Jungkook is having the worst possible time right now. Saturday is probably Yoongi's favorite day of the week. No waking up early, no work, and not worrying about having to do any of those the next day.

Throwing his phone on the bed, he gets out of it to grab a bottle of water from the fridge, getting ready to sit in his studio for at least an hour. He knows is probably a bit extra to use his expensive equipment for whatever this favor is, but if he is going to help, he is going to do it right.

Opening Jungkook's messages on his laptop, Yoongi almost wants to laugh at himself.

Clearly that part is not completely made up on his mind, but he doesn't have to decide what to do right now, he has to finish editing. And so, Yoongi clicks around the software again, cutting and deleting another section, the one where you can hear his voice and even his music before.

That's it. It was a familiar track because it is his. He composed that himself to put in the background of his videos exclusively. He figured putting his own touch would help if something was posted outside his page, never imagining hearing it in the background of someone else's video or audio was even possible.

It shouldn't affect him this much. After all, people touching themselves to his videos is half the reason he likes making them. What can he say? Is a turn on to have that effect on others, it builds his confidence up.

But actually hearing it is different.

you were seeking a haven for your musical pursuits, while i was on a quest to find my own place in this world. i was tired of working for others and craved the freedom of building my own source of income, without the shackles of neglecting my own needs.

when you first walked into the studio, exuding an air of professionalism, i never imagined that we would become friends. but we did.

and i'm so grateful for it.

you are as incredible as the music you create. your wisdom pervades the lyrics you compose. your love is evident just a few seconds into the tune you create. your enthusiasm is apparent in the expression in your eyes as you concentrate on finding the perfect tone for your beautiful composition. you write for the people around you as well as for yourself. you write about the smallest things about someone you care about, and you sample their laughs, which always make you smile. you create a masterpiece out of the most basic subject matter that revolves around you.

i understand why you would leave the studio in search of a better, larger space to pursue your passion. this studio should not be the reason for your career failing to blossom, which i know is impossible because your brilliance transcends all boundaries.

People keep forgetting about late August last year when Jimin went back to Korea after spending a couple of weeks in NYC. He arrived in Korea and a couple of hours later Jungkook was having dinner, alone. It was that time Jungkook went out to eat literally everyday, I think trying out different meat restaurants. Well, Jimin arrived back in Korea after weeks and they didn't even get dinner together lol.

Once or twice might be a coincidence, but if it keeps happening every single time... Wake tf up!!!

It's also so deranged to think two people who are, on the record, FRIENDS have to hide and can't hang out like normal friends do. Literally anyone who's ever been in a gay relationship can tell you that you go out and have a normal life like everyone else does. I get livid everytime I have to see cis straight women talking about being gay and making it sound like it's a Tarantino movie. Newsflash: gay people live normal lives!! Umm not really. Not many tattoo their own initials but he literally tattooed his birth time as a big ass clock so this is possible lol. Also his tattoos are all about him. If there's one thing 2023 has showed us (and the earlier years too), jimin and jungkook are THE best friend duo of the group. The best friends among a group of best friends. Somebody on here mentioned the rainy day fight recently. Jungkook not only cried when he fought with Jimin, but he went outside without a destination. Have you experienced that type of distress? He could have just gone home or stayed in the studio, could have just avoided Jimin and waited till they made up. But he walks aimlessly and whom does he call? Jimin. When Jimin said he wouldn't take care of him anymore, it's like he lost his anchor. The one person he was closest to, someone who gave him a safe space in a group of older friends,had refused to take care of him anymore. It removed the ground beneath him. If that doesn't tell you who he's closest to, idk what will. Anyway...back to the topic.

The other explanation (which might be far fetched and just my personal little theory) is J stands for Jeon, his brother's name, family names etc. But idk, that's far fetched.

It still doesn't change the fact about how it looks. Just because it's farther than ARMY doesn't mean it's not a crossword. A very visible one too. And when his fists are curled, it can look far, but when his palm is flat, they are equidistant. Like a crossword. He definitely had his palm straight while getting it tattooed.

I didn't see Jimin at the GMA. Why didn't he come there if he was traveling only for this? When he traveled to Lollapalooza he was seen both days with Hobi. And if also traveled the same way for Hobi, why is it special when he did for JK? Is he also dating Hobi?

