based on logic and strict reasoning and Chi the free flow of life with no boundaries and no clear explanation. Vee opens up to Dee more than she does with anyone(even Leo) and Dee does the same(similarly to how he does with Mikey). When they first met, Dee was the one who pried the most into her past and her life as he had noticed her wounds and scars first. They both love kpop, in different ways, but it still gives Donnie someone to info dump with who will actually understand what he’s talking about. They are definitely the most sarcastic of the group and will eat you up and roast you dry if they can and whenever you dare think about trying it.

Red Fire meets Blue Fire: Raph is the must reluctant to connect with Venus considering she’s technically Big Mama’s niece. When they first met Raph drilled her with questions whenever she messed up the facade she created to protect them from Big Mama. Raph tries to ignore her interactions with him as an attempt to prepare himself for another betrayal. Once Vee finally tells the whole true story of her harsh past, he feels even more conflicted feeling sympathy for her pain. When they do eventually work out their problems Vee and Raph are the sibling duo who tease each the most but still care about each other in the end. Kind of like Luz and Hunter(Owl House). Raph and Venus are also the most short tempered of the group.

2 Shades of Blue 1 Little Sis and 1 Big Bro: Leo is the one who is the most gentle with Venus. He worries his head off about her pain after she reveals how badly she had been beaten down and then shoved back up again. She appreciates it of course but hates how much of a hypocrite he is when he calls her out for saying it’s fine after erupting like a teal volcano of chi. They hold each other up when they reach there low points. Leo always insists that he helps Vee get home after using her chi in battle for fear of her overwhelming her body(which happens quite frequently when she strains herself). And Vee always immediately swoops in and hugs her big bro when he gets upset and needs to just let it all out.

(P.S. When the boys tell her that Leo has a crush on April, Venus thinks it is the most adorable thing ever and starts cooing at her big bro immediately, causing his brothers to tease him for being adorable😜(same thing when she finds out Rasey get together))

the chorus is so sad to me... i think watching the intro for 5star and seeing chan's thoughts on this track casts this whole song into a different, more complicated vibe. like the meaning behind "i'm catching up" when singing about death and grief -- that's actually really good, and i really like how this line is "stuttered" or halted in the first two choruses, and only gets pronounced in full for the very last chorus, bc they've literally "caught up"

i also really like how for the "uh-uh-uh" lines, the melody shifts into a minor key -- that's what's keeping the chorus interesting and from falling into bland territory

second verse is deeply upsetting for me. yes i'm still thinking about my dead dog

the eagle cry is a little silly/on the nose but i think it's a sweet touch bc i know how earnest it is

also just generally speaking, i'm a sucker for songs whose lyrics/topic are really fucking sad but are musically very upbeat (which is why i love txt's discography so much too)

outro/final chorus very good, especially the full "i'm catching up!" followed by the falsetto...

also this song activates my synethesia like crazy for that fresh spring green, so i will be listening to this a bunch

FINAL THOUGHTS

first thing: i will say this, and it will be deeply upsetting for stays who loved skz for their pre-noeasy stuff, but it's true: chan's production and musical direction was heavily influenced by other things when he was first starting out because he was still learning, but i would say starting most obviously with oddinary, this is actually what skz's (read: chan's) personal production style is like -- and this is what skz's future releases will sound like too. there's much less imitation in production style in this album, and if it's there, it's more of a reference or allusion like in topline, and not so much a participation in a genre tradition. this makes sense, bc they've been saying repeatedly how they don't want to be defined by a genre, but want to pioneer their own -- even if it sounds really fucking weird. stuff like victory song, levanter, even side effects felt like they could've been made by other artists bc chan was still getting his production legs under him, but stuff like god's menu, domino, and case 143 is where he started pulling together a personal style.

