British singer-songwriter and guitarist Eric Clapton promoted the antisemitic conspiracy theory that Israel runs the world during an interview last week on the YouTube channel “The Real Music Observer.”
The Grammy Award winner and Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee, 79, referenced recent US congressional hearings where lawmakers grilled presidents of elite universities about surging antisemitism and rampant anti-Israel demonstrations on their campuses.
“I was so enthused about what was going on at Columbia [University] and everywhere. And then I saw, what I couldn’t believe, because it freaked me out, were the Senate hearings, which were like the Nuremberg trials, you know?” Clapton said during his guest appearance on “The Real Music Observer,” hosted by David Spuria. “The Senate committee would be asking pointed questions to presidents of universities, saying, ‘I just want to hear yes or no. Don’t talk to me about context. Yes or no, are you promoting antisemitism in your college? Yes or no.’ And I thought, what is this, the Spanish Inquisition? And it is! It’s AIPAC [the American Israel Public Affairs Committee], it’s the lobby. Israel is running the show. Israel is running the world.”
The hearings that Clapton referenced were held by the House Committee on Education and the Workforce, not a Senate panel.
In November, a little more than a month after the Oct. 7 Hamas terrorist attacks in Israel, Clapton released an instrumental song called “Voice of a Child.” The song’s music video features photos from pro-Palestinian and anti-Israel rallies around the world as well as images of destruction in the Gaza Strip. The music video completely overlooks the Oct. 7 massacre that sparked the ongoing Israel-Hamas war.
Clapton has recently been performing with a guitar that he painted in the colors of the Palestinian flag. Talking about the guitar while appearing on “The Real Music Observer,” he said, “We’re doing a thing now on this tour that I wrote originally as a tribute to Jeff Beck [who died in 2023]. I performed it at a tribute concert and then I didn’t play it anymore. But for this tour I’m doing it under a different guise. It’s the same tune, but I devoted it to the situation in Gaza. It’s called ‘Blue Dust’ because that’s what’s probably going to be left there. And I play a guitar that’s painted like the Palestinian flag.”
Clapton is a close friend of former Pink Floyd frontman Roger Waters, who has openly expressed antisemitic and anti-Israel sentiments, and has performed in garments that resemble a Nazi SS officer uniform. Clapton has defended Waters in the past, claiming that people “misinterpret” the latter’s position on Israel, and said last week that it takes “guts” to share political opinions like his.

Sparks Japan Tour 2023 Recap
(silly personal edition; unfortunately the only kind I'm capable of)
Saturday July 22nd, Tokyo
(Duo Music Exchange)
This is the standing venue I've mentioned before as being crazy for having massive pillars in line of sight of the stage. It was a sold out show, so unfortunately some people had to be back there...
I was unbelievably lucky with my ticket numbers and my friend and I got to stand in the front row, keyboard siiiiiide. I don't think I can express how happy I was to be there. The show was phenomenal and being in the front able to jump around and dance and experience the music Up Close was just... something else.
I really enjoyed the film score soundtrack to our waiting time before Sparks came on, too. So atmospheric.
Obligatory pre-show keyboard photo number one:
Tumblr media
Over the loudspeakers before the band came on, the venue announced that photos and videos wouldn't be allowed during the performance, and there was a hilarious, audible reaction from the crowd as ~600 people quietly reacted like, 'whaaat?!'
(I see there were some rule-breakers in the house, though, so there are some clips and pictures on instagram and elsewhere for those who want to see!)
The stage was really shallow with the band set up and Russell could barely fit behind the keyboard to reach that side, but it was so nice that he made the effort to come and sing to those people up close, and somehow without knocking Ron over.
Also we definitely witnessed the escalator dance!
And oh man, Russell did so many dramatic leaps into the air, it was (as they say) rad.
Out of all the songs we heard that night, I think it brought me the most joy to hear Angst, and The Toughest Girl In Town. I love Interior Design and it's the album I usually put on when I'm coming home from the city at night, so hearing a song from it IN that city at night was just the best. But every song was done incredibly. Particularly Beaver O'Lindy which of course I'd never heard live before (I am sadly not a 21x21 veteran)!
