Ok friends, a little real talk... Let me get my snarkiness out of the way first. I’m done being pregnant, for real. I’m almost 38 weeks, I’ve pretty much hated the whole thing (granted it has been a reeeally rough pregnancy) and now, often, I can hardly move. Walking is a challenge. Sitting is a challenge. Sleeping and rolling over is uncomfortable and a challenge. Nothing fits or is comfortable. Nate basically has to put my socks and shoes on for me. And sometimes my pants (ok, I admit that one is kind of funny). And if one more person comments on how big I am, I might legit punch them in the face. Just don’t say that. To anyone, especially a pregnant woman. It’s not cute and it doesn’t help... • Ok, now that that is out of the way, I did have a nice walk in the snowy woods today. I had to go slow and stop frequently, but what I quickly realized was that I deeply needed those slowed moments. To stop in the snowy wood, things are still, they are quite, and the air feel heavy and wraps itself around you like a heartfelt embrace, sweetly scented. My heart swells every time I see clumps of snow sticking to piney boughs. Looking up, under an area dense with trees, watching little snowflakes spiral down slowly, making the world dreamy and sending waves of calm down through my core. This is always a healing place, but I especially find this to be truth when the world has slowed down and is covered in an ivory blanket. I realized the other day that I didn't have a photo of Leonora with my belly. 39 weeks pregnant and officially at the "sneezing is dangerous" and "total Monet" stage of this shananza. Not like sneezing is ever safe after you've had a baby anyway, so nothing revolutionary there I realize, but pictures are definitely best from a safe distance now. The birth pool is ready and the Vegas pools are open with bets coming in from around the world on what the gender will be, weight class it'll join, day it'll arrive, and whether or not that pain I just felt was a sign of labor or just gas. Today a random stranger stopped me to say that my baby was coming soon. I half expected to look down and see a baby hanging out of me but lucky for everyone that wasn't the case. I think I'll just park myself here in front of this street art to let everyone know that I'm well aware that this pot is at boiling point.