i would characterize go live as a demonstration of skz's flashes of genius while still borrowing the sound profile of genre to use as training wheels; noeasy was them slowly playing with developing a unique sound and practicing songwriting; and 5 star is them doubling down on the production and songwriting skills they've developed since noeasy. this is their most "matured" set of songs and you can hear the difference. it's not necessarily better than the other two albums in terms of personal taste, but i think it's obvious how much work they've done the past two years to be able to come up with and execute the 5 star tracklist, and listening to it i feel like i can see 100% the intention behind the execution, which is admirable even if you hate the music. luckily i don't!

you can tell that all of them figured out what their particular talent is (what makes them "special" ha) bc they echoed what they did in the past, when those talents were first apparent. s class has a lot in common with god's menu, in vibe and structure. item is the successor to domino which skz admitted themselves, bc they were aware of how special that kind of song is. hall of fame and super bowl feels adjacent to stuff like cheese, where it's all attitude and/or aggression. felix has leaned into his voice being used as an "accent" or "point", lee know has a lot of "shouting" tone power, han's songwriting is getting more diverse (with get lit) and more defined (with collision), etc. it's not that they're copying what they've done before, because more stays would be happy with this album if that were the case, which judging by my mutuals' reactions, many are NOT; it's more that they've developed a self-awareness as artists. this album felt like evidence that everything they say in interviews about their artistic development is true, it's not just posturing: they work hard to change, and they'd much rather be continually weird and alienating than stay the same and grow complacent, even if it pisses of their fanbase and most of the general public.

personally i'm extremely relieved because 1) i obviously loved nearly all the songs but also 2) i was terrified maxident and The Sound were going to signify the BTS-ification of stray kids, a la dynamite / butter / permission to dance. 5 star solidly put those worries to rest thank fucking god. maybe my music taste is broken but i get Weird skz forever so i win

extra notes:

the "switchup" happens in a lot of songs in this album, most obviously in s class, but i'm not 100% convinced it's them capitalizing on any trend (like the switchups that nmixx is known for), since they've done switchups like this before in god's menu & back door and other songs too; for me it feels more like chan playing w the patterning he did in god's menu, bc 5 star as an album has a lot of homages to their go live era

everyone got a lot better at everything imo -- particularly in vocals; seungmin did a standout job on all of his lines obviously, but i also noticed lee know's voice has a lot more support and actually chan's lines i would put in the top three too.

live vocals from their stages are also WAY improved; i'm guessing the maniac tour gave them a lot of experience

Last night I recorded a good morning voice message for DS because I felt like it. Doing small little things like that is important for me because usually I'd refrain in case its too silly or something. My prompt yesterday was "let your voice be heard" and I did, literally. Its a very small thing but the intent behind it is large.

This morning I took the dogs out and showered. I made a frozen breakfast sandwich for lunch but I cut up my own onions for it and applied some hot sauce. Usually I'd eat something with it to help it agree with my tummy but I figured I could without because I wanted to eat small meals today since I've been up a couple pounds. My body handled it okay it seems. I had watched a sorta beginner art course video that explained using large areas and then using ovals to define planes easily which is exactly what i've been doing on my own.

To warm up today, I filled in all the little space left on my sketch sheet with rough gestures. Then I finished a YCH edit, did a YCH for 57, and readied a couple commissions for next month.

After work I spent time before lunch contacting people, doing some chores, and tending to my patreon. It was a very productive hour. For lunch I made soup and a grilled cheese. I gave myself ample time to chill and take a break since I actually felt like I earned it. Unfortunately I didn't know what I wanted to chill with so I watched an unsatisfying stream. The guy I like watching lately has starting playing CS:GO and similar games which actually melt my brain to watch. It's soooooo boring.

I finished this Celestia AI redraw I was working on this afternoon and worked on this Zelda drawing I had on the backburner. I asked TK if she wanted to call but she wasn't up for it today so I joined BR's server vc even though it was empty. I really needed to socialize because so few people have been around lately in general. BT joined but he's kinda weird and info dumps about stuff. Also nearly pulled me into the drama he's in surrounding other server members that I know nothing about. I also worked on my pony avatar for an hour.