And I love when a song ends and Ron does some little pose when he lifts his hands off the keyboard :')
The crowd was absolutely on fire, in SUCH good spirits! Everyone I saw was just smiling through every moment, or singing along looking elated to be there and lost in the music.
And as I'm sure we've all seen by now, encore Ron wore an Air Jordan hoodie with JAPAN written on it. Extremely appreciated.
Oh, and retrospectively I think I have to conclude that the Shopping Mall Of Love 'yeah's from this night included the hottest 'yeah' of the three tour dates. I don't make the rules, I merely observe them.
This show was everything I could have hoped for and more.
(To my friend I went with: if you're reading this, ugh, what a cherished memory it is to have seen them front row together ;_;)
Monday July 24th, Osaka
(Namba Hatch)
Tumblr media
I went up very high to take this photo and the venue is sadly not in it, but please look at Osaka anyway just for some ~mood context~.
(And yes, person trying to see if you could peel one of the Sparks posters off the wall of the venue to take home, I saw you and I support you and I'm sorry you didn't manage to succeed!)
By the way, this venue has an impressive plethora of escalators...
Tumblr media
Obligatory pre-show keyboard photo number 2:
You can tell how early I was by the unoccupied seats.
Tumblr media
This was my first seated show but 99% of people were on their feet from the moment the band came on and for the entire duration of the show. Absolutely became a standing gig... I was so relieved!
I brought a non-Sparks-fan to this show and it couldn't have been a better introduction. It was just so incredibly well performed and so fun, we had such a great time.
Russell's voice was possibly somehow even better than on Saturday; I don't know, but especially his high notes had so much POWER and he looked super happy with the performances after each song :D
And omdhfhdgdg there was just so much energy from the crowd.
Being a much bigger venue than Saturday, the applause and cheering was incredible :') The audience participation in general was just brilliant!
I really like a lot of the live arrangements of the songs, too, they're so much more powerful than usual. I know with some other bands, live shows are a muddier, albeit wilder but much less listenable rendition of the album tracks, but Sparks really elevate their songs when done live.
Russell also used a few words of the local Osaka dialect when talking to the crowd which was very cute and got big cheers.
The previous venue was too small for the lighting setup I've seen in other 2023 tour photos, so this night was when we finally got to see that in action. As is Sparks' way, it was really well thought-out, so I'm very glad I got to see this more visually dramatic version of the set. I especially loved the rainbow lighting and French flag lighting moments.
This was also our first time hearing A Love Story in Japan. So fun live!
Encore Ron came out wearing a pair of novelty Osaka dialect sunglasses (which he had to lift up to see the keyboard settings 'cause they were obviously too dark, and the crowd giggled at that and so did Ron, it was... fucking cuuute.
Of course there was also a brief glimpse of no-glasses Ron when he swapped them for his normal pair later. Those of you who know me will observe my restraint in the mentioning of this)
When they were saying their final goodbyes to us, someone at the front handed Russell an art piece they'd made (it looked like a standee of him and Ron) and he did a little pose like 'I will cherish this' and then put it on the keyboard, and Ron picked it up and did a little pose with it like 'ooooh'
So cute. So lovely.
Such a stellar show! I wish I could thank everyone else in the crowd for making it so special. I'd never seen so many hands in the air.
Tuesday July 25th, Tokyo
(Line Cube)
(The second brand-related renaming of Shibuya Public Hall has given it the above amusing name. It used to be called CC Lemon Hall and I don't know which is funnier)
Tumblr media
It's really nice inside, very modern and spacious and the seats were SO comfortable,
but this time EVERYONE immediately stood up. I didn't detect an ass in a seat for the whole show. It was beautiful. Wonderful. Unbelievably good!