What these people forget is that taekook used to hangout earlier as well, it was just that people used to either call those instances fake(eg snowboarding trip) or that tae was lying (eg the members and jk pic trip). When taekook hung out in solo era, it was during their own time. They made the choice to be with each other in their free time, not just going out but staying at each other's places as well(I am very sure that it was jk in those two lives 🤷‍♀️+makguksu)

Lots of good points here but I'm gonna comment on the Wooga element...

I find their relationship with JK to be one of my foundations for believing. I don't think JK is the sixth Wooga, for the record, and that strengthens the case for me even more. Because there is a tiny bit of a detachment, he's not at every single Wooga gathering, I feel like it debunks the idea that he's fully Wooga'd. I think he's there as an important person to Tae.

I said before, he's like the founder member of the Wooga Spouse Club.

(I can already feel someone being like "Are you saying they don't like JK?" or "This is so shady towards JK." NO I'M NOT and NO IT ISN'T. Oh people discussing Jon Caramanica - well not really but I actually followed him even before I got into BTS. He tends to try to be fair and level in his criticism esp when the fault can be laid on the label instead of artist. The guests he brings on sometimes especially from outside the nyt crew can be the worst but he's fairly decent in my opinion

But I just wanna say even he has the same blind spots that a lot of western journalists have. This accusation of kpop being manufactured and exploitative (which is what he's trying to delicately make) - see while it's not inaccurate, this assertion being made by the same people who spent years not really talking about the exploitation that happens in western labels esp of young artists unless the artist makes an explicit public statement like Kesha - I don't know, it just seems vaguely hypocritical to me. And for all that kpop and it's narratives is manufactured, few of these critics will openly talk about the Disney channel to popstar pipeline or how a lot of public relationship drama nowadays is manufactured (sorry to be specific but the Camilla - Shawn Mendes - SC triangle was just their marketing teams trying to get all three of them more heat though I really don't think SC needed it).

And Caramanica and his compatriots are especially susceptible to a good narrative. It's never enough for a western artist to just be talented or great at making music - if you want to enter the big leagues you need a story. Some raison d'etre or usp. What music journalists really want is to be flown out to the next big thing while they're making their studio album or touring and shadow them and then kickback in the evening drinking with them while the artist fills them in on how they've always been an outsider and how music fills the void of their soul. Or alternatively critics want to be seen as people introducing new and cool genres of music to the public like afrobeats or Latin music or indie music and kpop due to its tendency of having rabid young fans isn't considered cool

I'm being reductive and I actually do like JC but as someone who's followed a few music critics, this shit happens a lot. Talent isn't enough for them. So yeah critics will never give bts or Jimin or even JK (tho I don't think he deserves it lol) their due and it will be purportedly because of the evils of kpop but it's really because they're more used to a different system of exploitation. It's not that the west is a lot better but they're more used to it.

A kpop idol who's going to be loved by western critics - if we get someone like that in the future I guarantee it'll be more important that they're super charismatic with media rather than about how talented they are and possibly an English speaker cause that's definitely an advantage

Sorry this turned into a rant and a half somehow. You can totally ignore this since it's not really related to Jimin. I just get disillusioned with the state of music criticism and the music industry sometimes

The western music business does not deserve a free pass. Simply behold Britney Spears dancing with knives while dressed in a tiny bikini. What happened to that poor woman? What was done to Justin Bieber as a child - in plain sight - is indefensible (I've got a blog post coming about that). But it's so much more. It's managers embezzling from their clients. It's predatory contracts that leave artists in debt. It's Lou Pearlman, creator of the Backstreet Boys and NSYNC, running one of the largest ponzi schemes in US history. It's Wham! being flat broke despite having huge hit singles. It's female artists being expected to sell their bodies more than their music. No free pass allowed.

And speaking of manufactured music...there's a reason why very little music sounds fresh anymore. There are few to no bands for one thing. I mourn the death of bands. No doubt it's difficult trying to work together and be together non-stop, but the band format gave us The Beatles! Brotherly discord gave us Oasis. The song writing magic that occurred in bands has been replaced by a teams of songwriters meeting up in conference rooms to write songs with a specific singer in mind. Boring! With innovation (mostly) gone, record labels need an origin story for their artists as a means to market them.

I believe I posted yesterday about Warner Music's new label in Korea. It's called Mplify, and the focus is on Korean singers who record in English. I have no doubt you're right about what's coming with k-pop. I've already noticed the newer groups seem to have at least one strong English speaker.

I have things to say about the type of people who become music critics, but I'll stop here. I agree with you, though.