After work I left the VC to play Cities Skylines. I got a couple new mods that might be crashing the game so I think I'll remove them. Admittedly I barely planned on using them. I asked DS if she wanted to chill and we did. I played Cities for a bit until it crashed, trying to relax and just have fun instead of making it feel like a chore or exercise. I realize I should be opening google earth and looking up locations for inspiration. It usually makes it very fun but feels like "cheating" as stupid as that sounds. Its the kind of mindset I want to let go of for any game I play. Its just a GAME I am PLAYing. Anyways she put on the 4 current episodes of season 2 of Smiling Friends which was a blast. Then we watched highlights of Oneyplays roasting the Nostalgia Critic and I suggested we watch a video of his so I have better context of who he actually is. I've always heard about him but never watched him. Then we did our puzzles before she headed off to bed since she has to wake up extra early tomorrow. I looked back on our evening feeling bad that I was so mellow and uninteresting. Its because I don't have anything on my mind to talk about lately with anyone really. Like I haven't taken in any new information to use. Its also possible I'm not treating myself with enough respect to speak my mind. Maybe I'm just thinking about things I don't think are worth sharing. Or maybe it's okay to have nothing on my mind really so I can just enjoy whatever is happening.

I tried playing some Roblox but my internet was cutting out like 1 out of every 3 minutes. I joined BR's server where they were watching the old ninja turtles movie which they still are as I write this.

My parents got home today so I don't have to tend to the dogs anymore. I did very good work today which I'm proud of, I have no regrets about my work ethic today. I just hope I can get out of this social rut, I don't feel like Im building relationships at all.

Juyeon:

the first time he met you you were so quiet he thought you were about to cry because something bad had happened, or you just really didn’t like him so he did his absolute best to make you comfortable and cheer you up. It worked because you quickly became very comfortable around him and he liked you so much once you warmed up to each other that he asked you out and you became best friends and a couple ( a very cute one too I might add ) so anyways he’s pretty quiet too, although he’s not exactly shy, so he takes care of you whenever you’re out in public without pushing you to get out of your comfort zone too much. perhaps because he knows you’re content avoiding strangers and he doesn't want anyone to try and steal you away from him.

Kevin:

Kev would definitely be the gentleman type to step up and take care of the conversation with strangers for you even if he is an introvert himself. you would notice and try your best to come out of your comfort zone and take turns dealing with people for him. he would notice and love you so much for that. like seriously, cue the clingy kev. holding your hand and your arm and patting your head after you ordered food for the both of you, or took over the conversation some persistent stranger wanted to have with y’all. he would think it was super cute the way your ears turned pink and your soft voice naturally lured the person in you were talking to. It would make him so proud to see others easily talking with you without even noticing that you were super nervous, because you were so good at hiding how you felt and making the other person comfortable. he would cheer you on and compliment you constantly.

Chanhee:

shy boy, shy girl. y’all would be soooooo cute together. like people at parties would see you both just sitting aside from others practically on each other's lap, talking quietly together, knowing you were the best dressed people there, and playing games on your phones softly giggling together. when you had to interact with strangers Chanhee would for the most part, bc he’s confident and knows he can even if he doesn’t like to and he knows it impresses you which he loves to do, so win win for you both haha. sometimes you’ll break through your comfort zone and talk with a stranger or order your own food confidently and make him very proud of you which is also a win win <3

this boy. he’s such a tease. he would make you order your own food, or talk with someone who approached you both because he loooooooooves the way you slightly stutter and giggle softly in between sentences and your voice is so soft and pretty when you’re shy. If you started to feel too overwhelmed he would take over for you ofc. usually if you’re the least bit scared or upset because of something he would definitely take care of any human interactions for you, but if he got the chance he would gently push you out of your comfort zone, just because he finds you so endearing. he loves how you turn around to face him after talking to someone and sighing and then smiling and visibly relaxing bc you’re with him. CHELLE YOU CAN'T JUST DO THAT!

I don't know how am I supposed to pick 2 things max, bloody hell, it feels like choosing your favourite child and I know I'm gonna change my mind as soon as I click "post".