(Unrelated, but in front of me was a maybe-11-year-old boy in subtle russell cosplay; wearing an exact replica of his 'having fun around Japan' outfit from the documentary (complete with the right length of trousers and legit marimekko bag in red))
Obligatory pre-show keyboard photo number 3:
Tumblr media
Just before the 2nd or 3rd song there were some technical difficulties, during which Russell tried stalling but then obviously didn't want to stall alone for the whole time and forcibly handed Ron the mic
and Ron said,
"... the voltage in Amurica is 120, and in Japan it's 100... so sometimes things like this happen. We apologize. ^w^"
(yes he did make the face of this emoji)
(and yes I did... phonetically spell out the way Ron says America because it's just... so endearing)
The rest of the show went smoothly though! It was so, so
so
so good.
I could get into some of the moments in the songs that really move me, but I am easily embarrassed.
Okay, I will try (look, I am being so brave)
-When I'm With You: there's a beautifully-held note or two or three in this song that I'm sure all Sparks fans die at when hearing it live. That, and the 'I almost feel normal' line, really get to me.
-It Doesn't Have To Be That Way: I think we all know how rare it is for Sparks to make a song specifically in order to express a message, and I'm really glad they doubled down on that and did this one live. It hurts but it's also so simply triumphant. I love how Russell almost laughs on certain lines because it really is both absurd and exactly what artists have to deal with.
-Number One Song In Heaven. This is just one of the first Sparks songs I ever heard and it blew me into another dimension. It's ominous, it's ethereal, it's weird and perfect, and it's incredible to hear live every single time.
At the end of the show, Russell said how sad it was for them to be ending the tour
but how happy they were to have the last one be here ;__; 'we genuinely really love your country'
Awww Russell ;_;
I left the show so much better off than when I came in, by which I just mean there's something about seeing a band that means so much to you, where it just turns up the metaphorical dial on the enrichment of your life. Thank you Sparks and thank you other Sparks enjoyers!
Well, that was my rambling show report complete with absolutely none of the information anyone usually wants to hear about a gig.
I'd like to thank @adreamofroses for finding me and saying hi, and I'm sorry we didn't get to talk much!
I'll leave you all with a photo of the official merch I got, including some by the art team Tectecs whose adorable art was irresistible. They've got a gallery show going on with all their Sparks work at the moment, too.
Tumblr media
and one last photo because I saw my bag looking like this when I stopped to do something, and laughed:

1960s Portable Sony TV was a Hit with Showa Emperor and Frank Sinatra!
Location: Edo-Tokyo Open Air Architectural Museum, Koganei, Tokyo Timestamp: 13:28 on October 25, 2023
Pentax K-1 II + DFA 28-105mm F3.5-5.6 45 mm ISO 800 for 1/50 sec. at ƒ/9.0
Sony unveiled its 5-inch portable TV, the Micro-TV (Model #TV5-303), to the world on April 17, 1962, and it hit the U.S. market with a bang on October 4th of the same year. The grand launch took place at Sony’s state-of-the-art New York showroom on Manhattan’s 5th Avenue, with over 400 guests, including the esteemed Consul General of New York.
This incredibly compact micro-television, available in silver and black versions, became an instant sensation. Demand soared to unprecedented levels, leaving Sony struggling to keep pace. Despite shipping sets by sea straight from the assembly line, the company couldn’t meet the eager market's needs.
With rival manufacturers hot on their heels, Sony took a bold step by chartering a Pan American airliner to expedite the TVs to the U.S., capitalizing on the momentum they had generated.
It wasn't only six months later in early 1963 that Hayakawa Electric introduced similar portable televisions to the U.S. market, trailing behind Sony's groundbreaking Micro-TV.
During a factory tour in March 1962, the Showa Emperor and Empress of Japan received an exclusive preview of the Micro-TV. Sony's co-founders, Akio Morita and Masaru Ibuka, went to great lengths, requesting Their Imperial Majesties to maintain strict confidentiality regarding the yet-to-be-announced Micro-TV.
This act of secrecy mirrors the practices of today's tech giants like Google and Apple. However, this request sparked controversy, leading to sensational headlines in Japan's major weeklies, including articles with headlines such as "Emperor is Hushed Up!" These weekly publications (週刊誌), often regarded more as politically provocative tabloids than bastions of high journalistic standards, may have inadvertently amplified the buzz surrounding the Micro-TV.
