Karl's eyes widened in genuine surprise and shock as he didn't even hesitate listening to his student. "Ay-yi-yi! What are they?!" He nearly shouted out of genuine anxiety and concern.

Karl's eyes widened in genuine surprise as he stared at the clean paintbrush that Barbara is holding out for him to take. He reached his hand outwards, grasping the clean paintbrush and staring at the paintbrush for a very long time until he finally snapped out of it, looking over to the blank canvas.
He decided to dip his paintbrush into the color, green, as he then started to paint the canvas which ended up not being blank anymore. He was...surprisingly painting a garden to the best of his ability as he added more colors as time went on. Painting is surprisingly...soothing. He's never felt this relaxed in a while.
"More or less," Barbara confirmed, "Here--" She took her current canvas and placed it off to the side, replacing it with a blank one. "It gets a bit more complicated as you get better, but shapes are the basic of it. Give it a try," she urged the man, hand outstretched with a clean paintbrush.

What tarot card are you?
The Hanged Man
does it make you feel betterâ taking all this blame? the world is heavy. does the weight on your shoulders envelop you? does it make you feel safe? why does the need for grounding outweigh your sinking feet? suspend yourselfâ tie yourself to something if you must. you have a wonderful gift. looking at the world through compound eyes is a test of empathy. you have the heart for it. do not sink below your eyes.
Number: 12
Upright: pause, surrender, letting go, new perspectives
Reversed: delays, resistance, stalling, indecision

@sparksofdaylightâ
Not a lot of cash...
Of course there never was, she didnât make a habit of carrying it. Bad habit for someone like her, even if nobody was likely to actually know how much she was carrying. Besides, all she needed was enough for the hotels and travel and such, then the little extra for fun. This wasnât fun though, this was work. Or help with work.
She had a gig tonight and had found sheâd definitely left her pick...somewhere. Maybe itâd fallen out on the plane, maybe sheâd left it on a table or a nightstand...gone. And she needed it for tonight because her pockets were quite skint.
Luckily the thrift store happened to have one. Sheâd paid just a couple of cents for it, hardly anything. It was worn, but itâd still work. If not, eh. Sheâd played without one before, her fingers bore the callouses to prove it.
âHere comes the sun, little darling...â
Just a bit of a test run.

Horse, LOOSE in a Hospital
âI am fine. Really. It was a tiny faintâ Symphony assured the little nursing aid fussing over him, all smiles and polite given the situation, but heâs taking that little paper cup of cold water to put the young lad at ease and maybe a small pulse of magic to go fawn over other patients who actually needed care.
Heâd had a long night curbing some thrall who were a little too cocky, and before that heâd been grading papers and assignments during the day so ... Yeah. Okay. Maybe he forgot to eat something and his body had a little ... âBlipâ of lost consciousness but he was fine! Grab a packaged fruit salad from the cafeteria on his way out and heâd be dandy to return to class by lunch break.
Oh. Oh no. It was Barbara Lake! ... I bet that little bugger Jim had texted her!

@sparksofdaylight continued from here:
Vax had wanted to tell Vexâahlia that himself and Keyleth would be arriving at Whitestone a week early, but it was his lovely wifeâs idea to surprise his sister. And since he loved pranking her, he was all for it. This was a harmless prank and he knew that his sister would be too happy to see him to really get mad over the little white lie he had told her. At least, that was what he hoped would happen.
Sure enough, when they arrived in Whitestone and she ran straight for him, he held open his arms and wrapped them around her, holding her tightly and smiling widely enough that his face hurt. âHey, Stubby.â He said warmly.
He gasped briefly when she punched him in the arm before it devolved into chuckles of amusement. âI know, I know. But I wanted to surprise you!âÂ

@sparksofdaylightâ gets a plotted group verse starter

Everything was going perfectly, but even if it wasnât, Jane would still be thrilled with the night. Dinner was a triumph, dishes were easily done, and Reggie was still here. Not that he ever missed a Christmas Eve with the Bennets and her motherâs family. She smiled from ear to ear, finding her spot in the crowded living room around the tree right next to Reggie, near her younger cousins, who couldnât seem to leave him alone. It would be time to exchange gifts soon, and Jane had the perfect thing for Reggie. She had only been working on it for the last few months.
She just settled in when her father called to her, serious and stern. Never a good sign. The eldest Bennet daughter stood, smoothing out her red gingham skirt. Her father held the phone, and Jane held out her hand to take it from him, but he shook his head.
âItâs for Reggie, Janey.â
âWho is it?â Jane tilted her head to the side. Her father rubbed the bald spot on the top of his head, meaning it didnât truly matter who it was. It was bad news.
âMrs. Patterson.â Lukeâs mom? Jane opened her mouth, but her father shook his head. âTake him to the kitchen. Stay with him, dear.â Her father motioned her off with a nod of his head. Jane crept through the crowd, tapping on Reggieâs shoulder.
âDad says thereâs a phone call for you. Come on, you can take it in the kitchen.â She offered him his hand, both to help him up and offer him some preventative comfort. Not that she could hazard a guess what bad news Mrs. Patterson brought. She silently prayed Luke was alright.