If I had to choose just one, it would be the final part of Stuck In Reverse, just because I’ve spent absurd amount of time on research, trying to crack how to save that idiot and write a satisfying end to that emotional series, and I am really proud how it turned out in the end.

From one shots it would be a hard choice between hurt on a mission, Nikki or true colors, but I'd say true colors, because I really like the flow there and I think it serves it's purpose as a comfort fic of sorts.

Just listing these I realized that all of them are pretty heavy on feels and angst, but we all know I like pain and making y'all suffer with me so what's new lol.

(And I know you said max 2 but like I'm quite proud I survived writing part 3 of Smoke&Mirrors and I'm really happy how it played out)

Headcanons about just Edgewater, Indiana in general

- Mostly dirt and really badly paved roads

- Houses have a lot of spacing in between them

- They have K-Mart (that’s canon) and a Walmart and that’s it

- Along with that they only have like McDonald’s and Taco Bell (for fast food joints)

- The town is mostly run on mom and pop shops and farms

- Everyone comes to watch the football games but especially homecoming

- The Walmart sells James Madison pride things (but they’re off color and obviously badly made because someone ordered them off of a weird logo site)

- Rock walls cuz farms

- Abandoned houses just randomly scattered about

- Soooooo many for sale signs (including ones just in fields)

- Cornfields/farms taking up like 2/3 of all of the towns land

- The entire town is very very proud of anyone who lived/graduated from there and didn’t end up living there for the rest of their lives (also the town welcome sign points out anyone who has an even relatively recognizable name)

- James Madison high has been rebuilt once if at all since it was originally built

- Has one (1) radio station and all the others broadcast from other towns

- Every store (minus big chains) closes at 5 pm sharp

- Furthermore most if not all of them are closed or have really weird hours on Sunday

- The church has a bell that rings every hour a little before the hour on the hour (and rings a little almost tune at 5)

- People actually go to town meetings cause what else are they gonna do?

- The entire town only has like 20 cops

- Everybody shows up to banquets

- Banquets are held randomly to raise money for some random person who most everyone knows somehow (????)

Didn’t get along the first time they met

Terushima started flirting with Kageyama because Kageyama didn’t recognize it as flirting

It wasn’t that Terushima was in love or anything, it was just his personality and it was fun when the flirting behaviors flew over Kageyama’s head.

But Kageyama talked to some teammates and others and everyone said the way this unnamed person acted must mean the unnamed person liked him

So Kageyama went up to Terushima and asked him if he was flirting with him one day.

Straight face, making eye contact, completely serious

Terushima almost laughed because of how Kageyama looked, but it was also the reason he couldn’t laugh

Kageyama was just too serious!

Terushima stood there trying to figure out how to answer for several seconds before just admitting to it. He was a flirt

Well flirting means you want to go on a date with a person, right? So Kageyama asked him out

Except it was less of a question and more of a statement. Included a time and place.

And then he just ran away without giving Terushima a chance to answer.

Kageyama was too flustered to wait for an answer, even though he still had a very serious almost angry expression.

Terushima was too shocked to do anything but blink

But they ended up going on a date. It was Karasuno’s school festival

Kageyama’s class did a haunted house. He was a zombie

But they spent most of the day wandering around the grounds and making awkward conversation

The relationship developed slowly. They went on several dates before real feelings started to creep up

Their first time was after a volleyball match Karasuno won. Kageyama was still hyped after and they were talking and Terushima thought his excitement was kind of cute so he kissed him.

Kageyama’s family is often absent, so Terushima would visit as often as he could or just facetime with him so he wouldn’t be so lonely (is facetime the current video call thing? Idk. Whatever it is)

Convinced Kageyama’s parents to come to a volleyball game once when they were home because Kageyama had mentioned it would be nice if they’d show up at least once and see him play. It was a night when Kageyama was really upset.

Terushima didn’t tell Kageyama that he was the one who did it of course.