Adding to the Micro-TV's allure was a surprise admirer – the legendary Frank Sinatra. After being given a sneak peek in April 1962, Sinatra was so captivated by the TV5-303 that he expressed a desire to take one back to the States. Acknowledging the limitations of the Japanese model in picking up U.S. channels, Morita pledged to deliver a U.S. spec model to Sinatra as soon as they were available.
True to his word, Morita personally delivered the television to Sinatra at Paramount Pictures in October, the day after the sets went on sale, fulfilling his promise and cementing the Micro-TV's status as a technological marvel of its time.
My photo of the Sony TV5-303 Mini-TV can be seen on display in the “House of Kunio Maekawa,” which is just one of the many vintage and preserved structures on display at the Edo-Tokyo Open Air Architectural Museum in Tokyo.

Boulder show report: Sparksblr Edition
Pre-show shenanigans... I bought The Seduction of Ingmar Bergman at the record shop that was a few blocks away from the venue. My mom was actually cool and helped me recreate the day's tour photo. Conversation topics with my neighbors while waiting for the show to start included complimenting everyone's black-and-red outfits and shoes, the gal to my right showing the photo she took of Ron and Russell at the airport earlier, and the gal to my left telling us she'd kept a few sequins from Russell's green suit that she collected off the stage after a show in the 80s.
Russell came on in his black-on-red jacket, so I was matching with him, yay! So May We Start received a tremendous reaction and had Ron smiling. I did the fist pump in unison with Russell during the beat drop in The Girl Is Crying In Her Latte, and I think Ron noticed because I swear he looked straight at me afterwards. Russell had added "the good news is, it's never too late to change" to his speech preceding It Doesn't Have To Be That Way since the last time I'd seen it, and while it still didn't hit me as hard as in Manchester, I was choked up. I was probably the sole person in the audience giving them a standing ovation afterwards, but it doesn't matter--that's how much that song means to me.
My neighbor gave me a look like "wut??" but stood up so that I wasn't the only one dancing during Balls, and Russell's shirt had gone from fully-buttoned to all the way halfway open by the time I noticed. Shopping Mall Of Love had one of the best responses I've ever heard; there were cheers after every single one of Ron's lines all the way to the end of the song. I'm pretty sure Russell held eye contact with me during the final "one fleeting glance" in Escalator, I nearly died, and it was extremely fitting since it was the only time it happened, whereas it seemed like Ron was looking my direction every other time I looked at him :3
Eli was totally working the Bon Voyage solo, unfortunately that was the only moment I noticed from him because Ron was mostly blocking him from my vantage point, not to mention it's impossible to ignore Russell when he's bouncing mere yards away from your face (the front row was knees-to-the-stage so even though I was in the second row I was still VERY close). There was a really sweet moment where Russell smiled at Ron during The No. 1 Song In Heaven when he wasn't looking. Ron was pulling silly faces during his shuffle, and this time there was absolutely no mistaking it, he stared me dead in the eye during the last few seconds of it, and I flashed him a hand heart when he sat back down.
Ron rubbed his hands together like a gleeful cartoon villain before he started My Baby's Taking Me Home. Russell introduced the backing band and cheerfully said "I think that's everybody", then just waited for the crowd's reaction before saying "Oh yeah... Mr. Ron Mael" to huge cheers, and then Ron actually reached out and grabbed the mic away from Russ to introduce his brother. Russell spoke before All That, saying it was a song that was "really apt for how we all feel about all of you guys, and especially on a night like tonight", and it nearly made me cry.
They basked in the final applause for a bit, and Russell gave a cute little gesture like "aw shucks". I climbed over into the front row, waving a card that I'd made for them, but I'm not sure that Russell noticed since he didn't take it from me (and he started giving out handshakes too far over to my right so I didn't get one, sad). So I did what a girl's gotta do, after the band had left I pulled a Fairfield Halls and hopped up onto the stage, and managed to put my card on Ron's keyboard before I got kicked off. I really hope they got it...
--
I'm not exaggerating when I say that Sparks have entirely changed my outlook on life. I don't know what or when, but I know that things are going to be drastically different for me sometime soon. This album and this tour have really solidified that. It's not even a choice anymore.