Peggy watches with a critical eye as Vex drains the dregs of the wine, a slightly bemused look on her face as the other woman fills her cup to near overflowing. Sure, she could be annoyed, but then...
Peggy gets off the sofa and goes into the kitchen with a laugh. âAnd yet hereâs what incredibly sexy of me,â she says, opening the refrigerator and emerging victorious, âA second bottle.â

âHas anyone ever told you, that you are annoying?â Hans asked. He didnât expect to run into the ice harvester, honestly he didnât want to be in Arendelle at all. But his father had forced him to come, while he tried to fix things between the two kingdoms.Â

âI despise this town.â (from jaaaack
"I know ya do... I do, too..." She looked around warily, with a numb sort of frown, as they tried to make their way safely home after yet another long day. It neve ceased to amaze her just how different things could look when you're on the ground versus looking at the city from the rooftop. You could believe in your dreams on the rooftop... There wasn't time for dreaming when you were trying to keep from being robbed of your handful of change, to keep from getting mugged and soaked, to keep from getting killed. "Sometimes, listenin' ta you talk about Santa Fe is all what gets me through sometimes, ya know? An' lookin' atcha drawin's an' such..." She let her shoulders slump as she dodged someone in a rush, trying to avoid being trampled herself. It had been a long day, and her leg was tired and hurting, and bein' trampled by rich folks certainly wouldn't help... After a moment, she gave a groan. "Hey, Jackie, I'm g-gonna need ta stop fer a minute, I think..." She felt embarrassed; all she wanted was to get home, but damn, her leg was botherin' her.

âI thought you were going to quit smoking.â (from Jack)
"I did," Darcy sighed, slowly releasing the smoke from his lungs. He had been doing better between the gums and the medicines and the help from his friends, but today had been just too much. Too much stress, not enough sunlight. The nicotine brought him back down, down to where he felt like he was functioning. He'd have to throw away the pack and toss his clothes in the wash as soon as he got home to keep Katherine from noticing. He didn't want her worrying about him.
"Please don't tell Kath."

A 19TH CENTURY CANDY STARTER FOR JACK AT @sparksofdaylight !!!!!!
----------------------------------------------------------
Being a newsboy was hard work, but somedays, somedays the headlines were good and the selling was easy and it wasnât too cold or too hot and there was time enough before dinner to grab your best friend and go on a little adventure.
Even though they sold on different corners, Crutchie showed up early to Jackâs to haunt him for a bit, make sure nobody else nabbed him, before dragging him by the hand towards Brooklyn, to the Brooklyn Bridge. It didnât take long to get to one of the green areas on the bank of the river, especially with Crutchie going as fast as she could with her brother in tow, all the way to a bench down by a sandy stretch. There were people everywhere, but for the first time in ages, they were just two of the people enjoying the river and the sight of the bridge and the ducks that ran around, quacking around their feet, not two kids struggling til the end of the day to make ends meet.
Crutchie sat and looked around, giving a sigh of relief before turning to Jack with a mischievous smile as she pulled something from her vest pocket and pressed it into his hands, her smile brightening. A box of Cracker Jacks. âAdventures need snacksâŠâ And goodness knows, if anyone needed an adventure, Jack Kelly certainly did. She pulled a caramel taffy out of her other vest pocket and unwrapped it, popping it into her mouth with a giggle as she started to chew.
She looked around again in silence, taking her hat off and sitting it beside her before giving a small jump and an exclamation, before pulling a small bundle of cloth out of yet another pocket and unwrapping it to reveal the biscuit she had gotten for breakfast from the nuns that morning that she clearly hadnât eaten. She immediately began to crumble it up before starting to throw pieces to the ducks, who seemed to recognize her and not mind the stale bread.
It wasnât the most exciting adventure in the world, but it was hard to be a cowboy and go on cowboy adventures in New York City⊠so she hoped an afternoon by the river, watching the boats and feeding the ducks and having snacks, would satisfy.