Terushima actually helped Kageyama with his studies a little in between flirting and messing around, though maybe his methods weren’t always conventional…

Lot’s of people questioned whether these two could really last. They were very different people but it worked.

Kageyama keeps to his side of the bed but Terushima usually ends up with one limb draped over Kageyama by morning.

Terushima sings in the shower while Kageyama brushes his teeth then they switch because Kageyama is weird about showering together

Terushima loves Kageyama’s pout and sometimes does things to make him pout like steal his food

But Kageyama will steal Terushima’s food too soooooo

No one really wins or loses here

Kageyama falls asleep on Terushima’s shoulder a LOT

They play volleyball sometimes. Kageyama continued after high school so he makes Terushima practice with him

Terushima usually takes it seriously.

Terushima’s dad pretty much disowned him for not going to college but Kageyama stood by his decision and moved in with him during his third year of high school. They both kind of decided they were better off without their families. They got a dog instead.

The dogs name is volley and he flirts with female dogs a lot…..

Kageyama didn’t go to college either. He made it to the national volleyball team and Terushima came to every single game

Terushima bounced around jobs a lot trying to figure out what he really wanted to do with his life. He worked in a kitchen, pierced and tattooed people, dabbled in some acting, etc.

He struggled to really settle on one thing and learned new skills quickly so he just changed jobs when he got bored

Kageyama didn’t mind as long as Terushima was happy.

Kageyama actually let Terushima give him a ear piercing.

Often cook together. Terushima taught Kageyama some kitchen skills so now they both can make good food

The One With the Mondlerobron Wedding

Soooooo this idea sprang from a discussion I had with an anon about how the Robron wedding is hilarious when placed in context of the Monica Geller/Chandler Bing wedding in Friends. This isn't a "fic"--more like I've chosen some scenes from Friends and made it fit with Robron. I'm working a few scenes from the Mondler wedding and honeymoon but here's a glimpse into it! Chapter 1

I'm Engaged! I'm Engaged!

Aaron opens the front door and sees David waiting with a bottle of champagne. “Hey buddy, I just got a note on my door that said ‘Come to the Mill and bring champagne.’ What’s going on? Aaron gives him a big grin and says with obvious excitement, “Robert and I are engaged!” David pulls Aaron into a hug. “Oh my God, Aaron, that’s great—congratulations, man!”

David walks into the living room, nodding hello to Vic, Bernice, and Pete. He looks around, confused. “Where’s Robert, though?” Aaron rolls his eyes but can’t keep the soft smile off his face. “How did you miss him? He’s outside screaming ‘I’m engaged, I’m engaged’ at the top of his lungs.”

Everyone in the living room laughs. Pete takes David over to the window so he can see Robert with his arms raised, yelling at the sky. “Yeah he’s been out there for twenty minutes, I’m surprised you didn’t hear him on the way over.” “Ohhhh I thought it was just someone screaming “I’m gay, I’m gay” over and over. And, I just thought, ‘well that’s one way to come out I guess.’ Should we bring him in?” Bernice butts in and comes to stand at the window next to David. “Oh no, let’s let him stay out there. It’s sweet.”

They open the window, just in time to hear someone scream back at Robert, “SHUT UP SOME OF US ARE TRYING TO SLEEP.” Robert stops, considers things for a moment and yells back, “NO I WILL NOT SHUT UP. WHY DON’T YOU COME OVER HERE AND SAY THAT TO ME, HUH BUDDY?! YEAH, MY FIANCE WILL KICK YOUR ARSE.” At that, Aaron races outside and pulls Robert back into the Mill. “Ok, yeah, that’s enough. I’d rather not go to prison after this wedding day, thank you very much.”

Once they convince Robert to come back inside, Vic claps her hands together and practically screams, “Ok! Since the wedding party is all here, let’s start planning!” Robert jumps up and races upstairs, yelling over his shoulder, “Great idea, Vic! I have some ideas jotted down.”