I'm in a void somewhere between euphoria and despair now, still on a high from my shows but the post-tour blues have kicked in. I know I'll never be able to cling to these memories as strongly as I'd like. I've been crying from emotions I can't even name. I'm so so so grateful for getting to take part in all of this, and forever thankful that the Maels have had such an unwavering commitment to Sparks and that they're still doing what they love.

tysm for the tag @hyuuukais (i loved reading your answers!!)
🧭 who is your favorite kpop group?
…. stray kids 😔 i seriously wanted to still be able to say sf9 because they’re like my ult group but like lake said… the skz brain rot is strong. (listen even as im writing this im like no sf9 is still my favorite skz is just a current hyperfixation… that’s lasted a year,,, so take that as you will)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
🐺 which member sparked your interest?
bang chan. i saw clips of his flirting on channies room. (for example “that would make me your…” and “yeah my nose is big…” clips) so i wanted to know if he was being for real and just a really cute goofy guy or if he was being fake. (answer: he’s a really cute goofy guy) + im gonna say kinda felix too because after i watched one stray kids short i kept getting recommended them and of course felix’s god menu line was involved so it also made me curious to see if it was real or not 🤣
🖤 who was your first bias?
bang christopher chan. i found out he was a cute goofy guy and that’s all i needed to know.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
🐿️ who is your current bias?
take a look at my blog and tell me who my bias is. 😭
hint:
it’s han. jisung.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
🎶 what makes them your current bias?
(literally wrote a whole paragraph that tumblr mobile deleted) he’s amazing in all ways, ever. he’s a genius and funny and he’s just really impressive to me. i love the way his mind works and his visuals definitely don’t hurt matters.
edit: i was able to screenshot while the new draft was saving!! so this:
i fell for his music first. i think he's a genius with his lyrics and the way he thinks and expresses himself. i love his personality (im drawn to loud introverts). and his thought process bro. the way he makes word associations/connections with the things he sees... he is just really impressive to me. and i think he’s a hard worker. he knows his limits but he still does everything he can to make a situation work for him. like even in his last live how he was talking about switching his routine up because he had been getting overloaded with dopamine and he was starting to feel numb to it. the stuff that he said just made so much sense and i really relate to that. and i respect that he realized the problem and actually takes steps to correct it and care for himself. it's cheesy but it's really inspiring to me when i deal with anxiety and stuff. anyways. i think he is really cool 👍🏼
🐽 who is your bias wrecker?
changbin. i want to say all of them because i love everyone in this group so freaking much… but,,, i cannot get away from changbin (he’s holding me hostage, help im scared)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
❤️‍🔥 which member(s) are you currently obsessing over that aren’t your bias/bias wrecker?
again, all of them. but mostly seungmin and lee know rn
Tumblr media Tumblr media
🤟🏼 when did you first discover the group?
october 7th, 2022. i watched the case 143 music video 14 minutes after it had been released out of pure curiosity and pretty colors in the thumbnail. i didnt know anything about them or the fact that it was kpop when i clicked on the video. i had just gotten into kpop a few months ago and still solely listened to sf9 at that point.
🕷️ have you been to one of their concerts?
yes. i cannot believe this, but yes. i met my best friend in atlanta for the maniac encore tour march 2023. at the time i was biasing hyunjin so i have a million and four photos of him and felix (my friends bias). it’s probably one of my favorite memories
✈️ what are some of your favorite songs by them?
okay this isn’t fair. can i answer “their entire discography?”
no?

Does he claim Kylie in the GQ interview? Bc if not I'm not interested. Kylie has been putting a lot of work into this relationship only for peoplento clown her, Timothee should start to do something about it like when he defended lily rose.
"Claim her"? You do know she isn't a piece pf luggage, right? And I'm not clear on what you mean by her "putting a lot of work" into this rs, as if he isn't in it at all? But you clearly believe it's all only pushed by her side and that doesn't sound as if you are at all supportive of them as a couple but I'll entertain you and post what was written. Enjoy:
Over the past six years, as Chalamet became famous and then very famous, he sometimes found himself measuring the distance between the real Timothée Chalamet and these varied perceptions of him. The dinner table of Timothée Chalamets. But this was precisely the sort of needle spinning that seemed to have subsided. This summer, it looked like the signal for true north was evident and clear, and the other noise was receding. He couldn’t control how the distortions travelled. He could only control who he was – and he was happy to own it.
This related to the other time Chalamet popped up in early 2023. In the spring, he was spotted on his way to Tito’s Tacos in Culver City. Notable only because the person he was supposedly with was Kylie Jenner, and the photos of each of their SUVs in proximity to the other spun around the world instantly, sparking rumours of a possible pairing.
Chalamet is not naïve about how celebrity culture works. In fact, besides living it every day, he is perhaps the foremost member of the first generation of mega-celebrity who himself was as internet obsessed with his favourite artists as people are with him. Kid Cudi. Leo. Etcetera. He is a product of that fever, in no way above it, and so he understands the desire to get close, to get all the way in. “I can’t say that this stuff doesn’t matter,” he said, “because my intense fandom has led me to where I am.” But he also bristles at the suggestion that he might not be entitled to a wholly private life.
When I told him that this is all a fair and practically inalienable right, but that if he really wanted to be left alone, he might not spend time with one of the four most followed people on Instagram, he nodded and chuckled: “This reminds me of that recent South Park episode with the Worldwide Privacy Tour,” he said, referring to a send-up of Harry and Meghan flying around in a private jet and appearing on a talk show to demand: We want privacy! We want privacy! “Sometimes, people are going to be hella confused when you say you’re trying to live a private life.”
After months of dodging rumours, the pair confirmed them by attending a Beyoncé concert together in LA in September, then the US Open men’s singles final together in New York, and otherwise not shying away from being out and about and affectionate together in public. Due to the SAG-AFTRA strike, I couldn’t follow up to ask him what happened to his existential plea for this part of his life to be left offstage, but I imagine he might’ve just protested: “We want privacy! We want privacy!”

[never have i ever] no voice to sing, nothing to bloom (1,571 words) - angsty 3.03 re-imagining
Favorite Fic: it’s the nancy drew texting fic, hands down. that one was joyful fun from start to finish and i’m kinda sad writing it didn’t last longer.
Hardest Fic: the as-yet-unpublished ‘a lie away from getting you into the mood’ (aka the second installment of the bitty spark ‘verse). i posted recently about how action is by far the hardest thing for me to write and be happy with, which is why i’m only halfway through this fic despite spending a solid third of my efforts this year chipping away at it.
i’ve started chapter four, like, five different times now it’s driving me up a wall.
Do You Plan to Take Prompts in 2023? i love prompt games as fun, low-stakes exercises so. yes. absolutely.
What was the best thing about 2022? the answer to this question is also ‘a lie away from getting you into the mood’. the fic is my friend, i take it with me everywhere (that is, i have the google docs app open on my phone literally all the time).
What was the worst thing about 2022? co-running a small business is demanding and often exhausting and i did not get to invest the time and energy into writing that i would have liked to.
Any last thoughts for 2022? one of my goals for the year was to write every day, and i accomplished that! didn’t miss a single day out of the year!
and, while it’s exciting for me to be able to say i did that, i will not attempt to do it again. there were definitely days i forced myself to write just to say that i did and it was clear my brain needed some guilt-free time away from any/all of my wips. so, going into 2023, i’ll be relieved to take those days when i need them.
Goals for 2023
finish either the ‘bitty spark’ fic OR devi the vampire slayer
continue keeping track of my daily writing
break 150,000 words (my goal for this past year was to make it to 200,000 and i simply did not have the time or energy so. we’re making the goal to write a little more than this year, but with reasonable expectations about my capacity)

First thoughts on Speak Now (Taylor's Version)
Mine
That first "uh uh uh" 🥺 this song sounds so good; like the 2010 one but so much better.
Sparke Fly
I love that she used a video from tour for the lyric video. 2011 Taylor with her 2023 vocals, quite literally. One of my favourite thing about the rerecordings is how the instrumentals sound a lot clearer. The way she sings "I know it's no good" oh god.