Muttering to herself, Vic continues the wedding talk long after Robert has disappeared upstairs. “We’ve got a lot to do! We gotta think about the flowers, the caterers, the music…” At the word “music,” Aaron perks up. “Oh, I’ve got some thoughts on that. I was thinking…” Gently, Vic pats his arm and lets him down easy. “Whoa, Aaron, too many cooks.”

Aaron’s jaw drops involuntarily—is he not half the wedding couple? Robert returns a few seconds later and sets down a huge binder on the kitchen table. “Okay! Let’s get started!” Aaron stares at it, dumbfounded. “What the hell is that, Robert?” Vic runs over to the table like a child at Christmas. “The wedding book! I haven’t seen that in ages.”

Robert strokes the front of the binder with a fondness that could almost be described as seductive. “This baby has got everything. Take y’know, locations for instance.” He opens the binder and flips to the front. He runs his finger down the page and urges Aaron to look at his list. “First, organized alphabetically,” he flips the page, “then geographically,” one more flip, “then by square footage.” He looks self satisfied and a little smug and Aaron is rethinking every part of this engagement.

Trying to get in the spirit of things, Aaron points to the book and asks, “now, do I get to look at this book or is it just for people who are actually involved in the wedding?” Robert gives him a small shove. “Of course you can look at it, Aaron! Yeah, I want your opinion too! Here you go! What do you think about centerpieces? Roses or orchids?” He holds up a photo of each in front of Aaron. Aaron points to the left. “Definitely roses.” Robert and Vic exchange a look and try to smother a shared laugh.

“Well, I just think they’re a little more weddingy…” He trails off as Robert inches the picture of the orchids closer to Aaron’s face. Aaron rolls his eyes for what feels like the hundredth time since he and Robert got engaged earlier that day and gives Robert what he wants by agreeing. “But orchids are the clear choice!” Robert puts down the photos and gives Aaron a quick kiss. “Oh my god, it’s like we’re one mind, Aaron!” Aaron plasters a fake smile on his face as he nods his head vigorously, “Uh huh!”

After a long day at work, Robert walks into the Mill and sees Aaron and Vic huddled close together at the kitchen table. As he comes into the kitchen, he cradles his hand, moaning “Owwwwww” until Aaron looks up, eyebrows knitted in concern. “What happened? What did you do?” With a smirk, Robert replies “I don’t know. My hand feels weird. I guess it’s because I’M ENGAGED” and flashes his left hand up to Aaron and Vic. Vic lays her head in her hands and Aaron rolls his eyes. “How long before that gets annoying?” Vic’s muffled “Starts?” is met with a gentle smack on the head by Robert.

“What are you two working on so intently?” Aaron sits a bit straighter and says with pride, “We’re working on the seating chart, trying to narrow down the guest list. Let me show you. Here is where the band is,” Aaron points out to Robert. He moves his finger to the opposite end of the chart explaining, “and this is where the bar is. Vic, this is where you are.”

Vic quickly grabs her pin and moves it to the bar area. “Why don’t we just take me and put me with a Manhattan in my hand, talking to the cute bartender.” She gives a small laugh and looks up at Aaron, where she’s met with a steel blue gaze and her laughter dies instantly. “These pins aren’t for playing are they?” “No, Vic. This isn’t a game.”

Interest piqued, Robert asks, “Why are some pins red and some blue?” “I’m glad you asked, Rob. The red ones are my guests and the blue ones are yours. All the pins have people’s names on them.” He looks so proud of himself, but Robert immediately notices something odd and points at his pins. “This is so sad, I mean only have like ten pins, including Vic and Diane.” “Well, you also have Doug, Jimmy, and Nicola. Relax, it’s not a contest.“ He turns his head to Vic and loudly whispers, “well, it’s certainly not a close one.”

SO, this question has always bugged me? Is Ardyn tall or short? Or a nice inbetween? Now in actuality it’s never been a doubt in my mind that Ardyn is at least six feet, but that still begs the question, how many inches do I need to shave off or add? Welp, let’s take a look, shall we?