Back To December
I really love the lyric videos. "Then I think about summer all times I watched you laughing from the passanger side" so exceptionally good ugh HER VOCALS.
Speak Now
Underrated bop tbh. The "don't you"!!!
Dear John
Wanted to kms from that first guitar strings. I love that the lyric video is a letter. Idk if I'm imagining but her voice sounds more...haunted (no pun intended) in this version. Of course the high note sounds even better.
Mean
Country bop!!! Another wonderful thing about the rerecording is how better Taylor's gotten at enunciating. She made it to the big old city 🥺.
The Story of Us
A pop punk bop!!! The fact the lyric video's a book wkfkwkf I'm obsessed with the little illustrations!! Again, like the 2010 version but better. NEXT CHAPTER
Never Grow Up
I wasn't emotionally prepared for the way she sings "oh darling" in this. Will I ever be able to listen to this without crying?
Enchanted
A lyrical masterpiece with improved vocals!! This song literally defined my teen years and now I got to listen to it for the first time again. She truly sings "I'm wonderstruck dancing around all along" like a lovestruck teenager. I'm obsessed with the post-bridge breakdown. It sounds like it's literally her thoughts echoing. Using photos from the Speak Now Tour and then changing it up to Eras Tour pictures was soooo mean.
Better Than Revenge
32 years old Taylor telling me to go stand in the corner YESSSSSSS. I love her voice on the opening message. AKFKWKKF HER VOICE IN THE BACKGROUND VOCALS. I don't care about the lyric change! Y'all should move on because there's nothing to do about it. Idk why focus on that one lyric when the best one in the song is the entire second verse like, a lyric genius.
Innocent
Oh god her voice. Can we now admit it's one of her best songs? I hope she rerecorded the song knowing it's okay to still be growing up. That goddamn high note.
Haunted
The fact she sounds actually haunted in this version. VOCALS!!! That squeak on the last "I thought I had you figured out" ...lives were changed.
Last Kiss
Can't believe she somehow made this song even sadder and we just let her. You know when Taylor puts a watch in her lyric video it's gonna be the best song you've ever heard. The "mmmm" before the bridge. SO I'LL WATCH YOUR LIFE IN PICTURES LIKE I USED TO WATCH YOU SLEEP
Long Live
I love that she uses videos from the Speak Now Tour!! Another song that always makes me cry with updated vocals. Her arm lyric reads "She's out there on her own and she's alright." I'M GOING TO SOB
Ours
This used to be my favourite song when I was a kid 🥲. Listening to it again healed something in me tbh. 13 years later and they really couldn't take what's ours.
Superman
This song's my little baby y'all stay away from it. Something in his deep brown eyes has me saying HE'S NOT ALL BAD LIKE HIS REPUTATION. The bridge was always so good and so underrated.
Vault tracks!!
Electric Touch (feat. Fall Out Boy)
I was so hyped for this one. The most important collab she's ever made. I LOVE the production. First date song!! This is like Fearless' older sister. I missed her crush songs kdkfke. Obsessed with her telling the time.
When Emma Falls In Love
Oh a piano song?? This is such a classic Baby Taylor song. "I've got my money on things going badly" -> "when Emma falls in love she calls her mom, jokes about the ways this one could go wrong" "and all the bad boys would be good boys if they only had a chance to love her" -> "I can make the bad guys for the weekend"
I Can See You
I did not expect this. "I can see you up against the wall with me" excuse me??? This song's a reminder Taylor has always been That Girl.
Castles Crumbling (feat. Hayley Williams)
The lyric video's giving "I'd meet you where the spirit meets the bone" literally Nothing New's little sister oh my god what the fuck. This song is a lot quieter and sadder than I expected. Hayley's vocals ekdkekfke GOD. I love it when Taylor uses kingdom metaphors in her songs.
Foolish One
Her voice!!! "You are not the exception" -> "you are the only exception" she will not be the one he loves :// IT'S DELICATE. And "my cards are on the table, yours are in your hand" because she was being honest about her intentions while he was unclear and confusing.
Timeless
Taylor really loves writing songs about her grandparents. What a way to end this album. "Even in a different life you would've been mine"