I would like to introduce you to height template number one of this little journey, this is the official heights of all four main men in FFXV, down to the Centimeters, I also added a pixel wide bar to show from Prompto to Gladio just how much shorter Prom is than Gladdy, which frankly surprised me, I honestly expected there to be a bigger height difference than that, what with how much of a behemoth Gladio is, and yet Prom comes up to just below Gladios jawline.

Now that you have some perspective on how short (or not short) our sweet muffin turns out to be, lets take a look at some screenshots I got while meticulously searching through letsplays and speedruns of the game, starting with: Episode Prompto.

Things to take into consideration: Prom is leaning forward, Ardyn is mid movement, Ardyn has his head tilted down to look condescendingly at Prompto. In general it’s a good gist of their respective heights but there are things to consider before making it the Magnum Opus on his height.

Blue is where the tip of the beanie starts, red is where I think I can’t stress enough I only THINK his head would start, give or take a few pixels in width, Ardyn is tilted to the side and in this image the red bar is below his jawline, they aren’t moving as much but they also aren’t facing each other, something to (again) take into account.

Now for the great pain: We all know that Prom is the shortest, so what’s above is almost moot in finding out specifically how tall this guy is, therefore I’ll move to the next extreme, the tallest guy we know. Gladio.

Fair warning; some of these pics are very blurry because I was going through and finding individual frames that I thought looked best for this. Almost all of these are at weird angles and just in general kinda bad.

Lets start with this one here, in Galdin Quay:

Gladio is VERY close to the camera (for example, Prompto’s (who is next to him in this scene) head alone takes up the entire screen for a moment), and yet Ardyn still manages to keep up height next to him, but this is a bad angle and can make everyone look way taller or shorter than they really are, lets move on:

This is the next frame after Ardyn walks past them, it’s the closest I could get Ardyn next to Gladio and the guys, and as I said before: He holds his height against Gladio. And an argument could be made But he’s wearing large boots! Yes, I’ll give you that, but I counter with this: Gladio, the man who frequently gets into battles, who loves to go camping and hiking, prooooooobably isn’t wearing flip-flops, so the height difference there is so slight it’s pointless.

Let’s move on: The Lestallum Scene!

Here’s the only good frame I could get of Cutscene!Ardyn next to Gladio, and personally: I think it says a lot: They’re pretty close to each other, Gladio’s posture is mostly straight whereas Ardyn is bent in a funky way toward Prom and Noct (who look about as big as children here) and yet... He’s still pretty damn tall next to Gladio. Once again boots/shoes are not going to be playing a part in this and a thick trench coat and hood is not gonna make him gain inches in height, or any height at all, really. 

So for the next and final big gripe: Cutscene models and live models’ heights have a tendency to differ WILDLY in this game, making incredibly tall people seem short and incredibly short people seem tall, I personally think that Cutscene body types should be regarded as the “real” character sizes, but for the sake of thoroughness, I got some while they’re walking around too:

This photo is meh, it catches a general feel for their height and it’s pretty amusing. This is Ardyn, he covers his face with his own name and doesn’t like standing. But yeah, he’s mid step and still about as tall as Gladio who hasn’t moved yet.

NEXT. The Big Kicker:

It’s blurry, but they’re right next to eachother. Ardyn is moving just slightly and is the exact same- if not taller- height than Gladio, he’s not a short dude.

And so, for my final height model, I present this:

The general height I think Ardyn is: one or two cm taller than Gladdy.

So how tall should I say he is???: I don’t know exactly. These are all eyeballing guesses at his height, he really could be a lot shorter than Gladio, or he could be a seven foot tall man-giant. It’s all up to you and your own preference, if big Daddy Gladdy is still the reigning Height King, then go Gladdy! If you think that Ardyn as become The Usurper of more than one throne, then daaaaamn congrats Ardyn you’re a big dude!

IN CONCLUSION: I hope this helps people trying to understand the stature of their beloved characters and trash man. Cya guys later! -Jo
